Welcome to Summervale…
One of the USA’s top vacation spots. It’s a sunny coastal town. Population…
Oh, who cares.
The tourism ads paint Summervale as the perfect, picturesque town. It’s the ideal location to have spring break in, or retire at.
But I know the truth.

17 year old Darcie Ryder thought life would be different on the other side of the tracks. In this town, you are judged on by what side of the river you live on.
She was born a ‘have not’, but due to her father’s new social status and job, she moves into the rich neighbourhood called The Circle, and becomes a ‘have’.
In the Circle, she is introduced to the other kids at the town’s annual back to school bonfire on the beach.
Here she meets the handsome, and totally out her league, Dane O’Connell.
Even though they are from the opposite sides of the river, they share a connection they both can’t deny.
But when the body of a teenage girl turns up dead on the shore, the mystery to her death will either bring the teens closer together…
or tear them further apart.

In the first instalment of a new YA contemporary mystery series from L.L. Hunter, there are secrets a plenty in Summervale, but only some will surface. The rest will be taken to the grave.

Picked this up as a stuff your kindle. Was a fast 80 pages and was YA when I was looking for NA.
Wasn't my speed but I could see it for the 13 year old wanting some romance.

I would recommend to those wanting a youthful romp.

I have been quite excited to read this book as I have a total cover crush on L.L Hunter's new book and then the idea that it was a YA mystery had me intrigued. The book starts with a town that has your bad side and then your good side is known as Rich Mile. Darcie used to live on the other side of the tracks with her mother until her mum passed in a suspicious death and now, she is with her Dad. Darcie and her friend Sarah are starting a new school with the "rich kids" and Darcie has captured the eye of the hottest guy in the school Dane and it also turns out that he is her neighbour. Her friend Sarah is busy dating Ashton Striker - a Rockstar. In this town, a handful of females have turned up dead and Darcie and her new friends have been there each murder. We also learn that Darcie and her dad are hiding a dark secret, but when he starts dating Dane's mother - it seems that Dane and Darcie will be hiding a secret too. This book does end on a massive cliffhanger and I was left a little confused after finishing the book, but after chatting to the author - book #2 comes out in May, so we won't have to wait too long, and hopefully, some questions will be answered.

it has a nice premise, kinda reminds me of elite except there are more characters in this and it’s so rushed

1/3 stars cause it’s a novella

Finished this while waiting for my doctors appointment😂 It’s was only 80 pages
Was okay… it made me feel old? Like I’d write something similar in highschool for an essay? I honestly couldn’t relate to most of the characters. They lacked depth. Yeah that it.

Didn't like it, the writing was way to immature, the storyline was like a 5yr old wrote it.
Didn't make sense and god knows why its even called Truth or Dare.

Truth or Dare by L.L. Hunter is an interesting book that kept me invested. The plot was entertaining, the characters were intriguing, and the writing was great.

This is a twisty story. Unexpected and dark twists came around when I was least expecting them. I really enjoyed the mystery. I think this was left open for the next read. I was invested enough to want to read on to see what happens!
I love a good forbidden romance. This is sweet with just enough steam to keep it interesting. I enjoyed reading this couple’s story.

Overall, Truth or Dare is a good read. Solid and worth checking out! Give it a shot.

Thank you to Lady Amber’s PR for the opportunity to be on this blitz and for the review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

3.5 rounded to 4☆

If you're looking for a short read, Truth Or Dare is something you would like. I really enjoyed the story and the storyline was excellent. I kind wanted to read more of the story, more about the plot and characters. It's very quick pace too. I look forward to reading more of the series soon

Fast read with an interesting storyline. It ends very abruptly though on a cliffhanger

could’ve been good…

The story could be so good if it was fleshed out, she switches between first person and third person towards the end and a lot of the sentences seem repetitive or just don’t make sense. This seems like a first very rough draft.

That was bad, so bad!
The story had potential but it just wasn’t executed well.
Then it just ended, but nothing wrapped up at all. More like the end of a chapter, not a novella!

I'm not the type of person to give a bad review. There, I said it and I'm not ashamed about it, but this book had me questioning my rating process. I gave Truth or Dare 3 stars only because of the story idea. I loved the concept and was fascinated by the characters. The problem was with the time lapses and lack of detail. There were several gaps/holes in the story line. I believe the story has potential it just needs fine-tuning and details.

