It was hard enough serving as my witchy cat’s familiar when we only had to deal with threats we could see. Now he’s gotten himself into a bitter feud with a newly dispatched ghost, leaving me to wonder… How in the heck are we supposed to defeat this thing?
I miss the simple days when all I had to worry about was finishing my thesis paper and not getting fired from my part-time job as a barista.
And, yeah, even though I didn’t choose the magic life, it sure as heck chose me. Now all I have to do is to keep myself alive long enough to appreciate some of the perks.
A Hilarious Mystery with a Witchy Cat and his Human Familiar.
Molly Fitz is the quirky, cozy mystery pen name of USA Today bestselling author, Melissa Storm. And while she can't technically talk to animals, she and her doggie best friend, Sky Princess, have deep and very animated conversations as they navigate their days. Add to that, five more dogs, a snarky feline, comedian husband, and diva daughter, and you can pretty much imagine how life looks in the Casa de Fitz.
Molly lives in a house on a high hill in the Michigan woods and occasionally ventures out for good food, great coffee, or to meet new animal friends.
What a delightful story about Gracie and her cat Merlin and his girlfriend Luana. They usually deal with regular things but now a ghost is involved. Loved it.
Gracie may be settling into her position of being Merlin’s familiar, but the magical world isn’t anywhere near settling down around them. And even worse, it may be dragging innocents into the mix. This book went by in a blur of shenanigans and cat fur. It kept me trying to guess what would happen next and how bad the outcomes could get. My guesses were seldom even close to the mark, so I’m not going to try to figure out what the third book will bring. All I know for certain is that I’m excited to find out. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
"We have the power of love on our side. Your hate will never win," I yelled, because that seemed like the type of thing a good guy would say in a show down like this.
Yes. I chose that quote to put on my review. No. I have no regrets because it's funny as hell.
I love this book. Do I need to say more? I love the relationship between Gracie, Merlin and Luna.
This book is a quick read so the plot is not that big and the twists aren't that surprising. I quite like that it's low-stakes but I think that's gonna change as the other installations come out. I have no thoughts and I'm literally just here for the ride so let's go, go, go!
Quick tangent: I never knew "Pumpkin Spice Latte" stands for several assortments of spice including cinnamon, ginger, coconute et cetera. I just thought it was pumpkin flavor. (Sue me. I'm a South East Asian) Anyway, Americans talking about PSL like it's a basic white drink makes so much more sense now.
I enjoyed this book. I like the idea of this book and think the author is very clever in switching up the world of magic, where the cat is the actually witch and it is the human that is the witch's familiar. This is book two and although it does continue from where the last book left off (almost a consequence of the actions taken in the last book) it isn't necessary to have read it because the author does a good job of bringing you up to date. The characters are fun but I think one of them was just to accepting of the event's to be believable, unless there is a reason for that, that we will discover as the books come out. Can't wait to find out. Gracie is still trying to come to terms with the fact that she has two talking cats living with her, that has her jumping through hoops for them and the more surprising fact that she is a witch's familiar. What she isn't surprised about is the fact that a magic is upsetting her quite little world again. She has a ghost beginning to form in her house and the very presence is upsetting the cats because they fear an old enemy is coming back to cause Gracie harm. Can the three of them learn enough about ghosts to stop this from happening?. Everything Gracie knows about ghosts is from watching Ghostbusters on tv. Will that be enough or can she find someone to help without letting the cat out of the bag about magic? I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery story. All the characters within were fun to read about. There were laughs and giggles within. This story had action, a bit of adventuring scene, and suspense throughout. The main characters were Merlin a Maine Coon cat, Luna a white cat, and Gracie Springs their owner. Gracie is a barista and human familiar to Merlin the magical witch cat. Gracie has been quite busy of late and is hoping that nothing else comes up that needs her attention. But she is not that lucky because a ghost is trying to show up in the house and the cats are not happy about it. She is not sure what to do about it but with both cats everything is not that simple to do.
This was a fun story to read. The mystery within was fun to solve. This is the second book in this series of three. I had fun reading book one and two. And will continue this series because I want to know what Merlin get up to in the third book.
Since I read the first book in this series. I decided to try the second book in this series. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.
MERLIN FIGHTS A GHOST by Molly Fitz Is a fast read that brings some fun and humor into our dark days and is suitable for the whole family. This is the second book in her series "Merlin the Magical Fluff" and it is all fun and entertainment drawing me in from the beginning and keeping me hooked until the end.
Gracie, Merlin and Luna must prevent a ghost from getting revenge. But it's easier said than done. And, what is with Gracie's coworker? Is he a budding human warlock or maybe looking for his own feline witch? Only future events can reveal.
