"I said I'd never love another man again. I had no idea I would soon fall in love with four of them."
I, Skye Bellamy, escaped to this little mountain town to start anew. To focus. It was supposed to be easy, because If there's one thing I know how to do, it's reinvent myself.
But a series of unfortunate events lands me right next to my favorite R&B boy band from back in the day. And they still look good.
Angelo's the cocky one. Jamal is the strong, silent one. G is the gorgeous, sensitive one. And Matt, well, Matt's not on my radar and for good reason.
But I'm already on theirs.
I'm supposed to be working and they're supposed to be rehearsing but temptation abounds and I soon find myself in their clutches...or maybe they're in mine. It's hard to say. But no matter how happy we are with our little arrangement, we're all hiding something and it's only a matter of time before it all blows up in our faces. But in the meantime...
Remember that boy band that you were head over heels for as a teenager? Imagine sharing a home with them as an adult. How far would you take it 👀 Skye lived her best life in that house and I wasn’t mad at her. The individual spice scenes were great but the group ones? Chile, I had to go repent. I really enjoyed this book. I loved how sexually liberated they all were and how we even got lessons on boundaries and consent. The end was a page turner for me. I love when the skeletons start falling out of the closet 🤭 Let me just say this - once G’s type was talked about in the beginning, I clocked his tea as soon as Taz started spilling the beans on everybody.
If you decide to give this book a read, please remember that the trope is reverse harem.
“Can a black girl date and love three different men at the same time? What would that look like? How would she navigate it? And could it ever become a happily ever after?”
For Skye she had no idea that she would be embarking on a journey that would have her looking at and analyzing these questions while exploring the polyamorous lifestyle within the black community in a way she never imagined.
On the brink of a divorce, Skye is starting a new job and also writing a book. She had no idea that deciding to take time for herself and regroup would lead her to no man’s land with roommates to die for. Her wildest teenage dreams are literally staring her back in the face and giddy is an understatement.
Leave your morals, sanity and judgement at the door because Crave will have you questioning everything you thought you knew in a way you hadn’t even realized you would. The journey ain’t for the weak nor close minded and will have you reevaluating sooooo much.
So often do we see, read about and normalize this lifestyle, but when it’s in the reverse!!!!! Baby I had to talk myself off the ledge plenty of times! This freaky series is FULL of spice that will also spark plenty of dialogue amongst readers. I went into this read with zero expectations and details outside of the obvious and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
I’ve only read one other book that closely mirrored this lifestyle and am now open to a new world with endless possibilities! It ain’t for me 😂 but I’m intrigued. I’m anxious to see how everything comes together in book two because decisions have to be made!
I'm a Shae Sanders fan. Mostly because she can plain ol' WRITE. She has her own voice and views, and both come across crystal clear in whatever she writes, which I love. I didn't even know what a "reverse harem" was when I picked up this book (don't clown me) but boy, I found out very quickly. Here's the thing that I really dig about Shae's writing beyond what I just mentioned—her perspective. She's hella smart, and as I said, is firm in her perspective. This two-part story is no exception. Yes, the scenes are very, very uh, steamy ("steamy is not an adequate description for what goes down). But the main character, Skye has complete autonomy over her sexuality and her decisions, even as she struggles in other areas of her life. Which leads me to one of my favorite things about Shae's writing — she gives us completely fleshed out, well-rounded characters. From all 4 members of the band to the heroine, and even the side characters, every character is a whole person, and therefore, the relationships in the book are dynamic and jump off the page. I also have to point out how GREAT she is at dialogue. Shae also tackles an awful lot in these books: addiction, sexuality, abuse, grooming, friendships, healing, self-hate, and more. There is a lot here that can lead to great discussions. And she does it all without the books ever being preachy or unnatural. That takes skill. I'm not sure if people quite get *how much* skill that actually takes. Anyway, Shae is just a dang good writer, and I'm excited to read whatever she writes.
