I made the mistake of falling for one of my brother’s friends. As if that wasn’t stupid enough, I then declared my love to him.
Yeah, I know. Big mistake. Huge mistake. But here I am with my rejected feelings, and Noah won’t even look at me. Whenever he has to talk to me, his words are blunt. Yet they cut deeper than any knife.
What’s a girl to do when the man she loves won’t give her the time of day?
Make herself irreplaceable in his life, of course.
Noah West More handsome than all the rest. I loved him from deep in my bones, But then he found out And became all curt And trampled my heart in the dirt.

CALLOUS HEIR: is the fifth full length romance book in the series 'The Heirs', by Michelle Heard. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'
Callous Heir was one I was highly anticipating, especially as we saw in the previous book with how Noah was slowly starting to warm up to our hilarious impersonator Carla so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this to see how it would all pan out.
Carla headlights have been set on high beam towards Noah since she was fifteen and he was twenty when she even blurted out to him which didn't go at all the way she was secretly hoping for. All he saw when he looked at her was a kid, she wouldn't be able to handle his dominate side.
But once she reached of age and they were sharing the same condo all bets were off.
“ Finally. After all these years. After not giving up and endlessly hoping, after all the tears, all the longing, all the dreaming about a future that might never be mine. Noah is willing to try. ”
These two had one speed and it was fast, once Noah caught the feels there was no stopping him, he went all in which surprised me a wee bit I was expecting a bit more resistance from him in this book. But we also got to see a softer more protective side appear which I loved. The author just matches her characters up perfectly and these two were the perfect fit.
“ Carla makes me feel things I've never felt before. Interest, desire, protectiveness, the need to dominate her. ”
This author never takes the easy road when it comes to giving us a run of the mill straight forward romance book, its never so cut and dry with her because she will always put her own twisty spin on things and that right there is what makes me come back for more. Her ability to unexpectedly throw a unique read with her uncanny heart stopping twists are what she's becoming known for, she lulls you into a bubble of calmness when out of nowhere BAM she does it again! My heart stopped My eyes stayed glued to my ipad
“She fucking changed everything. She turned my world on its head. She added a deeper meaning to every single second.”
Callous Heir, book 5 in The Heirs series, is told from the POVs of Carla Reyes and Noah West. I devoured their romantic and surprising story. Let me tell you now, you may think you know what to expect for Carla and Noah's story... but you don't! I loved how it ended up for them.
The beginning portion of the book recaps Noah and Carla's relationship progression thus far, exploring tidbits we've seen in the previous books but from their own perspective this time, as well as scenes we didn't know about before. Carla has loved Noah since she was 15. At 20 years old, Noah harshly rejected her. The years that follow are filled with antagonism, confusion, and longing. Now they are at Trinity Academy together, living in the same suite, and Noah is wearing down and feeling things he never has before.
Once Noah fell for Carla, he was so perfect and dreamy. He was so adamant about making her happy and taking care of her. When things started looking good, I started wondering what was coming to cause problems. I admit I didn't see a certain plot twist coming at all. And then I could not stop reading, I was so worried and had to know everything was going to be okay.
I definitely loved Noah and Carla's sweet story and am loving this series more and more.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"Who says that my dreams have to stay just my dreams!"{from Little Mermaid}
If you have read a book by Michelle Heard, it's impossible to not be coming back for more... Her characters are so lovable and they are pulling you under their spell no matter what is happening in their lives... Of course, this woman (Yes, I mean YOU, Michelle!!!) won't ever be satisfied if she won't 'ruin' her characters in some aspect!!! Darn!!! There isn't a single book of hers that when you think that everything got into their merry way, bang!, she is making a twist that is leaving you with your mouth hanging wide open!!! And that's one of the reasons that this author is addictive!!!
"It's only a matter of time, Noah. If you haven't realized that yet, I don't give up easily."
Noah West and Carla Reyes. Carla and Noah... If you have read the previous books, you will know that these two has a mutual hatred toward each other. Or not???? And in the "Loyal Heir", we saw them to get warm to each other... Well, in here, we realized that Carla had set her eyes upon Noah since she was 15 and he was 20, but Noah rejected her in a very abrupt way because he thought of her as a kid. His friend's little sister!!!
