Larry, a playful pup, loves to go on vacation with Pete. In this edition they visit Pete's grandparents on a farm. When a bookmobile arrives, Pete is excited to select a stack of books. As Pete reads, he doesn't notice that Larry, in search of a snack, wanders into the bookmobile.

Larry's adventure begins when the librarian drives away, not realizing Larry is on board, to return the bookmobile to the city library. Larry, searching for Pete, soon finds himself lost inside the library, where he is surrounded by busy librarians and patrons enjoying books. But will he ever find his way back to his best friend Pete?

This is a Children's book that I read to my twin boys. I found this book to be cute and fun to read. The pictures are so fun and cute. I love the storyline in this book, but I did find some of the pages to be a little wordy for a children's book. My boys did really enjoy this book. I also love that this book has a library in it. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Little Bigfoot) or author (Eric Ode) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. This was an adorable book where there's a cute dog who gets lost in a library. He then explores the library. This is like a perfect book- with dog and books. Illustrations were beautiful too. Would highly recommend!

Eric Ode’s Larry Gets Lost in the Library is an easy-to-read celebration of libraries starring a super cute and curious pup. John Skewes’ illustrations are a lovely complement to the writing!

Larry is an adorable dog who loves going on vacation with his owner, Pete. The two friends are spending the summer at Pete’s grandmother’s farm. But, a bookmobile soon arrives and the books grab Pete’s attention. He doesn’t realize when Larry sneaks onto the bookmobile in search of a snack. Poor Larry gets trapped in the bookmobile and ends up alone in the city. He goes on a grand adventure looking for Pete in the city library. Will this little pup find his way back to his best friend?

Larry is a sweet and adventurous dog. I really loved seeing the library through his eyes! The book’s rhyming narration is catchy and fun to read. It flows naturally and quickly and will definitely keep your little ones’ attention! The plot is wonderfully simple but entertaining and sweet. I really like the book’s gentle encouragement of an appreciation for reading and libraries.

I love John Skewes’ bright, softly-coloured, and adorable full-page illustrations! There’s a fun touch of whimsy on every page, especially in the colours of the background characters and the presentation of the panels. I really like Larry’s depiction and his expressive little face. I also particularly liked the illustrations where Larry explores the different sections of the library.

Larry Gets Lost in the Library is a great and fun picture book for young readers. This is my first book in the series and I’m excited to check out the others!

Love this latest addition to the Larry Gets Lost series! I love how they show the bookmobile as the answer to rural libraries. My kids had no idea!! They love books about dogs and this one was engaging, rhyming and beautifully illustrated. What a great read.

This was my first introduction to Larry, a dog who seems to get lost a lot! In this picture book, Larry's best friend Pete goes into the Bookmobile to get books and Larry climbs inside, wanting a book for himself. Larry gets locked in the van and driven back to the library in the city.

The people in the library are reading books (complete with Dewey Decimal numbers), and the two library workers are both depicted as very old. As a librarian, I wish they had diversified the staff a little more. The bookmobile driver is a young black man, but the two inside workers are old white people. This is not what libraries look like!

I like how the people in the city and library are painted all one color, like green, purple or blue. This creates a colorful background and also doesn't assign race to background characters.

Larry is adorable and has a short run through the library before being discovered be the bookmobile driver and returned to his rural farm.

Recommended for animal lovers and library lovers.

Larry is a cute dog who loves going on vacation with his owner, Pete. They are spending the summer at Pete’s grandmother’s farm. When the bookmobile stops by, Pete is soon busy looking at the books. He doesn’t realize when Larry sneaks onto the bookmobile looking for a snack, and when it leaves, poor Larry is trapped in the bookmobile. He ends up in the city alone, eventually in the library. He wanders all around the library seeing the librarians and all the books. Will this little pup find his way back to his best friend? This was a cute story that my granddaughter really enjoyed. First, she didn't know about bookmobiles so we talked about them. Then she thought it was funny that Larry was in the library and no one seemed to notice him. We talked about what she would do if her dog was missing, and how they would find him. We enjoyed the story and all the wonderful illustrations. Of course I loved the idea of a story that had a young boy so enthralled by books that he didn't see what was going on around him. Apparently Larry Gets Lost is a a series, so we will see what else we can find. I recommend this one. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinons shared are my own.

What a wonderful illustrated book! Pete (the boy) and Larry (his dog) are at Grandma's farm when the Bookmobile comes. Larry feels left out so he goes aboard and finds himself in the city, in the big library building, and taking the grand tour! Did I mention that the illustrations are brilliant? Terrific for any age and perfect for ESL.

