IT WAS NEVER GOING TO BE A FAIRYTALE...

On the same day Jason King is set to become a father, Will Slater sees a twelve-year-old boy on a street corner.

There's nothing particularly alarming about the kid, but Slater has a sixth sense when someone needs help, so he steps in to protect. After his vicious deliverance of justice enrages half the Boston underworld, Slater meets the whirlwind of chaos head-on. He made the choice to get involved, so he won't stop until the war is won. As King gets swept up in the madness from the supposed safety of Violetta's hospital room, their battles intertwine.

As the bodies pile and the scum of society seep from the woodwork, Slater confronts hidden truths he'd never learned. This boy he's protecting, this stranger, starts to remind him...

Family isn't always blood.

King Is Ready To Be A Father, Slater Sees A Boy Who Needs Help...

Another remarkable story by author Matt Rogers, as King is off for the birth of his son...And Slater Sees a boy...Alone, obviously a lookout for somebody...But He has an innate feeling this boy needs help...So does what he always does...Tries to help...What He walks into and does sends the enraged Boston Underworld his way, as he meets trouble the way he Always does...Removing those who are intent on causing harm to Him!! Unfortunately this also brings problems to King, as his wife and newborn lie in the Birthing Room at the hospital...Because a nurse unknowingly tells her 'cop' boyfriend about the strange scene when friends of a new Dad brought an unknown boy to visit...Shit happens fast...
Now Slater has a young boy to protect, and being the man he is, that means taking care of any problems that may come their way...As Slater says to the boy...'Family Is Not Always Blood'...
I thoroughly enjoy these two men who, although the job is tough, beyond crazy, always do what is Right...A 5 STAR story that makes You think of Your family, by blood or through life...Wouldn't you do Anything for Them?!

Every single book, is better than the last! I have read every book published by Matt Rogers and I am truly amazed that each subsequent book in every series is more exciting and more engaging than the previous one. I eagerly look forward to every future publishing event. I have been a voracious reader of Clancy, Flynn, Thor, Wager, and more and Matt Rogers tops them all for thrilling rides from beginning to end!

Another great read

I've followed Jason and Will since they were in their own series. I really enjoy that as a team. This book like all of Rogers' books is well written and a great read. There a good amount of action, but its not overdone. The characters keep growing while staying true to their belief system(s).

Another awesome adventure

After spending the last couple months bingeing everything-King&Slater, I’ll start by saying that this installment was a bit of a different ride than the others...this one tugged on the heartstrings in ways that the others haven’t, while still delivering an action packed thrill ride for fans of the series. And it should be noted, that’s a testament to the incredible skills of the author, Matt Rogers. Where other K&S books feature the guys traversing the globe, hopping continents and taking down kingpins and drug lords and all around scumbags, this book managed to cram all of the same heart pumping action into a world that exists just a few square miles from home. This book stands out & shines with themes of family and community, responsibility and leadership, and does deep into the intricacies of relationships within. Furthermore, the book spotlights just how truly different seemingly similar ppl’s lives/day-to-day struggles actually are, regardless of how close to home, or familiar their outside lives may appear on the surface. I’ll be honest, at first I wasn’t too thrilled/enthralled with the direction this book seemed to be heading in the beginning, and even found myself wondering if maybe the series that’s captivated me for just about all of 2021 may be winding down to a soft close...I found myself missing the high octane plots of past books that featured National/Global conspiracies of the highest order with running gun battles and brutal fight sequences; but shortly before halfway through I realized that this book still had all of that and was no less hard-hitting than the others... the difference is, we’re just entering a more emotional/heartfelt story line as the guys age and grow together as a unit....and this speaks volumes to the flexibility of the author and how talented he is at his craft. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to take new books within an established series down such differing plot lines after writing dozens of previous installments. I found myself avoiding the thought of change with regards to the guy’s lives.. Kinda like how it sucked that Mitch Rapp couldn’t stay that bad ass 21yr old forever lol. But needless to say, I’m beyond glad that I stuck around. This book completely alters the trajectory of the powerhouse duo moving forward; and just like my feelings after finishing past books in the series, I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next. Well done Matt.

Different than the usual, but still good

This is different to the previous novels. It's more about Slater and King becoming more normal, more human, but at the same time being themselves too
The vast majority of the story revolves around Slater, with King almost plating a bit part of but.it is still a good story and you learn a lot more about about how the two of them think and how their partners deal with them too

Awesome as always. Rogers never disappoints with the thrills and chills of two of the best black ops heroes. It gets better and better. King and Slater have grown and have awesome woman in their lives and it only adds to their badass capabilities. The story is amazing and leaves you wanting more. Can King & Slater really be Fathers? Find out. You won’t be disappointed

Fatherhood has done nothing to quench King & Slaters thirst for violence, whilst king & Violetta await the birth of their first child Will Slater intervenes to save a 12 year old life unleashing a torrent of violent battles that rage across Boston and surrounding towns. The boy Tyrel is lucky to have found Slater before a dirty cop or his homicidal uncle get hands on him.

United as never before by the bonds of mutual " fatherhood", Slater with a newborn and King with a troubled adolescent on the cusp of a new life gifted to him by King.

Both men remain committed to their mission, their mates, to each other and now their family. Though their family has grown, their life and goals remain fixed and committed. And, as always, they will persevere.

Fathers

To me this was not as good as the previous King, Slater books. It was a little too much violence on the main characters, to be semi believable. Will still follow the series when the next book becomes available.

Excellent

The story was compelling and very realistic. The ugliness of the world was exposed in all of it's aspects, gangsters, dirty cops, and corrupt politicians. The book exposed the filth of our world.

Fun in the chaotic way

Very easy reading, way over the top completely unbelievable but what great fun. King and Slater stories are easy reading, get lost in an unimaginably daft life

falling for fictional characters

The storylines can be a unbelievable and sometimes cliche. The principled foundation of King and Slater’s morals and ethics have me wishing for men like to sprout up worldwide.

Fathers

Another great page turner, although a couple of clangers - driving the Porsche away with slashed tyres for example. But, always edge of seat excitement.
