21 original tales of suspense, horror, humanity, and the relentless living dead!
A virus races through Earth and warps the humans in its path into flesh-eating zombies. Zombies or Munchers. Shamblers or Zombs. No matter what you call them, a bite or scratch is all that it takes. Some turn quickly, for others it takes days. Some can spring, others shuffle along. But one thing remains the same: a blow to the brain is the only thing that destroys them.
Amidst the pandemic of 2020, a group of 17 authors aided by the help of the ever-present Twitter, decided to band together to cope with the new normal that had become their lives. Thus, the zombie anthology was born.
An anthology of various zombie fiction, the authors were given three linking components: the setting is Earth, a virus created zombies, and they can only be killed by targeting their brains. The rest was up to each individual author, to interpret as they desired.
Within this collection, you will find unique takes on the zombie short story, from the perspectives of survivors as well as the zombies themselves. You will find stories rooted in humour, stories that will yank on your heartstrings, and stories that make you question your own existence. Lose yourself in a world where your biggest fear is staying alive--and not zombified!
All profits will be donated to the World Federation for Mental Health.
Nikki Mitchell is a writer, editor, and high school English teacher who happily spends her life traipsing through fantasy worlds. She began writing at the early age of five, but it was not until she discovered The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan that she truly found her passion in words.
When not writing or lesson planning, Nikki is busy bookstagramming, hiking with her two German Shepherds, or playing D&D and board games.

Several more weeks of walking this wilderness, escaping the horde, before I would watch his expression rather than the windows.
There are many stories in this amazing anthology, and so far I've read two of them: The Next Tower by Chapel Orahamm and How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse by Nikki Mitchell. Both are fantastic!
HTSTZA gave me Black Summer meets #ALIVE. The ending totally got me. Ooooof. Well done.
TNT was short and wonderfully evocative with amazing prose, whoa.
This anthology has depth and insight in the approach of the different elements to the stories with romance, horror and dystopian world building around zombies. A great read. 5 Stars.
So many wonderful authors here, each with their own take of "The New Normal"! Zombie lovers rejoice! Great reads, each and every one. FYI, don't mess with the Elves!
'The New Normal' is an anthology of twenty-one tales by seventeen authors featuring slice of life shorts about zombies and the apocalypse. It begins with a piece called "Last Shift" by Clinton A. Love, who is one of my favorite authors (it was through him that I originally found the anthology). Again, he did not disappoint.
The story entails a kind security guard as he attempts to bring a senile elderly lady back to the hospital after her umpteenth escape to the store across the road. During this starts the zombie outbreak. It was fun, endearing, and also tugs on the heartstrings, especially toward the end to see the change in the world and in the main character. (I also enjoyed seeing the author's dog in the story, something he has done before.)
I was delighted to find the rest of the tales just as enticing, though all in their own way. Anthologies like this are a great way to find new authors whose work to devour, which is what I plan on doing. There are too many for me to comment on all and it's too hard to choose a few so suffice it to say that if you like zombies, apocalypse, horror, or looking to get into the Halloween spirit: you're in the right place!
Not your average zombie stories. A fresh take on a great topic. Looking for strapped up shooters? Recently retired AT guys. Not here. Want a good read. Take a bit of time.
There are some good stories in this anthology, but there are also some that are very hard to follow. Like most anthologies, hit and miss on the stories.
