James S. Aaron is the author of nine novels and many short stories. His most recent series is the Sentience Wars: Solar War 1, written with M.D. Cooper in his Aeon 14 Universe.
He is a twelve year U.S. Army veteran, serving as a medic and later platoon leader and company commander. His novels draw heavily on his military experience, including the people, the deployments, the technology and the locales.
James lives in Oregon with his family, where he enjoys camping, hacking electronics, amateur carpentry and All Things Science Fiction. He's a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and volunteers with his local animal shelter.
Another great read in the continuing Solar War arc here. The first part nicely weaves the threads from the prior books together, to set the stage for the latter part of the book where it builds to an amazing climax. Lots of suspense, action and mystery in this novel, and we get to see a lot of time with many of our favourite characters, and get to see more interactions between them than before due to the nature of the story. Some quite interesting developments in some of the relationships too, but believably built up and provides a good showcase on how circumstances can really shift relationships. All round another great read.
It's been a bit of a wait but this series of events which basically sets the tone for every other conflict to follow and how the Solar System basically fractures is shown with great care and a lot of tense action moments as we see a lot of interactions that show great skill in storytelling and yet still leave us on that knife edge. Of course we know what happens but to still tell the story and keep it fresh is more than deserving of the 5 stars and its nice to see the return of familiar characters.
The writing in this episode is up a notch. deeper, more nuanced.
Start this series from the beginning. It’s way too complicated to follow if you start here. I enjoyed the higher level of simile, creating images with words. In spite of too much complex visual exposition I found this chapter of the epic story to be enjoyable and it conveyed emotion well. Complex descriptions are Aaron’s style and you get used to it.
A wonderful continuation of Lyssa & Cara. Both struggling in their way to end a war that could be the end of organic or non-organic sentient life. The governments in the Milky Way are divided which brings intrigue after intrigue. Who will win? If you haven’t read the start, go back and enjoy. I now have to wait for the next chapter in this epic. Can’t wait.
Lyssa lives. She and the Sykes kids take on Alexander, cameris etal in a battle to save SAIs from everyone. A ragtag crew takes on everyone and lives to see the results. As always a great story excellent characters. Psion is saved . Keep writing I will keep reading!
Maybe it's more like "Happily For Now" even though there are quite a few things that need fixing or figuring out, things could have definitely ended worse!