"I'm not a pedophile. Date someone your own age."
At the present, these two are forcing to live under the same roof and since Noah had stayed behind alone without the rest of the crew, these two along with Forest and Aria are spending more time together... It was great to witness this supposed hatred to turn out to lust and then on something more.... At least, from Noah's turn since Carla knew from years ago where she was standing with Noah...
"Since Noah rejected me the first time, the cracks covering my heart keep tearing open every time I consider giving up. How do you let go of the one thing you want more than your next breath?"
I won't lie to you, everything started beautifully and they were progressing really great until these two managed to find a common ground with their love status... But damn me, then, we got into a wild and very fast rollercoaster which was progressing everything in the speed of a lightning and I might needed a little bit slower pace... But still... You won't seeing me complaining since I loved Carla and Noah very much.
"My unrequired love is becoming a problem for both of us."
"Carla is like an out of control rollercoaster, and I'm not sure I'll survive the ride."
Carla was such a cute girl!!! I loved how silly and carefree she were and I love her impersonations... I loved that she was confident and dynamic. She knew what she wanted and she wasn't giving up. I believe that she was the perfect match for Noah, cause she could understand him and keep her distance when it was needed... As for Noah... Yes, he was a little bit cruel toward Carla back then, but he was just himself... His mind was working differently than the rest of the people and he was always searching the scientific aspect of the things. He wasn't expecting loud and spontaneous Carla to step into his life and change everything that he knew until this moment...
"I want to push him away and tell him I'm going to stop loving him, but I can't. Instead, I press closer to him, needing him more than my next breath."
"She fucking changed everything. She turned my world on its head. She added a deeper meaning to every single second."
Yep, I loved AND this couple very much... Together they were perfect!!! Yep, things were progressing really fast between them, but i loved the different sides of them that they showed us in here... Carla was so patient and easygoing and Noah was so protecting and caressing toward Carla... And now, I can not wait for more of this crew!!!
"It's funny how life throws curveballs that at first seem like the worst possible thing, only to turn out to be the greatest blessing."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review***
Hero : Noah West. Bad boy and someone who thinks that he is not capable of emotions. He was rude at first but I loved the way he commited to Carly when he decided he wanted her! I was totally swooning !
Heroine : Carla. She was the perfect mixture of sassy and sweet for Noah. I loved the way she waited for him for years , despite so much rejection , she never gave up on him because she knew he was worth it!
Pace of the story : Slow in the starting , but picked up towards the middle
Angst Rating : 7/10
Heat Rating : 7/10
Triggers Involved : None
Plot Summary : Carla has been in love with Noah for years. Years ago she made the mistake of confessing her love and Noah shot her down brutally. Since then he makes sure to stay away from her and hurt her everytime she comes near him through his words. After so much rejection , Carla decides that it is finally time to move on from her crush but a certain incident shifts their dynamics and now everything is messed up!
Carla was a 15 year old when she confessed her love to Noah. Turning her down was the decent thing to do because he was much older than her. Now after years , Noah is still keeping away from her because for him she will always be that little girl. That is until one night changes everything and suddenly he sees that she is no longer the little girl who used to play with him but a beautiful woman who has always wanted him. And this time , he was the one making the move.
Overall Opinion : I loved this book!! I have been looking forward to reading Noah and Carla since I read about them in Kao and Fallon’s book . They obviously had chemistry and a history , which is totally my favourite trope! And Michelle killed me with this one.
Noah and Carla were perfect for each other . Even though they had a lot of obstacles in the starting , instead of dwelling on those , they focused on going forward which was an amazing thing for me! The story pace was slow in the starting and then it picked up! The ending was good for me and I already can’t wait for the books of the next characters!
If you are in the mood for a light second chance contemporary romance , then pick up this series by all means! It’s absolutely perfect!
Final Verdict : A sweet and sassy romance! Perfect for all second chance romance lovers I loved the hell out of this one! Story pace was slow in the beginning but picked up a lot towards the end .
