Evangelistic Living

Rate this book
"The greatest act of service is to share the gospel with an unconverted person." Throughout the Bible there is a sense of urgency in evangelism. If God can urgently plead with people to turn from their sin to receive forgiveness and eternal life, why wouldn't we echo His heart and cry? Filled from start to finish with inspiring anecdotes from a lifetime of evangelism, Evangelistic Living is a powerful, practical and motivational book that will help rekindle or even, perhaps, fire your evangelistic witness for the first time.

What a lovely little book which has definitely convicted me more of something I'm already convicted by. The fact I see unbelievers every day, in the shop, on the bus, at cafés you name it and how often do I spread the gospel with them? Why would I have something as incredible as the gospel and not share it with others?

I also love the emphasis on always having tracts with you as that's something I've started doing fairly recently and I love leaving them in places I go such as in public toilets or in menus at restaurants.

This has given me the conviction and boost I needed to stop keeping it to myself and to get out there more and spread the Truth.

WOW! This was AWESOME! This was an incredibly quick and enlightening read. I am happy to say that I'll be applying some of what is in this book. Praying for seeds that are sown and reaching more people one-by-one! Roger Carswell does a great job explaining the necessity of evangelizing. He also tells stories of lots of evangelists and their experiences and their teachings.

We have to understand the Gospel! We need to talk to EVERYONE! Use the Bible, be creative, door-to-door evangelism, just awesome!

"Evangelistic Living" by Roger Carswell is a compelling and inspiring guide for Christians who seek to live out their faith through everyday evangelism. With a blend of personal anecdotes, biblical insights, and practical advice, Carswell provides readers with the tools and motivation to share the gospel in their daily lives.

Quotes
Soul-winners are not soul-winners because of what they know, but because of the Person they know, how well they know Him, and how much they long for others to know Him. (Dawson Trotman)

Jesus Christ never hid His scars to win a disciple, nor should we (Samuel Zwemer)

There is a great urgency for men and women to hear the gospel, and to repent and believe. Every person has an eternal destiny. In 100 years from now, everyone alive today will be in eternity. Heaven could not be more wonderful - Christians will be with Jesus eternally. (p, 29)

The greatest act of kindness is to tell someone the good news of Jesus; the greatest act of tyranny is to know the gospel and not share it. (p, 37)

Main Point/Summary: Roger Carswell writes quickly and to the point of evangelism. He breaks it down into a 4-step process, and utilizes the Bible, well known evangelists, and hymns to drive those points home.

Thoughts on Book: It was a great book for a quick read, but I often found myself saying, 'but how?!' ... Although, to Carswell's point I think the focus was too much on me in those moments and not on Jesus. I loved that he shared the gospel first and foremost.

Favorite Quote: "We can be so keen to share that we are not taking into account where the people are at. Listen, learn and then seek to introduce them to the gospel." P. 48

Picked this book up on a recommendation from 10ofThese (my new favorite book buying website! You should check them out!). And it was very good. It’s length meant it was a quick read, but convicting and enlightening. I really enjoyed it. It is the kind of book I look forward to giving to other people. Highly recommended

This book was an amazing short read for Christians who seek to grow in their sharing the gospel to a lost and dying world. I picked this book up and read it within a couple of hours and finished more encouraged and reminded to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ! Such a small book with a powerful message all believers need to hear!

The language is a bit awkward and some of the views antiquated. Might work for reaching the older generation but for a young person, these ideas wouldn't work. I recommend reading Before You Share Your Faith instead.

A helpful little booklet about winning souls to Christ. I would have liked more examples of conversations between evangelists and the people they encounter.

I loved reading this, lots of practical ideas for naturally sharing the gospel. The author manages to be inspiring and challenging and makes me want to speak to people about the Gospel where maybe I'd usually be somewhat apprehensive.

Definitely one that all Christians should be reading.
