From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jayne Rylon comes a steamy new multi-partner standalone series set in the Powertools universe.
The Shields security team accepts missions in the grey area of both law and morality that no one else wants or can handle. They’re a ragtag bunch of special ops soldiers, ex-government agents, and hackers wrangled by a former construction worker who aspired to be a superhero’s sidekick when he grew up.
What could go wrong when they turn their sights on a human trafficking ring that might have been the reason their coordinator’s sister disappeared nearly thirty years ago?
Nolan Skalbeck is sure their assignment is a bad bet. Regardless of whether or not they find the hauntingly gorgeous woman their artist sketched or not, the horrific things he discovers about the operation they’ve infiltrated convinces him they have to shut it down for good by whatever means necessary.
What he doesn’t expect is to fall for a woman who already has a partner, and is willing to share him with Nolan. Once he has, it will take every bit of his strength and training to keep from losing them both.
Even if he’s successful, how will he convince them, himself included, that he’s not a horrible person—like the ones they’ve been surrounded by for most of their lives—even though he hunts and destroys evil bastards for a living?O

This begins with some heart pounding action as The Shields team sets about on a rescue mission. Things initially progress at warp speed as Laurel is reunited with her family. Things with her bestie and new roommate, though, are a little slower. Painfully slow in the eyes of Jace and Laurel. 😂😄
The job that brings them together, breaking up a human trafficking ring, lends some dark moments to the storyline but I appreciate that the details are kept fairly high level. I can do dark but that's not what I want or expect from a Jayne Rylon book.
What I do want is a steamy, core-liquifying book with just enough drama to keep me engaged and needy for the next page and she delivered. Oh boy, did she deliver! The throuple is fantastic together, each bringing different strengths to the table.
I love how they open the floodgates to their feelings of lust and how they are reverent when Laurel shows a willingness to open herself to the possibility of a deeper, physical relationship. It is incredibly sweet, as well as sizzling. 🍆🍆🍑🔥🔥💥🎉💚💚💚
The setup for the next book has me wanting it now! I'm not sure I can wait until this summer. 😭💔 I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.
It’s a well known fact that I adore the men and women of the Powertools, Hot Rods, and Hot Rides series, but wowza, it seems that I’ve Found another group of men and women to love. And The Shields are going to take over the top spot as my favorites in the Powertools family.
I devoured Nolan, Laurel, and Jace’s romance in one sitting. I loved their individual strengths and vulnerabilities. At their cores they were sweet, smart, loyal, courageous, and sexy AF.
And together there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish. Nothing—not even when their pasts come back to haunt them.
I’m fully on board with this new Powertools spin-off and cannot wait for more! ~ Missy, 5 stars
Jayne Rylon is the queen of multipartner romance. The Queen has previously bestowed upon her loyal subjects the Knights of Construction (Powertools), the Knights of Cars (Hot Rides) and the Knights of Motorcycles (Hot Rods). She is now giving us the dark Knights of the Shield, who do whatever it takes to protect the oppressed and innocent. In this book a triad is formed from the innocent who were damaged, and one of the men who saved them. Besides the steamy heat that will thrill you, you get action and suspense that will make your heart race. This book is a standalone, however it does connect to previous series, so it's best enjoyed after reading from the beginning. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Well I honestly loved it!
This was a re-read, but I don't see my original rating or review.
This is an intense mystery-thriller with crazy MMF interactions. Every person in the story is in a throuple. No other variations, which is disappointing after the MMMMF from the original Powertools evolved into a puppy pile of MMFFMFMF.
Good writing, except that every time that any character is mentioned, the other two in the throuple are also listed. I'll wait until I read the next one.
The Shields series is a great addition to the world of PowerTools, Hot Rods and Hot Rides.
Loved to meet James long lost sister Laurel & her friend of many years Jace. It was great to see Nolan be the catalyst to Laurel and Jace expressing their love for each other and for Nolan.
Can't wait for Marcus, Kennedy and their third's book!
This is the 1st installment in a new and very promising series !
Eventhough it's s new series, we'll still hear from the other universes (Powertools, Hot Rods and Hot Rides).
