Lizzie and COVID-19 – Priceless!

Lizzie’s world is turned upside down when the COVID-19 Pandemic strikes and suddenly the family are moving in with them for lockdown. Not only is her home now filled with potentially unknown situations, Lizzie is questioning everything and struggling to keep a grip on the latest dramas of her life.

If there was ever a character’s account of what lockdown and the COVID-19 Pandemic was like for them, it would be Lizzie and T.B. Markinson delivered a fantastic account of Lizzie’s experience. I adore Lizzie, and have done since I picked up the first book in the A Woman Lost series. She’s such a unique character and there is a little Lizzie in all of us, so her experiences are so relatable and it’s comforting to know she worries, questions, and thinks about the things we all do.

Throw in being stuck in her house, legally not allowed to leave, with so many people (not sure why Sarah would do that to her when she loves her so much!) and chaos was bound to ensue. It was great though, from realisation of what was about to happen to the world and what it all meant creeping up on Lizzie, to her having to get used to newer family members that you knew were going to be getting on her nerves within minutes, just like all those she was used to.

Not only did they have all the kids, but Maddie and other familiar faces really did make for a light-humoured, time relevant account of a very serious situation we can all identify with. I’m glad I waited to read this rather than reading it when some of the things Lizzie was experiencing really were a reality. It was nice to reflect and know that even Lizzie could handle the madness that was the pandemic!

I can’t believe this is book 8, and even thought I still have book 9 in the series to read, I really hope that won’t be the end of Lizzie’s adventures (even if I have to wait 20 years for the next one!).

There's another one!!!

When the last book in the series came out, I thought that was it, but then wham another book with the promise of another one!!! This is a series favorite on mine amd I love Lizzie. Truth be told Sarah made me a bit mad in this one and I have to admit siding with Lizzie on almost every aspect. I will say I'm interested to know more about Willow and Maddie especially after Lizzie pointed something out to Maddie.
Fans of the series will enjoy this addition.

I was so excited when I got the news about another Lizzie book. This was so unexpected in the most positive way. And once more I felt so close to Lizzie and all her feelings. This time the pandemic hits her like the whole world. And because her wife Sarah loves being around people what’s better than invite a whole bunch to their house to live with them until the worst is over...
Of course this is a lot to deal for Lizzie, who needs her space to breathe. Once more I was cheering for her because like in all the books before even people say they love her sometimes have a funny way showing her and respect her boundaries. And well I probably won’t ever be a fan of Maddie. On the other hand all the moments with the kids (especially Freddie, love him so much) were just beautiful. 😍
Anyway at some point there was a huge surprise. Even if I have to say it shouldn’t have been a surprise for me. Everything made so much more sense and thinking back I really should have thought of it before. I don’t wanna say more. Just if you read the other books in the series and are a fan of Lizzie, this is a must read.

The sentence that stuck with me definitely was „just because I‘m different, doesn’t give her the right to treat me poorly.“ Bravo. 👍

I can’t thank TB enough for this wonderful surprise and once more for another fantastic book. 🙏 and of course I’m hoping for a next book in the series.

I liked this one a lot. It really resonated with me. First, it’s an unexpected Lizzie book and second, it delves into Lizzie’s psyche during the pandemic. I can just see her doing and saying all those things that drive everyone else crazy. Some scenes were funny or poignant. Sarah is so patient with her, even when Lizzie thinks otherwise. For someone so aloof and needing to be isolated, Lizzie has an incredible family and support system, even if she may have issues. I can’t say more without spoilers so I’ll stop there. If you like Lizzie and her friends and family, you’ll enjoy this.

I've read several of these books, but not in order, or the whole series, I loved all I've read. But this one resonates with me. You fall in love with Lizzie as Sarah did. I found myself laughing out loud at how Lizzie perceived things.
I'd recommend this book to anyone! 5 stars!

Here’s the thing for me. I love the character of Lizzie but sometimes she really gets on my nerves. That can sometimes be a good thing when reading a character. I’m still chewing on that one. I’ll get back to you on it another time perhaps. As far as Lizzie goes, I probably get more frustrated with those around her. So, I’d say Markinson does a good job with making her characters complete. And I love character-driven stories.

I have to say I didn’t think I would read a story that had anything to do with COVID-19, in that we here in the U.S. have had the most incompetent governmental response to a global pandemic. But I found Lizzie’s response to it almost comforting. Who could have guessed that! And we even learned something new about the character that offers even more insight into her “quirky” character. No spoilers allowed, but I think you will go, that makes sense!