You'll enjoy this kitty cozy from beginning to end. While there may not be a lot of depth or meaningful plot to these stories, you will be turning pages and smiling from beginning to end. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series, Merlin Kills a Zombie.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
MERLIN FIGHTS A GHOST is the second book in the Merlin the Magical Fluff series. Book two picks up where the first left off and many plot elements are a direct consequence of things that happened previously, but you’ll be brought up to date. I still recommend reading in the order of release.
This series is so clever. The human is the familiar and the cat is the witch. There is feline romance, potions, ghosts, and lots of pumpkin spice.
I loved this feel-good, easy-to-read, fun, and funny kitten-cozy with lots of cat-itude. I love the mellow drama (as opposed to melodrama!). I’m looking forward to Killing a Zombie!
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via BookSprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Seems Luna has seen a ghost and want it gone. She tells Gracie they must get rid of it. They believe the ghost is named Virginia. They need to figure out why the ghost is here and how to get rid of it while they have other things in life to do. It seems nothing goes smoothly for them in their life. What about Drake? Can they get rid of the ghost? Is it really named Virginia? Grab the boo to find out how things are going. Its a great 121 page read. This is the second book in the Merlin the Magical Fluff series that I have read. Gracie Springs is just coming to terms with the fact that her cat is a witch and she is his familiar. There is so much to learn but she’s starting to catch on. Well, that is, until the ghost starts to appear! That’s something Gracie and Merlin don’t know much about, and they better learn fast because things may not go well! Molly Fitz has done a fantastic job of creating a very entertaining story of magical beings and their human interactions mixed with scariness and laughter and a touch of sweet romance! I highly recommend this book and I’m looking forward to reading the third book! I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Gracie Springs has been thrown into a life of magic as a human familiar to a cat named Merlin. Now, Merlin and his lady love, Luna, tell Gracie that there's a ghost in the house that they have to banish. But nothing ever goes smoothly in the world of magic.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my voluntary review. This is the second book in the series and it was a quick read. The book's well-written with wonderful characters and a great addition to the series which will keep you hooked as you read. It's a fun, magical read with a twist on who has the magic and who's the familiar. I'm looking forward to the next book and highly recommend both book and series.
“Seeds that have been sown will soon bear dangerous fruit."
Here comes Gracie, Merlin, Luna and the gang as they deal with love, loss, found, potions, and pumpkin spice. I just love Merlin and Luna, the lovebirds (cats) and that they really need a "human familiar" to be their total magical selves. They can be as complex and dumb as humans but in the end, they save the day . Sort of.
Leave it to author Molly Fitz to spin a tale that intersects humans and animals that is funny, wonderful and makes you want to read more and more. Highly Recommended 5/5.

Gracie has a problem or three. She gets woken up by her cats screeching to find there's a newly developing ghost in her apartment. Merlin and Luna don't know anything about ghosts, even though they're the witchy ones, which leaves her to figure out what to do about it. And now her new boss Kelley is overdosing everyone on Pumpkin Spice coffees. Luckily, her coworker Drake pops up with some personal knowledge about ghosts and helps her out. She needs the assist, since she ends up with two ghosts and one is soooo not happy with her. This is a fun story and expands on the friends and family Gracie now has. Looking forward to the next book to see what she'll have to handle next.
This is the second book in the Merlin the Magical Fluff series and the unexpected is keeping Gracie Springs on her toes! It seems Luna her now normal cat has discovered a ghost attempting to materialize in the hallway of Grace's home and it might be the evil witch Virginia returning from the dead, or not. There are new employees at Grace's work, including Drake who knows a lot, but can't say how. There are several mysteries combined to confuse the comings and goings and all of it makes for a very entertaining tale.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest, voluntary review. I enjoyed this story very much and am looking forward to the next adventure with Merlin...and kittens?!
WOW Just when I think I've got something figured out, think again, next. Who is it? We all know Virginia is bad, but Harold's warning kept me guessing. I can't wait to learn more about Drake and his abilities, will he and Kelly stay an item, will we learn something deeper about Drake? There are so many possibilities in this series; Gracie's thesis for college, the upcoming wedding, seed to be sown that is dangerous, kitties to be born, how the coffee shop does, will PSL be year round staying popular, what about Dash, anymore going to happen from the run away dual challenge? Endless possibilities.
Merlin Fights a Ghost is the second book in the delightful Merlin The Magical Fluff series. Whilst I recommend you read the first book it is not absolutely necessary as there is enough of the background story to fill in any gaps if necessary. So Gracie is a familiar, Merlin is a witch, and a cat, with a heritage leading back to the original Merlin. Luna is an ex witch, a cat and Merlin's girlfriend. When Luna sees a ghost in the house it is only the start of their troubles. This is a great book with a delightful twist on the traditional genre. Merlin is snarky but fabulous and I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
Compared to the first Merlin book I found this one a bit slow going in the beginning and it took me a few chapters to really get into the story (but maybe that's because my mind is still half stuck in another book's universe).
