Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence for her shoe.
A woman realizes she was meant to decline a wedding invitation, but only after she’s arrived. Can she borrow some of a stranger’s charm to make it through an awkward night?
A power outage during a rehearsal dinner. A vanishing bride. A distraught groom. How’s an innkeeper to keep up? Especially when the bride reappears with a strange request: help her escape her own wedding.
It’s awfully easy to bring “something old” to your wedding when one of the brides happens to be Death’s 700 year-old Head Minion.
As if a museum wasn’t enough of a draw for a history nerd, throw in holograms, a secret wedding, and a mysteriously well-informed woman and things really get interesting.

3.75 Stars. This is a short collection, by Bella authors, with the theme of weddings. I just finished an actual work week from hell, so it was really nice to finally relax on the weekend and read this collection of feel-good stories. This collection was just what the doctor ordered and I enjoyed it. Of course with every collection there were hits and misses, but luckily there were only two stories that I didn’t care for so it was a good ratio. I’m not going to mention all of the stories in this review, but I do want to discuss a few that stood out.

One of the reasons I was excited about this collection is that it had a few of my favorite authors in it. Let’s be honest, many of us would read the dictionary if E.J. Noyes wrote it so I happily gobbled up her story. For fans of Reaping the Benefits, you won’t want to miss this short that was an adorable, steamy, and satisfying ending for that story.

Keeping in the vein of authors that are automatic reads for me, Jamie Clevenger had a very strong opening story that started the tone off right for the rest of the collection. And Tagan Shepard, who never disappoints, also had another good story.

Next, we have two shorts that really stuck out from the pack but for different reasons. M.B. Guel, who I have only read one book by them before, surprised me with a story I liked more than I expected to. They were the only one that actually put some angst into their short. And while I admit I rolled my eyes a little, the angst made the story different from the others and I could not help but like it.

The second short that really stuck out was Celeste Castro’s. I’m very familiar with Castro’s writing so I did guess where the story was going, but it didn’t matter. It was really fun and ended up being my second favorite of the whole bunch.

Last and definitely not least, was the short that for me was easily my favorite, In Trouble in Mind by Louise McBain. I loved this one. I was so invested into the story and the well written main and secondary characters that I could not help but be sad when it ended. Besides maybe Noyes’, because her story is with existing characters, McBain breathed the most life into the setting and characters of any story in the collection. I really hope this short is re-worked into a full length book because I almost feel like all that creativity is lost in just a short story. McBain, is a newer author for Bella with only two stories with them so far. Her last book was a good read and I really enjoyed her smooth writing style so I put her on my authors to watch list. Now, my interest is even more peaked and I really can’t wait to read more by her.

If you are a fan of feel good wedding stories, I think this collection would be a good choice. While not every short is a winner, the quality is high and some stories are very good. The nice thing about collections is that you get to read authors that you love but also hopefully find new authors too. With all the bad feels and work stress in my life lately, this was the perfect feel-good read that I needed.

An ARC was given to me for a review.

“Save the Date” is an appropriately timed anthology as here in states, we have moved into wedding season. “Save the Date” a series of 11 short stories where the theme is a wedding. In some the main characters are the ones getting married and in others, they’re just guests or part of the bridal party.

I find anthologies to sometimes be hard to rate as they’re mostly hit or miss. “Save the Date” followed that trend and while there were a couple misses, I found most of them to be hits. I’m not a huge fan of short stories but I wanted to read this as a couple of authors I’m interested in are part of the anthology so I got to get a feel for them as a writer.

I’m not going to give a review on each but I will mention a few that stood out to me. “The Wedding Party” by Kay Acker was especially moving and had me tearing up a bit. “Queen for a Day” by Celeste Castro was comical with a twist that while I saw it coming, still made me laugh in the end. M. B. Guel’s “Ground for Panic” was cute and probably my favorite of all. I was sad it was only a short story as I just wanted to read more.

This a good collection of short stories that I would recommend if you’re wanting an introduction to a new author’s writing or have a love of weddings.

This seems to be the month for anthologies since I seem to have several in my TBR pile including Save the Date, a collection of short stories written by Jaime Clevenger, Kay Acker, Louise McBain, Tagan Shepard, Celeste Castro, Dillon Watson, Cade Haddock Strong, Kate Gavin, M.B. Guel, Jessie Chandler, and E.J. Noyes. What all these stories have in common (besides being written by excellent authors) is they all have something to do with weddings. How appropriate for June, the month of weddings.

