The story is allright but the way the author writes is unrelatable.. She makes everything dreamy.. Everything motivating... Not every conversation has to be dreamy... Some conversations need to be simple and sweet but the author is resolute to making every conversation so affirmative that it becomes boring and dready to move forward in the novel.

I have read half of it and i am already bored to death with it.

Well, I have to force myself to complete the book. But here we go.

There are a lot of issues with the book. Listing them below:

1. Too much philosophy.
2. A lot of deep conversation. Every sentence doesn't have to be metaphorical and thought-provoking.
3. There are a total of 14 chapters. Whereas the reveal of Elisha's disappearance is in the 13th chapter that too is very abrupt. There is a major lack of build-up in the storyline.
4. It is shown in the book that Alara is Aarav's love interest but she rarely even thought about him. And still, they end up kissing and having sex together, and boom they are madly in love with each other(mind you they never even talked to each other).
5. The story is dragged a lot without any plot twist (the answer to Elisha's Disappearance is very straight and predictable).
6. The standup which was supposed to tickle my ribs couldn't even put a smile on my face and made me cringe hard.
7. Elisha is sidelined from the story.

When I read the synopsis I was genuinely intrigued to read this book and had great expectations but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

You Only Live Once by Stuti Changle is a fictional story about three characters - Alara from Prague, Czech Republic; Aarav based in Pune and Ricky who is from Goa. Three completely different characters, yet somehow interconnected.

Ricky, the beach shack owner in Goa. Aarav, the struggling stand-up comedian. Alara, famous YouTube singer. All three of them end up in Goa and find the truth about suddenly missing singer Elisha.

I genuinely liked the book. The book has equal amount of twists and turns at proper intervals along with perfect humor from Aarav's side. The story is very fast paced yet properly told with three POVs. Set majorly in Goa, the three join in to find the truth.

I loved the components of family, friendship, love, closure, etc. everything in this book. It's filled with underlying emotions and it was really good to read such a heartwarming end to the story. I would highly recommend you all to pick this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really wanted You Only Live Once to be a five-star read for me, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark. Right from the start, it felt more like a self-help or philosophical book than a contemporary fiction novel, and that’s a genre I personally don’t enjoy. I went in expecting an engaging story with emotional depth and character development, but what I got instead felt more like life lessons disguised as dialogue.

There were some parts I appreciated, the way Goa was described brought a certain charm and atmosphere to the story. I could picture the beaches and the vibe, but even those descriptions felt a bit surface-level, not as immersive or vivid as I had hoped. It left me wanting more.

What really didn’t work for me was the storyline and the character dynamics. I couldn’t understand how Aarav and Alara’s relationship escalated so quickly, they went from strangers to deeply connected in what felt like a blink. Their bond, especially the part where they fall in love and get physically intimate, felt rushed and emotionally unconvincing. There was very little buildup, and the emotional depth just wasn’t there for me.

A lot of the plot points felt incomplete or underdeveloped. I kept waiting for something to really pull me in or surprise me, but it never quite happened. It felt more like a series of reflective monologues than a cohesive narrative with engaging twists or arcs.

That said, I do have to give credit where it’s due, the book cover is absolutely beautiful. It’s eye-catching, elegant, and definitely one of the reasons I picked up the book in the first place. 🌊☀️🏖️

Overall, while the book had potential and a few nice moments, it just wasn’t the kind of story that resonated with me.

Hello , just finished your work of art . I'm really bad with words and I can't express my emotions with text but I can't resist I really wanna share my fabulous experience with your book . Firstly you have changed my mindset about taking bath , now taking shower is like diving into my soul and coming out with pure satisfaction . The way Ricky explained his emotions and feelings for sea I really felt that . The way you described every characters emotions are just amazing .

‘To the one you’ve loved. And lost. Not necessarily to death.’

It's the story of a girl who lost her mother when she was born and so lost her childhood. Her desire to search for her and search for music brings her to Goa.

It is also a story of a boy who just got his heart broken and trying to make it up by pursuing his dream of becoming a Stand Up Comedian.

And lastly and most importantly, the story of a middle-aged guy Ricky who loved but couldn't confess and his heartache of losing his finest love story before it even began leads him to pursue a legendary life. A life of meaning and a life of giving meaning to the dreams of others.

The beauty of the book lies where these three characters find solace in each other's company. While searching for a missing piece of the puzzle together, they did find the meaning of life and were able to reach the sky in their respective careers.

It's a story that has it all, philosophy, drama, love and everything. I really liked how the author chose three different narrations to give a bigger outlook towards the story. All in all, it was one of the finest reads for this year for me.

Here, let me end this review with another beautiful excerpt from the book itself:

‘There is a reason why we don't have an answer to everything yet. If we become all-knowing, the purpose of life will be destroyed.'

This book just washes you away, questions all cliche concepts like, do we really love once? Though a fiction, but it is philosophical in its very nature. Inspiring to say the least, encouraging at its very best, now I feel like going and saying whatever it is to that person. At a very low phase, my friend gave it to me, much gratitude to her.
It's a lovely read!

Elisha, pop sensation and queen of hearts from Goa, married a rich businessman from Czech and suddenly disappears after few years. Alara who believes Elisha is her mother goes back to Goa to search for her mother, as she still hopes she is alive somewhere, albeit under a hidden identity. Aarav, a young student from Goa who interns with bank to support his family financially and an aspiring standup comedian, hopes to meet Elisha at least once in his life after hearing about her in Goa. Ricky the old and crazy guy who is owner of Ricky’s Shack in Goa, friend of Elisha from childhood, wishes he never ever met her. What is the secret behind Elisha and who among these three will find her and how this search will change their lives forever forms the rest of the story.

