Collette O’Riley lives a comfortable life with her brother and her routines, but the baker’s smile stirs something inside her heart she didn’t realize she wanted. How can she fulfill this desire for a husband except to ask for the new matchmaker’s help? When her life is threatened, she learns the depth of the baker’s feelings for her.
William Sandoval is a successful baker who could provide well for a wife, but protocol prevents him from fraternizing with the only females he encounters, his customers. Learning that Marianne Gordon is willing to help the local business owners with matchmaking gives him hope for finding a wife. To his surprise, the match Marianne identifies for him has been the very customer who had stirred his heart all along.
Will these two find a way to get what they both want? Can love overpower doubts and confusion?

Collette O’Riley is lonely. William Sandoval "Liam" owns a bakery where she shops to purchase tea biscuits often. Liam has noticed her beauty and is just as lonely. Marrianne Gordan, Wife of Pinkerton Archie Gordon has become known about Denver for her skills at matching Lady Pinkertons to their prospective husband/detectives. She doesn't see it as a big deal, but many about town searching for love do! She is approached to do this privately also. Hearing about it, Collette decides that she will talk to her and have her find a person to share her life with. She has a surprise waiting for her when Marianne matches her with Liam! Both of them are happy with the choice and the adventure begins! Drama, a bit of excitement, a jailbreak and best of all an HEA. What more can you ask. Lynn Donovan's books are the kind you want to fall into and live the story! Her characters are well written from the heart. The story lines are fantastic! You are going to love this book!
The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story that is full of action and includes doubt, confusion, danger, false accusations, a jailbreak and romance. This is Collette O'Riley and William Sandoval 's ("Liam") story. Liam, a local baker, is attracted to Collette, a daily customer of his bakeru, but proper propriety of the day requires that he not court a customer. They both contact Marianne's bridal service (from the former Pinkerton series) to help each of them; Collette decides to become a MOB and Liam requests a MOB. Marianne matches the two of them but then trouble comes to call and Liam is arrested by Collette's brother. Can the couple untangle the web of danger and reach a HEA. Be sure to read this action packed story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This was cute. Lovely to see friends from the Pinkerton Matchmaker in this new series. Marianne is now married and life is good but she misses the excitement of helping at the Pinkerton office. She's agreed to help a few of the local businessmen find wives. Surely if she helped make good matches between agents, she can help these men find suitable brides. Her first potential bride is Collette. She already lives in Denver with her brother, the local Deputy. Marianne thinks the Baker might be a good match, not knowing that they have already met. Will this be another good match by Marianne? Will Collette's brother be ok with a suitor for his sister? This was well written, clean and cute. The Pinkerton Matchmaker was my favourite series so I'm enjoying being able to visit that setting again, with a twist.
It was so good to visit with Marianne, Archie and Pearl again, with a few cameos from other Pinkerton agents. Thank you, Lynn Donovan. Marianne really hasn’t changed and she is doing what she did before, managing Archie. As he said “she was headstrong and determined…and a redhead.” I foresee some really fun matches in the future, hopefully not as eventful as Collette and William/Liam’s match. What am I saying we all know they won’t go smoothly? Marianne needs a challenge. I wonder if Patrick and Esther Rose will be a match or is someone different out there for them?
This is a sweet almost mail order bride tale. It was written by Lynn Donovan and she has done a excellent job. There is plenty adventure and excitement along with a tad bit of humor. Mrs Marianne ‘s first match of her own mail order bride agency is the local baker snd the town deputy’s sister. They realize after meeting that they have met before in his bakery and like each other as friends. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
. . . É uma leitura F(. . .), desculpe pela palavra, eu amei 🖤. . . Amei! . . Boa Leitura 😘
This series is off to a great start with the character reprisals of Marianne and Pearl from the highly acclaimed and recommended series of Pinkerton Matchmaker. Readers always knew it was truly Marianne who created the couples for Archibald Gordon, the head of the Pinkerton Denver office. Here, Marianne begins her own matchmaker business and we meet Collette who will become her first bride, but in between there is a mystery afoot!
Colette is a regular in Liam’s bakery and not just for his sweets but she likes him, a lot. Liam can’t court one of his costumers but he wants to get married. Marianne Gordon, who we know as the assistant of the Pinkerton office but now is a happy housewife, starts as a matchmaker. Her first one is a perfect match until danger finds them..... First story in this spin-off of the Pinkerton series. Really enjoyable, fun characters. Waiting for the next in the series.
Collette lives her brother, Patrick, as both their parents have passed away. She yearns for a man to become her husband. She is drawn to Liam, who owns the bakery. He seems interested her as well, but she talks herself into thinking he’s that way with all the female customers. Liam had deep feelings for her, but worries it will hurt his business.
When a local woman starts a matchmaking business, both Collette and Liam apply.
This book does a good job of setting the scene for Marianne’s new business venture and shows us her first match. I did feel that about half way through the author started wrapping up the story more for the sake of “getting everything in” than actually developing the plot. Still, it was a quick and enjoyable read, so I will definitely stick around for others in the series.
What a great story , with jailbreaks, friends and new beginnings. Collette and the baker hide their interest and without the matchmakers help would not have probably taken the step further. A jail breakout, a cake and a feud all play a part in pushing this relationship. What a great way to start a new endeavor..full of excitement.
This was so well written and engaging from the start. Collette and her friend Esther Rose have such a beautiful relationship. A mail order bride in her own time, a dashing baker and a mild flirtation lead the story with a side note of outlaw thrown in. A great start to this series and I can’t wait for Esther’s story.
She had this story just busting with action.. A lace making little sister to the local sheriff gets kidnapped and rescued by her Soon to be fiance the Baker.. After her brother was injured.. I mean how much more could she have added.. Oh yeah a multli town investigation on a gang who was creating chaos far and wide.. I mean she left nothing out!
Collette O'Riley enjoys the time she spends in life with her brother Patrick, the town deputy and her best friend Esther Rose Givens. While Collette is happy she desires to marry and settle down and she dreams of settling with the town baker WIlliam(Liam) Sandoval. Will utilizing the town matchmaker help her and Liam come together? This is a short, sweet historical romance.
This is a sweet, clean book that gets this series started. Read the story of Collette and Liam and learn why Marianne starts her mail-order bride business. Lynn Donovan is an excellent storyteller and this book is a fine example. The characters are likeable and the story line was great. If you like historical western romance you are sure to love this book.
Collette and Liam's story was so good! It's a well written matchmaker bride romance with a twist, they already know each other. It has just enough suspense and action to keep you turning the pages. This book was a joy to read. I received a complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are my own.
If the book is any indication, this series is going to be great. This story was not mushy as you would expect when a couple is already interested in each other. I am glad of this. It had love, danger, struggle. It was good.
This is a well written book that brings to life a set of characters that are very well defined and a storyline that draws the readers interest. Looking forward to next book.
Liam- a baker in town Collete- orphaned sister of the deputy I enjoyed reading this loving story with fated love and a little drama. Their story has a lovely hea. KU
