The words we leave in the etceteras often hold the power to grow love between us. Etcetera is a collection of poems that gets its inspiration from unfinished conversations. It unpacks and brings to the surface the small words that are omitted but could nurture our relationships and bring us closer to our common human purpose which ultimately is to love one another.
Born and raised in Senegal, Kaffa found her voice in the arts at the age of 11. As a shy little Senegalese girl, writing was her avenue for expression. From spoken word to theater to poetry, Kaffa continues to reflect her love for philosophy and commitment to social justice through her art.
Kaffa enjoys her versatile passions. She finds joy and excitement through her passion for science, arts, sports. As she likes to say, "I go wherever my curiosity takes me, wherever there is excitement and bigger questions whether in Mathematics or in the Arts and Literature."
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley and working as an analyst in Wall Street, Kaffa decided to write her first poetry book Etcetera with love as the central theme.
To Kaffa, poetry represents her channel to connect with the rest of the world. Through it, Kaffa shares her part of the human experience as a Black Sub-Saharan African woman in the diaspora.
i met Kaffa in middle school and so was really excited to read her new book. this was superb with poems so beautifully written that i would go back and reread them just to feel again the power of the words. i look forward to reading more of her works and definitely recommend this one! it’s a precious little gift for yourself or those you love. <333
I read this book every time I need a pick me up. while Kaffa and I have never met, every page feels as though a long distant friend is pouring their love and heart to you in ways you didn’t know you needed. every read bears new gems and I hope everyone takes advantage of this light but deeply fulfilling book!
