Okay, so sad that there’s not more details for this book on Goodreads and so few reviews!
I’ve gotta say, in the age of instagram poetry I was very impressed. I picked this book up at my local goodwill and thought “I guess it’s an easy read, to help me meet my book goal for the year, so even if I hate it, I’ll read it.”
I was so pleasantly surprised!! While of course there were poems that I didn’t quite enjoy or feel inclined towards, but that’s nearly with every poetry book. I really enjoyed the majority of her writings. And she also illustrated the book herself and her illustrations were so witty!!
She also really used the titles of her poems to their advantage. Creating these almost “one-liners” with them. All in all one of the more clever and creative poetry books I’ve read. I even found myself chuckling at a few of the poems.
And can we please note that it’s appreciated ANY time someone can write poetry that’s not about heartbreak, or women being oppressed? The market is so saturated white these topics that it’s a breath of fresh air when she adds in the poems that are just different.
wouldn’t recommend. There are a few poems here that I liked but most of them feel ripped straight out of a teenagers diary. I don’t think this should’ve been published at all