Larry Gets Lost in the Library is a fun picture book set to release on August 3, 2021. The story follows a puppy named Larry who’s search for a book turns into an adventure that takes him to the city library.

A young boy named Pete is visiting his grandparents on the farm for the summer and his puppy, Larry, is with him. One day the bookmobile stops by the farm and Pete comes out with books to read. Larry wants a book to read too! But puppies aren’t allowed in bookmobiles. No one sees Larry sneak inside, and, soon after, he gets carted away on an adventure to the city as the bookmobile returns to the library.

Larry Gets Lost in the Library is a rhyming picture book. Its simple, upbeat rhythm pairs well with the pace of this light-hearted adventure. Each setting mirrors the changing pace as the story progresses, shown through playful pictures depicting the movement and details children love. And what a treat to see a wet puppy join the children for the library’s story time!

I love that in the end, Pete knows what Larry wants and he chooses a book in the bookmobile that’s just right for his pup.

Larry Gets Lost in the Library would be great as a read aloud or for newly independent readers. The story offers parents and teachers a chance to discuss farm life, library etiquette, and strategies for what to do if you get lost.

I had never read a Larry book before, but I'm always down to read books set in libraries, so when I saw it on NetGalley, I figured I'd go ahead and request it.

Pros: -I adore the art style used. It's bright and colorful, and the strongest part of the book. I even went looking to see if John Skewes sells art prints somewhere, I like his style so much.
-There's one page that talks about different books people are reading and the Dewey number where you could find that kind of book is included in the design.
-There's a page that mentions things in a library besides books, (computers and magazines)
-A Bookmobile plays an important role in the story.

Cons:-The writing is passable, but I think because of the need to rhyme, and the dog perspective, it couldn't really get into libraries that much. Larry spends about as many pages getting to the library as he does in the library.

Overall, I can't say I'd necessarily recommend this book as a core purchase, but if you're already a fan of Larry or can't get enough books about libraries, it's worth picking up. 3.5/5

Larry the dog is sad when his best friend, Pete, settles down by a tree to read the books he checked out from the library bookmobile. Aren't there any books for Larry? Or, at least a snack? He hops on the truck to find out, but, oh no, the door closes and off he goes! When the truck finally stops, Larry hops out into the rain (it is Washington State after all) and he squeezes through the book return determined to find Pete. (Many odd things have been found in the Everett Public Library book drop, but I don't think wet dog has been one of them yet!) He searches the sorting room, the reading room, the stacks.....the computers are busy, but there are lots of magazines to read. The bookmobile driver is relieved to finally find Larry enjoying Storytime and gives him a ride back to the farm, and his friend, Pete. What a happy reunion! And what does Pete have for Larry? His very own book to read. Kids, and this adult, will enjoy colorful illustrations and a story in rhyme about the magic of reading and the fun you can find at your local library. I've been a long time fan of the "Larry Gets Lost" series, incorporating titles like “Larry Gets Lost Under the Sea” and “Larry Gets Lost in Philadelphia” into science and social studies units in my classroom. The author, Eric Ode, and illustrator, John Skewes, continue the adventures of boy and pup with their latest entry into the series: "Larry Gets Lost in the Library". During a summer trip to his grandparents' farm, Pete and his dog Larry have the opportunity to visit a bookmobile. When the bookmobile inadvertently leaves with Larry still on board, Larry finds himself stuck at the main branch of the library in the city. Young readers familiar with Larry's adventures will know that Pete eventually reunites with his pet. Before that though we get a dog's eye view of the wonders that can be found in the library. I highly recommend this book for library patrons of all ages. I myself bought two copies, one for my classroom, and the other for the community bookmobile that I run with fellow teachers.

Well, this was humbling, inasmuch as I'd never heard of the notables creating this series, and never heard of the series itself, all thirty or so other titles. But enough about my lack of expertise, where do you start with that of those behind this book? This was a perfect rhymed narrative of a farmboy's dog who jumps into the mobile library van and ends up back at HQ, watching people get the best out of their library. This is not just a perfect lesson in the uses and fun of a library – it's not just stuffy old women ripening while they choose a romance for the week – but a really good and enjoyable drama. OK, so books that aim to encourage library use may not be exactly unique, but when they are as successful as this there's no reason to complain. Except... how did it take thirty books for these people to make theirs? Priorities, guys!

I requested this eARC from NetGalley because the cover was so appealing. However, the rest of the book did not live up to the cover. Larry the dog hops into the bookmobile and ends up at the library in the city. Although Larry is adorable, the text of the book was not very appealing and did not make the library seem like an appealing place either. Why don't any of the library workers or patrons notice a dog roaming around? Also, why are the background characters in the Illustrations strange colors like purple, green, and blue? After reading the story, I found out Larry getting lost is a whole series I have never heard about. Hopefully he makes the major cites and attractions in the other books more appealing than the library in this one.