I really really loved this book! It made me feel, smile, swoon and laugh ! It has sooo many good things: instant sizzling chemistry, drama, heart breaking events, action and steamy sexy polyamorous scenes. Another Jayne Rylon great romance with unforgettable characters ( they are amazing separately, but exceptional together) and a page turner story that I couldn't put down from beggining to end. She's very good at describing characters and emotions.
I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next one !!
I received an ARC from the author and I'm reviewing it honestly
Book 1 in the Shield series and a great addition to the other universes that she has created. This book has everything that you expect from Ms. Rylon. Loved Jace, Laurel and Nolan. Separate they are good but together, they are explosive. Great beginning to a new series and I can’t wait to read more of this series.
There’s definitely some plot going on here, but it’s ultimately a kissing book. So much queer rep, we love when the full cast is bi and poly and also seemingly construction workers ? Fun! Flirty! I’ll prob read the next one if it’s also on kindle unlimited 🤷🏻♀️
This apparently is a spin off of another series. I wish I had known that before reading because I feel like I would have enjoyed it better if I had known the story of all the side characters who were in it.
Meh. It was fine. I was hoping for exciting adventures from the group but it was very surface level writing. I did enjoy Laurel and Jace’s backstory but the insta love with Nolan was just, again, meh. It got old quick.
Nolan hides behind jokes. Jace and Laurel hide behind friendship. When proximity and a third forcevtheir hand are Jace and Laurel ready to grasp a new future? Found is first in the look latest spinoff in Jayne Rylon's Powertools series. I enjoyed getting to know Nolan better. He was the jokester. He was thff e one who is inappropriate without trying. But he had a kind heart. And Jace and Laurel were just the ones to show us. I love that Nolan is the catalyst that all oh ws Jace and Laurel to see they can have more than friendship. I love the passion that exploded between Nolan, Jace and Laurel. I love that friendship and support that helped Jace, Laurel and Nolan reach for their greatest desire even if they are just realizing what it is. This story by Ms. Rylon is a well written enjoyable read and I can't wait to see where she will take us next.
I fell in love with this group of friends in the Powertools universe and continue to love them. This is the start of a new series that is shaping up to be just as powerful and emotional as all the rest. Jayne Rylon out does herself writing from all points of view and tackling an issue that is not very mainstream. I adored Nolan and his snarky sense of humor. Jace is a bad boy but a sweetheart. And Laurel is just plain awesome. She knows what she wants but doesn’t want to rock the boat to get it. I love how Nolan brought Laurel and Jace even closer than they were to bring them to the ultimate level. So good!! Can’t wait for the rest of this series that’s shaping up to be suspenseful as well as hot as hades.
A new series featuring some familiar characters from Middleton with a twist. Now part of a strike force team of mercenaries, adventurers, thrill seekers, James' has wanted nothing more than to find his sister. Missing since he was a small child, her warmth, kindness and caring is all he remembers. Laurel's past has been irrevocably intertwined with Jace. Thrown into the same, devastating life of abuse, their escape is miraculous. But shame has kept them from seeking family. Until Nolan catches a glimpse of her and then all ties are cut. Will Laurel's brother accept what has happened to her? Will Jace make a bold move and claim the ones he wants? Will Nolan's most fervent desire be met?
I was intrigued with this book at the start but I just got bored 40% though and was going to DNF but just pushed through. I kinda felt sorry for Nolan, felt like he was third wheeling most of the time and it was all about Jace and Laurel.

I wish there was a way for me to get the time I spent reading this back. Literally had a name dump of every character within this entire series thrown at us in the first 3 pages as if any of it meant jack to me. Then the fact that we are dealing with sex traffic victims but trauma is never actually made into a big deal. I also didn't realize before going into this book that every single character had a thing for another MC but they were all poly and they were all friends and siblings were talking about each others 'sleeping arrangements' together and in front of everyone else.
It was just a lot and obnoxiously so. I think I got this on Stuff Your Kindle day so at least I can say I didn't waste my money on this.