Chile....... This was an extremely messy and incredibly sexy read. Skye was living her very best life okay and I’m not mad at her. The tea that was spilled by her guys though baybey, they laid all there stuff bare and in the end nobody’s hand’s were clean!!! This Author did something new and unexpected and touched on a lot of issues and it was still funny as hell. Really good read and I can’t wait for part 2.
SEXY!!!!!! This book has me feeling some ways if you know hear I mean!! Skye had to live at least three of my sexual fantasies out! I also loved the drama between her life and the guys lives too!! I can’t wait for book two!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋😍😍😍😍🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Typically, when we read about polyamorous relationships it's a guy with multiple women. Thankfully, Shae Sanders decided to shake things up a bit and give readers, particularly me, a book with a woman that's in control of her polyamorous love life. In this book we are introduced to Skye, a professor that goes to a small town in Tennessee to write. Nothing like being surrounded by boredom to help get those creative juices flowing. That is until she realizes she's living merely feet away from her favorite boy band from back in the day, Crave. Angelo, Jamal, G and Matt make up the group that once gave Skye some of her best memories from her teenage years. When Angelo comes over to introduce himself to his new neighbor, instantly Skye realizes she's in trouble. "I frowned at that. 'We?' 'Yeah. Me and my boys. It's four of us over here.' Great. Just fucking great. Four dicks?"
With no other attractive women in the city, the guys are trying to sort out who gets dibbs on Skye, or should they just focus on the reason they're out there, to work on new music and get things ready for their upcoming tour. Instead, they decide to make Skye an offer she can't refuse. "'How would you feel about dating us?' Angelo said. 'Us, meaning the three of them,' Matt clarified. 'I ain't got shit to do with it. I'm just here to moderate.'" With date being the operative word, Skye is all in, but she can't deny the sexual attraction she has for all three men. And just as much as Skye is attracted to them, the guys are equally attracted to her. "I think I can speak for all of us when I say we like you. You're dope as fuck. Smart. Sexy. Funny. so we're not just trying to smash. We like spending time with you, too. You can get wined and dined and all that good shit but if you want your back blown out or your pussy ate, you can get that too. It's whatever you want. It's all about you."
After the particulars are worked out, this book turns in to the read of every sexually empowered woman's dreams. Skye did things on her own terms with no regrets. "Yes. It was definitely love. They loved me and I loved them right back. All of them, but in different ways and for different reasons. Eros for my boyfriends and Philia for Matt. They were mine and I was theirs. Bonded. Forever." Even though this book is filled with lots of steamy sex scenes, there is a plot, there is some drama and even a little plot twist. This was my first read by this author and she has me smitten with her work. I loved the originality of the plot. I loved all the characters. I even loved how to some, this read may seem unrealistic, but it still gave realistic vibes to me when I was reading it. There is a part two to this book, but it does not end on a cliffhanger. Also, if you are frigid and easily offended, this may not be the read for you.
I'm going to start this review by saying I think this is the nastiest book I've ever read! Like This book is freaky, freaky. So if you nasty like me this book probably right up your alley. I couldn't relate to the storyline but it was a good story never the less. Im very interested to see what part two brings
ayeeee, who dis fa?! Chileeee morals all out the door! Why was I shook and entertained all at the same time? Got me thinking I should tap into my own sexual liberation and not give af. Lolollll jk! I love each character even Lo annoying a$s. Let me go get into part two.
The author does some really interesting things here, but there’s something in the relationship that is just lacking for me. Maybe all the lies? This is the first black love, reverse harem, that I’ve come acrost.
It took me way too long to finish this amazing book. I LOVED it. And wow! I would not mind having a little "Sky Action" maybe. I can'tvwait to dive into book 2.
Firstly, this cover. I’ve already ordered the paperback because I need this on my shelf.
Secondly, RH is my jam. Once you tell me that, I really don’t even need the blurb just give me the book. I must say Shae Sanders delivered and delivered well!
Skye was that chick. Alluring, classy and intelligent...college professor with Ph. D. She was fierce but with a hidden vulnerable side too. She had all my admiration and let’s be honest my envy too because she was literally living the dream! My green eyed monster definitely reared its ugly head because the guys were something else.