The story is about Alara searching for Elisha and in the process meeting Aarav and Ricky among others in Goa, but at the end, each of them realize they are searching for something more than a missing person. And that is exactly what the title translates into — You live only once. Alara and Ricky steal the show with their strong characterizations and while Aarav starts off well, his character does not grow even though he is one of the three protagonists. Aarav lacks the layers that the other two have, may be since his life does not have as much pain and heart break as the other two go through.

Goa is the next major character is this story, as Goa and majorly Palolem beach are more than a backdrop and location; they are the soul of the book. The author has done an amazing job in vividly describing the locations to transport reader to a different world. This is the second outing of the author Stuti after her highly successful debut OTOR and I personally found her writing has grown exponentially. While the first half is perfect with unique characters, their struggles, in the middle of the picturesque Goa, the actual intent of finding Elisha slowly takes a backseat in the second half, as the characters and their internal turmoil take up the story.

The author weaves magic with her words, as the thoughts of Alara and Ricky are pure bliss; their thoughts and emotions are compelling. The quotes at the start of each chapter are interesting; Aarva’s standup acts though impressive could have been better presented. Pick this one for an enigmatic story that is coming-of-age filled with music, fun, love and much more. You live only once is an experience that every reader should drown in at least once.

There is always a positive side of everything, learn to see that even if the times are hard. Its on you wheather you want to hold on to something that hurt in your life or you just need to let it go.
Good book to read, it also tells that there is no age to follow ur passion, if u can dream of it you should try.
Aarav was someone who was holding on to her ex and her memories, alara who was still holding on to her mother's memories and wanted to know what happened to her ,where Ricky was also holding on to a person he loved the most. When all these three met and helped each other to let it go from there inside pain ,there life became much simple, better and happy.

Longgggg lags!! I only got one single connect with elisha’s letter to alara at the end. Why that romance between alara and arav when they were so eagerly wants to findout whereabouts of alara’s mother. All of sudden with pouring feelings, love and that connection ended up to kissing ahh god crazy. Story is ok but the narration is not that strong. ☹️ in short i didnt like it.

I found it quite difficult to connect with the characters and the author’s way of writing where she has tried to make every line in every conversation dreamy and like full of live advices.
There’s a lot of abrupt conversations as well - one person asks or says something about a topic and the other person goes in a very diff direction. It gets annoying after a certain point.

You Only Live Once by Stuti Changle is a captivating and thought-provoking novel that delves into the lives of three distinct characters as they embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind a mysterious disappearance.

The novel introduces us to three main characters: Alara, a rising YouTube star from Prague, Aarav, a struggling stand-up comedian from Pune, and Ricky, a quirky yet wise beach-shack owner from Goa. These three individuals, each with their unique backgrounds and struggles, find themselves intertwined in a quest to find the missing singer, Elisha, who vanished by the deep sea in Goa.

As they search for Elisha, Alara, Aarav, and Ricky not only uncover secrets about the singer's life but also learn profound truths about themselves. The humor sprinkled throughout the story adds a light-hearted touch, making it an enjoyable read.

One of the highlights of the book is the way these three characters find comfort and solace in each other's company. Their interactions and the bonds they form are beautifully depicted, showing how people from different walks of life can come together and support each other.

However, one downside of the book is the lack of build-up in the storyline. The narrative could have benefited from more detailed development in certain parts. Despite this, the quotes at the start of each chapter are interesting and add depth to the reading experience.

Overall, You Only Live Once is a delightful read, offering a mix of humor, wisdom, and inspiration.

In the words of the author, 'A child without a mother always feels incomplete'. The inceptive stages of growth and development of a child is regarded primarily to the parents; who balancing on this tedious journey, save the rays of hope for us, don't they?
However, the unconventional departure of anyone of them leads us to consistent dismal and makes us the captive of exponential monotonous routine that eventually leads us to a place where all we want is -- ANSWERS.
The story revolves around Alara's search for her belongingness and to quench her inquisitiveness of knowing about her mother, Elisha. Nonetheless, Ricky's enthralling forever love for Elisha and Aarav's exposure to his passion and rekindling spark of love. It's beautiful to learn that our passion can fulfill a zillion things that we don't even consider exists or of significance. This book teaches us that the worldly chaos is bound to exist whilst coexisting with our dilemma and mystics of life. Also that forgiveness, friendship and love can happen unexpectedly; especially where you least expect it. And that the truth out there, somewhere, might not be what we expect them to be, and that's alright because knowing the truth is better that being in delusion. To know more about their journey of passion, belongingness, truth stay tuned with this book. 'YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE'

This story is based in goa. Not exactly a love story but rather a story of connection among people who didn't know each other and in little time they became an important part of each other's life due to their common goal or passion. This book inspires to find unanswered questions of life. It is always worth leaving a routine and solving the mystery of our life even if you don't know what would happen.

This was a decent book which started well but the pace in the second half was a bit fast, some things could have been better explained. I have a confusion though, I mean did he just assume it, because I know he was doubtful about it, but it was nowhere stated as far as I read.
The romance between the protagonists also felt a bit fast paced considering the fact there wasn't a lot of conversation between them before confession of feelings.
This book can be a one time read as it does help us look at the term "passion" with a different light and give us hope to follow our dreams.
