Will Jorah have a chance to fall in love with the person his soul is longing for, or will the horrors of the world keep them apart?
When I was fourteen, I was sucked through a portal to another realm—the land of the fae—and forced to live there for three years. Crazy, right? Welcome to my world. Being an Ellwood means being pulled into the craziest and most dangerous situations while trying to protect the people around you. But I wouldn’t change it for anything.
For years, every time I visit the land of the fae, something seems to pull me toward the north. Naturally, it’s the most dangerous place in all of Faela, so my family forbids me to travel there. But now I know something is wrong, and I find myself unable to ignore the call I feel deep down in my soul. The peaceful feeling I normally get from the north is gone, replaced with nothing but fear and sorrow.
I know in my heart that the pull I’m feeling is from my viramore—my soulmate—and I’m afraid I might be too late to save him. If I do make it there in time, what kind of condition will I find him in? I can feel that he’s hurt, grieving, and simply waiting to fade away, and I’m too far to help. He’s in danger, I know he is, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep him safe from the evil creatures hunting him.
Jorahis a 107K word novel and the fourth book in The Brinnswick Chronicles. It can be read as a standalone novel, although it’s better to read the series in order to get a better feel for the characters and the larger story arc. This MM paranormal romance contains explicit material and is intended for mature adults 18 years old and older.
Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.
She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

This one was one of my favorite of the brinnswick books as of yet! It was both sad and joyful, in what Laikin had to go through, but then getting his journey toward happiness with Jorah by his side. We have one book left in the series, and I admit I'll miss it when it's done, but I'm also excited to hear Talon's story
This book was back to that feeling of needing to hide behind a cushion that we got with Seb and Ailin's story in the beginning!
I cried for Laiken, I cried for Jorah.... This book made me so tense! I definitely wanted to put it in the freezer at times because it was just too much 😂
The way Ailin, Seb and the whole Ellwood coven take in Laiken and show him their support and love was amazing to read. He went through so much and his HEA was so well deserved. I also really liked Laiken and Toby's friendship - Toby is such a sweetheart!
I'm glad we finally know who's behind the plot against the Three and I'm anxious but also excited to read Talon's book for the conclusion. I will be sad to be leaving the Brinnswick area though, but I am looking forward to reading the other spin-off series. I just don't want to leave this storyworld!
Such a heartwrenching emotionally driven story which is darker than the previous books in this series and yet I loved it. I've not known many authors that can create stories where they can eviserate your heart with sadness and then somehow patch you up throughout the book to your heart being so happy and full of the love story you've just read so I take my hat off to you😀🎩. The story took me down the proverbial rabbit hole and I enjoyed every moment, it flowed effortlessly and I loved how the characters teamed up nicely like two nicely slotted jigsaw puzzle pieces. It wasn't all sadness, we had some light hearted moments and sweetness and I can't wait for the next. I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.
What a strong return to form after the last couple disappointing books wow.
This was everything Jorah needed and it was so incredibly emotional I cried a few times. This story got the grit back from the original series and as awful as it was to have Jorah and Laiken go through what they did, it made for a much better balance of romance and action.
The beginning of the book was impeccable, with Jorah’s absolute desperation and determination to find Laiken no matter what, and it stayed great from there. I really loved this one and it is easily my favourite of the spin offs.
If you have followed along with ellwood bunch through all the books and trial and tribulations they all dealt with I hate to tell ya but this book with break just a little I’m not gonna lie I cried a few times basil and Ailen have always been my favorites but Jorah since book one has captivated me this book isn’t as detailed as the one when seb got caught by the orcs but it makes your heart bleed just the same ! I’m so excited for talon book but also bittersweet about knowing that it’s the last book in the life of the amazing family we’ve all come to know and love If you haven’t read any of the series don’t read this one yet it should definitely not be read as a stand alone to many characters and you would get lost ! But 5 stars and a standing ovation to make notaro for creating such a world and characters that you can’t help but become attached to If you love magic , and fantasy , stubborn men , and found family this series is for you
The pet names came too fast. Why didn’t they leave The fae lands sooner? Why bring the family over when they should have popped a portal and gone straight home with laiken the moment they had saved him. If the queen is so powerful, why didn’t she pop up on the beach with an army? Why wasn’t she more involved when the Drow come onto her lands? I know why things lined up ..: but the whole drama could have been avoided by simply leaving as soon as they had the siren. This book just felt overly hurried and the characters were ... flat. Very flat compared to the other books.
