182 Chapters As if it wasn’t enough for me to be reincarnated as a child in the slums, I was taken to a city of crime and became a test subject. But then, when I saw the man that came to destroy the research institute, I realized that this was the world of an angst-filled reverse harem novel.
While living a relatively normal life after escaping from the institute, the heroine of the novel moved in next door. From the looks of it, I might be the heroine’s neighbour extra. Originally, the heroine was to save the unconscious and fatally wounded villain and in return, be subject to a fanatical obsession.
But, why. Why is the sub-villain collapsed in front of my house?
The sub-villain, Lakis Avalon, was the king of the underworld and the very same frightening man that I had met at the institute before.
“…”
I took a moment’s glance around then I kicked the man’s body away.
The romance was the only thing I liked about this book. Everything else was confusing and boring. Maybe I was just too focused on when I’ll get my next tiny dose of romance that I felt like everything else was in my way instead. That said, the “special” attraction in their romance was never ever explained. I barely liked any character now that I think about it, except maybe Gilbert, a normal, normal person.
4 stars because by the time it ended I didn't care about the plot anymore and only wanted some Yuri x Lakis action 😂 but it's fine, it's okay, i'm not salty at all :/ (AUTHOR U SLY ASS BITC-) but i did get kiss scenes so it's fine I guess *rolls eyes*
181 chapters and miss author couldn't give me a damn proposal lmao but it's been a fun 181 chapters, the plot was really good and well detailed, all about how heretics came to be and the mysterious stone that created them. But there are still some aspects that were left unexplained like why Yuri suddenly felt a rush of emotion only whenever Lakis touched her, but I guess it's because of his powers or something.
Anyways, Yuri is a badass. I have a thing for stone cold emotionless but powerful female characters. And Lakis is a villain through and through and he's just so good lol I loved that he stayed true to his personality and that the author didn't magically turn him into a nice guy, even though he helped people out sometimes but it was only because Yuri was there AND I LOVED IT. The '' villain who only sees you and would destroy the world and kill people for you '' trope is what 👌🏻I live 👌🏻 for ✨✨✨✨
I liked Anne Marie and Hestia, they were just real sweet girls who deserve the best. Kalian and his entire family can suck it because I do not care about them and why did he have to '' keep his father's honor '' like bitch ur dad is a criminal! Locking him up in a room in his mansion is doing him a favor, f off!!!. Damon and Genos were funny as welllll though I didn't really care about any of the other male characters because.. Well.. Lakis existed and that mf outshines anyone else😂😂😂
I HOPE THIS BECOMES A WEBTOON BECAUSE MY BABIES ARE TOO GORGEOUS TO STAY AS JUST WORDS.
First of all, this is a slow burn romance so patience will be key. After around 50+ chapters of teasing and playing around this ship, the author finally gave us some crumbs.. I've seen plenty of people who dropped this cause they got bored since nothing romantic is happening but I digress that that's the best part since the author allows the novel to have pacing that gives a lot of moments for characters to develop and get to know them. This one is heavy in plot and mystery, and not a basic story line that revolves around the romances between the main leads but an actual plot plenty of mystery, fantasy and action. Another thing I liked is the friendship between Yuri and the OG Heroine. I just love women loving and supporting other women and proves that you don't need to pit women against each other to make a compelling story.
All in all, I think this is a pretty good KR novel so give it a try! Happy reading-

Tbh, i don't remember when i started and when i finished reading this book but it was the year 2021. I read this book through the translator (you can find them at novelupdates) and this book isn't THE most exciting. The plot was okay, for me it was kind of boring but it start to get a little bit better after yuri start to showcase her power. And i thought this was going to be another reverse harem and a b!tchy heroine which is not and I'm grateful for that. The ending was meh, could've been more romantic but based on yuri's personality i guess it was okay like that. After yuri start to showcase more of her power saving her friends left and right and becoming sooo cool, i decide that she is one of my favourite character
Yuri was reborn as a street urchin and after a pickpocket attempt went south, she ended up sold to a research facility where they injected a stone with strange properties into her body. She gains various powers from this and also her emotions were severely dulled. (This last bit is brought out because it causes some hilarious situations later on).
