Just as beautiful as the first book “How to be a wildflower”. However, the same happens here, most of the activities are meant for people from the US. In spite of that, I love Katie Daisy’s illustrations and artwork. She’s a really talented artist!

I love the nighttime. I love the moon.
I find both peace and energy in those dark hours.
This book speaks to that piece of my soul — encourages it and restores it.
I’m often met with disbelief over my love of winter. Part of that love is for the length of nighttime and the shortness of the days.
As is all of Katie Daisy’s artwork, the illustrations in How to be a Moonflower are beautiful. I’m tempted to buy a copy just to wallpaper an entire wall with these pages! Thankfully, her Etsy shop can supply some of these creations as actual prints to hang (and other delightful pieces).
The thoughts, quotes, recipes, and nighttime ideas sprinkled through out round out this perfectly moon filled inspriation.

I don’t re-read books very often— even visual arts books or poetry books. But this one, I think I will read again and again. And use. It engaged some strange part of me I’d left dormant. It really is a field guide to some of my creative life and internal world.

“For my part I know nothing with any certainty but the sight of the stars makes me dream.” Vincent Van Gogh

As a lifelong night owl, this little book spoke to my soul. Filled with everything related to night - stargazing, nocturnal animals, phases of the moon, folklore, poems, quotes, flowers, ways to enjoy the night, etc. If you enjoy the night/dark as I do, you’ll find something that speaks to you in this book.

Oh my goodness! This book was so incredibly beautiful it almost made me cry! It's etheral and immediately just makes you want to transport to a meadow at dusk and fall in love under the moon. I love the recipes and botanical information shared. The art is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get in touch with their inner moon child and find thanks for the beauty that is night!

Katie Daisy's books (and cards) bring me absolute joy. I kid you not, I pull a Wildflower card in the morning and a Moonflower card at night - Every. Single. Day. <3 The art and warm messages always bring me peace to start and end the day. This book also does that. 10/10

Not impressed by the art, the few words that are her own, or the suggestions she is releasing into the world which could be harmful if not considered to one's own specific situation. IF this had been a personal sketchbook or journal, then I would think it was cute and a sweet way of organizing lists of places to visit or things to do. But being a published book that she is asking people to pay money for doesn't feel fair. Luckily I read it from the library. Although she calls the book a field guide to the night, it drifts further and further away from this goal. By the end, she has completely lost the goal of writing a field guide or even writing based on reality. I am disappointed to say I saw this book shelved in the Science and Nature section at Indigo alongside books with REAL science in them!

Katie Daisy may be a good person who clearly has the discipline to create a fun, cute sketchbook for herself. Writing notes for yourself on how to build a fire are very different than writing instructions though. With root fires left unmentioned, safe and ethical harvesting ignored, invasive plants encouraged, and even precautions about allergic reactions all ignored, this book could actually be harmful to people and/or the environment. Fortunately, because this book is so much of a personal journal project for herself, it's unrelatable to many people that the potential harm that she encourages likely won't have much impact.

How to be a Moonflower is a visual art field guide to the beauties of night. When we think of night, we often think of how dark it is first before thinking about the nocturnal colours. This book concept is very much like that.🌌

It is filled to the brim with stunning illustration with a darker background and bright colours popping from the pages to surprise you with every flick. I had the most fun smuggling with my blanket, cup of tea and this book. It was the must needed rest and artistic creativity I was deprived of. There are many wise quotes and poems by notable writers featured in it.

This book is a tribute to the night that never slumbers, the part of night that dances with fairy dust and the smell of rain. There are recipes, field guides and activities for you to embrace the night. I would encourage you to get the book if you are looking for something that will help you relax or as an investment for your flatly photos. The vivid images in this book makes for wonderful addition to your prop collection as every colour you might want is in the book. They jump from page to page ,brightening any photo.🌸