Found was a great start to the new series! I almost forgot how much I missed the authours romantic suspense books, but this brought it all back, and in such a sexy fashion. Laurel and Jace have lived a harsh and brutal life and that shows in their feelings, their actions, and their commitment to each other. Nolan is living a good life, doing good things, and while they are dangerous things, they are to bring an end to the suffering of others. Immediate attractions, new lives, new ways of thinking about and doing things, and bad guys getting their just deserts in spectacular way, what wasn’t there to love <3
My first book by Jayne Rylon. Even though it’s the first in a series, it's a spin off series, so there are lots of characters we are “supposed to know”. Hugh cast of characters, so in some ways it feels like way too many people thrown at you at once.
Not only that, there are a suspicious number of mmf menages. Like Jace says, it looks like there must be something in the water. Don’t get me wrong, I love bisexual boys and having two to play with, all the better. But an enclave of mmf menages seems a bit out there.
As for the threesome who is the main focus of this book…
Laurel and Jace were sex trafficked as children. Prostituted out, then forced to work in a strip joint giving almost every dollar they owned to Draven, the man who owned them. Eventually they scrapped enough money up to buy their freedom. Working long hours in a restaurant, staying under the radar.
Laurel and Jace are completely in love, a soul deep bond, but they’ve never had a physical relationship since escaping Draven’s clutches. Jace hooks up with guys when the need gets bad enough and Laurel is chaste.
Laurel’s brother James is part of an organization systematically taking down the sex traffickers network. James is the behind the scenes guy. One of his “hands on” colleagues, Nolan, finds a clue to Laurel’s location following their most recent raid.
When Nolan finds Laurel entering the strip club where she used to work, he abducts her, dragging into the woods. Only Jace was running to catch up to Laurel, sees Nolan taking her, and leaps into action. Jace knocks Nolan unconscious and they take the operative back to their hovel of an apartment to question him.
Once conscious, Nolan could have easily overpowered the couple, but he feels immensely protective of them from the start. So Nolan does his best to not spook them as he explains he knows Laurel’s baby brother and he’s willing to take them to see James.
Nolan is their self-appointed bodyguard and roommate as the team works to take down Draven. Lust and heated looks all around.
Eventually it’s Jace who breaks, claiming a kiss from Nolan. Laurel sees, isn’t turned off, but is willing to let the men be together. Other threesomes offer advice. Maybe all three of you should go at it. “Oh, hey, works for me” all around.
Nolan bridges the gap between Jace and Laurel, letting their deep and abiding friendship turn intimate. But will the couple leave when Draven is taken down or do the three of them stand a chance at forever. (Hint: was it ever in doubt?)
Adore Jace and Laurel. Fond of Nolan, as well, but the enclave of throuples is beyond odd.
I tend to prefer series focused on one couple — Patricia Briggs Mercy & Adam or J.D. Robb’s Eve & Roarke — or a central character with multiple love interests like Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita or Kim Harrison’s Rachel. Interlinking couples (or more) often feels more contrived. Though when it works, it works.
Found by Jayne Rylon is the first book in her new Powertools: The Shields series, and ever since we first heard about them and met them, it blew my mind and I was eagerly awaiting their arrival! And, it's here, and, it's amazing!
From the start, I couldn't help but love Nolan. So confident and capable, yet so full of self doubt, a strong man, yet emotionally vulnerable. Full of dichotomies, in the most amazing and thought provoking pairs.
Oh sweet Laurel, so resilient, so loving, so caring. Yearning for a better life but terrified to reach for it, not sure if she can face more disappointment. I just wanted to give her the biggest hug.
And Jace? So many layers! Protective, fierce, yet nervous and unsure whether what he truly wants is possible, afraid to unsettle the status quo but hungry for more. I wanted to draw him into the group hug with Laurel, and Nolan can join too.
The tension is palpable, sizzling and hot, and unrequited until all of a sudden BAM it's super required, and I LOVED every single moment of it!
This is a totally worthwhile emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey you'll be taken on, with chemistry, honesty, trust, love, relationships, and the importance of communication balanced out perfectly, and of course a deliciously heady dose of SHMEKSHAY times to boot!
You'll be hooked, just like me, I guarantee it!