After she eventually escapes, she discovers that she has been reborn into a reverse harem novel she read in her previous life. This is hammered home when Anne-Marie, the heroine of the novel, moves in next door. One of the events of the novel was when the injured villain love interest ended up at Anne-Marie's doorstep and she nurses him back to health. From this he gained and obsession for the woman. Yuri didn't have the best of feelings towards the Villain Lakis since he killed her favorite male lead in the novel.
The route of the story went awry however, when as the title suggests, he ends up in front of Yuri's house instead of Anne-Marie's.
There are a lot of twists and turns as we learn the secret behind the ruin fragments that caused her mutation as well as the dark plots brewing around her that the novel never mentioned. Of course, I couldn't help but find it hilarious when a situation that would have a normal person reacting very obviously pass by with hardly a twitch because of her dulled emotions. (ultimate poker face)
While I could have wished for more of her interactions with Lakis, it was still a fun read.
I would recommend this book to young adults and adults who enjoy Korean novels, novels in any of the genres above, or texts with female protagonists. One aspect that drew me into the text is the portrayal of the main character. Usually, characters that have been reincarnated require time to adjust once they are reminded of their past life and try to introduce their belief systems from the previous life into the current life. Yuri does not follow that character model and instead, reacts calmly to most situations and is the most well-adapted reincarnated character I have ever read. The text kept me engaged because I both enjoyed Yuri's calmness and was curious to see what situations would disrupt her calm.
Female Lead - 8/10 - Nicknamed Arachne due to a mutation brought upon by experiments. Male Lead - 9/20 - Yandere but is soft for the female lead. Other Male Leads - 7/10 - Some times get confused about who is who. Overall enjoyable characters. Magic System - 7/10 - Mutations that bring upon animal-like abilities or other special powers. Side Characters - 8/10 - Enjoyable to read about. All have their own individual personalities. Main Couple - 9/10 - Healthy relationship. Despite their difficult personalities they work together to create trust. This is because they are both strong individuals.
The ML didn’t suck!!! Yay! It’s a miracle! He treated her with respect! He respected her wishes! He listened to her! He apologized when he did something wrong! He didn’t force himself onto her in any way! Groundbreaking! (You may think that’s the bare minimum but these books seem to have difficulty with the bare minimum these days.)
I liked this one. I wish we got more with the side characters, some plot lines didn’t hit because we didn’t really know the characters, but overall the story was well done. Yuri was great, I loved her personality.
I was disappointed with the ending. All the time I believed Yuri was Bastian's lost daughter, but seems like that's not the case. I felt the ending was not enough. I wanted the big drama scene where everyone discovers Yuri has powers, and she explains about her childhood, lack of emotions, and about her friends. There was nothing like that.
Maybe it was because of her lack of emotion but I couldn't connect with Yuri. I liked Lakis so much more. It was also ridiculous how all male characters fell for her because she was so pretty. Give me a break.

This was surprisingly good. At some point felt bit forced but i loved how author didn't go in depth into romance (it had the hints but mostly left us hanging). And the translator did a great job on this too.
so much fun to read, loved the writing style and also the fl was way too cool. the ml was sweet. its a bit cliché but that was alright. overall only 4 stars because the story is a bit slow and it updates very slowly too so ill probably never finish it
this book had so much potential but it all ended in such a boring and anticlimactic way. There were way too many plot holes and most of the stuff wasn’t explained it was really disappointing.
amei MUITO!!!
It was so interesting from the begging and kept me interested till the end. Here we have a nice characters, through a bit overpowered but that’s unexpectedly good point here, plot with action, fluff and romance.
Also, what was more unexpected - comedy. For me it was very entertaining. I love the characters, especially Yuri and Lakis.
The ending and epilogue are also good. As expected. Author-nim, translator-nim, thank you! It will be my favorite novel now.
Strongly recommend, if you want to read nice and entertaining story, without much drama.