A sugary sweet read! Just what I needed at the moment.
(Spoilers below)
Carla has been in love with Noah since she was fifteen and he was twenty, giving them a 5-year age gap. He brushed off her declaration of love back then pretty harshly since she was underage and broke the poor girl's heart. He could have been a little nicer about it, but he definitely did the right thing.
Fast forward three years - they are both sharing a dorm suite with their friends at Trinity and at first I was annoyed that Carla was still holding out for Noah even though he did not reciprocate her feelings. I was hoping she had dated since getting rejected but she's still in love with him. Thankfully she wasn't super cringe in getting his attentions and Noah pretty quickly realized he was starting to see Carla in a different light and was developing feelings for her.
And let me tell you, Noah was everything I wanted! Once he was in - he was SO in. I loved seeing their growing relationship and the natural bumps that came along. Noah was so damn devoted to Carla after they got together it was everything.
If you have been reading this series, as I have, you will know that there is some bad blood between Noah and Carla but we just didn't know what it was all about especially when you could pick up on the sexual tension between the two. Well, fear not because all of your questions will be answered in this story.
This story runs parallel to LOYAL HEIR so we get to see some of the things we only got glimpses of in that book, which I absolutely loved. This book was such a fun read for me. I really enjoyed watch Noah navigate his feelings for Carla, being a genius sometimes has it's disadvantages because he is always over thinking things.
Carla and Noah are like the opposite sides of the same coin, they fit perfectly together even though they are so different.
Ever since I finished the Trinity Academy series by Michelle, I have been so ready to read the spin off series starring their kids, and the kids from the Enemies to Lovers series. The crossover of these two worlds began in the final two books of the Trinity Academy series and I was excited to see all the kids grown up and ready to have their own HEAs. Callous Heir is book 5 in the Heirs series but can be read as a standalone.
Carla Reyes has had a crush on Noah West, 5 years her senior, since she was 15, but when she built up the courage to tell him, he understandably shot her down, but did it in the cruellest of ways. Three years later, there has been a strain between them ever since that day, with Carla trying her best to get over him, whilst Noah does his best to keep her away by acting cold towards her. But now living together at Trinity Academy, Noah begins to see that Carla has grown up, and begins to feel things for her, unexpected things. Noah is intelligent, needing facts and control, so doesn’t understand his change in emotions for her, and after becoming her friend, he realises he needs to see if these feelings he has will go anywhere. Carla is over the moon, and is ready for whatever Noah will give her, but neither of them expect the life changing event to take place soon after they begin dating. Now with a new path ahead of them, how will their new relationship fair?
Noah has always intrigued be with his science brain, and the belief that everything has an explanation. He had never really believed in love until his feelings grew for Carla, going as far as to read scientific papers to see what the science behind falling in love was. But when he gives into his feelings, he sees what he’s been missing all along, this connection to someone else that is like no other. His love for Carla grew quickly, but was so real, you could see their bond was genuine. Carla’s dreams came true the day that Noah said he would try a relationship between them, and I loved how she took it at his pace because it proved just how well she knew and understood how he worked. I loved her personality and her impersonations; they were so nicely woven into the plot and made her individual in such a large amount of characters in this series.
As a couple they were probably the most intense out of all of them so far, Noah was definitely the most alpha of the lot. It’s always the quiet ones 😉 I loved their relationship though, they balanced each other out so well, and quickly went from being almost enemies and strangers to each other’s support systems, and the one they could go to for anything. Carla’s persistence paid off!
Overall, I adored all these characters, although I did have to draw a family tree to remember who everyone was because there was an overload of names at the beginning, but it set up all the future relationships between the offspring nicely. I am so excited that the next book is finally Hana’s story, I have been intrigued since book 2 about what’s going on with Tristan, and the hints throughout have left me wanting more! We’re now over halfway through the Heirs series, I can’t wait for the final three books coming soon!
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
Carla has been in love with Noah since she was 15 and he was 20 and she declared her love to his face at 15 only to be rejected by him, shes still a kid .