P. S. I adore Dottie!
P. P. S. James. Love him.
P. P. P. S. Cannot wait for the next book! The vibes Marcus and Kennedy are throwing out have me INTRIGUED!!!
I knew coming from Jayne Rylon this book was going to be fantastic. Book one of the new series called The Shields. Done in the world of the Power Tools crew and their extended friends and family. What is shields? It is an under the table, not completely legal, fully government funded way to deal with the very bad people. A way to get rid of the scum when no one else can touch them. This book introduces us to Nolan, he does his job, and he does it well. Right now his job is trying to find James‘s sister. She disappeared so many years ago that it seems impossible. Laurel has lived the worst life she could imagine, and used every way a woman can be used. The fact that she survived with the help of her friend Jace is a miracle. Laurel and Jace helped each other and stuck together until they found a way to buy their freedom. This is when Nolan comes in the picture and is more than infatuated with both of them. It appears his job to find them has brought him more than he could imagine. Laurel and Jace are being guarded by Nolan. The need to bring down the ring of horrible humans that dealt and human trafficking, and basically slavery selling the bodies of both men and women to paying customers. The story centers on the developing relationship between Nolan, Jace, and Laurel. Finding a way to make it work, while trying to bring down the worst human being. Excellent book, the characters are so in depth you feel what they feel. The steam in this book is really I’m gonna set you on fire, but at the end of the day it’s about the relationship, friends, family, and doing what’s right.
Jace and Laurel have lived through hell for years. Together they have developed a friendship. A trust in one another that they can’t get from anyone else, someone to feel safe with and to love. Being at each other‘s back and keeping one another safe has been their goal.
Nolan is the type of man who will crack a joke to avoid talking about his feelings. He is a man of action and is willing to do what it takes to write it wrong. As one of the shields he has seen things that people never want to see and finds a way to make it right.
Found is intense in so many ways. From the opening pages Jayne Rylon has the readers heart pounding. From an intense rescue, to finding lost family, to learning to love yourself and others. Emotions are all over the place. A sense of danger is still lingering and can a friendship turn into something much much more. Nolan, Jace and Laurel have incredible chemistry together but yet acting on it seems to be where they are falling short. Nolan becomes the catalyst to see if something amazing can come for the three of them. I love how Ms. Rylon has blended her series together and made one ginormous family that is willing to accept and love whether you are blood or not. Nolan may have stolen my heart with his wonderful actions and the story. Showing Jace and Laurel that after the bad can come good.
I absolutely loved the first book in Jayne Rylon’s new Powertools: The Shield series – Found! This book was just EVERYTHING! It pulled emotion after emotion out of me...there was NO WAY I was putting this one down for one second. Found continues on from James’s story in Pound, focussing on The Shields security team looking for James’s sister, Laurel, who has been missing since childhood in nefarious circumstances. Nolan Skalbeck is integral in helping to find Laurel who was now existing in dire conditions with her inseparable best friend, Jace. The raw and bare emotions throughout this book is heart wrenching but if ever a triad was destined to be, it is Laurel, Jace and Nolan. One of the things I love about the Powertools series is how all of the stories connect. So, even though you are able to read them independently, loyal readers get to enjoy the full benefit of the backstories that are carried throughout the series. I'm never disappointed with this series or with this author. Her love stories always picks me up when I'm feeling down and reading them always acts as a great escape for me. Jayne's writing is a thing of beauty and her stories are always must-reads for me. If you are a newbie to Jayne Rylon, I trust that you will fall instantly in love with this author's style. Hard core fans of this series and this author be prepared to fall in love all over again.
Nolan Skalbeck is one of the elite Shield Agents. After seeing so many of his friends happily in love in their ménage marriages and polyamours relationships he's starting to want something for himself.
Laurel and Jace survived a human trafficker who sold their bodies and used them until they were no longer useful to him. They've been living together, rebuilding their lives and secretly loving each other for years but afraid to cross the bridge from friendship to lovers.
When they uncover the trail to one of their team members missing sister, Nolan is on board to get her back and take down the trafficking ring that kidnapped her. After finding her it's clear she's already in love with Jace but do they have room in their hearts to love him too?
I love books where the characters rise from tragedy and Nolan was the perfect bridge for Jace and Laurel to take those last steps to heal and live the life stolen from them.
Perfect balance of action, suspense, love, and steamy ménage romance. Extra bonus cameos from other Powertools characters.