This one is a bit darker than some of the others. Jorah is haunted by visions of his viramore being tortured well before the event happens. But for some reason, despite trusting each others instincts every other time, his brothers and Guardians won't allow him to north Faela until it's nearly too late. This was YEARS of visions so I'm at a bit of a loss as to why not sooner. Anywho there's a TW for torture (yes, its on page). And the angst is sky high multiple times in the book. But despite all that (and I'm really not a torture girl, not my thang), this was a very good read. Fast paced, edge of your seat kinda plot which luckily overshadowed alot of the torture/angst element.
I still have to catch my breath .... a story full of action and adventure meeting characters from other books. I liked the story but I DETESTED the morbidity with which the author wanted to describe certain scenes and parts, especially at the beginning of the book. I didn't understand all that gratuitous cruelty frankly....why all the gruesome details when the story could have progressed also omitting them????
A wonderful return to the fantastical world of the Ellwood Chronicles and the Brunswick Chronicles. It continues the theme of lovable characters with an emotional and highly enjoyable storyline that I had a hard time putting down. All in all a fantastic addition to the series.
Wow! What a heartbreaking emotional rollercoaster full of so many ups and downs. It had dark moments, devastating moments, then there were sweet and loving moments as well. This is definitely a story you need some tissues for!
Excellent addition to the Brinnswick Chronicles. Difficult to read in parts as one cannot help but draw parallels to the hunting of our planet's marine life and the ultimate extinction of a species.
Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews. A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
I am a huge fan of this series and have listened to multiple audiobooks in this "universe." I haven't had a chance to read the three books that aren't on audio yet, but since Jorah was one of my favorite characters, I jumped at the chance to review this ebook. In my opinion, is is probably best to read The Ellwood Chronicles and The Brinnswick Chronicles in order, but I was able to read this having missed a few books. However, now I definitely know I need to check those books out.
This book and series are full of action and drama and magic. At the beginning of this book, it has been ten years since Jorah, the bravest and smartest fourteen-year-old witch, disappeared into a portal to the fae world with his brothers Thayer and Basil and their two guardians, and it’s been seven, since the boys returned. Basil and Thayer have already met their viramores (soulmates) and now it’s time for Jorah to do the same.
Jorah is still brainy and brave, and now he holds the power of three with his brothers, a pure and strong magic that takes three people to balance it out otherwise it might be used for bad. While visiting the Fae world to keep the power in check, Jorah is hit with intense fear and pain that pulls him and his coven members to a darker part of the kingdom. And he knows the reason he feels all the feels so strongly is because it is his viramore.
Laiken is a siren, and unfortunately the last of his kind. The drow, a group of dark fairies, have hunted Laiken’s species to extinction and are using him to find a long-lost treasure before they eliminate him as well. Until Jorah and some of his coven members show up and rescue him in a daring fight. One they don’t quite win. The drow are a formidable group to fight, with large numbers and the ability to travel in a mist. After his rescue, it takes a long time for Laiken to trust Jorah and his family even though he feels the pull toward Jorah and knows they belong together.
While I love Jorah from the previous books, I immediately wanted to comfort Laiken who is dealing with guilt and sorrow. I am just glad the two found each other, because they seem to complement each other so well. But it was no easy feat to be sure as I thought they both might not live past the middle of the book. I was so worried, despite it being a romance that I was sure would have a happy ending, that I was brought to tears.
So, after that scare, the drow find another way to attack the Ellwood pack that Jorah belongs to. It was a crazy, action packed novel that had me on the edge of my seat. I know that I missed a few books, but I felt like the drow were the hardest enemies that this group has come across yet. And though, the drow pirate captain that held Laiken meets his end in this book, there is more to come with the enemy species because their king is still trying to take over Faela and the power of three. Talon, one of the two guardians of the three is going to be at the heart of the next book. And I anticipate it being just as action filled and dangerous to my heart.
Oh my goodness, I feel like I have shared so much, but hopefully not too much. I still feel like I need to mention Jorah’s awesome family. Witches, an enchanter, vampires, a half-wolf-half-cyclops, and fae, to name a few, make up this loyal and powerful family. Not to mention the bonded magical animals that protect the family. The way they always work together and don’t hold back with their affection makes them all so loveable and they round the book and the series out. I can’t recommend it enough.
I've been not-so-patiently waiting for Jorah's book to come out for months, and I'm happy to report that his story was even better than I'd anticipated!
