She’d taken the blame, and now I was her only savior.

My entire life had been unpredictable. But in the chaos I’d found moments of solace.

I was sixteen when I dropped out of high school to take care of my baby brother. A couple of months later I became a soldier in the Beretta Mafia. And I’d finally found the one place that felt like home—a family.

No two days were the same when your boss ran a criminal organization, yet it still hadn’t prepared me for her...

Luna.

The girl with the soulful eyes.

The girl with lips that begged for my touch.

She hadn’t been part of my plan, but now it was impossible to get away from her.

My plate was full. I was on track to get us away from the mayhem at home. And I couldn’t let anything veer me off that.

If only it was that easy.

Luna had made a mistake. She’d tried to do the right thing. Only she had no idea the darkness she would face as she stepped into Lorenzo Beretta’s office as the enemy.

I was her only way out.

Her get out of jail free card.

But should I risk it all for her? Or let her face the consequences alone.

I was so excited to read Mateo's story. We first met him in Book 1 and I loved him then. Ms. Davies had me at the prologue. It gripped at my heart as we saw how 16 year old Mateo was basically let to care for his baby brother. He had no choice but to find a way to make money to take care of them. It broke my heart to see this teenager have to become a man so quickly. But it just made me love him even more

It is now about eight years later and Mateo is working for Lorenzo with the plans of saving his money to get his sister and brother out of the home they all currently live in. When he was younger he needed a job and Lorenzo gave him one. He comes home one day to find his siblings outside with this beautiful girl, one who she had trouble taking his eyes off of. She was the new girl in his apartment complex, and while he cannot get her out of his head, he knows that he has no choice but to do so. He has no time for a girlfriend and also not much to offer her.

Luna has had a horrible life and she owes that all to her parents. Moving to a new town, she hopes that this will finally be what they needed. But things begin to get familiar again and Luna finds herself in trouble. Until Mateo steps in and saves her. But it was that he saved her, it was how he saved her that completely shocked her, and if I am being honest it shocked Mateo even more. Now they must go along with the plan or they will both lose in a way that neither one of them can afford.

The chemistry between Luna and Mateo was undeniable. they had a connection, they both had been trough so much and smilier childhoods. They understood each other. But as much as Mateo wanted her, he had other priorities. He may have worked for the Mafia, but Mateo was a sweet and caring man who would do anything for his siblings. And seeing him with them and how he took care of them will melt your heart. Even a sexy, mafia captain can have a sweet side

Luna was sassy, determined and had a huge heart. My heat broke for her. She was so determined to make a better life but her parents just kept holding her back. I love how sweet she was with Mateo's siblings and just how well her and Mateo connected. Their connection both physically and emotionally was everything. I absolutely Loe this series and cannot wait for Christian's story. That should be a very interesting one!!!

Mateo Caputo just took the spot of my favorite mafia man in The Unseen Underground series.

I was captivated at the prologue because 16 year old Mateo seared my soul with the love and commitment he had to his younger sibling. He had a hard exterior formed from the childhood he had and the life he lived to be able to take care of his siblings, and I loved every side of him. The soft side that was reserved for his siblings, and the hard exterior that made him one of my new favorite mafia men.

Luna was sassy and determined, she was set on making sure she had a better life than what she grew up around. She also had an admirable inner strength, she could have so easily continued the cycle of substance abuse as that is what happens when kids grow up in that type of environment, and I know from experience, although not to the extent they dealt with, and I am also the same as Luna on her view of never touching those things is the only way to be certain you will never become an addict.

One moment was all it took for a flicker of the chemistry that starts between Mateo and Luna. A short time of not seeing one another does nothing to extinguish that flicker, and the curiosity they have for one another seems to make it that much more intense.

Mateo and Luna’s story was entrancing, once I started there was no chance of stopping until I absorbed every word. Mateo and Luna’s chemistry was intoxicating, the storyline was the perfect blend of intriguing, a bit of suspense, witty banter, feels, and steam.

I’m excited to see what happens next in this series.

I definitely enjoyed this way more than the first book, instantly connecting with the characters and plot. Yes there were still things that niggled at me at times, but the back story was so captivatingly tragic that you couldn't do anything but root for the two main characters. They truly are perfect for each other.
Look forward to seeing them grow more in future books now that they have finally broken the chains.
Those last few paragraphs also have me eagerly awaiting the next book.