Angelo who was arrogant and confident but you couldn’t help but love him. Jamal had that rugged attraction that you left you drooling. Pretty boy G who was SO much more than just a pretty face...he was kinda...well everything. Then there’s Matt whose connection was on an intellectual level that called to my sapiosexual spirit.
I took my time with this book because I honestly didn’t want it to end. I kept stopping purposely as I got closer to that last page. I loved Crave. It was entertaining; I smiled, I smirked, I laughed. It was smoking HAWT with a capital A! It was a little shocking, I wasn’t prepared for all the bombs Shae Sanders dropped on me. It was nostalgic; the mentions of the skating rink took me back to the days where I went and did everything but skate. It was contemplative; the subject of mention conditioning, whew shivers. I FELT that on a level way deeper than I expected to when I opened this book. What an introduction to the world of Shae Sanders and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for me!
Shae Gurl! You had them freaks coming out at night, and in broad daylight!! 😂 I was looking for something different with this read, but whew, I was not ready for this! It was sexy, fun, sometimes nasty, but you could really feel the love between the men and Skye. Skye is my shero! Had all of the men eating out of her little hands honey! She was able to build genuine relationships with each guy, and they each had their own connection with her. The ride was wild and crazy, loved every minute of it. Until..... Taz brought his ole hatin' ass there and BLEW UP THE SPOT! You hear me? Things went left quick, and I wasn't sure that anyone was going to make it out of there unscathed! Cannot wait for the next read, as the drama is already at its boiling point! Great job! 👍👍👍
Baby this right here was an unexpected surprise. I enjoyed finally reading something about a girl who gets what she wants how she wants with no judgement. There were pars of it that I wasn’t feeling but overall this was sexy and the tea at the end was scorching hot. If you can’t understand a woman enjoys unconventional sexual pleasures then this isn’t for you but if you can recognize that a woman is capable of enjoying her sexual desires without shame then you will enjoy this one.
I read other books by Shae Sanders and I did enjoy reading this book for my challenge. I found the relationship dynamic to be very interesting throughout the book. I love the fact that Skye had different relationships with each of the guys. I feel like the friendship with Matt was going good until that weird kiss. I know that this book has a part 2 and I look forward to Candace reaction to everything including Skye relationship with the guy. Overall I liked this book.
I came for the steam and it was provided ten fold. I enjoyed how each relationship was different. I felt the love between them all including Matt and I felt Skye's love for them. Not sure if I will read book two though.
Summary: Skye has set out to restart her life and dive head first into her new academic publication. Her assistant has made sure to book her nice place to focus on the writing project. However when she shows up and sees that said location is literally up in flames.. she has to move fast to find somewhere to stay for the next few weeks. And that she does, but the only place available is Air bnb that is already occupied by 4 other patrons. The thing is she knows these men, well she knows of them. They're none other than the boy band she grew up loving and relating to through their music. Heart break and the woe's of becoming a young adult were a little easier to handle when you have 4 beautiful voices harmonizing through your speakers. After getting to know each of them personally she slowly realizes her crushes never subsided. And now that they're here in person and the feeling is mutual she finds herself on the receiving end of all of their love.
Welp Shae Sanders can do no wrong. There's something about her as a writer, she is so good at really making characters feel real. None of her books have a staple that's repetitive in anyway they're all fresh and new. No matter the setting. This reverse harem was very well done being that it showed each characters pasts and determination in being successful as a group. Betrayal and competition between them all after being friends for so long. And even the music industry and 'friends' taking advantage of them. Skye also was going through her own issues that were highlighted as well. The steamy scenes were absolutely on point, but they were also fun because everything didn't flow perfectly. Sex can be clumsy sometimes and funny, she definitely showed that here and there. The only things I didn't like was the lead up to the acting on attraction. It felt a little abrupt and random. Also how Matt was handled... (But honestly even that made sense in a way.) Angelo was also arrogant and got on my last nerves. I liked Jamal the most and G was a close second. The ending was a true whiplash of plot twists and I can't wait to pick up the next book.
