Rob is under commission to clean two Elizabethan portraits painted on wooden panels. But other collectors want them as well, and one will stop at nothing to get his hands on both panels.

The portraits were stolen from Fox Courtney's home, and he wants them back. He, too, will stop at nothing. He has the advantage—he's a vampire.

The inevitable clash will endanger Rob and his family, but as he grows closer to Fox, there's even more at risk—his heart.

Chris started creating stories not long after she mastered joined-up writing, somewhat to the bemusement of her parents and her English teachers. But she received plenty of encouragement. Her dad gave her an already old Everest typewriter when she was about ten, and it was probably the best gift she'd ever received – until the inventions of the home-computer and the worldwide web.

Chris's reading and writing interests range from historical, mystery, and paranormal, to science-fiction and fantasy, mostly in the male/male genre. She also writes male/female novels in the name of Chris Power. She refuses to be pigeon-holed and intends to uphold the long and honourable tradition of the Eccentric Brit to the best of her ability. In her spare time [hah!] she reads, embroiders, quilts and knits. In the past she has been a part-time and unpaid amateur archaeologist, and a 15th century re-enactor.

She currently lives in a small and ancient city in the south-west of the United Kingdom, sharing her usually chaotic home with an extended family, two large dogs, fancy mice, sundry goldfish and a young frilled dragon (Australian lizard) aka Trogdorina.

A solid mystery/crime story that I would have liked better without the surprising paranormal twist. The lighthearted, funny overtone of the story got lost at that point...

When you pick up a book, having no idea what it is about, other than you have received it as a submission by a new author, it is so thrilling when it is wonderful. It’s like opening a present and it is exactly to what you need... Fox Hunt by Chris Quinton was just that book.

It became a mystery, a love story and for this short novel it gave me one hundred per cent satisfaction. Robert Rees, works as a full-time librarian. He also indulges in his love being an art restorer. His father does this as a living, having quite a good reputation, and has taught his son well. Dad has fallen off a ladder, is hospitalized and calls upon Rob to finish a job he is working on for a client named Braverstock; a pair of Elizabethan portraits on oak paneling, the likeness of Adam Courtney and Ann Darcy.

Dad does these “jobs” off the books, so to say, as under the table cash, so as not to pay taxes. He has a number of clients, who they distastefully call Hoarders (people who never share these rare finds with anyone else). This job is going to re-do Dad’s old roof calling it the Thatch Roof Fund.

Rob is a good son and takes on the commission, taking leave from his job for a few weeks. His brother Mike thinks the fall off the ladder might not have been an accident, and has asked his friend Reynard aka Fox to be Rob’s bodyguard. Rob thinks his brother has been reading to many spy thrillers and is upset when meeting Fox that he is one of his brothers crazy biker buddies.

All this adds up to be a don’t judge a book or biker by its cover, and a restoration more than Rob or the reader bargained for. I never realized the means that collectors would go by to own a treasure and not always getting them honestly. But Fox is there to help Rob and what a tangled web that becomes, in a good way.

The other characters in Robs family are wonderful as well, his dad, brother, cousin Lisa and his Uncle, are likeable and add to the story well.

I just love when I have a ‘find’ in reading, and Fox Hunt by Chris Quinton was everything a story should be, well written, action as a thriller, a blossoming love story, sensual scenes between the lovers yet a hint of humor. I refuse to give one spoiler in this review. I want everyone to read this and fall in love. Chris has other books, must check if there is a sequel...If not it needs one!

Ok so I read the blurb and then I read the book. I really, really liked the book. The story flowed well, the characters were...well some of them were just that characters, overall it was an excellent fun read. I'm not going to go too much into what the books about because...well, really you can read the blurb and it will tell you about the story. What I'm going to say is this story took some surprising twist and turns in some very well plotted out ways and I really enjoy it when an author take me by surprise and that is what happened here.

I'm looking forward to adding more books by this author to both my TBR pile and my Read pile. If Fox Hunt is any indication it's going to be a very enjoyable process.

The blurb is pretty straightforward about what the premise of what Fox Hunt is about, so I won’t spend much time rehashing it. I also do not want to spoil any of interesting twists and turns the plot has throughout this book, so l’m going to tread lightly here without hopefully giving too much away.

Robert Rees thinks he’s an ordinary guy with an ordinary life, but when he’s asked to restore two portraits, Robert won’t believe he lives an average life ever again. What lies ahead for him in this well-written, fast-paced book is a mystery, an evil villain and sexy and mysterious hero who will not only give Robert an adventure of a lifetime, but be the love of his life as well.

