Far superior to the last book I read about cheese. I read each page of this to myself like a fairytale, dreaming of the amazing cheese boards I might make if and when pandemic is over. Man I fucking love cheese.
I did, however, discover something ugly and disturbing about myself on Page 76: I fell in love with the idea of queijo de azeitão, a Portuguese soft cheese, and became determined to try it. I called every cheese shop in Portland and couldn’t find it; apparently it’s hard to get in the states. This triggered in me a Veruca Salt-style meltdown because I WANT it, and I want it NOW. Portland is a foodie town! Why can’t I have it?!
I’m still salty about it but I don’t blame the book just because it made me a cheese Karen.
A beautifully illustrated, introductory guide to cheese that encourages the reader to play with their food. In a fun and friendly manner, Stamp takes a potentially intimidating topic and makes it playful. Love, love, love.
one of my favorite topics - cheese - I also loved the illustrations - wish they had gone a bit further a field but still such a great start. Definitely some of my favorites and some left to try. They left out some great cheese - there were no quebec cheese or dutch and was solely focused on europe and north America but still a delicious start.
A beautiful little book that is a massive encyclopedia about cheese and it’s origins. The cows and goats that create the milk, to how the cheese is made in all parts of the world. Then it states what best libations and foods should be paired with each cheese for scrumptious cheese boards. A wonderful little Cheese 101 education.
A tiny edition that has illustrations rather than photos. It is divided into different countries and their offerings. Neat history and drink pairings are included. A cute gift for a cheese lover or small coffee table book.
I fall for beautifully illustrated books like this🤩! This is a very informative book about different cheese varieties. But I still have more to reads about cheese and will decide whether to buy this book as a coffee table read.
great little reference book. wouldn't buy it myself, but would be happy to receive as a gift. beautiful artwork. learned about a few new cheeses that i'd like to try.
A book introducing 50 western cheeses that allows for one to be quickly acquainted with cheese history and their flavour profiles. Illustrations looks great.