I can tell you that this was so outside of my normal read that I paused a few times. The back stories and the characters were so good and believable , and the way it all blended together was just ....wow. I read the majority at work and laughed at some dialogue, clutched my imaginary pearls at the sexcapades and was downright worried about Skye and her guys.
To say this was just a good read..no pun intended...would not be fair. Highly recommend this especially if you want to let your freak flag fly without repercussions.
I devoured this book in a day! Each of the guys have such a distinct personality. The ending chapter was totally rushed but that’s okay considering there is a book 2. When the secrets finally came out...Babyyyyyyy I was shocked! I mean I picked my mouth up off the floor. This book was wonderful and I’m now a new fan and on the bandwagon with this wonderfully talented author.
I have NO words 😮 this book had me on the edge of my seat... the author has the reader going in one direction and then BOOM the readers are hit with something that’ll make your jaw drop! I enjoyed this read very much and I’m happy that I stumbled upon this author. This is Book 1 of 2 and both are available.
I’m thinking about adopting a new lifestyle after reading this. Skye did what I think a lot of women have thought about trying. I don’t want to give too much away so just read the book.
This book was so good, I immediately had to start Crave Part II. The group dynamics within the band were fun, and I loved how each of the men interacted differently with Skye. G is my absolute fave though... the sensitive pretty boy who wants people to see him as more than *just the pretty boy*?! Swoon!!!
I really loved Skye, and even though we didn't get much of Chaney, I loved seeing their calls to each other.
Communication is a pet peeve of mine with books. I hate books/romance novels where basically the whole area/point of conflict will be something related to communication, that two paragraphs in chapter 1 could have fixed.
As far as I have reached, this seems that it'll develop in two ways, the current miscommunication/pissing contest that is currently going on with the guys in their group and then the overall one, the fact that it seems Skye is lying to them when it comes to her kid and the fact that she's lied to get her job.
Then, Angelo is shaping up to being this major asshole who thinks he's the big, bad boss man.
Then how does Matt get into all this?!?! And so far, he is the one that Skye is really clicking with but we know he's already "taken" (so far). Argh!
And upto chapter 12, Skye has done diddly squat to help her in writing her book/paper.
This is absolutely brilliant. I don’t know if this type of storyline exist in any other book but this is like romance gold. I’m honestly upset I haven’t heard all the hype about this book before because this has got to be the fantasy of every straight or bi black girl currently age 25-45 at least. From the moment Skye realized who the guys were I immediately started to relate to her and how she fangirled out. Now as a story this was very well written. I loved the personalities of everyone. I loved the banter, the humor, the relationships. I loved the authenticity of the group activities and the pace and growth of the relationship dynamics. I cannot freaking wait to read the 2nd book.
This story is one you will not expect, at all! I have heard about it from other readers but I still was not ready as the story unfolded. That one scene closed to the end of the book reminded me of the dinner scene in Tyler Perry's movie Why Did I Get Married. The unveiling of secrets was insane, certifiable crazy. I don't even know what to expect in book 2 but I am going there.
Two words...Rhythm and Blues. The surprise of finding her favorite group living next door takes Skye "down the rabbit hole." As she spends time with Angelo, Jamal, G, and Matt, the inevitable turns into reality. Feelings, anger, and unresolved hurt explode bigger than any of them could have imagined! Shae Sanders understood the assignment as it relates to reverse harem!
Likes: 1. I full belly laughed at the guys’ antics 2. The seggs was hawt
Dislikes: 1. I didn’t feel connected to these characters. When reading reverse harem you have to feel the love. The characters didn’t fall organically. It was as if boxes were being checked. Oh kiss him, now him, then him. I skimmed a lot of this one. It was meh.
I wanted to like this more, but for some reason I just couldn’t get into the story. Skye was all over the place and the guys were all dealing with something in their personal lives. I skimmed most of the pages despite being a fan of Sanders.