Overall it was a nice and easy read, something lighthearted again for a change! I love Merlin and Luna and I can picture Gracie's life with these 2 so well (Gracie is great, too, of course). Will have to read the 3rd book soon, because I really want to see how their story together continues!
And I can't wait to read about their kittens, which I hope will already be born then!

Received as an ARC copy. What could be stranger then talking cats. How about magical cats and ghosts. Gracie has two cats Merlin and Luna. Merlin is a witch Luna is a former witch. Gracie is Merlin's familiar. Something is haunting Gracie and her cats. What will happen when the ghost tries to kill Gracie and her cats. Gracie's friends Drake and Kelly come to the rescue. If you like magic and cats this might be a book for you. It was a quick read when I found time to do it. Not my normal read but Molly Fitz has gotten me hooked on her fun stories.
I have enjoyed this series about Merlin the Cat that is a witch. All Grace wanted was to finish her thesis and hold onto her job as a part time barista. Now she is living in her grandmother’s house with Merlin that now talks to her since he has chosen her as his familiar. As they discover a ghost in the house, their plans to get rid of it just don’t run as smoothly as they had hoped. A short magical read watching the cats Merlin and Luna his lady love hold your attention with their antics.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story is entertaining and held my interest from beginning to end. Gracie, Merlin, and Luna have to contend with ghosts this go-round. Neither Merlin nor Luna knows anything about ghosts so it is a learn as they go experience. Is Drake more than he appears to be? Will we find out in the next book? I hope so. I also hope Merlin and Luna find some way to banish Virginia for good. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I am really liking Gracie and Merlin. Gracie is awoken from a sound sleep to such a ruckus only to find they have a ghost in the house. Is it Virginia's ghost? While the cats help her with getting rid of the ghost, Gracie has a date with her co-worker. He seems to have seen a ghost before and she thought he might be able to help her. He is being helpful, but he isn't affected by the ghost's antics like she is. What is he?
This was an interesting book involving two cats, two ghosts, and a few humans. I especially liked the main character, Gracie Spring, who lives in her grandmother's house and ended up with Merlin, a witch cat adopting her. The other cat is Luna and together they get Gracie into all sorts of interesting situations. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
It has wonderful characters and of course my favorites are the feline characters. It had a really entertaining story line and I found it hard to put this mystery down until I finished it. Am looking forward to the next in the series and also the newest one coming out in October. I will also be reading the Witch for hire series with Mr. Fluffikins.
I was sitting here reading this adorable book and I couldn't stop smiling. It was the most fun I have had in awhile. Gracie, Merlin and Luna are just so sweet. I love the twist up with the cats being the witches and Gracie is the familiar. That made the book even more intriguing. Then topped off with a murderous ghost, it was amazing. I just loved it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Molly Fitz has really been busy bringing to life a new mystery and mayhem it's absolutely adorable with an array of colorful characters humans, cats and ghosts you want to become more familiar with being drawn into the mystery that will make you laugh, sye and enraptured. All so well written if you enjoy your cozey mystery with the paranormal adventure mixed in acquire " Merlin Fights a Ghost " so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. 😀 Kat.
I enjoyed this book every bit as much as the first in the series. I adore animals and the idea of talking pets is wonderful to me. I read all sorts of genres, but I especially like being able to relax with SC fi/fantasy. Life is serious enough... Light reading like Merlin stories recharges my batteries. Great cast of characters in the story. Looking forward to more of Merlin &Co.
This was a quick, fun read. In this story, Merlin and Luna discover that there's a ghost in the house. None of them know who it is or why they're there. Gracie also makes a friend who wants to date her ...but that's not what Gracie is after. Anyway, who is the ghost that's beginning to take form in the house? Is it dangerous? Friendly? And most of all ....why is it there? Read the story to find out. You'll enjoy it.
Another captivating magical adventure. I like that this series provides a very unique twist in the positions of a familiar. Merlin is quite the smitten, dramatic character. Tawny is very determined to help, I would like to see her grow a bit more in her supportive role as a familiar. Entertaining, quick read. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
It should be obvious from the title that in Merlin Fights a Ghost, Gracie, Merlin and Luna have to deal with ghosts not just witches. These characters and the very original plot kept me well entertained as I read straight through. There are some interesting developments at the coffee shop as Gracie tries to find time to balance her job and being Merlin's familiar with ghost busting!
