The kingdom of Tourm has enjoyed peace for fifty years, but the head that wears the crown grows feeble. Unrest rules inside the kingdom and border skirmishes have become common. The nation of Kendala to the south marches on Tourm. The frantic masses whisper... war.
Read an authentic tale of Orrick pan Pallaton by Adam TS Conlon.
This is a brutal story of duty and triumph in a fantastic adventure. Orrick is a new knight and untested; he must find grit to face deadly challenges on and off the battlefield. Political schemes and dangers in the dark threaten him, while others would like him dead.
The kingdom of Tourm is in turmoil, and Orrick must discover the meaning of valor to survive.
Delight in a fresh full-length book series with four new books coming this year. This first eye-opening novel "The Threat" will give you a world you won't want to leave. The second book "Siege and Storm" releases this March. In July, the third book of the series "Feast for Flies" excites. Then read the spectacular finale "Crown and Conflagration" this December!
The world of Tourm unfolds around you, detailed with notes about the territories and distinct cultures that compose the kingdom. Newly-graduated knights, teenaged squires, and princes on the threshold of adult responsibilities struggle to understand the people and lands around them, old rivalries and prejudices, and the places they’ll fit in and make their marks. Following alongside Orrick and Brandt, as well as Armitage and later Sylvia, felt friendly and companionable—you understood their troubles and supported their attempts through several harrowing scenes. Although the plot leans towards the political, dialogue focused more on uncovering hints of magic and mystery than detailing treatises and subterfuge. The pacing keeps the story moving smoothly and briskly, pulling you onwards and onwards.
Hopefully we can read more of the same in the other books in this series! March’s release cannot come too soon!
This is a creditable work by a new author. While it falls under the fantasy genre, it read to me more as an historical fiction piece. The characters and setting are well-developed, with an exquisite attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and look forward to the sequels.
This book truly transports you to a world of fantasy and leaves you wanting more! The author paints both a descriptive and complex world full of its own legends, religions, biases, and traditions. It is very easy to get swept up in the story as you are introduced to the world through, the newly knighted, Orrick's eyes. I enjoyed watchimg Orrick's internal struggles as he accepts his new position and his personal development as the book goes on. This is the first in what is sure to be an incredible series.
