Gwen and her husband Evan (aka The Hairy One) initially agreed to foster Finn to work on some behavior issues and get him ready for a furever family. She began posting Finn's weekly updates on Facebook as a way to help prospective adopters fall in love with Finn. But it became clear pretty quickly that Finn was already home. The posts had become so popular in the Vizsla community that she decided to continue sharing Finn’s view of life as a dog rescuing his difficult and confusing hoomans.
When her corporate job as an ethics, compliance and anti-corruption officer was eliminated in the early days of the COVID pandemic, Gwen decided it was time to develop Finn’s funny updates into books for everyone to enjoy. Since the first book was published in July 2020, Finn has brought laughter and joy to fans in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Brazil and even the Swiss Alps. How to Train your Hooman: A Field Guide is the third book written by Finnegan Count Smooshie Tushie. It has been transcribed by Gwen Romack and illustrated by Julie Goldman. Finn is a mix of Hungarian Vizsla, Beagle, and Pittie and full of personality.
Instead of journaling his daily adventures, this book takes a different approach. He tells his fellow canines:
"This book is for the dogs. This book is a down and dirty, real-world study of the rescue creatures we tirelessly manage, save, and train every day."
Finn has many valuable lessons on how to train hoomans. He uses his wealth of knowledge gained as a top graduate from the K9 Rescue Academy in addition to his hands-on field training of his two challenging and sometimes pawful hoomans, Mommy (“The Squishy One” or “The Devil Woman”) and his best friend, Daddy (The Hairy One).
The book is full of laugh out loud instructions for dogs. Finn uses his popular hashtags to make things even funnier. #WhosTheAlpha #You’reTheAlpha #SayItWithMe. The illustrations and graphics will bring a smile to your face as Finn encourages other dogs to become their best selves. With the way our world has been lately, we can all use a good chuckle!
Upon completion of this field guide, fellow dogs will be able to train their hoomans to properly serve them, as well as maximize treats and minimize “baffs” (baths). There is a certificate of completion at the end of the book. Readers are also given a code to access a Field Guide Companion on Finn’s website.

Dogs are human's best friend, ah what a saying.. true in its every sense. We love them to bits and we sure as hell know they do us too. They are such sweet beings who improve our dull and boring life bringing color and fulfillment to many. We humans know what they are to us but do we know what we are to them?? Finn and Gwen Romack have done it again! Laugh out loud at the training suggestions to all dogs from Finn's own repertoire of his most effective techniques! I hope that this duo continues to provide us with smiles, laughter and good feelings for years to come! This field guide will definitely come in handy!

If you love dogs, you have to read this book - and admire the pictures of Finn! Finn’s tips to other dogs on how to train their “hooman” companions are hysterical. Finn’s female “hooman,” whom he calls “The Squishy One,” transcribes Finn’s thoughts and takes endless pictures of his handsomeness. This is a feel-good book that had me laughing out loud. It’s a great gift to give other dog lovers.

The cover of the book is designed really well, a dog lover like me will definitely get attracted in the first place. The title is really apt, unique and interesting. It it a bit strange and funny at the same time which made me curious to read the book.
Finn is a mix of Hungarian Vizsla, Beagle, and Pittie
This book contains many great lessons by Finn about how to train hoomans. He has a great experience in this as he is top graduate from K9 Rescue Academy and also has experience in training two hoomans.
Overall this is really great book especially for dog lovers. After reading it we can learn a lot about how to take care of our dogs.
The book has really beautiful illustrations and graphics which makes it more interesting and engaging.
I laughed a lot while reading this book and totally enjoyed the experience. I learned a lot about what my dog needs from me.
Highly recommended from my side.

Adorable and fun
Great advice for dogs and their hoomans. Finn has clearly become an expert trainer. I laughed in recognition and could totally picture his antics. Lots of fun!

This book is hilarious! I can picture Finn as the head of any puppy classes teaching the pupsters!
As a foster mom for rescued pups and a mom of 2 rescue pups I feel this book should be given with every doggie as the hands down best way to know what they need from you!! Definitely worth the read and as always Finn’s personality is captured perfectly by his squishy one aka assistant Gwen!!