Fast forward and Carla is now 18 and Noah is 23 . Slowly things begin to change and Carla is not going to give up but when she finally gets her man you see a totally different side of Noah which really melted your heart, we are used to seeing Robot Noah the Noah that doesn't feel much or so we thought because Carla brings something else out in him. These two go through one hell of a ride and not an easy one. From start to finish Michelle keeps you wanting more and keeps you on your toes until the very last page.
I've always loved Carla and this book made me love her more, and its about time she got her happy ever after story. Carla wanted Noah and never gave up and nothing was going to get in her way, and if you didnt love Noah before you will after this book..
Callous Heir is Noah West and Carla Reyes' story, two people who are always at each other's throats.
Warning: The books in this series feel the best when read in order.
Synopsis: Carla has always been googly-eyed for Noah, but thinking of her as younger than him and a dreamer against his practical self, he always ignores her. At Trinity Academy, their group of friends share the same suite and it's practically impossible to not run into each other. What happens when Noah realises that he does have feelings for Carla?
Review: I really enjoyed Carla and Noah sniping at each other almost every chance they got in the last book, and I couldn't wait to read their story. The story starts from when Carla was fifteen and Noah twenty. And how Noah gutted her by brutally turning down her declaration of love for him.
Carla is Jase Reyes' sister, Jase from Arrogant Heir, and I just knew that I'll love this book too! And Noah, well, we saw his caring side when he was with Kao after the latter's accident, as we read in Defiant Heir.
Callous Heir runs parallel to the previous book, Loyal Heir. And I'd have loved to see, instead of reading, Carla's impersonations of her favourite animated movie characters. They seem to be that fun! Noah, with an IQ as high as his, has quite the dirty fantasies about Carla and fears that he is not the guy for her. Her being too innocent, as well as the way his complex brain works.
It was so sweet, seeing Noah struggling with what he felt, or if he even felt anything like love. And Carla, I felt sad for her, as Aria and Forest getting together seemed to break their three musketeers group and made her feel lonely.
But of course, it all turns out for the good in the end, even though there are quite some major hiccups along the way. These hiccups made the story more interesting though. Two things were the best in this story, the beautiful emotions and when the dirty fantasies were enacted. Yep!
Next up is Sinful Heir, Tristan Hayes and Hana Cutler's story.
Thank you to Candi Kane PR for an e-ARC of the book.
Michelle Heard’s ability to not only write a story that consumes your mind but also brings the characters emotions to life inside you astounds me more with every book.
Carla has had feelings for Noah since she was in high school but when she expressed them to Noah his reaction was venomous leaving her heartbroken and mine with a splinter. I adored Carla; she was quirky, sassy, and wore her heart on her sleeve. You could feel the flickers of the connection they shared more so on Carla’s side at the beginning than Noah’s but that changed quickly.
Noah had reasons for his initial reaction to Carla’s feelings but as they were now living together at Trinity Academy his perspective of her began to change. Noah is highly intelligent, quirky, and the reigning king of alphas in The Heirs series.
One night of playing a drinking game with roommates ignited those flickers of a connection between Noah and Carla into an all-consuming connection that comes when you connect with the one person that brings tranquility to your soul by just existing.
Michelle Heard’s writing is nothing short of spectacular; she brings The Heirs world to life on the pages. A perfect infusion of an all consuming connection, a sassy heroine, quirky alpha hero, witty banter, profusely emotional, and steam.
I don't even know what to say about this series. Every book just gets better and better 😊
Carla has been in love with Noah since she was 15years old. And after the one night she got the courage to tell him how she feels things just didn't go the way she planned and she ended up heart broken.
Now 2years later both of them attend Trinity and they share a suite with their friends and she is still in love with him but she feels she needs to keep her distance as she can't get herself to be close to him and risk getting hurt again. But living in close quarters and being so close to him is not helping her feelings going away. But now it seems as if Noah is finally seeing that Carla is not a little girl anymore. But it's never that easy🤷♀️
I didn't know where this was going, but I have to say I was hooked from the start. The beginning parts give you some background and just when you thought things wasnt going to work out the dynamic shifts and then adding in the suspense this book will have on the edge of your seat. It was sweet, sometimes sassy, definitely some angst and just pure goodness😊😍 I can't wait to read the next one in this series, I mean how much more will I be able to take😬😉👏
My heart is so full right now! I absolutely loved Noah and Carla’s story! One of my favorite tropes is friends to lovers, but this one is a little different. With the age difference they weren’t exactly friends, as Noah just felt Carla was too young for him. But Carla was determined to prove that they belonged together, no matter how long it took her to show Noah.