Fox Hunt is told in first person through Robert’s eyes. Normally, first person is not my favorite point of view in romance, but because Robert is such an interesting, honorable and likeable person, I enjoyed the story being told through his eyes. Since he truly believes he’s just an average Joe, Robert’s surprised by the sudden danger and intrigue that is now in his life. One of the things that I thought was very refreshing about Robert is that he is truly a very nice guy who doesn’t really expect really good or bad things to happen to him. In the beginning of the book, he doesn’t really believe he’s that attractive, and he’s beginning to think he’ll never really someone to spend his life with him.

When Robert meets a man called ‘Fox’, he’s immediately intrigued by the mysterious and very attractive man. But even though Fox is pleasing to Robert’s eyes, he doesn’t trust him. Once the men are almost forced to be around each other, Robert begins to see there is a lot more to the fascinating man that meets the eye. The more Robert learns and cares for Fox, the more he’s forced accept things he didn’t think were possible. Robert also has some major life changing decisions he must make, and I thought all of the challenges, whether big or small, that were thrown his way, Robert handles them not only thoughtfully, but realistically as well.

I really loved the physical and emotional chemistry between Robert and Fox. I also loved the witty and intelligent banter between them, and I found myself captivated by their relationship. They were an easy couple to rally behind and hope they find a way to be together and throughout it all, Fox Hunt delivered what I love most about reading this genre and that’s romance. Chris Quinton is a new author for me, and after reading this book, this author has become someone I’ll actively look to read more books written by her. From start to finish, Fox Hunt is a delightful, sexy read and I highly recommend it.

When Robert Rees is called home to see his dad, who's taken a nasty spill and is hospitalized, the last thing he expects is to have to help around his house. Especially when it's involving restoring some artwork the old man accepted on commission.

Seems there are two panels that look to be pretty valuable, and perhaps of questionable provenance, and more than one person is interested in them. After a break-in and a visit by two guys who can only be called hired muscle, Robert is a bit concerned. Should he do the work, or hand them over?

While he's deciding, his ne'er-do-well brother decides he needs a bit of muscle of his own, and calls in a friend of his. Fox, a biker Robert's never seen before, but finds himself fascinated by. The man, let's face it, is gorgeous. So rather than turn him away, he accepts Fox's help. For a day or two, he tells himself. And the man can sleep on the couch.

But there's more to Fox than meets the eye. And more to this whole mystery of the panels, where they came from and who wants them, too. So Robert finds himself knee deep in art thefts, thugs, rich art patrons and danger.

Will Fox be able to protect him? Will the budding attraction between the two amount to anything? Or will Robert miss out on another opportunity?

Chris Quinton outdid herself with this sexy, funny mystery involving artwork, family secrets and maybe a supernatural creature or two. This is a nicely imagined, fantastically executed work with huge heart and soul.

Ms. Quinton creates perhaps two of her finest characters here in Robert and Fox. The two are so very different, but at heart not so much so at all. Robert is headstrong, opinionated and proud. Driven to help his family in spite of himself, he's furious at the circumstances, but takes on more and more of the work and responsibility to keep his father's name clean.

And Fox - mysterious, sexy, hardheaded himself. His story we have to wait for, but it's well worth it. He's less in-you-face, but every bit as family-oriented and responsible as Robert.

The two mesh together so well, and are so funnily at odds with each other throughout the book. I loved the sparring, the slow dance of attraction, and the wonderful heat the two men have together.

This book is just ripe for a sequel. Please?

So very much fun!

I really enjoyed this. A good clean writing style conveys the ordinary twisting around into the extraordinary with nary a slip.

I enjoy certain combinations of characters, and this includes one of my favourites for romances. The POV character is a 'regular guy' who fears he's living too small a life, and underestimates the attractiveness of his innate decency and strength. The love interest is someone intriguingly different, and the sort who might have anyone - but he's wise enough to know what he most needs and the rarity of it. I do love that sort of thing, and it's beautifully told here.

An excellent example of the genre!

Almost, but not quite 4 stars.

Good writing, a nice dose of humor, likable characters. I had my suspicions about Fox, so I wasn't that surprised when the twist was revealed. I do agree with some reviewers that paranormal element wasn't necessary, at least all that brainwashing got old really fast and felt like an easy way out. But, I liked Fox and I liked Robert and they worked well together. Maybe, if the author gave us more of Rob's crazy family instead of , this could have been even a 5 star read.

Not a bad book, but I just found myself really bored. The mystery never fully engaged me, and the supernatural twist was just more of the same old same old . I liked the balance between the characters, but something kept me from really caring about them, or their predicament.