That heart-wrenching prologue might have made me sick to my stomach with pain and grief, but it also left me desperate to know how Jorah and his viramore would find each other at last. Their journey wasn't easy--in fact I think this was one of the most emotionally devastating stories in this series so far--but the Ellwood family reminded me time and time again of why I should never lose hope. From the moment Jorah wrapped his arms around Laiken, I knew he was going to do everything in his power to keep him safe. Though Laiken had to work through significant trauma just to trust that he was safe with Jorah and his family, seeing how kindly he was treated filled my heart with a soft, happy feeling that only grew as Laiken started to come out of his shell. The hurt/comfort themes were strong throughout this romance, but not overwhelming to the point where I felt hopeless about the future of Jorah and Laiken. I actually loved seeing a slower start to Jorah and Laiken's romance because it made me feel like they'd bonded emotionally before ever getting their bodies involved.
For as soft and sweet as Jorah and Laiken's romance was, the overall storyline was still packed with plenty of heart-pounding, unexpected moments. More than once I felt my heart race with fear that Laiken or one of the Ellwood coven had gotten themselves into a situation they couldn't get out of alive. Michele really knows how to write a compelling action plotline, and she proved it with every unexpectedly dangerous encounter this family had with the drow. Despite how chaotic and frightening certain moments in this book were, it was also really exciting to see the family come together to protect Jorah and Laiken. That's not to say that either man was helpless to defend themselves--watching Jorah and Laiken utilize their unique powers had me in awe of their strength--but it was amazing to see how united the Ellwoods were around anyone who posed a threat. At the end of the day, Jorah and Laiken showed me that with true love and support from an amazing family, there's no obstacle that can't be overcome.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
Well, damn. Just when you think that Michele's writing couldn't hit you with any more emotion or heart stopping action scenes, along comes another story with lows, highs, loss, love and an overwhelming sense of family. This book does come with some trigger warnings so please make sure to read those first. We start in a dark place with Laiken experiencing overwhelming pain and loss which is unknowingly also being shared with Jorah as he dreams of an unknown man but then determines that he has to find him, now, before it's too late. The journey that they go on together is intense as Laiken needs to recover physically, mentally and emotionally. Luckily for him, Jorah is there as his protector and biggest supporter as well as being the one he's destined to be with. I love the connection that is forged from the moment that they share moments in dream and it goes from strength to strength, building as Laiken's recovery does. Jorah has become a strong, caring and powerful man in his own right as a witch and part of the Power of the Three. He's watched his brothers find their viramore and now it's his turn but of course there is trouble brewing and foes to overcome, one's who captured and hurt Laiken with plans for far worse after that. No one from the Ellwood coven will allow anything bad to happen to anyone in their family, which now includes Laiken and so another fight ensues. So much drama, action and evil figures that are balanced out with love, family and joy. Everything that comes together to make The Brinnswick Chronicles, and the Ellwood Chronicles before them, as fantastic as they are, gripping and enjoyable from start to finish..... even if a tear or two are shed along the way. I cannot recommend it enough and though it's possible to read as a standalone, I'd definitely say it's far better when the series is read in order, preferably Ellwood first and then Brinnswick. I'm excited to read Talon's story next but so sad that it is the last in the series! Side note - another stunning cover! I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Let me catch my breath after reading this and find the words to describe the depth of my love for this book. It’s an emotional punch to the stomach but I want to read it again. It’s hauntingly beautiful and full of hope, unconditional love, and an amazing family that has your back above all. The worlds and characters that Michele Notaro has expertly and cleverly weaved are beyond words. They’re so real you feel like you’re in the thick of the nonstop, intense action, are about to sit down and eat a rowdy dinner with the Ellwoods, or get a much needed calming Sebastian hug.
Jorah and his viramore are heartbreaking. These two shattered my emotions and I sobbed while reading this book but they’re also adorable, wondrous, incredible and inspiring. With each word they shared, with each sigh and touch, with every smile, they pieced me back together and made me whole. “He was warmth and sun and sea and love. And mine. He was mine, I could feel his soul taking root inside mine, and I knew nothing would be the same again.” I won’t ever be the same after reading this book but I know I’m better for it. There’s so much heart and love with these two and this family that I soaked it in from the pages. If books were food, I’d never go hungry again as this is a feast for the soul. Of course it wouldn’t stop me from asking for seconds, thirds and fourths and with the ending, I’ll need to squeeze in room for dessert as I now have an undeniable craving for Talon. So don’t hesitate, immerse yourself in this phenomenal world and fall in love.