A new inductee to the "Larry is Lost" series, I shared Larry Gets Lost in the Library with my 5 year old son and we settled in for a charming story about an adventurous pup who seeks out his own read, hitching a ride on the visiting bookmobile and winding up lost within the city Library. Vivid colors and gentle, friendly illustrations truly held Larry's story together and kept us engaged to the resolution. It was a light easy book, good for early readers and animal/book loving grade-schoolers.

This is a very cute rhyming story for preschool children. It features Larry who is a curious puppy. When the bookmobile comes to his farm, he hops on the truck only to find himself in an unfamiliar city. How will he get home? What will happen until then? Young children will enjoy finding out. Along the way, they will become familiar with many of the activities and services that a library offers.

The illustrations are engaging and go well with the text. Young listeners will have fun looking at them as they hear the story.

This is the latest story in the Larry gets lost series. This time he gets lost in the library. The bookmobile comes to the farm and guess who gets locked inside? Larry takes a ride into the city and straight to the library. But no dogs are allowed inside but it is cold and wet. Larry has to find a way inside. Then he discovered the book drop. He pushes and squeezes inside. He explores all the nooks and crannies of the library. Soon the bookmobile driver finds his little friend and returns him home again. Everyone at the farm was happy to see Larry return home.

Eric Ode has done it again with his newest contribution to the Larry Gets Lost series. This time, in Larry Gets Lost in the Library, Larry finds himself lost in an unusual location. While previous adventures have taken him to such places as San Diego and New York, this time Larry's adventure takes him a little closer to home. As with the other books in the series, this newest edition is a beautifully written and illustrated classic sure to thrill fans of the series. The only question left to be asked is, where will Larry get lost next?

Adorable! Love that the verses rhyme. Its so much fun reading children's books when the text flows so well. This book was a lovely way to introduce children to the different roles and jobs people provide inside the library. Sorting, repairing, shelving, story time.

I would love to (plan to) buy this book for my neice/nephew.

This is an adorable story about Larry's adventure lost in the library. When Pete and Larry visit Pete's grandparents they explore a bookmobile. The librarian drives away not realizing Larry is still on board and he is soon surrounded by busy librarians and patrons enjoying books. The illustrations are charming and the story will surely be enjoyed by all readers. It is a colorful and lively tale about friendship and books and who could ask for anything more?

I was not aware that this is part of a series. Apparently, Larry has a habit of getting lost. I definitely enjoyed this one. My favourite line: "If he can't have a book, then he might find a snack." That definitely resonated with me haha. Sums up my feelings whenever I browse through my bookshelf. The illustrations were nice, the narrative rhymed, and the story is cute. Who doesn't want to read a book about a friendly and adventurous dog that gets lost in a library.

I read an arc of this book from NetGalley with my 4.5 year old. He too likes to search out mischief so he really enjoyed all of Larry’s antics. He was enthralled with the adventure and with each page wanted to know what Larry would do next. The colorful illustrations taking Larry from the farm to the library were engaging. The book was an appropriate length for the age bracket and still led the child on what felt like a journey.

Nothing better than a good book except when it’s with your buddy. Here we have a little doggy go looking for his own book but ends up going on an adventure instead. Kids will like that even though Larry goes wandering through a big library, he finds help to get him back where he belongs. And he doesn’t get in trouble for it either! Short and sweet story.

Larry Gets Lost in the Library by Eric Ode is such a cute book! Pete and his dog, Larry, are excited for the book truck to stop so they can get new books. Larry accidentally gets stuck in the truck that takes him to the library and he has to find his way back to Pete! The story flowed nicely and there was great rhyming. The illustrations were vibrant and easy to follow!

This is a charming little picture book about a dog who stows away in the bookmobile and ends up the library. With rhyming text, the reader is introduced to some of the basics of what one might see in a library. Not my favorite book about the library, but a worthy addition to any collection.

With vibrant colors, a cute pup and an endearing story, this book delivers an amazing read. Larry is quite the pup. He hops on the bookmobile for an adventure. This was my first Larry Gets Lost book and it was a really fun book. The rhyming text will keep small children engaged and the illustrations are colourful and funny. I love that the illustrator used the correct Dewey decimal numbers in the library stacks.

What a fun adventure to go on as Larry does indeed get lost in the library. The illustrations are bright and cheery and the story is a fun way for kids to come to love and appreciate libraries more.
