EARTH, YEAR 2324

Melody Simmons desperately needs to fill her bank accounts with credits that could help her family climb out of near poverty. And in the Virgin Hunt Games, that means enticing as many hunters as possible to bed her. The downside? Billions of viewers from all parts of the galaxy would be watching her fall from virtue with avid interest.

Alien Damon Banscott despises everything about the Virgin Hunt Games. Except the fact he can now legally destroy his enemy in the games. He is in this only for revenge. Then Damon sees one of the beautiful hunted and, for a moment, his heart stops beating. He’ll fight to the death before allowing another hunter to touch and deflower Melody.

But while the hunters get more credits by pleasing their captive mate sexually, the hunted women received more by finding their pleasure with any of the hunters who weren’t their assigned mate.

The hunt is on…

I’m an award winning author who loves to write scorching hot contemporary and science fiction romance—stories I love to read. I love working from home, where my office window looks out over our ‘block’ of fourteen acres with gorgeous mountain views. After enjoying a stint as a foster carer for cats, I now have seven felines to entertain me, along with two dogs and two horses. But only when I’m not distracted by my three gorgeous daughters, one of whom—a teenager *shriek*—is still living at home. As for my husband…he’s still waiting for retirement.

This has got to be one of, if not the most, ridiculous books I have ever read.

Look, I wasn't going into it expecting high brow literature (it is, after all, called The Virgin Hunt Games). But I was expecting at least some attempt at a coherent plot and character arcs?

The whole virgin concept to begin with is creepy and sexist, which could've been worked around if handled well, but it just...wasn't. There were plot holes GALORE. The Olympics evolving into a galaxy wide orgy war? With games that made absolutely no sense, and seemingly had no reason for existing? A scoring system that didn't make sense and was never properly explained? All of the hunters helping Bastion for no apparent reason? I literally cannot explain the ridiculous amount of plot holes in this book.

Melody has got to be one of the most annoying, nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrL characters to ever exist. She's meant to be this tough, strong girl, but falls apart at the first hint of danger. She's scared of needless violence but wants to become a cop? Make it make sense. Everyone's obsessed with her and wants to fuck her (God only knows why), but she just, instantly falls in love with Damon, for unknown reasons (the only reasons I could gather were that he's vaguely humanoid in appearance and 6'6?).

The sex scenes were just...not good. There were a lot of them, but they weren't very well written. And apart from the foursome and voyeurism, the sex was super vanilla? Now, there's nothing wrong with vanilla sex, but so much of the emphasis of the story was about how they got more points the kinkier the sex was, and how they were getting all these points, but the scenes that were described weren't kinky at all? I'm sorry, but him going down on her and her being on top is hardly kinky. I'm also VERY uncomfortable that Damon was okay with her being with a girl but not with other guys, and that girl on girl sex is considered kinkier. Have a side of homophobia with your sexism, folks.

I just don't understand how this is a published book. It's a dubious concept to begin with (but one that if done well could've been fun), but then we have poor prose, lacklustre sex scenes, plot holes galore, character arcs that are all over the place and just ridiculous event after ridiculous event (why did you dive off a cliff to save him from drowning? You can't swim????). I'm going to end this review with my favourite line, given to us by our main character Melody after a battle with some of the hunters, because it really just encapsulates how terrible this book is. 'Did they have no respect for women?' MA'AM YOU ARE IN A VIRGIN HUNTING CONTEST?!?!?!?!?!?!

Defective is a sci-fi erotic romance novel by Mel Teshco. In the novel, Defective is the term used for someone carrying the DNA of different races. The novel is set in future Earth Year 2324. The universe has evolved. Earthlings are no longer the only known species. The Olympics have been replaced with the Virgin Hunt Games. Participants earn monetary credits based on their sexual exploits in the seven-day game.

Damon Banscott doesn’t need the money, but he does need revenge against his sworn enemy. The game will give him the opportunity he’s been waiting for. It’s only about revenge until he lays eyes on Melody.