I almost never read the Brinnswick Chronicles, because Notaro's The Enchanter's Heart depicted the war in Brinnswick in a heartbreakingly so very real way. Hopeless, despairing, the Ellwoods and their allies, losing. Thayer, book one in the Brinnswick Chronicles brought an end to the grieving of the Ellwood family. And brought back the fun and the snark that was missing in the last Ellwood Tale. Does Notaro continue to put her characters in mortal peril? Of course. And after she killed and resurrected Ailin and then tortured and nearly killed Seb, I guess I should have been more prepared. But the scenes of Jorah in mortal peril had me sobbing. The love and sacrifice of his family and mate... As with all these books, family is a key component. And acceptance. And the unwavering love the Ellwoods have for each other. Jorah wasn't an easy book. But it was a compelling, absorbing read. The fight scenes were inventive and intense. The interludes where Jorah and Laiken get to explore their love; sweet. An excellent book, a great series. I'm looking forward to/dreading what she'll do to him for Talon's book. I received an ARC of this book and this is my agreed upon reveiw.
Michele Notaro knocks it out of the park with Jorah, book four in The Brinswick Chronicles. The book begins approximately 10 years from the point when Jorah, Thayer, and Basil took on the Three magic. Jorah is all grown up and having visions of his viramore. Jorah has always felt a pull to the north in Faela and now we find out why. From the very beginning, readers embark on a story of perseverance. Seriously, the prologue alone brought tears to my eyes. I love that this story has glimpses into the lives of Jorah’s family members that we have come to know and love from previous books. Revisiting the Ellwood Coven is one of my favorite things to do and they prove how important it is to have family fighting by your side. This is one of those books that will tear you apart and then put you back together in the very best way (more than once!!!). Jorah and his viramore are so very deserving of finding love and each other. We see a lot more of Talon in this book too. Now, I am not so patiently waiting for Talon’s story even if it means the end of the Brinswick Chronicles.
Knowing Michelle Notaro struggled to get this book to be completed, I'm truly proud of her and happy she managed to write an amazing 4th installment of the Brimswood Chronicle that follows the Ellwood Chronicle.
JOral going on a voyage to rescue his soulmate with the help of the Three among their significant other to fight off the evildoers. So much emotion, so many near death, y'all need a box of tissue and maybe some cuddly time with your significant other if you wanna get through this book. But I'll tell you this, it's worth the wait to get this installment. Lacin being a siren, and the LAST Siren to boost puts a bit of twist in it with the whole Last Enchantor. But hey, plots are always known to twist up on the path of discovery, right?
Keep up the good work, Michelle! You are loved by many and we all hope you come up with an epic finale of this serie. Can't wait for it <3
I have no words I am so blown away by this book. I love the world that Michele Notaro has created from the very first book in the Ellwood Chronicles this has become one of my favorite places to visit. In Jorah a new world has been added within the “Ellwood World” and it is spectacular. Jorah: Oh sweet Jorah we have all had the pleasure of seeing him grow up and become the amazing man he is. Caring, loving, protective, and so strong. Laiken: Wow. The tragedy the poor soul has experienced is heart crushing yet not only is he strong but also one of the sweetest and loving characters. Individually Jorah and Laiken are amazing Together the are complete. This book will rip your heart out in the first few pages (and many other times) but will put it back together as you go all in on this amazing journey. I never want this series to end because I don’t want to leave this world and these characters that feel like family!
Oh my goodness, I tell you what... Just when I think we’ve been through enough pain and grief, I wonder what more could possibly be thrown at us? Then Jorah has his story, and it is almost brutal in its emotional devastation. My heart felt like it was being shredded until Jorah finally gets to wrap Laiken up in his arms. Even then, Laiken has been through so much trauma that it takes patience, time, and love, for him to even be able to trust that he was safe. The emotional bond between Jorah and Laiken is just written so beautifully that it is impossible not to feel how utterly profound their love is. I adored how it was slow and sweet, giving them time to fully connect before it became physical. It was incredibly satisfying to see Jorah and Laiken come together; my heart went all warm and happy.
And, as always, it wouldn’t be another Ellwood story without the blend of heart-pounding action and unexpected twists. Jorah is completely captivating in every single way!
Man this series holds so much of my heart and I’m excited I took a short break to wait until Talon’s story was out to revisit this world and fall in love again with them. So excited for the next and last one!! Now—Jorah and Laiken—out of all the couples so far they are my favorite. (All amazing though) but this story honest to god gave me nightmares, replacing what happened in the book with my own husband. It clearly is written with a deep beauty that clings to you. But it is hard and it hurts. I loved it though, so so much. Their love felt even bigger than the rest and the power and unique abilities gave it flair. I almost cannot believe what I just read. If you love fantasy and romance do not pass these books by they are top notch. If you are nervous about this particular couple, let me say it’s so far the best so push through the terrible tragedies—you won’t regret it. Thank you Michele Notaro for this world and these people.