...
*After the first death at the Circle, everyone just went on with life not questioning a thing. Then the second murder happened, time went on and no talk about it. Not even gossip, which I found odd because what high school doesn't have alittle bit of gossip. Now the 3rd murder which was at the hospital, again no questions or gossip.
*The dad seemed almost non existent, but played an important role in Darcie's life. At the end he proposes to Dane's mom, but the story didn't even suggest they were serious. *Some chapters would end with the main characters in mid convo and the next chapter would start with a week going by.

Ummnnn..... what happened. The writing was just plain bad, no character development, no sense of time. Luckily it's only 80 pages so I whizzed through this, at least it counts to my GoodReads goal 🤷‍♀️

Oh my Wattpad.

For starters, this needed a few more rounds of editing (if it even was in the first place) before it was published. The author switch between first- and third-person, bounced between past and present tense within the same sentence, missed a lot of capitalization, had so many run on sentences... Not to mention the inconsistencies and poorly written dialogue between Darcie and Dane. Even if you somehow are able to look past all of the errors, I still can't say that this would be worth the hour it would take you to read it.

The plot was nonexistent, and I can't imagine how the following five novellas carry on. There are murders occurring, but no one seems to care. The main character has a tragic backstory that seems to be made up on the spot and gets more ridiculous with every big reveal. The "romance" is insta-love and wholly unbelievable. Not to mention how oblivious the main character is for the sake of drama and moving the story along. (I rolled my eyes so hard when Darcie didn't realize that Dane lived next door to her and when Dane still wasn't sure Darcie lived next door even after discussing Darcie's father with his mother.)

If it's free and you don't mind wasting an hour, maybe you'd get a kick out of it, but I wouldn't spend money on this.

What directly attracted me to this book was the book cover - I really like that! The book summary also made me really curious. All in all, I liked the story concept and the two main characters Darcie and Dane.
But I think that the book and its story development suffered from the low number of pages. To the extent that the story has gaps in detail in some places that rather confused me.

*** spoiler warning ***

*- I don't understand at all the relationship between Darcie and her father. Apparently they get along so well, but that he is dating Danes mother she only finds out through Dane !? And the ending confused me too: why the hell doesn't he tell his daughter that he proposed to this woman?
*- What I couldn't understand either, was that there was no gossip at all about the deaths at school and life just went on ...

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first read by L.L. Hunter, so I was new to her writing style and genre type.

When reading the synopsis, I assumed this was a boy and girl meets. Boy is from the right side of the tracks. Girl is not. They fall in love despite it being frowned upon. Through in some teenage angst and drama and you have a nice little well rounded love story.

I found the plot and timeline of True or Dare to be very choppy and all over the place. Timelines jumped without any real segway from one part of the story to another. Very hard to follow. There didn’t seem to be any real issues with Darcie and Dane being together, so I found that to be confusing.

Then we jump to the end and it seem to be a genre change. Suddenly having a horror, paranormal vibe.

I feel that the plot had promise it fell short on execution. Hopefully Book 2 will be a more solid read

3.5 stars.
I very much enjoyed the plot as a whole. It kept me engaged and wanting to know more. I was certainly intrigued to hear the secrets! The character set up was fab, but I felt it lacking in some areas.
I do wish there was more details and not so many time gaps. There was a ton of room to add more content! I was really disappointed with the character depth and development.... hopefully more holes and will be filled in as the story progresses!

My favorite part about reading a book is learning where the title comes from. Perhaps I missed it, or maybe it will make sense in the second book, but I didn’t get it.

honestly 90% of my thought process during this book was just "what the fuck...?" it had a random plot that made no sense, the title of the book makes literally 0 sense, a "not like other girls" fmc, and random ass time skips. the fmc and mmc were all over each other from moment 1 without knowing anything about each other and went from 0 to 100 in the span of 2 days and honestly it was just poorly written. there were multiple mysteries and secrets that seemed like they were just pulled out of the authors ass and only served to add to the spaghetti plot

I enjoyed the read and could see the plot was heading in right direction - but in my opinion there were a few holes in the story line and it didn't flow in some spots It seemed there were a few gaps in the time flow which made it a little bit frustrating . I did like the character building it kept me interested and wanting to know what was going to happen next with all the secrets .
I am looking forward to see if all is revealed in the next book !

I don’t typically give negative reviews, but here we are. I felt like I wrote this. A lot of run on sentences, and thoughts all over the place. The premise and plot had a lot of potential but there were a lot of inconsistencies and unrealistic actions that just annoyed me.

It is set up in 6 small parts, and this being the first. The ending is abrupt and you almost the same amount of information at the end that you did at the beginning. I do not intend to continue to read.