This was a standalone, but was clearly a spin-off from another series (which I have not read) as a lot of names were thrown around as if I might know their backstory (although its not needed to read this book).
Nolan is part of the Shields group, he's ex-military and gets sent out on missions. One such mission is to find James's sister (Laurel) who disappeared two decades ago into a human trafficking ring.
My favourite part of the book is when Nolan finds Laurel and her best friend (Jace), it was the funniest part of the book! He will not be living that down for a long time.
I felt the way the author dealt with past sexual abuse was done with a lot of thought and care. Laurel and Jace's relationship was so unique and heartwarming because of it.
There are a lot of poly relationships within the wider friend group and that made it easier for Nolan, Laurel & Jace's to start their own. Poor Nolan feels a little left out.... but not for long.
This story is slow to start on the steam (quite rightly) but soon hots up between the three of them. There is an investigation to follow but the book is predominantly about the relationship.
Found is the first in a new series by Jayne Rylon Powertools: The Shields.
Thirty years ago James’ big sister disappeared. One day she was there, protecting him, taking care of him and the next day she was gone. For thirty years he has been hoping that he would be able to find out what happened to her. Now he is the office coordinator for the Shields and their last case investigating human trafficking may have something to do with James’ sister’s disappearance. It’s the right thing to do and just maybe they can catch a lead to find Laurel or what happened to her.
Nolan Skalbeck takes the assignment to look into the illegal operation. The drawing of Laurel is a haunting and when he sees someone that resembles the drawing he’s not letting anything stop him.
Jace and Laurel worked had, did everything told of them and saved what money they could just to buy their way out of the clutches of a human trafficker. Now they are scrimping and saving every dime to try to find a better life. Now a news story has the power to pull them back into the abyss.
Nolan is the kind of man who does his talking with his body - usually his fists. He's no smooth talker. As one of The Shields, he helps fight the monsters when the law can't intervene, and he fits right in. Jace and Laurel are a rare pair - they were stolen into sex work as teens, and have managed to claw their way free after a decade of sexual slavery. They love each other, but their past and PSTD have turned love into a mine-field that they won't enter. When Jace and Laurel are "rescued" again by the Shields, Nolan is made their bodyguard, and an unrequited love triangle is born. Jane Rylon writes powerfully and sympathetically of the journey this trio travels - from wounded, alone, and fearful to loved, accepted, and united. HEA means finding everything they never thought they could have, and I walked every angsty, sexy, raw emotional step with them. Theirs is a polyamorous union, with a heart of gold and a healing touch. Just beautiful! And this is a voluntary ARC review.
I'm a recently new fan of Jayne Rylon's books. This entire group of semi linked series are dramatically suspence filled and I can't get enough!
Nolan and his band of misfits at Shields Security Services go into battle against society's worst of the worst, often removing the kind of evil no one else is able to. So when Nolan gets a tip during an especially difficult raid on the location of the missing sister of one of his crew, Nolan sets out to do what he does best. He's determined to bring James's sister home. He just didn't expect to bring back her best friend as well. And he certainly didn't expect to have instant feelings for them both.
Best friends Laurel and Jace have kept each other going through the darkest of nights against the kind of evil most people only see in their nightmares. Now they finally have a chance at a new life and maybe, with the help of the man that saved them, the two will finally admit their feelings for each other, and maybe even Nolan as well.
Jace, Laurel & Nolan's story begins with the breakthrough on a sex trade operation. As their relationship grows, so does the need to face their past &be bold enough to embrace a future they thought impossible together. The heavy topics were handled sensitively by the author and didn't overwhelm the story. The amount of references and cameos of previous characters from other series, which assumed you also understood the back stories like an in joke at parties, was irritating as a new to me author. Fav Quote:"He was glad Jace and Laurel hugged him to keep him next to them in bed when he felt like he could float away at any moment. Could this really be true? Could he have what he’d been too afraid to dream of?" Star ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I can't stop daydreaming and telling everyone about this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A great read with all the feels. I would read again. ⭐⭐⭐ - I liked the book but wouldn't it read again. ⭐⭐ - Usually in the DNF pile or I suffered until the end for whatever reason. ⭐- Just no