It seems that Markinson has been able to allow her characters to grow and become even more interesting with new twists, characters, and events to move them forward—not become stagnant or boring. Just sayin’. And if you haven’t read Lizzie’s story yet, do start with the first book. She’s a real character; sorry couldn’t help myself.

Trapped was never so much fun

I find Lizzie and her whole family so endearing. I know Lizzie has so issues and gets stressed out I would too with that many people. I just find her take on everything so charming that it makes me laugh. Sarah is very loving and understanding with her. They are still so hot for each other it wonderful to see. I couldn’t have picked a a better family to be on lockdown with. This is a must read book. I love it 🥰.

This is the ninth book in Markinson’s A Woman Lost series. Markinson lead her readers to believe that they’d seen the last of Lizzie, Sarah and their tribe with A Woman Complete, but apparently she had one more story to tell. This series has so much appeal; it’s a lovely surprise to see A Woman Trapped added to the series.

I remember stumbling upon the first book in this series several years ago. I fell in love with the characters immediately. Lizzie and Sarah were, and still are, irresistible. Markinson has always just nailed the character development of these two. They have unquestionable depth and dimension. She knows how to breathe life in them to make them real and relatable. Their unique and quirky personalities jump right off the page.

In addition to Lizzie and Sarah, there are some wonderful supporting characters in this series. Readers have come to enjoy these supporting characters as they’ve watched this series grow and develop. One of the main reasons for this is because Markinson knows the value of good secondary characters. She uses them to push not only the story arc, but the character arc of her leading ladies. Her use of this literary technique makes for entertaining and engaging reading.

Lizzie, one of the lead characters, is perhaps one of my all-time favorites in a lesfic series; she’s just so well-developed. Readers are charmed by her dry wit and clumsy nature. Sarah, Lizzie’s “better half,” is the other lead in this series. She’s smart, caring, loyal and a bit protective of those she loves. Together, their chemistry is just plain fantastic. They make for a very compelling and dynamic couple.

Their story arc in this one might be the best one to date. It is just so relevant and enthralling. Markinson uses the pandemic as a backdrop to create heaps of drama for Lizzie, Sarah and crew. There is a raw, unfiltered honesty that is on full display between the characters, especially Lizzie and Sarah. The fear and uncertainty looks and feels real. The dialog communicates the emotions so perfectly. It all comes together superbly to give readers something that is organic, impactive and timely. This is a very touching and heartfelt story.

Final remarks…

I would absolutely recommend A Woman Trapped to readers. For those who haven’t read any of the books in this series, I’d wholeheartedly recommend starting it. The characters are fresh and original. The dialog is sharp and quick. The storytelling is all around entertaining. Markinson really does a wonderful job creating something for lesfic readers to enjoy.

Strengths…

Well-written
Well-told
Well-developed characters
Great dialog
Timely and current

In a world where normal does exit on your scale how does a trapped women stay one step short of crazy.

It has been a delight to have book 8 in the Lizzie series- a dream come true. The setting is during covid but is so beautifully written. I found relief in seeing how Lizzie and her extended family navigated. The characters are more than witty, always loving, even in the odd moments of life and Lizzie finds another level of understanding. On a good day people are difficult for Lizzie so this lockdown time is a he'll of its own. Her family, Sarah, Fred, Ollie, Calvin and Demi are more that a handful. Add Rose and Troy, Maddie and her Girlfriend Willow for a recipe in hilariously awful moments. I loved each and every moment with kids with a heart full of joy. The dialogue in Lizzie's heart often out did what came out. Such laughter, fun and even a little sympathy for Lizzie as she felt trapped in her ow space. T.B. Markinson did not disappoint with these amazing characters taking a journey of 2020 in grand fashion. I enjoyed the every moment of this read, laughed out loud, chuckled often and felt my heart fill so many times. Even in a time of a pandemic the gift of family and love still wins. Thank you T. B. and I confess I hope for more.

I received an advance copy to review.

This unexpectedly tapped into a lot of emotions and feelings. This books starts as the world is shutting down for the Pandemic. The first chapter with Lizzie trying to get on a plane to get home to her family drew me instantly. I remember being in France and wondering if we’d get back in our country. (We did, but on the last before shut down and with rearranged and missed flights.) Sarah adjusts to the new normal in her way by inviting others, her mom and husband, and Maddie’s latest to stay with them. A full house is always stressful to Lizzie and this book lets you into her mindset and it’s fascinating. Kudos to Markinson for the surprise that makes perfect sense. I wonder if she always knew this aspect to Lizzie or if she added it later.