Melody Simmons is the only female from Earth in the game. It’s all about the money until she sees Damon. Now she can earn a few credits and enjoy herself with a fine male specimen.

The characters are vividly described, and the environment is a real part of the story. I was pleasantly surprised that there is real romance and not just a series of sex scenes. Though there’s plenty of sex, it’s underscored by actual romance. Bonds are formed between lovers and friends. I absolutely loved the ending.

I got much more than I expected. Defective is a great surprise and I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. For fans of erotica this is a must-read. If explicit sex and vulgarity bother you, this is certainly not the book for you.

My thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy. However the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Buckle up for this one!

I was intrigued by the synopsis; a competition built around orgasms. I wondered how the author was going to fill a whole book with this concept, because let's face it, sex is great but I also need substance. Given that this isn't a 20-page erotica, I was doubly intrigued.

What I ended up devouring was this EXTREMELY steamy, emotionally-charged action-packed erotic sci-fi romance.

Damon is WONDERFUL. He is an all-around fantastic hero, and if all of Mel's heroes are written like him, then I think I've found a new author to fangirl over.

Melody turned out to be pretty cool. She had a few moments in the beginning where she made it clear, over and over, that she's a strong and independent woman, she's an island, she can do everything by herself, she doesn't need any help from anyone, yadda yadda yadda. But eventually, she pulled her head out of her you-know-what and realized that it's okay to accept help from other people...well, aliens...and it's okay to have feelings towards a man other than spite and resentment, especially when he says, "Let me help you."

The imagery is very well done. I felt like I could see the surroundings and feel what Damon and Melody were experiencing, including the emotions.

The level of kink is pretty high in this book, including a couple of activities that may not agree with everyone. I encountered one scene myself with things that just aren't what I'm into, but I'm happy I stuck with the book. The ending was awesome!

I already bought book 2, and I'm hoping for another wild adventure!

Damon is taking part in the Virgin Hunt Games because his enemy was there as well. While Melody was there to make as much money as she could to help her family.

There are the hunters and the hunted in these games. There are ten of each. The goal is for the hunters to capture their intended hunted and have sex with them bringing them as much pleasure as possible. The hunted try to either have sex with as many of the hunters as possible while keeping away from their intended or they can get extra points for having kinky sex. They make more money for doing different things during the games and evading capture for the full 7 days from their intended would be one of the ways to make a lot of money. The women (hunted) are there to lose their virginity on intergalactic tv and make money doing it while the hunters are there to give the women as much pleasure as possible. They get more money the more orgasms they give the hunted. Think Hunger Games but they aren't trying to kill each other. At least they aren't supposed to but Damon wants Bastion dead for killing his father.

Damon decides to first get revenge by taking Bastion's intended mate who ends up being Melody. At first all he wants is to be the first to have sex with her and keep her away from Bastion but as the days go on, he starts to feel more and more for her. Because the producers throw dangerous situations at the participants, both Melody and Damon have situations where they end up saving the other one from certain death which only strengthens their bond. Some of the hunters aren't really bad guys but hunters like Bastion and a couple of the others don't care about the hunted or playing fair. Bastion is a real jerk and Melody was lucky that Damon helped her evade him throughout the games.

Damon and Melody are great together and I really liked that underneath the gruff surface, Damon was a really good guy. He just wanted what was best for his people and to get revenge for his father's murder. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story but it was told so well that I actually felt like I was watching a tv show or movie. I really liked the characters because they were all so different and different kinds of aliens.

The Virgin Hunt Games by Mel Teshco ARC Review

I received a copy of The Virgin Hunt Games in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:

EARTH, YEAR 2324

And in the Virgin Hunt Games, that means enticing as many hunters as possible to bed her. The downside? Billions of viewers from all parts of the galaxy would be watching her fall from virtue with avid interest.

But while the hunters get more credits by pleasing their captive mate sexually, the hunted women received more by finding their pleasure with any of the hunters who weren’t their assigned mate.

