I'm a joke. A loser. A nobody. They all see me as a game. A game they always win. A game they think I lose. Pink piggy is what they call me. Graduation was their final hoorah and it welcomed me to complete insanity.
Jackson
She believes my lies. Thinks I'm her tutor. Her friend. But I know the real girl behind the sad eyes, locked away in a mental hospital her parents threw her in. From the moment I looked into those sad eyes, I've been irrevocably in love with her. Will she love me back when she knows my secret?
KA Graham grew up in a small town in Oregon. Through the years, her love for writing and poetry, turned into something she had only dreamt of. Writing her own book. She's faced many obstacles in her life, but the love and devotion of her parents, have always kept her grounded.
She is an avid reader, blogger and does PA work for a few authors, which keeps her quite busy. Hard rock music lover and horror movie buff, with a love and appreciation for tattoos. Her addictions include copious amounts of caffeine, Chinese food and Haribos candy.
K.A. Graham does it again. Not only does she create characters so flushed out they're people I'd give anything to meet, she deals with subjects that are real, dark and life changing/destroying.
Seeing Quinn and Micah again, oh my heart! They had held such a special place in my heart since I had read their book In the Light of Day, to see them in this book not just as bit characters either. My heart sang with glee.
Reinventing Devin deals with hardhitting subject matters. Poor Devin has to literally rebuild herself from the ground up. What happens to a person when they have absolutely nothing and nobody? That was Devin. Jackson was a troubled man with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Nothing like any of this authors other male protagonists, he had all his marbles!!!
What I love about this author and her work, other than the smexy times and the intensity of her romance is that she always throws the hardest of hard at her characters and they always work through it exactly how that character should and always come out of as a better person.
Well done Ms. Graham, cannot wait to see what you do next.
What a page turning story. Devin has been quite the ringer most of her young life and hearing all she has been through is absolutely heartbreaking. When Jackson introduces himself I jump right in line with the feelings Devin has towards him and just as shocked when his secrets are revealed. We’re shown that there are people in this world that can change for the better and others that refuse to change at all. What I wouldn’t do to have the friends/family that Devin has found in her life, they have her back through thick and thin and at times their antics are absolutely hilarious. A beautifully written story with a HEA that will leave you with hope for those out there that are struggling.
You might remember Devin and Jackson from Micah and Quinn’s story. The messy friend who acted like her life was just peachy when she was around her friends and the guy who once tutored her and stole her heart. It’s in these pages we find out who Devin truly is and why she came to be such a hot mess.
Devin has been bullied her whole life and her parents are about as useless as they come. You can imagine this has caused the perfect storm in her life. She is spiraling then she meets Jackson and things start looking up. Then in true Devin’s life is a crap storm fashion that relationship faulters. Now her nights are booze and nameless guys and her core friends that keep her sane ish until Jackson reenters her life. He gives her purpose and lets her know he will never give up on her. He believes in her and hopes he has enough conviction to make her see that she is a good person.
While yes, this novella was a journey it also had that naughty K.A. Graham spark. Devin communicates best with her body it seems. Jackson is a good guy despite his upbringing but rose from those ashes. At times I felt connected to Devin. I seen my young 20s self in her actions. Just one thing to another with no real thought behind them. That’s a sign of a good story in my book. If you can make connections to characters you know those characters, come from a place of experience. Another solid story from this author.
We first met Devin and Jackson in Quinn and Micha's book and it was so nice to catch up with them again in this one. Devin has not had an easy life and when she snapped her parents effectively washed their hands of her it was a case of out of sight out of mind. The one bright spot is Jackson but even that doesn't bring her everything I wanted for her. When they are reunited so much has changed and now Jackson is going all in. I loved that Devin didn't just get a supportive group of friends they became the loving family she deserved. They are a crazy bunch that support each other no matter what, I found myself laughing at their often outrageous antics. Jackson is boyfriend goals he encouraged her and supported her through her darker moments. This is a book of hope and love in all it's forms.
I jumped at the chance to read this story not only because of the author but because the story line drew me in and I was intrigued as to follow these characters. I have not read book one (In the Light of Day) but didn't find myself lost in anyway so I would say this can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
From the first chapter I was drawn into this unique story and couldn't help but not only feel a connection to Devin but also felt I was her at some moments. She was real and raw and amazing as a woman putting up with a difficult life. I really loved reading about her.
