Sehr cooles Konzept aber schwache, substanzlose Charaktere.
Ich weiß noch nicht ob ich weiterlesen.

OH WOW. OK. This was, as we Dutch would call it, heftig. A reunion, experiments, death, poison.

I was browsing through Google Play for some new books and came across this manga, I was immediately intrigued by the premise. Reunion. Murder. I was maybe a dash uncertain as I wasn’t the biggest fan of the mangaka’s other book (Until Your Bones Rot), but I was still willing to try it out. And I am happy I did!

In this one it is time for a reunion between friends/classmates. They haven’t seen each other in years and so everyone is present . They think it is just going to be a fun few days in the school building before it is destroyed. They are happy to see each other again and some of them changed A LOT, which made me laugh. But quickly things go very dark when they find out what happened to one of them and when they try to run… well they find out even more bad things. I was shocked at how fast it went from a happy reunion to oh well we are fucked now. We see that Mikio (a guy I am still not sure about, I mean, I didn’t believe his excuse for this whole thing, it feels like there is much more to it) has planned some dark experiments and is willing to go very far. Not participating in the experiments is a no-go. You have to be part.

And we see how these bonds are easily broken when under strain. We see that the characters who look all to be pretty normal and sweet have some dark secrets, dark things going on, things that happened in the past when they were classmates. Like how one girl was bullied and raped but didn’t tell anyone. How someone acted like they weren’t friends with someone. It was quite interesting to see the group fall apart and so fast. Given what we learned at the start it seemed that this was such a wonderful class, but apparently nope. I am intrigued to see what is coming next, because I am sure there are many more secrets and darkness + someone has poison now, oh yes. Mikio isn’t the only one doing the bad things.

I loved that the book started with a news report on the situation including the deaths, some may see it as a spoiler, but it made me even more curious about the book. Who was going to die in those ways? Who would survive? Why was this happening?
Plus, I loved that twice throughout the manga we saw two classmates who survived and tells us a hint/gives us a bit of the puzzle.

The art was pretty good. The style fits great with the kind of story it is, though the deaths felt a bit weird/over done.

But, if you are looking for a psychological horror read then this is your book. I will be reading this manga further because I need to know how it goes.

Death games

At a class reunion, one of the students forces the others to engage in deathgames to challenge their morality and friendship. People die, people turn on eachother, not once did it explain why I should care it.

This was published as "Mystery 15+", however I consider it a lot heavier than that and would more likely recommend it to adults.

Plus, for me personally, some parts were very difficult to read. Not because they were not clear. But of how messed up they were.

I do not recommend this for anyone weak of heart. It is very heavy. Very dark.