Noah is a complex character, so very intelligent, and so very loyal to his friends and family. When he starts to develop feelings for Carla, he’s not sure what to do. Carla may be young, but she’s a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Noah. When these two come together, it’s explosive! The chemistry is unreal and I just knew in my heart they needed to end up together. But sometimes little things in life happen, and when one does to them, how will they deal with it? Will it bring them together or pull them apart?
I’m a lover of this entire series and each time I fall in love with the characters, and this story is no exception. Noah and Carla are imbedded in my heart forever. Please do yourself a favor and read this story about two people who truly are destined to be together.
Hands down.. another phenomenal job Michelle.. These men and there women just keep getting better and better with each book..
This book revolves around Carla Reyes and Noah West.. and what a heartbreakingly beautiful story it is.. <3
Carla is the daughter of Julian Reyes & Jamie Truman from Julian (The Trinity Academy) Noah is the son of Jaxson West and Leigh Baxter from Careless (Enemies to Lovers Series)
Carla has been in love with Noah since she was 15 and he was 20.. and the one night she decides to confess her love to him... things don't go to plan.. Carla is left heartbroken..
Fast Forward 2 years.. Carla is now 18 and Noah is 23.. Both are attending Trinity and are sharing the Suite.. Carla is still in love with Noah but she needs to keep her distance.. The heartache is still to real and raw.. She also dose not want a repeat of last time..
One night while playing a "drinking game" with the roomates.. things get a little to real.. and feelings start to change.. This leaving Noah very confused.. seeing as he has always thought or saw Carla as the little girl he grew up with.. but now realizing she isn't that little girl any longer. She has grown into a beautiful young woman..
As I said prior.. these books just keep getting better and better.. I sooooooo can not wait to get my hands on Tristan and Hana..
When Carla was 15 years old she professed her love to a 20 year old Noah. Noah not knowing how to deal with people and emotions said some really mean things to make Carla forget about her young love for him - hoping that she would move on. Three years later Carla has not gotten over Noah but every time they are in the same room they get on each other's nerves. But once they start living together at Trinity Academy Noah doesn't see her as the little 15 year old girl anymore.
I did not like Noah at first. He absolutely earned his name, callous, and I couldn't understand why he was such a jerk. Eventually I came to understand him and where he was coming from and it all made sense. Once I understood him better I fell so hard for him. Noah was absolute perfection and I want one of my own. Carla kind of irked me a bit but she was fun and perfect for Noah. She got him. She was truly his other half. Once Noah figured this out they were so endearing and the sweetest couple. I think Noah may be my favorite heir. While this story was oddly predictable for me I loved every second of it.
Callous Heir is the fifth book in The Heirs series by Michelle Heard.
ARC kindly provided by Michelle Heard for an honest review.
Callous Heir is told in dual point of views by Noah West and Carla Reyes.
Noah West is super smart that excels in everything he does. Carla Reyes is super sassy yet super sweet. She has confidence and is absolutely beautiful.
Carla has been in love with Noah since she was 15 years old. She made the biggest mistake of confessing her love him and she got rejected in the most embarrassing way possible. After Noah's rejection, she decided to try to move on.
Noah felt that their age difference was huge and out of respect, it was the most logical option to do. They started ignoring then getting on each others nerves until everything changes.
I super duper loved this book! I think that Noah and Carla are perfect for each other. This was the perfect friends-ish-to-lovers romance. Their banter was the perfect chemistry. This was highly emotional and a page turner. This was such a surprise. The Heirs just keep getting better and better.
Michelle, you rock! You are always full of surprises and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.
I was sweept up in his alpha/charm aura that had me with heart eyes in minutes.