I love this series and I couldnt wait to read Jorah's story, Michelle as always didn't disapoint. I LOVED IT!!!
Now I am not gonna lie this was the hardest book out of all the series simply because of the emotion it brings out in you. After waiting for so long to see Jorah finally meet his Viamore it was heartbreaking in places when they had to go through so much together. I honestly do nont want to say too much as I hate giving away any spoilers but some parts of this story were upsetting just because you love the characters.
I was happy that there was plenty of the crazy extended family on this one as they bring so much more to the story, more Alin is always a good thing. Now I just have to wait for the next story but that does give me an excuse to reread all the others.
I was granted an ARC of this book for an honest review
Honestly, Michele has outdone herself. This book was amazing! As always, I do adore all of her books, especially these series that have a special place in my heart, but this totally topped them all. I swear each book I think, can this get any better? And it does!
Each of these characters really do have such individual souls. After even not reading the series for a while, then picking up this one, it honestly feels like I've never left and everything comes back to me.
The ups and downs in this story were intense, seat gripping and also made me a blubbering wreck (both good and bad moments), but it was all coated with the amazing relationship Jorah and Laiken have, as well as their family and friends.
I also can't believe how quick these books come out, considering their length too! Keep up the amazing work as always !
I love magic with a plot the keeps me on the edge of my seat!
I have read both series the Ellwood Chronicles and the Brunswick Chronicles. I enjoyed both of them. I can't wait till the final book in the series, but I will be sad to know that it is coming to an end. When the last siren Lauren thinks all is lost his dreams of his mate keep him going. Norah knows his mate is out there and in dire trouble. He must get to him before it's too late. Now the nerves and the strangest fun begin. This story has some heart breakingly sad circumstances, also some truly joyful ones as well. You need to read their story to appreciate and fall in love with the. Ms. Notaro has intensely great storylines as well as the fun naughty bits as well. I can't wait to read the final book in this series.
I already love this series and am so glad Jorah’s story is here and loved his soulmate Laiken as well. It was as wonderful as I expected and managed to bring laughter, smiles, sighs, and yes even a few tears from me-which is saying a lot because I don’t generally cry when reading pretty much anything. Not so hear with a couple of instances that just grabbed my heart and didn’t let go. From start to finish though it was just excellent. Magic, humor, love, sweet heat, and unique settings and situations.
I love this whole universe and can’t believe there’s only one more book coming, but am excited to see what happens and can’t wait for brave Talon to find his viramore.
These stories are sooooo good and I loved this one just as much as the others. This one really had a bit of a darker tone at points due to everything Laiken went through but I think the story explained it all perfectly. Jorah has been waiting so long for his viramore and his visions help him find him along with help from the rest of his family. I do love how the Ellwood family sticks together and will always back each other up and that reassurance was just what Laiken needed to feel safe there. There is still so much that needs to be done to take of care of the drow and I can’t wait to see who finds their mate next (maybe Talon?).
I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review
It is difficult to contain my excitement with this book and more difficult to avoid spoilers, but I will try to let you know how wonderful this book is without spoil anything. First of all, I don't recommend to read this book as standalone, because the world built by Ms Notaro is so incredible that needs to be read in order to fully enjoy the plot, the evolution of the characters and the amazing love story. I loved every single page and even if I cried a little because the angst situations and some of the Jorah's memories and moments, at the end this book was as enjoyable, magical and incredible as the previous in the series. Wonderful reading!
This is a m/m paranormal fantasy suspense romance novel which is the 4th book in the series and should be read in order. Reading this book hurt a little bit; I’m not going to lie, I had to take a couple days off to read a couple other books and come back. From the very beginning of the Ellwoods, I have adored Torah and looked forward to his story; the authors put a lot of work into this story (you can tell) for all those who loved Torah from the beginning I think. Give this book a chance but read it in order and let yourself grieve for the parts you need to as there some life-altering (possible triggers) that you deal with.
OMG, I cry my heart out!!! I cry so many tears reading this fricking book.... I love Jorah and Laiken so much, this entry series is amazing! Jorah and Laiken story will make you cry, laugh and melt with all the sweet moments these two share, i fell in love with these two! So adorable. You need to read the previous books to truly enjoy this book. I love all the characters of this serie and I can’t wait for the next and sadly the last book! This book is really good and entertaining, I highly recommended it!
