Surrendered in Salem (The Casters and Claws Series)

Rate this book
Selene Bishop runs the Healsome Magic Center with her sister. She loves her job, but she did wish that her life had time for something more. She doesn't know what she's looking for, but she would settle from a bit of free time. When she is taken to a secluded house on a wolf's pack lands for her own safety, Selene realizes that she might have gotten exactly what she was hoping for.

Jett is a grumpy wolf who doesn't expect much out of life. After a lifetime of regrets, he's just fine being on his own. None of his plans include finding his mate. In fact, he is adamant that he doesn't want a mate. He just knows that domestic life isn't for him. He wants to work in the bar and go through the motions. But when he is sent to save a witch, he comes face to face with what he never wanted.

Selene might be a witch, but she understands the pull of the mate sense. She also has a lot of compassion for what Jett has been through. While he is protecting her from the Order of Salem, Selene is doing some saving of her own. Will she be able to mend her mate's broken heart or will they lose out on the love of a lifetime?

This is the fourth and final book in the series. I have absolutely loved this series. This is Jett and Selene's story. Jett is a love them and leave them kinda wolf. With a past like his it's no wonder he doesn't think he's worthy of love. Selene is a witch with a water affinity. When Jett saves her life she knows that there's something between them. Call it fate of destiny but there's a spark there. Now just to get through to the stubborn wolf. With the final battle looming there's no time for love. Or is there? Selene is determined to show Jett that he's worthy. Can she get Jett to believe? Or will the witch Hunter's get her before she can?

I've always enjoyed Milly Taiden's books, she's one of my favourite PNR authors and an auto-buy for me. Her books are enjoyable to read filled with quirky heroines and alphas who tend to be @ssh*les. Thus it is no surprised that I enjoyed the heck out of this book.

Surrendered in Salem is Book 4 in the Casters & Claws series but it can be read as a standalone. I love how great Milly Taiden is with world building, her characters aren't one dimensional and they're quite fleshed out. The chemistry between Selene & Jett just burns the pages, it was hot & scorching. Selene is no wilting flower kind of heroine, I enjoyed her sassy attitude.

All in all another wonderfully written story by Milly Taiden. Thanks to Booksprout for the ARC, however the views above are all of my own. Pick up this book, infact, pick up the entire series. You will not be disappointed.

This is Jett and Selene's story. Selene loves working with her sister but feels like something is missing in her life . Jett is not looking nor does he want a mate he just wants to keep living the way he is since it seems to work for him .Because he past is a wicked one that I don't know how he overcame so much . But after he saves Selene all bets are off !! Selene knows there is a connection between them but is not sure she could help him deal with some of the things in his past . Wicked good story here !! This is well written and recommend to all !!

Oh my heart! This book was such a great ending to the series! Jett could not fight the mate thing. I love love love when they have conversations with their wolf. I loved Selene’s sweet and spunky personality. She was so nice and she finally found a way to get through to Jett and make him realize he is a good person. When he tells her “I just want to deserve you” broke my heart. The ending was cute with the BBQ and talk of twins. This series is a must read!

Surrendered in Salem may be my favorite of the four stories in this series. Selene is a witch who always looks for the good in people and situations. She is a blessing on this earth. Jett is a grumpy wolf shifter with self esteem issues. He is gorgeous and a total manwhore but he doesn’t think he’s worthy of love and especially not one as good as Selene. When fate throws these two together sparks ignite and we get to watch the conflagration. A wonderful ending to a great story.

Fourth and last book in the series.
Selene went for her morning coffee, she meets handsome stranger, then terrible thing happens, someone is starting shooting.
Handsome stranger change to wolf and she pass out.
According to Jett, he is send to keep her safe because The Order Of Salem wants her and other Bishop ladies killed.
Awesome ending to the series.

Awww Jett, he truly thought he'd wake up to another self loathing day but not if Fate has her way. All Selene wanted was her morning coffee and Danish not threat on her life and a grumpy hero who unfortunately is ringing all her bells ;) Will she be able to break down her grumpy wolf and stay alive long enough? Everything comes full circle in the last book of this sweet and hot series.

I always enjoy a Milly Taiden book. This entire series of wolves and witches has been delightful. If you read the other three books then you know that there is going to be some sassy witch and maybe a little alphahole.

Jett broke my heart with his insecurities and sad past, but Selene was just the witch to make him see the truth with her open and honest heart. This story was so sweet. Loved these two together, Selene was definitely the most open minded of the 4 witches when it came to mates.. I am going to miss these visits to Salem, this was a great series..

This is an OK shifter/witch romance, but the H was hard to like at first. It was better than the first two books in this series, simply because the h was much more likable. It gets 3 stars from me.

Selene was much more likable than the heroines from the first two books. She didn't assume that Jett couldn't be trusted, simply because he was a man -- and she didn't automatically decide he was a jerk, even though he was kind of rude when she first met him. She was willing to give him a chance, and explore her attraction to him. She wasn't even bothered with being his mate, because it appealed to her. I also thought her magical abilities were pretty cool, but I won't give spoilers.