It is a twist to see the always supportive Sarah (who I adore) have the bickering conflicts that come from the family being trapped together. She tries hard to keep Lizzie from wallowing in her head. But in hindsight she isn’t respectful of Lizzie’s boundaries. I love the arguing scene in the bedroom where Lizzie shares her fears and it is almost overwhelming. There is still love. playful banter and sweet family time. And since the author in her news letter shares the fact that she owns multiples of a funny shirt it was fun to see that show up in the story as well. I haven’t loved reading about the pandemic yet in books but this one I’m embracing. (4.5 stars)

Another Lizzie book! Yes, yes yes!

First, I wanna say I love TB. Forever.
I can't wait for the next one in the series.
Reading Lizzie again brought me out of slump
After reading some average books I couldn't seem to connect with.

Btw, about this continuation of the series... Am I the only one who's getting more irritated of the way Sarah and Maddie always tag teaming 'against' Lizzie? At one point, I just wanted Lizzie to snap at them or whatever.

That's all!

This whole series is amazing, and I’m glad that they didn’t end it after the previous novel as was initially the plan. I am reading the whole series as a binge, and I absolutely recommend it as the best way to experience it. Each entry doesn’t always have all of the resolution that I would want in a standalone novel. but as a continuing series it’s a great ride. This series has some incredibly well developed and established characters and a solid foundation of cannon/plotline to springboard off of (at this point in the series).

This one didn’t quite match up to the previous few novels in the series, but it still hit the 5-star mark for me. If it was standing alone, it would have only been 4-stars I think, but standing on the previous entries and knowing that there are more coming I’m giving it full marks. I think this one was simply on the short side for me, and it didn’t go into as much detail as I would have liked considering the timeline that passed during the novel. I would have liked to see more day-to-day scenes and interactions while they are all locked in together. This is particularly the case with the relationship between Lizzie and Willow; they mentioned the friction, but we didn’t really get to see very much of it on the page. Willow was also surprisingly undeveloped as a character, which is not usually the case with this author/series.

This novel was a look (back) into the lockdown period of Covid-19, which is a setting I don’t see very often. Everyone had a very different experience during the pandemic, and it is interesting to see, and revisit, that situation. I can see why the author resumed the series given the pandemic setting, as it certainly is a situation that would be interesting to see Lizzy live through.

I’m looking forward to the next instalment of the series. Remember to read this series in order!

Pandemic hits Lizzie and Sarah

The reality of COVID has hit Lizzie and Sarah. While they try to figure out their new normal, Lizzie has to adjust to changes. Laugh out loud with the Petrie clan as they endure the pandemic and each other, because the Petrie clan is always entertaining. I love this family and look forward to more in A Woman Lost series by T.B. Markinson.

I have read every book in the “A Woman Lost” series and I think A Woman Trapped is the best book in the series.

If you read T.B. Markinson’s blog, then you will see the real life events of Markinson’s life replayed through Lizzie...and her family’s eyes and it is freaking hilarious. There are tits (get your head out of the gutter!), oranges, and trips to real places.

You will also get to view how those of us in Massachusetts trod through the pandemic. COVID-19 hits the Petrie family and its extended family as it has hit everyone: hard, fast, and with stupefaction. How do we manage in this new world? Well if you are anything like Lizzie, you handle it with panic of course (laugh).

I actually think Lizzie handled it pretty much as I have and this is the funny thing. This is the eight book about the Petries and this is the first one that I realized: I am Lizzie! Or maybe Lizzie is me. But, Markinson has never met me (laugh). Hmmm...maybe because we both live in Massachusetts? Osmosis in action rainbows.

For whatever reason, Lizzie seemed relatable to me in this novel and I identified with her actions so much more. Maybe because Markinson was able to tap into what every human was experiencing, or viewing someone they loved doing and giving us an ability to laugh about it. Markinson inserts real-life incidents and I laughed aloud.

Who hasn’t been pissed when someone does something we would never do? I have totally been mad about the above quote. Like: Seriously?!

This is the first time in the series that I pick Lizzie as my favorite character. Maybe it is because I am in a different place or because I have issues with self-acceptance (laugh). Markinson makes A Woman Trapped feel new and familiar. All of the familiar voices are there, but Lizzie’s actually sounds the loudest. She is not drowned out by the antics of the other characters. Lizzie’s voice was finally heard by me.