I couldn't get enough of him he had me captivated from the start, the intense chemistry between Noah and Carla was amazing and so saucy I literally needed a mop.
These two together were by far my fave couple, I loved every second of them together and the banter and laugh out loud impersinations by Carla just made for an unbelievable read.
Heard is amazingly talented at pulling at your heartstrings and sex drive because boy that woman writes some saucy stuff.
Noah is charming, yet a hard ass, very alpha yet sweet and so sexy he has a perment place in my heart.
Carla was funny, strong and just enough annoying to get Noah to notice and it made me love her for her never give up attitude and determination.
A hot as read with enough angst and drama to sweep you off you feet, have you blushing and feeling all hot until you reach the end.
Book 5 in The Heirs, and we have Noah West, son of Jaxson and Leigh, and Carla Reyes, daughter of Julian and Jamie, battling it out. We’ve seen them in previous books, and things were not good between them, and the title ‘Callous Heir’ really fits his reaction to Carla. In fact his initial reasons for rejecting Carla 3 years previously were completely justified. I was just so glad that Carla was so tenacious, she never gave up on her love for Noah, and he proved to be worth I her time and effort. The quirky, hard faced brainiac, Noah who has trouble showing emotion turns out to be a sexy, dirty talking teddy bear when it comes to Carla. As happens frequently at Trinity College, there’s the drama that comes with being rich and famous. As usual their friends and family all rally round to assist (I love seeing all the gang and catching up with all their ministrations. Enjoyable, sexy and oh so sweet. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Since we met Noah, I've been wanting his story!! Back in the day when Carla was just a teen and Noah 5 years older than her, she professed her love to him but he harshly rejected her, and that broke her fragile teenage heart. But years have passed and now they are in college at the same time. Noah's final year, and Carla's freshman year. Noah is a genius, he thinks differently than everyone. He wants to know how things work and he doesn't really get the idea of love. But, Carla is making him really feel all the things he hasn't really felt and didn't think he needed in his life.
They were really a sweet pair and I love his relationship with his family. This whole group are really close with each other, some more than others, but I loved Noah's relationship with his siblings, they were patient and sweet with him. This is a great addition to the series. Looking forward to the next one!
CALLOUS HEIR is the fifth book in The Heirs series by author Michelle Heard, written in dual POV.
I was anxious to read this story because I had some glimpse from the previous book of Noah and Carla. I loved Carla's spitfire.
Carla had her sights set on Noah since she was fifteen. Noah was twenty when she declared her love to him, and to say that the things didn't go the way Clara had hoped, is an understanding. He only saw her as a kid, and him... He was too.... much. He had a dark side, way too dominant for her.
But as soon as Clara became legal, and the fact that they lived in the same condo, all bets were off, and especially when Noah realized his true feelings for Clara. Clara & Noah were perfect for each other.
I devoured this in one sitting. I loved Carla and Noah's story.
I am still drooling over this cover to this day! I finished this baby in one sitting. I was so invested in this story, despite the fact that it wasn't emotionally gut-wrenching in the previously published books in the series. Do not however let that diminish the pure love this book portrays. Noah and Carla's story intrigued me. I wondered how they'd overcome their obstacles, overcome their attraction and their hatred. I think this one was significantly lighter than the previous books, just because once these two got together it was all sunshine and rainbows (well most of the time). Complete opposites but you know what they say about opposites. I did have a slight issue with the flow and the pace, it felt a little rushed but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I have been waiting for Carla and Noah's story, especially since Loyal Heir and man Michelle Heard did NOT disappoint! I knew that Noah was smart, but I did not realize how amazing his brain worked and how loyal and lovely Carla is. This book is not easy, like the other ones in the series, there are some MAJOR obstacles that they run into, but these heirs are loyal AF and love HARD.
All in all if you are looking for a new adult book that is SO FREAKING STEAMY, has a lot of depth and character development, this is definitely the book for you! I give it 4.5 stars and am super excited for the next one in the series!
PS: Thank you to Michelle Heard and Candi Kane PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
This may be my favorite of the Heirs yet. I’ve really looked forward to this story because I love a little angst every now and then with a side of surprise love. Noah dishes out the perfect amount toward Carla and never saw the hurricane she is coming. There were so many twists and turns in this book. I was gripping my reader tight through most of it. I could not have made up a better ending myself.