Let the games begin…

“It’s okay to be scared. It’s when you don’t feel fear anymore that you need to worry.”

Okay, first off. The concept of giving away your innocence for money is kinda weird. Okay, scratch that, extremely wrong.
However. I actually didn’t mind this book at all. The storyline was pretty good, good characters. Plot was a little confusing at first but built itself back up after a bit. It was exciting though. I would definitely read any other books that are set in this universe, hopefully with the same characters. Possibly Fallon and Galeisha. *hint hint*

4/5 Stars!

This book it was not exactly how I imagined it or what I expected that the story is going to be. I really like it. There’s action scene, there’s romance scene. I also fascinated that the author has a very creative way descibing the scenes. The side characters are interesting, the story is fast-paced and intriguing. Bonds are formed between lovers and friends. I absolutely loved the ending.
I got much more than I expected. Since the ending didn’t have cliffhanger so I am excited to read the second book. Will there be more Damon and Melody?

I was given an e-ARC via @NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Virgin Hunt Game reminded me of an alien Hunger Games with sex. A steamy, erotic novel, the story follows Melody, a virgin who enters the game to get money for her family. Damon is an alien prince who enters the game seeking revenge on another male participant and falls in love with Melody. Melody knows that the more sex and orgasms she has, the more money she wins. However, will her feelings for Damon stop her from winning the game? Other obstacles and contestant impede Melody and Damon’s success, and they must work together to survive the Virgin Hunt Games.

The instant connection between Melody and Damon is steamy, as are their intimate scenes. The kinkier the sex, the more points Melody receives in the game, and she is pretty willing to do whatever she must to win the game and get money to her family. Damon is intent on revenge and isn’t prepared for the instant-love he feels for Melody.

I liked the setting of the games, which is a multi-level structure with different themes, obstacles, and dangers on each floor. The contestants must survive (and have as much sex as possible) for the seven-day game, and each day is filled with non-stop threats. The animals, contestants, and setting are unique and vividly described. I did wish there were a bit more development in terms of the plot and character, especially in regards to Damon, Melody, and the friends they make in the games. That being said, it is a creative and quick read with a lot of action, good imagery, and vivid sex scenes.

I think people who enjoy erotic sci-fi romance with a variety of characters and some spicy sex scenes will enjoy this story. However, abuse, potential sexual assault, sexual threats, manipulation, and violence might trigger some readers. Thanks to Entangled: Scorched and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Survivor meets Hunger Games meets Big Brother meets Sex Club - that's my take on this sci-fi adventure! It's insta-lust/insta-love for Damon and Melody who are not supposed to be matched in the Virgin Hunt games but end up together. Virgins (the hunted) get credits for orgasms, the kinkier the sex the better and if they end up with hunters who aren't their matches, even better for them! Trapped in a multi-level tower with dangers at every turn, and cameras following the participants, Damon and Melody hook up quickly (goodbye virginity! Hello credits!) and then have to survive the week in one piece. Damon's mortal enemy, Bastion, is also in the games and he's the one who is supposed to 'catch' Melody so that adds for extra stress for both. Melody has a fear of water (so naturally they end up on the water level) and escaping the various situations and figuring out who are allies and who are enemies is all part of the game. Plenty of sex and violence and not everyone makes it out alive but our couple gets their happy ever after. If you're looking for an adventurous and steamy escape, you'll enjoy this one.

Content warning for attempted sexual assault; some gruesome deaths.

If you're looking for an erotic, alien, romantic...fairytale, look no further!