Like some couples, Lizzie and Sarah end up growing closer during this period of quarantine. I love how Markinson ensures that “lesbian bed death” does not happen to this couple. I also love how after all of this time, Lizzie still lusts after Sarah. There is a comfort in that continuity.

If you have never read a book in the series, that’s okay. A Woman Trapped can actually be read as a standalone. This is a family’s love story during COVID. It is also a woman’s journey to self-awareness in the midst of isolation. Markinson gives us laughter, romance, and Lizzie high-jinks. Markinson also still manages to throw in a surprise at the end.

If you want a married couple surviving to “happily-ever-after” in this crazy time, then A Woman Trapped is for you. Laugh. Love. And keep Lizzie away from online ordering...just saying.

This is a surprise book of the beloved A Woman Lost series, being book 8. This one, as every book in the series, is a wonderful read. I had a lot of fun with this one, I love Lizzie so much. Lockdown Lizzie style, I knew was going to be a good one.

Lizzie doesn’t do changes well, so what happens when she has to deal with COVID-19 and a full house?

To say I am beyond ecstatic there’s another book in the series is an understatement. I am euphoric Lizzie is back, I was missing her so much.

I love, absolutely love this series, and to see Lizzie going through the same as us in these crazy times, but in her very Lizzie style, is an absolute delight. I relate so much with her, that there are times I suspect TB spies on me to write her lol. I love that no matter how crazy things get, she can always count on her family, her support system, and mostly Sarah, their relationship is the best, it is so wonderful how strong they are and how much they have grown as a couple.

What Lizzie suspects, I've suspected since book 2. I'd love to see more of the story; the end was left open to have more of this series and to enjoy more from one of my most beloved characters in lesfic, Lizzie.

Let's hope she keeps being in TB's head to give us more of her stories. On that note, I want to thank TB because this provided blissful times with Lizzie and the Petries.

This is a must-read whether you are a fan of the series or not, is fun, is relatable and simply wonderful.

I received an ARC copy of the book from the author and voluntarily leaving my review.

just a word to miss markinson' i adore you. your highness,
5 stars isn't inough for lizzie and sarah, it should be at least 10 or more,
i did get whot the whole housefull was doing to poor lizzie, whot i didnt get was why the fixation on willow, i did get the disquite in her mind that she wasnt consolted it is her house as wall for gods sake

yes it was nice for the 2 mains to have some togetherness times but i would have liked for them to be able to put some time each day (not bedtime ) just to be together not neserceraly for sex but just to she being together for an hour away from all the termole in the rest of the house, and lizzie's little hideaway sarah could have shared that alone time as well.

the tits shirt was a great idea and so sad that everyone found out before she had a chance to surprise them all ( especealy her wife,

lizzie has always been my faverite m/c since book one, she speaks to me in ways no one else does
even though the othere's suport her mainly right back from book one why do they treat her like shit to her face she's a darling girl and desuves beter from suposed friends, even sarah some times just to humiliate her, and maddie needs some time with a customer care team like a month.

the weekend away was nice but lizzie needs alone time every day not once in a blue moon,

to finish i am so glad that we'er in for another instalement in lizzie's story and wish you mis markinson the best of health in these troubling times

Since Lizzie and Sarah moved to a suburb of Boston with their four children and a host of animals, for some unknown reason they decided to have Maddie move in with them. I have to admit I find Maddie to be a despicable character and I don’t know how Sarah and Lizzie keeps her within their friends family. Lizzie was in Colorado visiting her family when the pandemic hit and without asking, Sarah moved in her mother Rose and Troy along with Maddie’s new partner Willow into the house to live with them. Given Lizzie doesn’t like to be around people you knew this was a set up for disaster for the poor woman. She is quite angry with Sarah but these two have a way of not being able to stay angry with one another for longer than a day before they’re back making love and talking about what had happened. Since we all live through the staying indoors when the Covid pandemic hit I can’t imagine having to maneuver that in Lizzie shoes who does not do well with change and feels she needs to take care of everyone within the house because that is her nature. The challenges and triumphs that both Lizzie and Sarah go through during this time as expressed in this book is just outstanding. Markinson has an terrific way of developing stories and expanding what we know about characters in this series. I absolutely love this book, despite Maddie being in it and I certainly hope there’s more to this series because I can’t get enough of Lizzie.