I had been looking forward to Noah's story and once again Michelle Heard did not disappoint. I laughed, I cried, I was completely surprised, and couldn't put it down. Noah's rough exterior and Carla's sassiness make for some unforgettable moments and the writing, as always, is simply astounding! Another great book in the series!
Bam! Noah is here in all his braniac, loving, fiercely protective, and naughty as sin self. It's always the quiet ones, am I right?
Carla professed her love to Noah at a young age, getting shot down, and it triggered her heartbreak. Young love and the emotional scars that go with it, made Carla the fiesty chick she is today.
Now they're living in the same quarters, going to the same school, and Carla is no longer the annoying little girl with a crush. Noah sees it but is still confused by his sudden feelings. He's our thinker, and when he can't figure out the problem with rational thinking, he's completely thrown for a loop.
This story was quite the surprise for me, especially where Noah is concerned. Let me just say the boy is HOT and NAUGHTY! Carla is her awesome, quote sayin' self, and together they could be a force to be reckon with. But the question is...will they?
This is Carla Reyes and Noah West's story and the fifth book in the Heir series. Fifteen year old Carla is shattered when she declares her love to longtime family friend Noah who is five years her senior and he tells her he's not a pedophile and to date someone her own age. Moving ahead three years, outgoing, lovable Carla and genius, facts and logic Noah are now living in the suite at Trinity College where they see each other everyday. One evening at a game night Noah notices Carla is no longer a little girl and he experiences feelings for her that he doesn't understand and can't comprehend. All Michelle's stories have dips and twists that you don't see coming and this book is no exception. I loved the way that these two characters evolved and moved forward in their developing relationship. I'm giving this book a 4.5 star rating.
This is the 5th book in this phenomenal series and is Noah and Carla’s story. Noah is Carla’s brothers’ best friend, and she has loved him for years, and when she came out and told him she was 15 and he was 20, and he callously rejected her love. Now they are both at Trinity Academy and sharing a condo, and there is not much leeway to avoid each other. Noah does redeem himself as he starts to warm to Carla in this story and he shows a softer and more protective side of himself. They may be total opposites and their journey is not an easy one to travel, but they are so perfect together. I loved Carla’s hilarious impersonations. This is a beautifully written story which is sweet, entertaining, and with undeniable chemistry, and this leads to an entertaining, riveting, and all-consuming read. I look forward to reading more from this gifted author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
As a teenager Carla knew that Noah, her brother’s friend, was her destiny however when she shared her feelings instead of it being the happy ever after that she pictured he was very clear that it was all one-sided. Since then he has kept his distance and made his disdain toward her evident.
Noah wanted nothing to do with his friend’s younger sister Carla however a few years have passed since then and they now find themselves roommates. Living together changes the dynamic of their relationship and seeing their new relationship develop is enough to make you swoon.
Carla doesn’t remember a time she hasn’t loved Noah and Noah is certainly making up for the time that they have lost. Although their journey wasn’t without its challenges there is no denying that these two have always belonged to each other.
Huuuh, Noah & Carla’s story was not what I expected!!
Carla is in love with her brothers best friend since she’s 15. But Noah rejected her, and this hurt deep. That he’s not as nice to her as to all other girls hurts even more. Until they figure out a truce. And more. It was great to see how Noah figured out his feelings. Being a genius that he is, that can be a hardship for some. But with some help he does. Whereas Carla is as bubbly as she is, Noah is calm and collected. They feel like yin & yang for me. A perfect match!!
Excited to see how the series continues! I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review
Callous Heir is the 5th book in The Heir series. This is Noah and Carla's story and we would have already met them in the previous book. These two were perfect for each other and really balanced out each other. They might not have had a great beginning but I loved seeing how Noah navigates his feelings for Carla and how they both evolve. This story was sweet, sassy and angsty with some twists added to have you at the edge of your seat. From Noah's alpha behavior to Carla's sassiness you will love these two. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance.