The Virgin Hunt Games is sexy, action-packed, and even has a happy ending...swoon! There's a prince, bad-ass female, and plenty of steamy scenes, everything you could want in an erotic alien romance. The side characters are interesting, the story is fast-paced and intriguing, and it's all tied up with a sexy bow ;)

Thanks so much to Entangled Publishing for providing an e-copy for me to read and honestly review. I devoured this one!

fun

Damon and Melody were both listed as defects in the Virgin Hunt Games because they were not pure bred. She was human with a trace of alien and he was alien with a human mother. She wasn’t the one he had officially picked but she was the one on his agenda which backfired. Damon had to fight Melody’s chosen male and all the obstacles that the event threw at them plus almost all of the other males in the competition. Danger, death, doubt, intrigue, lies, sexual frustration and fulfillment were among the things found in this fun read.

I was given a copy of NetGalley's The Virgin Hunt Games in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely mine.
WARNING: violence, brutal and horrific deaths, threats of rape, sexual violence and aggression.
Rated: R
The year is 2324. Earth and humans are not the only species that make up the galaxy. The life we know has changed. A new challenge was introduced called the Virgin Hunt Games. The hunters, males who are warriors, creeps, friends hunt the hunted, the virgin females. Each hunter and hunted are paired together as mates. The males must attempt to take the virginity of their mated females while she tries to “bed” the other hunters in a multi-level arena where each level is a world of its own with life threatening challenges and contestants. They must stay alive for seven days to be released.
Melody Simmons accepts to participate for credits, or money, to avoid her family's farm being sold. She doesn’t care who she sleeps with, as long as she stays clear from her assigned mate. Damon Banscott has no interest in money. He has another agenda he wants to fulfill. But when Melody and Damon connect eyes, they know they need each other. Can Melody stay away from her mate with the help of Damon? Can they live through that nightmare together?
The Virgin Hunt Games is one heck of a fun book to read. Typically, I wouldn’t be down to read a sci-fi erotic romance, but I'm thrilled I did for this one. It kept me on the edge of my seat, making me wonder what was going to happen from one day to the next. Normally, the female is a stereotypical woman where you can guess her next move almost every time. Melody is the complete opposite. She's hard-core, and she has survival skills while being intelligent and talented. Damon is unique. He has traits not found in humans, but they become traits that help him and Melody stay alive. They’re love blooms differently from the challenges they face and, may I say, becomes extra steamy.
There’s plenty of sex scenes. But it’s not overly done. The plot fits perfectly where there is a lot happening; the balance is just to be interesting and a page turner. The ending was quite obvious, but there were many differences to keep it interesting. The only downfall is I wish more levels of the arena were uncovered. It was a beautiful landscape so I can only imagine how much the other levels were magnificently haunted.
If you love The Hunger Games but need a spicy replacement, you should read this book. Also, if you need sexy books to read, you might want to try The Virgin Hunt Games. I promise you won't be sorry.

I can tell you, when I read the blurb I had a “huh” moment...but then I read the blurb again and said...hmmm this might be something interesting to read, it sounded different and it was. Take the hunger games, add the best alien fighters, violence and lots of steam, all for credits (bonus credits for kink) and you have the Virgin Hunt Games.

The Olympics have been replaced with the Virgin Hunt Games. Virgins (the Hunted) and the strongest fighters (the Hunters) are randomly paired together in the Virgin Hunt Games. The Hunter’s goal is to sleep with their assigned virgin to gain credits (money), the Hunted’s goal is to sleep with anyone but their assigned “mate”. Orgasms = credits! All for this to ensure the best viewer ratings.

Most are blackmailed into the games, but some are trying to escape poverty. like Melody, and some are there to avenge a great wrong, Damon. All are just trying to survive the seven days locked in a Tower facing unspeakable challenges! And just like today’s reality tv, the more drama the more viewers, and this Virgin Hunt is chock-full of drama!

This story was wild, unique, full of bloody challenges, fights, and steam. I am still a little amazed by the sheer originality of this story. What would you do to save your family from poverty, avenge a wrong? Would you be willing to risk it all in the Virgin Hunt Games?

I enjoyed this story. I connected to the characters, sometimes I wanted to smack them on their heads, but I felt their plight, and I understood the rules going into this book so I let some things slide in this book that I wouldn’t generally let slide in others, but it was all due because of the game.

