This is my first read by R.D. Shah and, in hindsight, I think I should have started at Book 1 in this series and read them in order, to get to know the "hero", having said that I quite enjoyed this first foray! The Ark is at the root of this story putting another slant on the reason for the Ark (instead of Noah). The novel brings to the here and now, modern day Knights Templar and their allies, the Guardians and a new enemy in the Misrath.

Last in the series and again a fast paced, action packed read. Alex Harker is again saving the world, this time from his old enemies the evil Mithras. The story, like the previous ones, has elements of historical fact mingled with speculation and legend but the overall storyline is good. These stories remind me of the James Bond stories… good vs evil with plenty of edge of seat stuff going on wondering who will come out on top..I have enjoyed the series and the door is always open for a reprise.

A heart-pounding thriller in the fifth edition of the Harker Chronicles by R.D. Shah. After vanquishing the Magi, another brutal foe in the form of Mithras has resurrected from the hidden past challenging the Templars who have bestowed upon themselves the duty to serve and protect humankind. Following a failed attempt by Mithras, led by Father John Davies (Uncle of Alex Harker) to persuade the protagonist Alex Harker to switch sides from Templar to a Mithra, their vengeance is about to take a new twist just as Alex is about to get married to Dr. Chloe. The team responsible for the security of Prof. Alex reports the whereabouts of a Mithra Assasin Avi Legrundy, whom the Templars have been on a manhunt. After a fierce gunfight, the templars are aghast to see a humanoid-type figure, with elliptical eyes and strange features. Their first lead of investigation takes them to the murky depths of the Strait of Gibraltar, to an underwater pyramid-shaped structure where they discover the knowledge of a civilization that had existed even before the known presence of mankind. A sub-species of the homosapiens, called the Anunaki, with strange elliptical eyes in the custody of Mithras, was found to possess extraordinary knowledge of the universe and the secret to the revival of the human race in the event of an apocalypse. Prof. Alex begins to connect the dots and infers that the Mithras are in pursuit of this secret to control all of mankind and he must stop them from securing these texts. His chase takes him to the Swiss Alps and finally to the deserted island of North Sentinel, in the Bay of Bengal, which is deemed to house these secrets. Together with his friend, Dean Lurcher, and templar security, Prof Alex is in a race against time to safeguard these secrets. Meanwhile, Sebastian Brulei and Alex Schroeder team up to decimate the very foundation of Mithras. A nail-biting thriller entwining history and fiction without ruining the reader's enjoyment and keeping them on the edge. Hope to read yet another saga of Harker Chronicles.

Alex Harker Saving the world

Again. The Templar story line is intriguing throughout the series. Great entwining of history and fiction as well as enough action to usher the story along in a way that made it difficult to put down. Read this and enjoy.

I would actually give it 4.5 stars. This story would appeal to Clive Cussler and James Rollins readers. It was a relatively quick and fast paced story: I particularly enjoyed the Annunaki element.

Although I enjoyed this it’s premise was a bit more far fetched than the previous novels in the series. It looks like there is more to come judging by how this book ends- interesting to say the least.