Jett was OK, but he was hard to like at first. He was just so gruff and rude, even to an employee in a coffee shop. His behavior was because of his painful childhood, and he did get a lot better as the story continued. But I was honestly surprised that Selene didn't tell him off after a few of the rude things he said. She just seemed to automatically get that he was damaged.

One other thing, and this is minor, but it is a pet peeve of mine. The characters on the book covers should look like the description of the characters in the books. Both Selene and Jett were described as having blonde hair, but the couple on the cover both have brown hair. This may not be the author's fault, but it still bugs me.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Another wonderful addition to series, you’ll love this book
This was a continuation of the previous books where a group of wolf Alphas and their Betas were given the responsibilities of caring for each of the Bishop twins. All four women born as two sets of twins to two sisters on exactly the same day within minutes of each other had very special abilities and a lineage that went back to the original Salem witches.
Taken to a secluded house in the wolf’s pack land in Marble Head the Order Of Salem would know better than attack her there however her concern was for her sister Astra and knew that she would be reasonably safe there. Jett her wolf protector was rather moody and had also been through a traumatic relationship that had left him feeling rather jaded, it had also left him with a rather bad attitude and temperament and Selene simply would not stand for it.
Jett has a pet rabbit and has kept him as a pet Bugsy who he had cared for since he had found him in his nest as a dying kit and had cared for him being his mother in fact. Selene is so surprised that a wolf could have a rabbit that felt safe under his home and this has made he feel so much safer with Jett, she felt a little happier knowing that Blaze the Alpha was caring for her sister Astra and that she was able to trust them.
Selene might be a witch, but she understands the pull of the mate sense, and as she spends time with Jett and learns his story she is able to appreciate his mannerisms and she is determined that she is going to do everything she could to help fix his broken heart.

4.5 stars

Favorite book of the whole series. Jett may have come across as very gruff in the beginning, but once we got to know his background it his gruffness was much more understandable. He definitely showed his softer side with Selene. Even when he thinks that he doesn't deserve a mate, he looks out for her not just with the witch hunters but in all the little things he does. Selene was probably the least argumentative of the Bishop witches, not that she was a pushover, but she didn't argue against things the wolves were doing to protect her. I thought Jett and Selene were good for each other. Jett looks out for Selene, taking care of her. Selene helps Jett realize his worth, that he is not merely a product of his background.

The pacing was really fast. The timeline was so condensed that even though the MCs were trying to take things slow, they went from just meeting to sleeping together really quickly. I think it might have been better if they could have actually had more time together.

This is book 4 in the Casters & Claws series but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. In this one we get Selene and Jett's story. Selene loves her job of running the Healsome Magic Center alongside her sister. But sometimes he wishes she had something more to her life than work. When she is taken to pack lands for her safety she meet's Jett, and realizes this may be what she has been missing. Jett is a grumpy wolf who doesn't want or need a mate, or so he thinks. But he is sent to keep a witch safe and comes face to face with what he never thought he would have to deal with. Now they both have to decide if they are what they want and need all while keeping her safe.

I always like this author's books and this one was no exception. Jett is definitely grumpy but you also can't help but like him. He has issues from his past that he doesn't want to deal with, and it definitely makes you feel for him while rooting for him to have his HEA. Selene is this strong, independent woman who also knows that she wants to have love in her life. And isn't afraid to fight for the one that is hers. I liked their banter back and forth, and of course their chemistry! Another great read for me!

Jett & Selene

The last book in the series may just be my favorite.

Selene is dedicated to work. She loves her sister but has little time for a personal life. Who would think that a serious threat would put her with a hot, protective, albeit cranky man--well, more than a man. When she saw him shift into a black wolf to go after the armed people who wanted to hurt her she passed out. Waking up she was with sexy man/wolf at his home. He didn't seem more cheerful until a few hints started sneaking out. It seemed his view of himself might not be what other people see.

He wasn't worth having a mate. This beautiful woman deserved more. He'd protect her as his Alpha asked but then he'd send her away. His wolf had plenty to say about that.

Could they find more in life than work? Would he realize his childhood didn't determine his life? Would it even matter if the witch hunters had their way?

I loved Jett and his personality. It was a relief to see that this couple...oh wait, you need to read about that. Enjoy!

Book 4 in Casters and Claws series by Milly Taiden
This is the final book in series which is really gutting I really enjoy this series and hope for maybe sort stories of there hea.
Selene is the last sister and is rescued by Jett while trying to get her Danish pastry fix.
Jett has a massive chip in his shoulders about coming from a broken home but Selene shows him that it’s all in his head and he’s a worthy mate.
I absolutely love this series and even though it repeat slightly in every book because they are start the same way, they all develop differently once the main characters get to together.
I really enjoyed that Selene was the aggressor in the relationship not Jett because he didn’t feel worthy and Selene shows him that he is a loving worthy mate.
If you enjoyed this series then definitely check out her PDA series, this series is part of the MT world which includes many different authors that write in the PDA world with there own characters.

