Rate this book
This unique book makes object relations and self psychology accessible to readers not familiar with recent psychoanalytical literature. The theories presented in the book illuminate areas of childhood experiences such as 'relational' problems and narcissistic and borderline personality disorders. Readers will find clinical insights about object relations and self psychology through the presentation of issues, ideas, and controversies of these models of the person.

This book is incredible. Not a quick easy read, but this opened my eyes to how the mind relates to others and makes assumptions based on our past experiences. This book brings the statement "you're projecting" to a whole other level. I already knew I was going to incorporate this theory into my practice when I was only one chapter in! My copy is highlighted all over the place, with notes in the margins. This is, by far, one of my top favorite psychology books for clinicians.