Fantastic Book!
I must confess that I am a huge fan of this series and was delighted that a new book came out. I think Lizzie is one of my all time favorite characters and that is saying a lot as I am an avid reader.
This book takes place during the Covid Pandemic and tells about how a family copes with everything from shopping online, working from home and trying to new activities to help them keep sane while being together in a house continuously.
Lizzie just wants her alone time and Sarah wants to be with with family. It beautifully tells how they cope with a full house including children differently and how they make it work.
Lizzie realizes something about herself that I think fans of the series have long recognized about her. She copes with it in usual Lizzie fashion by researching the heck out of it.

Another Lizzie story? Umm, heck yes!

I love this series so much. Lizzie is such an endearing character (besides book one) I was satisfied with Lizzie’s story coming to an end with A Woman Complete even though I was immensely sad to see these characters for the last time as they feel like family. I am so grateful to see Lizzie’s story continue, and this book does reopen the door and I can’t wait to see what shenanigans Lizzie will get up to in the future. This series never goes the way I expect it. This story ended too soon and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Lizzie does not like change, so a global pandemic is not good for her mental health. I loved the focus on the depth of her struggles. In previous stories Lizzie’s struggles both internal and external are (relatively, sort of) easy to defuse, usually a big blow up or break down then move on but that is not possible in A Woman Trapped as everyone is quarantining in her house and she struggles to adapt.

A Woman Trapped features many staples of a Lizzie story. A sweet and honest romance full of passion and love, hilarious Lizzie slip ups, family drama, and a cast of lovable and complex characters.

This contemporary romance series is truly phenomenal. I loved getting to watch Lizzie handle all of the craziness 2020 brought and the love that emanates from this chaotic family.

Oh my goodness, in A Woman Trapped, TB was able to capture the entire essence of the pandemic and the many, many challenges that families are faced with all under the one roof of Lizzie Petrie and family. I have truly missed all their quirks and crazy relationships. Through inner dialogue, the reader is privy to relevant aspects of how and why Lizzie responds to stressors so differently than the rest of her family and friends. In this surprise installment of A Woman Lost series, Lizzie confronted, and maybe even accepted, everything that makes her unique and special. Lizzie and the pandemic? What a generous gift to her fans. Just wow!!!

Trapped

The title says it all to describe life in the time of a pandemic. Like Lizzie, I washed everything that came into my house from the outside. I dated my masks to make sure I washed them in a timely manner. I am a nurse and have just recently relaxed my cleaning frenzy but I am still cautious. I could relate to many of Lizzie’s fears. This book highlighted so many ways that things can go wrong in this pandemic. I’m glad it shows some imaginative ways of coping with the stress of living with the threat of COVID-19.

I delayed starting this book because after reading the ‘blurb’ I really thought it would annoy me, unfortunately I was right. I still quite liked Lizzie, even though she can be a bit irritating at times, but Sarah and Maddie were beyond irritating. If I had to live with them during lockdown they would have driven me insane.

The basic story is about Sarah and Covid creating a difficult situation for Lizzie and then watching as Sarah and the rest continuing to build up the pressure on her. If possible I would have given 2.5 stars.

Excellent as always, as per normal I could not wait to start this book and almost missed some sleep to finish it, had a permanent smile on my face and a few laughs escaped as well, bring a lighter side to serious issue with this world wide pandemic, once again showing that no matter where in the world you find yourself we all have the same fears and trouble with COVID, thanks for giving a little light in dark times TB.

My favorite so far.

I was so excited to see the new book on Lizzie and the gang. The book was a wonderful surprise because I thought the series has ended and actually re-read them because I love the series so much. I appreciate the story being done in real time and that the way Lizzie was feeling is a lot like how I feel with everything going on. This is a must read for anyone who needs their feelings validated and know your not alone.

I’m sure I was not the only shocked and excited to see Lizzie and Sarah again. And let me tell you I was not disappointed! I felt like I was there with them experiencing all the fear, uncertainty, love and happiness. There were also quite a few times I laughed out loud at the banter. What can I say I’m a sucker for the A Woman Lost series and after the trying year we’ve all had this was a breath of fresh air. It was like seeing old friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful!

I'm so glad to find at least two (for now anyway) more books about Sarah and Lizzie and all of Lizzie's quirks. The pandemic is the ultimate stressor for someone like Lizzie! Here we are, two years into it, and there are no real signs of it slowing down anytime soon. I wonder how Lizzie will deal with everything. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book and more of Lizzie's self-realizations. This series belongs on all lesfic fans must read lists!
