uṣūl al-fiqh, is the discipline dedicated to the derivation of islamic rulings from the Quran and sunnah. "Al waraqat" الورقات by imam al juwainy is a classical text on this subject and it was written for the very beginners in this discipline.

The author imam al juwainy was a Persian Sunni scholar famous for being the foremost leading jurisconsult, legal theorist and Islamic theologian of the 11th century. He was the teacher of al-Ghazali.

Insight into Islam Publication has translated the text into English and added a commentary for ease of understanding. Alhamdulillah I would like to give them 5/5 for their efforts. However there are some "lackings" such as:

1. The format in which they've put the commentary isn't very good for the eye, they should've used other methods

2.On page 34 in the commentary it's said that an individually transmitted report makes knowledge obligatory - however that's not the case

3.Some minor error on translation