I enjoyed reading most of the stories, but I have to admit a couple of them really stood out for me. Jaime Clevenger’s “New at Love” about a shy maid of honor and the seamstress who saves the day for the bride just melted my heart. It is just one of those uplifting tales that makes you happy to have read it.

My favorite short story of the anthology is “Something (Really) Old” by E.J. Noyes. This short story is a mini sequel to her novel Reaping the Benefits. I had a blast seeing Jane and Morgan again, especially the day before (and the day of) their wedding. Things are never boring when one of the brides is Death’s Head Minion.

With eleven different tales by the same number of very talented authors, I’m sure everyone will find a story or two (or maybe eleven) they will fall in love with. I’m glad I had the chance to read all of these short stories. I’m giving this anthology a rating of 3.75 stars and moving it to four stars overall.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Bella Books for an honest review.

This is a compilation of short stories by Bella Books authors under the common theme of weddings.

In New to Love by Jaime Clevenger, a maid of honor finds love with a seamstress who saves the day when the bride had a dress emergency.

The Wedding Party by Kay Acker. An established couple who cannot get married without losing social security benefits, decide to have a series of non-wedding parties to celebrate their commitment to each other.

In Trouble in Mind by Louise McBain, Tate meets her fiancée’s family a few days before the wedding and the north/south, big city/small town differences are more than apparent. Especially when dealing with some family members…

Out with the Old by Tagan Shepard. A wedding guest who shouldn’t have accepted the invitation finds comfort, and the possibility of more, in the maid of honor.

Queen for a Day by Celeste Castro. When Monica wins a trip to London to visit the Historic Royal Places’ hologram exhibition about the Secret wedding between King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, she meets a gorgeous catering employee.

The Magic of the Coin by Dillon Watson. Aaliyah finds her soulmate in a random encounter with a stranger on the train, a few days before she’s supposed to get married to someone else.

Inn Trouble by Cade Haddock Strong. Casey is the hostess of a wedding party where the bride asks her something Casey cannot refuse: to help her run away from her own wedding.

Liberty by Kate Gavin, the maid of honor gets a huge surprise on her best friend’s wedding day.

Grounds for Panic by M.B. Guel. While searching for a coffee caterer for her best friend’s wedding party, the maid of honor finds a barista job she didn’t want and a possible love interest instead.

Send Out the Clowns by Jessie Chandler. A very peculiar wedding party and a big surprise.

Something (Really) Old by E. J. Noyes. Reaping the Benefits sequel featuring Morgan and Jane’s wedding in which Death herself brings something (really) old.

As with any compilation of short stories, readers normally get a mixed bag. I admit that my favourite part was the introduction by Tagan Shepard who summarised very well the struggles of the queer community to earn their right to marry. This anthology covers many different wedding ceremonies and parties but shows that it’s all about love.

My favourites were Trouble in Mind by Louise McBain, Liberty by Kate Gavin, Grounds for Panic by M.B. Guel and Something (Really) Old by E. J. Noyes.

The stories are very diverse and some are very original. Some are fun, others serious, others hot. If you like romance and weddings, there’s probably going to be one or more stories that you are going to enjoy. 4 stars.

June Brides have been around since Roman times so what a perfect time of year for Bella Books to publish a collection of wedding centric short stories featuring some of their best authors. Like all anthologies, I had my favourites and now have a new list of authors whose books I want to read. Others may have different top selections and that is the beauty of short story collections, there is something for everyone in Save the Date.

I loved Jaime Clevenger’s New to Love. It was a great way to kick off this collection and a story I would love to see expanded to a full length romance. Kay Acker’s The Wedding Party showed us the impact a marriage license can have on two beautiful souls living on medical disability allowance. Melody and Nikki made their story memorable and right up there as my favourite in the book. Other standouts for me were Tagan Shepard’s Out With the Old, Celeste Castro’s Queen for a Day and Dillon Watson’s The Magic of the Coin. There wasn’t a weak book in the bunch and that speaks volumes to the calibre of the authors who have made contributions to this publisher and to the editors of Save the Date.

Slip on your fascinator or your cowboy hat and settle in for a sweet and sexy summer read.

This was a charming anthology that makes a great "palate cleanser" between long novels. The timing was terrific, as others have pointed out. The collected short stories cover a variety of circumstances, characters and durations. A nice change in pace from a variety of authors.

