This is a volume in which the "suggested reading order" really makes a big difference. The Revolution issues, assembled chronologically like this, are much more coherent than the previous trade paperbacks, which compiled the numbered series and the one-shots into separate volumes that were largely incoherent as a result. That said, it's still a bit muddled, and the way the Transformers are drawn doesn't exactly help. Til All Are One and Revolutionaries, on the other hand, are much better, both capping off a dangling plot thread from Titans Return and setting up for the final story arcs of IDW's entire Transformers series.

Where are the Transformers?

For this to be a Transformers compilation, the Cybertonians are scarcely involved in the story. There is more page space dedicated to GIJoe, ROM, and MASK than the actual characters I purchased this volume for. I appreciate the other brands (as they are also from my childhood) but I didn’t buy one of their books. I bought a “Transformers” book. I’m extremely frustrated with how they put this collection together. I own every volume that’s been released and this is the first time I’ve ever wanted my money back.

Pretty alright! Till All Are One is the best couple of issues in this one. I actually really liked how the dynamic between Starscream and Windblade played out. The Scavengers are just too fun to read about and I enjoyed it, but this extra was definitely weaker than their mini-series. Revolutionaries and Action Man don’t interest me near as much; granted, I think human subplots are the weakest point writing wise in IDW comics. I really miss my MTMTE tho. I miss them badly 😔.

I'm not joking when I say 80% of this is crossovers with other properties that I could not care less about. The windblade parts on cybertron are good but I just don't understand why they would throw away all the good character writing and everything that made IDW phase 2 so good for this many crossovers

I loved the IDW Collection to this point, but this volume I could not get through, it feels like a commercial for GI Joe instead of actual Transformers story, which is quite literally the opposite of why I started the Transformers series at all.

Phase three had cool politics but also really dumb cross over stuff. The GI-Joe stuff was actually buns. Unicron was cool though. Also Thundercracker is the greatest character ever made.

*3.5?

Most of the Joe stuff and... most of the other stuff was pretty average but there was good some parts in there, some storyline were great. Could have been better but could have been worse.
