This beautifully written book chronicles a year in the life of a large urban park on the banks of the Warwickshire Avon, and the surprising wildlife to be found as the seasons unfold. There are exiting discoveries, little-known facts, tips on identification, and the legends associated with many of our wild creatures. From long-distance migrants to spectacular predators, each month brings something new and uplifting.
Really loved reading this account of life in the park down my street, that I walk in every week several times! Was excited to spot the book in my library and grateful for all the wonderful facts, interesting tales and information weaved into the lovely descriptions of place and it’s characters very familiar to me, yet they came alive again in new ways and gave me new curiosities and encouragement to keep noticing and learning. Made me wish I could go for one of my morning st nicks wanders with Rick!! Would learn so much! St Nick’s with Rick?!?! Local book promo event and nature walk!? Great find, full of great finds!