This is a nice compilation of short stories with wedding themes. I hadn’t read anything by about half the authors, so it was also a nice intro to some authors I’ll check out further. My favourites though were New at Love by Clevenger and the epilogue to Reaping the Benefits by Noyes. I also liked Trouble in Mind by Louise McBain, it sort of read like an epilogue to a book, and I would enjoy seeing how these characters met and their relationship unfolded. I found Castro’s Queen for a Day a bit weird, but most of the others were enjoyable enough. 4 stars

I enjoy this read. Their are eleven authors and consider June seems to be the month of weddings these authors gave us short stories that deal with falling in love at wedding or having a wedding I love the historical wedding. Some stories were short while others were a bit longer. I don’t believe in marriage but I love that others do.

Nuptial Bliss
This anthology includes eleven stories by eleven wonderful authors. It is full of love and charm with weddings as the common theme. I adored all of these sweet, warm and beautiful tales. Some were other worldly, some mysterious, some based off of full length books and some just contemporary goodness, but all will make a true romantic smile. There is something for everyone in this special book and Im sure you will love it as much as I did!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bella Books for the eARC.
2.5 stars. I had pretty mediocre expectations for this anthology, and it met them. I liked the first story, so I was hoping to enjoy the rest, but it kind of went downhill from there. I can appreciate what it was trying to do, but the writing was definitely lacking for many of the stories, and they didn't come together very well. The fantasy/sci-fi stories, in particular, felt out of place compared to the others, even if they were low on magical elements. A lot of them could've been improved had they been longer, they focused too much on the plot without making me care about the characters, or they introduced too many characters in too short of an amount of time that I couldn't keep track of them. Also, this is a personal thing, but I'm not a big fan of romances with established relationships so that automatically put me off some of the stories. That being said, I did like a few of them ("New at Love" by Jaime Clevenger, "Liberty" by Kate Gavin, "Grounds for Panic" by M.B. Gruel, and maybe "Out with the Old" by Tagan Shepard), so I may check out those authors' other books.

A book featuring 12 authors. Most of these authors you have heard of so you have an idea what kind of story you like and the author who usually provides it. Some of the story’s here are ones that you can’t help but wish the tale would go on, while there are others you can’t help but wonder ‘why’ you’d bother picking up and reading.
Stand out reads for me were Dillon Watson’s ‘The Magic of the Coin’, M.B. Guel’s ‘Grounds for Panic’, and Cade Haddock Strong’s ‘Inn Trouble’. You will have to decide for yourself which story stands out. All in all a pretty good read.

Another Bella Books authors anthology title, this time around the theme is weddings. Truthfully by the mid-way point, I was sick and tired of anything having to do with weddings. Most of the stories also seemed to be one off/stand alone stories rather than tying back in to one of the authors' novels. Overall, I felt like these were just okay, and mostly unmemorable. There were one or two exceptions--a scifi-leaning story Queen for a Day comes to mind--but otherwise, a rather 'meh' offering.

This was a delightful way to begin catching up on all the books I haven't read in months - short stories all about weddings that really warms your heart these snowy winter days. I loved seeing our ladies from EJ Noyes - Reaping the Benefits and I enjoyed reading some stories from my favourites Tagan Shepard, Kate Gavin and, Jamie Clevenger. My surprise favourite was Celeste Castro, although I really shouldn't be surprised because I loved her other short story this year, so she'll be at the top of my list from now on!

June is traditional time for weddings and a month to celebrate Pride. What could be more timely than an anthology focusing on f/f love with weddings as a common denominator. Eleven different authors create short stories with romances. They include finding love while preparing for a wedding, at the ceremony, and even a story that includes an historical wedding. Most stories cover just a few days but a couple extend longer. There are too many storylines to try and summarize but several of them I would gladly read whole novels with the characters as the leads. I wasn't disappointed with any story although a couple were very short. I've read at least one book by three of the authors and more than one by E.J. Noyes. Now I have some new authors I can be on the lookout for future books. Thank you to NetGalley and Bella Books for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Anthologies are hard to score, but I genuinely loved almost every story. Some I really want more of. Some... not the best idea to condense a novel into a short story. Granted, I don't know if that's what happened, but it felt like it at least once.

Some new authors to me, which adds to my tbr list. Some of my favorites, Jaime Clevenger and EJ Noyes bookended it which was lovely. :-)

Save the Date was a delightful read, I seem to be really getting into short stories at the moment at this anthology was great. A series of stories written by 11 authors all focused around weddings, where the main characters are in some way part of the wedding. Often many romantic stories around weddings are heterosexual, this collection focuses mainly on lesbian love and with a dash of non-binary and bisexual love.
The stand outs for me where ‘The Wedding Party’ by Kay Acker and ‘Queen for a Day’ by Celeste Castro, I would gladly read an entire novel for each one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bella Books for an ARC.