She claimed her mate. - Listened to the Audible version. Great narrators. Jett doesn't think he deserves love, choosing to live a halflife built on one nights vice holding on to the dream of his fated mate. Selene is exactly what he needs and never thought he would have.

I think I liked this one best, with Selene not fighting Jett at every turn about everything. She drew him to herself, as feisty and loving as she had to be. She was insistent that they not deny fate's decree that they be together. And his wolf was a wise beast, seemingly his more reasonable side.
Steamy AF when things heat up, this is the perfect story to end the series, with Jett gaining a new perspective on and the love of his life.

The ending to the Brotherhood was interesting. The disgruntled masses were led to their targets by someone who could feel magic. Mayhap a magical being himself. Ain't that a trip?

Self-doubt is the real enemy

This was such an amazing book. I really enjoyed the way the author built up Jett’s character. I could feel the insecurity flowing all around him, and then she let fate do her thing. She brought him this amazing woman that was everything he needed. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and added the perfect amount of pizzazz to the story. The story itself was amazing and fit perfectly with the previous books, there was so much danger and emotion in this book that I had no choice but to cheer them on every step of the way. It’s so hard to believe this is the last book in the series. I am really looking forward to whatever the author sends my way next.

A romp

Selena is determined to get her wolf, even if she has to chase him down. Jett doesn't think he deserves good things after a harsh childhood, so he's determined to push her away. They're fated mates, so the push and pull doesn't last long.

It's nice to see a story where the woman does a little pursuing. I had to chase my husband a little, for similar reasons.

The story is short, so you don't get to know the characters super well, and the story could've been improved with better editing. There were some grammatical errors and plot problems, such as some comments at the beginning that suggested Jett had a broken heart and him later denying ever having had a meaningful relationship. Overall, it was a fun read.

We finished up the Caster and Claws series by Milly Taiden with the 3rd and 4th book for this episode. Taking place at the same time as the previous 2 books, we follow the “meet - rescue” of Astra and Blaze in Spellstruck in Salem and Selene and Jett in Surrendered in Salem. This set of twins is a bit more open and interested in their fated mate wolf shifters than the first set of Bishop twins. It made for two fun and sexy books to finish up the series. We discuss the hot sex scenes Milly is so good at writing. Also, our frustration with the disconnect between the models on the covers and the character descriptions from the books. In the end, this is a quick, fun, steamy series with four badass witches and 4 hunky wolf shifters!

Milly did an amazing job with the final book in this series. I loved seeing how the four cousins each met their individual mates while their lives were being saved. Selene and Jett's story are unlike the others because while he knows she is his mate...he refuses to accept that thinking she can do better. Selene knows there is something between them and when she finds out she is his mate...she is not letting him get away. Seeing the different wolves in the pack and hearing their back stories brought a depth to Selene and Jett that really brought them to life. I highly recommend reading all 4 books in this series.

This fourth and final book in the Casters and Claws series is hot and sizzling as the three previous books about the Bishops family witches and the coming together with their mates of wolf shifters. The many twists and turns of their adventures and fighting to live by hiding from, confronting, then defeating all the evil that followed them. The end of this book concludes both sets of twin witches and all four wolf shifters live in a happy ever after. I would really love to see if they do and if their further descendants will bring more adventure in the years to come.

Selene loves her work, even working with her very different twin sister! When she becomes the latest witch to be hunted by the crazy Salem Witch hunters, she lands a very cranky, gruff but oh so hot Wolf as a protector.

Jett does not want a mate. Let's just say variety is this man's staple diet! But one cute, magical mystery has dropped into his lap and he is oh so tempted! If only he would listen to his damn wolf more. He knows exactly who Selene is. Now to get the human part of Jett onboard!

I love this mix of perky heroine and a grumpy hero. Great adventure-filled story with a conclusion that ties up all my loose ends.

The 4th and final book in the Casters and Claws series was a fun quick trip back into the world of witches, werewolves and the Order of Salem who want them gone.

Selene just wanted a danish and coffee but when people with guns invade the cafe next to her Holistic Healing centre and the rude man in front of her turns into a wolf she finds herself in the same situation as her sister and cousins. Under Jett’s protection she discovers an instant attraction to the wolf shifter who can’t deny that the sweet witch is his mate.

A little bit sexy, a little bit sweet, if you’re after an insta-love PNR story to pass an afternoon then this series will scratch that itch.

Selene is a witch that is being hunted and Jett is selected to protector her. They run into each other in a Café not knowing who each other is and she doesn’t know she is in danger. She thinks he Is grumpy until she gets to know him. Like all Ms. Tilly books this one keeps you reading from beginning to end. I couldn’t put the book down. We have action and adventure and of course steam and parts that make you laugh. I recommend this one.

This is the last book in the Caster & Claws series and for me it was my favorite of the four books. You don't have to read the entire series to enjoy this book but I do recommend the series as a whole. In this book Jett who is a wolf shifter and is supposed to be guarding one of the 4 Bishop witches who are on the list to be killed first. Each of the wolf shifters who is assigned to guard their witch has met their mate in the previous books so it looks like Jett will meet his with Selene. But of course it will not be that easy and smooth now will it?
