Loud, gutsy and ballsy, Saira Khan won the hearts of the nation in the first series of the smash hit BBC2 TV programme The Apprentice. In P.U.S.H. for Success Saira shares the secrets of her success.Saira has already proved herself to be highly motivated and brilliant at inspiring people to recognise and realise their full potential. Coming from a strict Muslim background - her parents and her brother were all born in Pakistan before emigrating to the United Kingdom - she has had to work hard to throw off the stereotypical image young Muslim women have and to prove herself in twenty-first century Britain. Using Saira's unique four-pronged approach - P = Be Proactive; U = Understanding; S = Sell Yourself; H = High Standards - and written in her lively, inimitable style, P.U.S.H. for Success will let some of the Saira factor into your life.
Saira Khan is a genius! She has written no-nonsense, straightforward tips and techniques to achieve 'success' in life. How we define 'success' may mean different to you than what it means to me. It could be getting a lover's approval, being with family and friends or expecting to add a new member to your family (I mean, a baby) and for someone else, it could be buying their own house or getting a paid job or managing a career change. Well, you get the idea. But basically, we all strive to achieve 'more' in life, in terms of what life offers us.
In this book, she has given what I can describe as a 'booster', that 'kick' or in Saira's words, a PUSH, a motivation that we all need badly, to achieve that pending dream. She tells you step-by-step, how to make your dream a reality, and get successful in life.
It is a great self-help, motivational/inspirational book which guides in a simple manner. Every chapter has an action plan templates, which can make your daily routine better to achieve the targets you have set for yourself.
She gets to the point and tells from her own life experiences, what worked for her. I could relate to her Pakistani upbringing in spite of living in Britain and how she faced a challenge to overcome cultural gaps and still made a way for herself. From her salesperson job to appearing on The Apprentice (TV show), as well as choosing a White British guy to marry, and her effort to take part in a marathon, all decisions that she made in her life, showed me how focused and self-assured she was. Also, how she stood up for what she believed in, no matter how hard it was for her at times. I not only liked her honest style of writing but also her approach towards life.
A must-have book for all those who don't sit and wait for life to happen, instead they 'make things happen' for themselves. It is definitely my best read of this year so far!
p.s. I found this book when I was googling her, after watching her on 'Loose Women' (British day-time talk show). I am glad I bought the book, in my opinion, Saira is an eloquent talker and a brilliant writer.