I cheered for the good guys and booed at the bad guys. I cringed at some of the challenges, and I enjoyed a Hunter and Hunted becoming a team. It’s a messed up, dark themed book, but if you want unique, dark, and bloody...WITH a HEA! I recommend you give this a try! I personally have read nothing like it!

What can I say? I really wanted to try a sci-fi erotic novel, and with "The Virgin Hunt Games" you are guaranteed that you will get this :)
Already by looking at the title and the description, I guess everyone gets a feeling of what to exect from this story. A lot of steam (oh my, oh my), adventure, an emotional rollercoaster.
If you are looking for poetic, deep conversations, well, I guess the title should be hint enough ;)

I really did enjoy it - was exactly how I imagined it or what I expected that the story is going to be. Was also fascinated that the author has a very creative way descibing the steamy scenes in different variations - so yes, there is a lot (I mean duh, title and so) but it never gets boring - neither for Melody nor the reader.

And although there is this main theme throughout the book, there is also a storyline, which was beautifully written and plays around with pure action vs feelings, friendship vs lover etc. This I also did enjoy as it is never black or white.

Overall, it was a fun read - probably going to get myself book 2 as well ;)

****

Also, was soll ich nur schreiben?

The Virgin Hunt Games by Mel Teshco is a sexy, action packed book. The book focuses on Melody Simmons and Damon Banscott. Melody is human and desperately needs money to help her family. In order to get the money, she volunteers for the Virgin Hunt Games, which means she needs to entice as many hunters to bed her as possible to get more credits. The downside to this is that millions of viewers are going to watch her fall from grace.

Enter alien Damon Banscott. Even though he hates everything to do with the games, his nemesis is going to be there, and he is out for revenge. The only plus side is Melody, who he is instantly attracted to the moment he sees her and vows to help her get as many credits as he can…as long as she’s his!

There is a lot going on in this book, from us learning who Damon really is and why he is out for revenge, the many sexy scenes between him and Melody as well as the many obstacles that are in the way as they try to play the game and survive. Melody is a strong woman and knows what she wants, and I liked that she didn’t necessarily fawn over Damon but got his help when she needed it and used her own cunning when she didn’t. The interaction between Damon and Melody was great as was learning about other characters and where they were from. As this is an erotica, there are definitely a lot of sexy scenes with some elements of kink.

Overall, an enjoyable alien read!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

If you like your books with smoking hot sex, then this is for you. But it also has a romance that is sweet as well as sexy. The Virgin Hunt Games are a violent and sex filled Games where normal rules of society doesn’t apply. Staying alive and obtaining credits by having sex is the name of the game. It really is reality TV gone mad and the madness has gripped the universe. Thank goodness it’s only every four years.

The players are there for various reasons and these are exploited by the organisers. Melody is there to get her family out of poverty, Damon for revenge. Staying together during the Games makes sense especially initially. But as time goes on more feelings become involved.

I loved the building relationship between the two main characters. It’s intense both physically and emotionally, and love how they save each other over and over. I also liked the interaction with their allies.

The futuristic world building is interesting including the racism those of mixed alien races face. Despite being in the future it exists but there’s hope with Earth being more open to diversity. I found it relevant to now and a good addition to the story because it has shaped Damon’s character.

This was so much fun!! I LOVE alien romances, and this is quite the unique one!
Okay so I have no idea if the author was trying to get this across, but I would probably describe this book as an adult, steamy, alien version of the hunger games 😂And I love all of those things so this was highly entertaining!! I really loved the talk about different alien species, but I do wish we got to see first hand our hero's planet and culture. I thought that would have been great to read about!!

I did think that the couple fell in love way too fast for my liking, but what else can you expect when reading a book that takes place only over seven days?

I found this book to be super fun, steamy, and action-packed and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series (if there will be one!) :)

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. It was hot, it had intrigue, it kept me interested the entire time.