Jackson (which also happens to be my favorite male name ever) was the prefect match for Devin but also one who pushed her in ways that only a true lover can. I really enjoyed the way he hid aspects of his motivations and how his personally really played off the page.
The plot if this story was unique in the most interesting way. I thought I was reading a documentary at times with the realness of the expectations, alone with the raw feel of the places, but also a romance in the most true form. I don't want to give anything away but I have to say of all the stories I have read lately, this one stands out in my mind and continues to replay in my mind from time to time. 4.5 stars
I loved this heartbreaking but uplifting story about finding love and loving yourself to get better and doing it for yourself. Devin and Jackson met under bad circumstances but eventually they saw how much love they shared for each other. Even after some discoveries were made.I also loved seeing Micah and Quinn. Stephanie and Chris were awesome too.
This is amaing read that i read in one sitting. This is a dark read that keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a amazing read and the writing pulls you into the story.
Devin hasn't had it easy growing up. Stephanie makes sure of that. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel when her superman arrives. But it isn't all as it seems.
Lies or secrets that are untold always have a way of messing things up. What happens when the one person you love has a secret that can break you?
There is always the family you choose to help keep you together. Doesn't matter how crazy they are. That crazy will always have your back.
Jackson knows he shouldn't fall in love with Devin but the heart has different ideas. His sister has other ideas though. Can she tear them apart or will his love win in the end?
I have really enjoyed reading this story and the loyalty between the gang. How they have each others backs and how far they will go to keep one of them safe. The chemisty between Devin and Jackson is HOT.
I can't wait to read more of this gang of misfits.
I have been waiting and looking forward to another book by K.A. Graham, and it was worth the wait, I absolutely loved it, I didnt want it to end.
This book is so well written, that you get pulled into the story with every turn of the page. I was also able to relate to the characters, Devin and Jackson and the story is told from their points of view.
It was really nice to see Quinn and Micah again and how they just fitted into this story so well. I did feel for Devin and all she had gone through which I thought the author dealt with very well.
I wanted a happy ending for her and Jackson! Did they get their happy ever after.... You will have to read this book and see!
I can highly recommend this book and author, her writing makes you want more. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I have.
Oh my gosh what a captivating and page turning read! Devin and Jackson’s story had my full attention from beginning to end. I didn’t want it to end! My heart broke for Devin and everything she went through. I really loved seeing Quinn and Micah again. A truly incredible read and I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR!
Reinventing the world of romance. KA Graham has done it again creating characters that simultaneously break and heal your heart. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions and laugh out loud moments. Devin is such a strong character, getting to see her development and discovering her space with the crew is so powerful and entertaining. Jackson is a superhero in disguise, I adore his relationship with Devin and the plot twists had my head spinning and my eyes glued to the pages wanting more. These characters are beautifully flawed and relatable and their growth and stories have forever carved their place in my heart. I'm so glad we got to see the misfit gang again and their adorable and twisted ways. The perfect balance of adorable and twisted, I cant wait for more from this author.
This is the first book I've read by this author. Anyone who knows me will know why this book appealed to me - the name Devin I instantly drew me to the book. However, this is a short story. It's quite sad, because it shows how bullying can have a lasting effect on someone. Devin and Jackson come together under unusual circumstances, but together they're one. Can they overcome their past to move forward? I guess you'll have to read to find out. It's a fast paced story. It has a few hot sex scenes. All in all, it's an interesting read.
"Have you ever had that one person who you'd die for? It's as if you need them to breathe? I have, and I just walked away from her."
You know, I like dark romances. Light doesn't exist without darkness, right? This series is right up my twisted alley.
Devin was tormented in high school, being taunted with the name "Pink Piggy". They were relentless all the way up to graduation, where it finally pushed Devin over the mental edge. Ready to reintegrate into normalcy, she meets Jackson who has signed on to be her tutor and help her transition to community college. When she realizes his link to her tortured past, is she headed for another mental break, or can she rise above it with the help of some new, but dark, friends?
Jackson Myers has loved her since he first saw her and he would love nothing more than for Devin to belong to him. But, when his secret comes out, will he be able to let her walk away, or will he follow her down the dark path she's chosen?
Great novella addition to the series! I hope there's more to come soon!
