Sebastion’s shyness has been holding him back from losing his virginity, despite it being his New Year’s resolution several years in a row. He is starting to give up hope that he’ll ever lose it, when he finds himself spending a week alone in a mountain cabin with his best friend’s dad. Could Devon be the person he’s been waiting for?
Resolution: Allow myself to be happy again.
Devon has spent years struggling to move on after his husband’s death. He doesn’t expect the first person he’s interested in to be his son’s best friend, but when the adorable, awkward young man turns up unannounced at his cabin, sparks fly, and Devon has to decide whether finally moving on is worth potentially hurting his son.
Resolution is a 19K word MM romance which has a secluded cabin in the mountains, snowball fights, and important New Year’s resolutions. This is the first of two books in the Delaney Duo series. It can be read as a standalone, but it's more fun to read them in order.
Alie writes sweet and fluffy MM romance. Her favourite things to write about are NFL players and big queer families she wishes she could be a part of in real life. She lives in the UK with her husband and a Boston Terrier named Moo. She adores aquatic animals, is a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints, and spends most of her free time reading or painting her nails.
Loved it! Didn’t put it down once loved it! I’m a big fan of age gap romances, toss in best friend’s Dad and I’m on board! I enjoyed Devon and Sebastian’s story. I thought they had great chemistry, and the sexy times were hot. I loved the way the insta-love was played out in this shorter length book. It didn’t feel rushed and was just right! This was a new to me author and I’m eager to read the next in this duo series, and pick up a book from her backlist!
This was a new-to-me author that I can’t wait to read more from. It was an adorable story and I’m looking forward to the one featuring the best friend!
My first review was deleted so here’s my second time adding a review:
I love age gaps and this involved a best friend’s dad, being alone with him in a cabin with him over the holiday, and the dad is bisexual. Oh yes, they’re gettin’ it on for sure.
Devon lost his husband and hasn’t really ever tried to move on, so it’s a little bittersweet that he sees something in his son’s best friend of all people. But the heart wants what it wants! And being alone together while attracted to the other person... they just can’t help themselves.
Sebastian and Devon are worried about the best friend and son, Dylan, finding out and not being okay with it. But surprise surprise... it all works out in the end. And the epilogue shows Dylan popping up with a surprise himself. No spoilers here... you’re just gonna have to read this to see what I’m talking about.
Novellas! I don’t know why I read them knowing they are not going to be meaty enough for me. I was quite listlessly looking for something to read when I came across this Duology. It’s Age gap but not done well. Meh.
This was a short story I grabbed from the Winter Wonderland giveaway because the blurb captured my attention (virgin, BF's father, forced proximity--sign me up!). I'm so glad I did. This was a new author for me and I freaking loved this story! For such a short book, Alie Nolan did a fabulous job of setting up the characters, the relationship, and the attraction. I loved all the characters, the dialogue was great, the scenario was well developed, and the sex scenes were done so well--steamy and romantic at the same time! Now I cannot wait for book 2 that was set up so nicely at the end of the epilogue! I will also be grabbing books from Alie Nolan's backlist as I just love her writing!
4.5 stars!! I really really enjoyed this short story from the Winter Wonderland Giveaway. It’s funny and tender in places, sexy and the end left me speechless! Really looking forward to the next book in the series.
Reviewing short stories/novellas is always a bit challenging for me, since it obviously limits the plot and character development.
This was a nice easy read, and I didn't mind the characters although they weren't terribly distinct. Sebastion had the nervous-blushing-stuttering-insecure-virgin thing going on, which was luckily curbed by the length of the book. It gets old so fast. Devon had a tragedy-past to deal with, though it really didn't seem to impact this at all. Similarly, I didn't feel the age gap as a factor. More so the part where Sebastion is Dylan's best friend. (Maybe I don't know what age gaps are supposed to be like? who knows, not me)
The end was a surprise, but I was entirely focused on the lost sauce which I suppose says something about me as a person.
An adorable short that hits some of my favourite scenarios, stranded in a snow storm with a hunk, age gap, and falling for best friends Dad, I knew this would be delicious. Devon still grieves for his husband and to avoid the New Year partying he takes off to his cabin. Sebastian thinks he's meeting his best friend Dylan for a week's break at Dylan's Dad's cabin. Snow makes changes to that plan. Perfect!! Loved it!!
A cute ‘snowed in with an unexpected visitor’ story. In this one, the young thing (a virgin, natch) comes to his BFFs cabin in the woods, only to find his BFF is delayed and his BFF’s silver fox of a father is there. Their tumble into love is sweet and gentle. It’s a nice story.
I could have sworn that I've read this already. It's a typical story line, I probably read a few similar stories. Still, I feel like I've read THIS one. Anyway, it's your typical sweet and insta-loveish feel-good story with an inexperienced young guy and the lonely older one. I really enjoyed it, exactly what I wanted at this moment of time.
Dang that was a short novella. I think I finished it in about 45 minutes. With that being said it packed a big punch in a short amount of time. I love the virgin and best friends dad tropes and this was perfect. Cute, fun and short read!
This was amazing and I didn't put it down! I love best friend's father, and this was done extremely well. It's hard to do justice to a short story and not have it feel like it was rushed or something is missing, but Aloe Nolan did a great job, and I can't wait for book 2, especially with the teaser left at the end! This is only the 2nd book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last!
Winter Wonderland download, set in a cabin in Colorado. Sebastián travels to meet Dylan at Dylan's father's camp. Dylan gets snowed in in NYC, but his father Devon was hiding from New Year's Eve at the cabin. With alternating viewpoints, this older-younger fling deepens. A short story, Nolan keeps the focus on the men and the cabin, with a great snowball fight added. The tale ends with a surprise, leading to the next book in the series. Her portrayals are spot on, the horizontal activities tasteful.