Both leads were really appealing. They were both badass and had feelings. They stepped on each other’s toes a little bit that felt normal. The world building was great. I would love to have heard more and will definitely read more. It was a good balance of do what it took to survive and keeping true to ones self. The sex was frequent, but they weren’t hugely drawn out scenes so it was back to the story smoothly.

There is 1 group scene with outside OW/OM sex, for those who need it spelled out. I couldn’t find that answer before I read it. I normally don’t want that, but here it was incorporated well, all parties involved. It had some build up so you can skip the chapter, just read the last few lines before starting the next chapter.

"4 out of 5 stars. This novel was a mixture of what I expected and what I had not expected. Also, even though I had not read the Hunger Games series I had watched the movie versions and can definitely say that this novel felt like an adult sexualized version of the Hunger Games – game-wise only as there was no similar plots – with a Cinderellaesque twist to it. THIS NOVEL WAS SOOOOOOOOOO HOT!!! Yet, there were a lot of ..."

I have never been one for sci-fi, so I certainly haven’t read erotica type sci-fi but I actually really enjoyed this book? Honestly, I thought strictly because of the title this wasn’t going to be good, yet here I am, wanting more? I absolutely ADORED Melody and Damon. I loved their relationship, how it built. The plot moved well and was well thought out. Each character had a purpose and a fully developed plot. I’m not sure if I’m going to deep dive into the sci-fi erotica world, but I will definitely be reading more books in this series.

Its usually hit or miss with books like this. You know its going to be smut, which I am proudly here for, you just hope that its well written with a decent plot. This was a very well written, dirty version of the Hunger Games. Is it wrong to say this is plausible? Not necessarily the murderous part, but I definitely believe that the human race would watch sexcapades like this. This is well written smut, and if kink is your thing, definitely give this a read.

urvial, sex, and betrayal in this reality fantasy adventure experience.

If you love steamy erotic sci-fi then this book is for you. Not for the faint of heart as there is a heavy balance
of scorch and descriptive scenes when characters are fighting for the prize.

New and unique plot line with the games. It was a mix of The Hunger Games and Ice Planet Barbarians.

“So those are the rules, folks. The women have seven days to prove their mettle. Seven days in which to evade capture from their drawn hunter…or to succumb to ecstasy in another hunter’s arms. I only hope all our hunters have exceptional willpower. They’re going to need it.” The crowd exploded with an energy that enveloped Melody and the rest of the women like a force field. For a moment, exhilaration held Melody under its spell, and she was no longer frightened. She itched to run, to hide, and to fight for her place in the competition. She glanced at the other women. They, too, were ready to begin, their eyes flashing and hands clenching and unclenching. Rebecca fisted her long-nailed fingers and pumped her hand into the air. “Then how about we get these Games started!”

“Let the games begin!”

The Virgin Hunt Games by Mel Teshco is a fantastic sci-fi romance with aliens, action, adventure, danger, violence, strategy, agendas, secrets, drama, politics, revenge, hidden identity, two different worlds, opposites attract, insta-lust, insta-love, abuse, discovery, tension, suspense, mystery, sizzle, and so much more.
I was swept up into an action-packed adventure that had me flipping the pages, reading avidly to find out what would happen next. I love it when a book can capture my attention and imagination so fully that I lose all sense of self, time, and place. This book did that for me.
The world-building was masterful, clever and creative- with the author’s attention to detail and rich descriptions bringing the whole story to life before my eyes.
Melody is desperate to help her family escape poverty and so finds herself on the biggest show in the Galaxy, The Virgin Hunt Games, where she has the opportunity to earn the credits she needs to fill her bank account to the brim and change their lives forever. The games take place over seven days with six dangerous scenarios to overcome during the ‘games’. Each one more difficult and deadly than the last. The rules seem simple enough, but can she make it through till the end?
This is a must read for lovers of sci-fi, alien romance, or space adventure stories.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Mel Teshco!