The Queen of words does it again!!!! I know without doubt that I will always manage to fall into a story by Abigail Davies with no issues and fall in love with each and every word and this book did not disappoint me one bit.... I thought Lorenzo was my man but Mateo gives me all the feels... like full on swoon worthy GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
Mateo is one of Lorenzos right hand men that we met in book 1 but this starts off right in the thick of it showing you just what he went through growing up and how its changed his life.
When Luna unexpectedly appears into his life showing affection for the people who mean the most to him he just can't help but let his heart start to melt ever so slightly.
Luna hasn't had an easy journey going up but feels like all things will change when she starts college... this then leads us to a drama filled amazing story that leaves us flicking the pages quicker than I wanted to but couldn't stop!
Can't can't can't wait for Christians story!!!!
Another smash hit that I'd recommend to everyone.

Mateo is under Lorenzo Beretta, the main mafia man and we got a glimpse of the real Mateo in the previous book when he told Aida why he didn't finish school - and my 'lil heart hurt for him! Some people just don't deserve children!!

Luna is his missing piece, she has moved into the apartment block where his mum and siblings live. And they most definitely relate to each other.
When Luna is in serious trouble, Mateo stands up for her - stands up against Lorenzo! They soon realise that life will never be the same ....

I like this series, the storyline regarding Stan did stretch out a bit. All the extra security and they didn't twig?
But by that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Luna and Mateo have chemistry, his brother and sister are adorable. And I'm glad that Luna finds a friend in Aida.

A good read

Struggled with the storyline

Mateo and Luna are perfect for each other. I am enjoying the series, but felt like details of this story were omitted or left out. Things did not add up in the story, like with the parents. No one thought that the drug dealer wasn’t going to come back? The parents were addicts. Mateo, in charge of security, is what ? Just go on with life? It’s safe now. Yet they are working with Mr. Blue to tighten up security overall, switching phones, security cameras, etc. There is no way that it took that long to find “Stan” the regular drug dealer when Lorenzo is the biggest baddest Mafioso. The storyline was faulty and the reader had to suspend reality to get through it.

What a flipping ride.
First, I had no idea this was book 2, which is my own fault for some reason I thought this was book 1. I love Mateo and I am going on a reading bender of Abigail Davies!
Mateo is responsible for his much younger siblings and his addicted Mom. He sees a way out and takes it knowing the road it leads could be dangerous. To better his and his sibling's lives it's a risk he is willing to take. This is when Luna comes into the picture and rocks his world.
Luna is the product of addicted parents and the constant disappointment they bring to her life. The connection she finds with Cardo and Chiara is what leads to meeting Mateo. She comes to his rescue one night and he returns the favor by saving her life.

After reading Lorenzo I didn't think there would be any characters from this series that I would like better. However, after reading this book I am proved wrong.

Mateo and Luna's story is brilliant and had me gripped. Both of them from families that are less than perfect. Nope forget that. They are totally awful. But that is something that binds them together. Something that they have in common.

I loved the suspense in the story that has kind of followed on from the last book. I can't wait for book three as I need more of these men and especially Romeo.

I have claimed him ladies. #RomeoBelongsToYvonne

This series is fabulous!

Mateo and Luna delivered a story that punched me in the gut like Lorenzo and Aida’s did. The only difference? I got punched in a different spot. This series continues to show shades of darkness and grit, all while not repeating the same storyline or relationship development, and I’m loving every word of it. Mateo and Luna had common problems and when an uncommon solution became the ONLU solution, the sparks really began to fly. Thanks to this book, I can’t wait to see what happens with Sofia and Christian, because there’s bound to be mayhem in their story!

Mateo Caputo took me by surprise because I didn't expect for the book to be very enjoyable. I was intrigued with Mateo's story in the previous book so when I got the chance to read his book, I'm glad that it reaches my expectation and more. Let me just say that this book got me hooked from the beginning till the end. I seriously love it because it's really emotional and captivating at the same time. I love the chemistry between Mateo and Luna because their connection with one another is just 🔥🔥🔥 Overall, I think Abigail did a great job in delivering this story and I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Highly recommend!

Mateo and Luna both have a lot o emotional and mental baggage, both come from homes with addiction but somehow they both turned out ok, one went to college the other went to work for mafia boss. Both of their stories are emotion and they pull at your heart strings. We still get to see plenty of Lorenzo and Aida in this book as Aida goes to the same college as Luna. There is a lot happening as there is a new threat to the family as well as a lot of personal drama with both Mateo and Lunas families. I was hooked and I couldnt read quick enough and the ending.... Oh Christian and Sofia what is going to happen to you... I cant wait to read their story.

I Loved Every Second!

I didn't think anyone could top Lorenzo for me.. but Mateo is just so darn swoon worthy!

