So You Think You're a Bookworm
Ever find yourself mainlining coffee at work in an effort to stay awake after a late night with a page-turner you just couldn’t put down? Mildly amusing little book extolling the joys, sorrows, issues, and/or oddities that accompany being a bookworm in the 21st century. With chapters featuring such quirky titles as 'The Romantic vs. The Sexophile,' 'The One Who Reads (Too Much?) Crime,' and 'The One Who Definitely Judges a Book by its Cover,' along with numerous pop quizzes (like the opening quote), it's not meant to be taken too seriously, yet the dedicated readers - like many of us right here on GR - will likely find something relatable / recognizable in the text . . . like canceling plans to stay in with a newly acquired book. 😉

Super quick read that you can get through during work breaks. It was quite humorous and I could relate to a number of the bookworm options (Especially the bookseller), but honestly not a book I'd ever pick up again.

Cute little book! Can’t lie I got a little bored on a few pages but loved the quizzes that were included and the pages that related to genres I loved!

Absolutely adorable and pretty spot on with most of the different genres of bookworm. I’m so the dude about to get creamed by the breaking bookcase. 4, good gift for a fellow bookworm, stars.

Today, I did something I havent done in quite a long time - I bought a book and then sat down and read the book, Right out of the bag.
No shelving.
No TBR pile.
No "well, maybe when the time is right".
None of that.
I paid money for the book, took it home, sat down and read it.
Of course, given that the book is about what I am - a Bookworm (dont believe me - check out the stats in my profile).
This is a humorous look at what is to be a bookworm. A book lover. A book hoarder. The person who reads - whether at home, at work, while traveling, on vacation, or where-ever the mood strikes. (True story - I once was spotted reading a book at a major league baseball game. I was above the dug-out. The game was between innings and I brought out my book, to read and pass the time. And the camera man saw me, and put me on the jumbo-tron. And the local station put me on the air - with the talking heads saying "The games so exciting, the fans are reading books". People around me started laughing, and pointing, and shaking, to see. And my coworkers, friends and parents of my students, either at the game or at home watching it, were "THAT'S R_____ !!! I KNOW HIM!!! And yeah, it doesnt surprise me he is reading a book at a baseball game". The next week was interesting , to say the least).
The book looks at profiles of readers - the YA, the Sci Fi, the True Crime and Forensic obsessed; the book clubbers and reviewers; the fakers and the "I dont have time" ers too.
I would say if you know a book worm - get this book for them.
Unless the book worm they know is me - then skipped it. Really, I have my own copy. I dont need others.

Tbh, I just offhandedly picked this up to read (because I got it as a birthday present awhile ago and I’m in the middle of moving so I’m *trying..* to downsize my book collection) but this ended up being a very quick and entertaining read - it was spot on with the various bookworm stereotypes and it was fun to think about friends and family who fit into certain ones 😅

What a busy summer! This is the first book I've read in a few months, but it only took like an hour so it doesn't really count I suppose. 😅
I was killing time in a B&N and picked this up for $2. Unlike most other attention grabbing books, this one is actually full of laughs on every page. Totally brought cheer to my day, would recommend to any booklover.

1. I’m not binge reader. Must take breaks between books in a long series.
2. I’m the book club boozer type of person (read the book, but always has a drink on book club nights)
3. I’m a book adulterer (reading more than 1 book at a time)
4. I slightly judge books by their covers…although I read just about everything
5. Thoughts going into a bookstore: love the smell of books! How can I afford more?! Who needs sleep…I can read all these!
6. Definitely not a book reviewer…give stars but hardly ever leave a review
7. Very rarely do I DNF a book…a series is an entirely different thing
8. No one can ever tell me that the characters aren’t real
9. I like both my physical books and my kindle

I was expecting a collection of stereotypes, but this is too much. The section for fanfiction writers assumes that all fanfiction is slash fiction, that all romance fiction is sexual, and that true bookworms mostly read books that win awards or feature on talk shows. The profile for "bookseller" isn't even about bookworms who work at bookstores, but is rather about stereotypical customers. "Fantasy" as a genre isn't included, even though the author makes plenty of "Harry Potter" jokes and includes a picture of George Martin in "The Fan" section.
The only reason I gave this book 3 stars instead of 2, is because of the "reviewer" section, which is true enough. I was, after all, composing this review in my head while I read that section. It's still off-base, painting with a broad brush.

It was cute. Will I recommend it to friends? Probably not because I am currently thinking about how far I could be into another book if I hadn’t read this one. It was a series of essays for people who love to read books and a couple of things made me chuckle. However, they dealt in extremes and I tend to hover in the middle. Why did I read it? It was a gift from someone I love. It’s important to me to honor their thoughtfulness.

A quick book to see if you are a Bookworm, of course if you bought this, you probably are. There are chapters that list: Fan-Fiction, Bookshop queries (which sounds like what we get at library branches). Eleven people you find in the Book Club. The book club chapters take up a few extra chapters.
All is all take it with some humor, unless you are these kind of people. Really all in good fun.

I couldn't find my bookworm personality type in this one, maybe I'm a hybrid lol. This was a fun and quick read. I would recommend reading this if you need a distraction or just a break from your normal reads. It's a fun read while on the train, bus, or waiting in line at the DPS.

Laugh out loud book about 20 types of book lovers. I relayed to quite a few. The last few years, I can relate to “the adulterer”. Too many books started and then I get distracted. Listening to books more snd more now because I can listen and clean, take a walk, drive, etc. Good quick read!

An ok read. I expected more, honestly. Just seemed a little too cynical and opinionated. Almost felt like every description for each type of bookworm was an insult. I guess I wanted it to be more whimsical.

Humor: 3/5. Got a bit of snark, sass, and ability to laugh at self and others, not mean spirited.

Cute, fun little book to pass the time. Someone suggested this as a bathroom read and I can definitely get on board with that. Made me giggle a few times and definitely related as a reader.