And Luna, I just loved her 🥰 through the life she's had and she's still managed to come out as a kind, caring, sweet young woman is amazing!

Mateo relates to Luna in a way only they can understand, and that scares him, but he soon stops being an idiot, fetches his head from his behind and realises what is standing right in front of him!

And I loved that we got to see more of Aida and Lorenzo 😍😍

I loved every second of their story and can't wait for Christian's book after that ending 👀

Good Book

I have enjoyed Matteo & Luna’s story and what they have gone through in their childhoods to when they met.
I just love Cardo & Chiara they are so cute and loved Cardo’s response on his birthday the minute he woke up ❤️
Again this is a typical Mafia book with kidnapping, torture and murder but alongside it is those mafia men and the women they love.
I loved seeing more of Lorenzo & Aida and how they are progressing with their relationship but Christian is in for a handful with that ending, he should have just been honest about it.

4.3

I love the characters in this book, and in Lorenzo's book. I'm realizing that I prefer quick to fall for at least one main character and these books are not that, which is why it is still 4 stars for me. It is complete preference. Mateo is such a teddy bear, even when I wanted to punch him for being a butt. Both main characters trauma really connects them on a level that many may not understand, but it adds a layer to their love that I believe makes it timeless. My one question is.... when does dad come back???

THE WAIT IS OVER!!! After reading Lorenzo Beretta and waiting patiently... I read this book in 5 hours. This book was amazing, the characters, the background info, the character growth- AMAZING.
This book is PERFECT, HOT, and angsty! With a dash of "I hate these parents and want them to get run over by a bus", this book has it all.

5 stars for this book, 5 PEPPERS for how hot this book is, and the final page.. THE BOMBSHELL.. waiting patiently for Christian's book!

After the first book, I was super excited for the second one. And now, after the second one, I can't wait for the third one. It feels like a never-ending circle.

I didn't think that it could get any better than book one but, I was wrong. Of course, there's certain events in Lorenzo and Aida's book that can't even be comparable to Mateo and Luna's but both are equally just as amazing. The ending is an absolute killer and I can't wait for Christian and (hopefully) Sophia's book!

I absolutely love this book. Mateo and Luna's story was well written. Both characters faced dark, depressing childhoods, yet took different paths for survival. This series is not for the faint of heart as it has several dark themes (abuse, violence). Abigail Davies once again has crafted a riveting story that is full of deeply developed characters you cannot help but obsess over. Great read!

Another fantastic book in The Unseen Underground series by Abigail Davies.

Mateo’s book is definitely different from Lorenzo’s. In book two, Mateo and Luna come from a different side of life. Their lives growing up bonds them in a way not many would comprehend.

I loved Mateo’s softer side - when he let himself be easygoing and light - with Luna and the kids. Cardio was absolutely adorable, as was Chiara.

Looking forward to what Christian’s story brings next.

Thrilling!

The suspense and intrigue surrounding the Beretta Mafia continues with Mateo Caputo: Unseen Underground #2. There’s plenty of mystery and lots of heat between Mateo and Luna as they face danger from an unknown enemy. It’s a thrilling and exciting Dark Mafia Romance that you won’t want to miss!

Mateo and Luna

I enjoyed reading this story. Mateo and Luna brought together in unusual circumstances, both damaged by addict parents. Mateo is very loyal and will do anything for his siblings as well as his Mafia family. Luna doesn’t have anyone looking out for her. These are both good characters, both likeable and characters you want good things for.

Oh this story was a heart tugger!! We get to know Mateo more and I just wanted to hold him close. But then we meet Luna and all I wanted to do was hold her lol. But then they get together and it's perfect chemistry!! I adored these two together and they're perfect for each other. The story has some definite surprises and still mystery left for the next book I'm dying to get to!

Another Amazing Story

I usually don't read series until they are completed, but I couldn't stop myself with this series. I loved the characters in this book, too. Also, enjoyed the interaction with the couple from the prior book. Now I have to wait for the next book.

mafia story at its best

I always love a good mafia romance and this has everything!

Love, violence and all the nitty gritty bits in between!

Mateo wants to save his brother and sister from the life he had to suffer, joining the mafia was not the plan but it worked out better than he could imagine!
Luna hated her life. Moving from place to place hoping one day her mum and dad would get clean and stay clean. Little did she know the place she ends up puts her in the path of been thrown in to mateos life.

Such a great story I loved it, especially when you have the side characters, and their stories going on, it makes you want to read the whole series!

The characters were great the story was over all good but there was a couple of points that made me roll my eyes.
Magically figuring out who Stan was?! That scene could have used some work.
