Welcome to Bundilla. A new close-knit community where romance can blossom. A compelling story of homecoming and family secrets from bestselling Australian author Alissa Callen.

The road home isn't for the faint-hearted...

Peony flower farmer Clancy Parker was born and bred in the Australian high country. Small-town Bundilla is the only place she will ever truly belong, even if staying means remaining alone. The man she'd loved is long gone and single men are as rare as a summer snowfall.

As soon as he could, street artist Heath MacBride escaped his complicated family and traded mountain peaks for city concrete. Now a commission to paint a mural on Bundilla's water tower brings him home. It doesn't matter how long he's been away, the animosity of his cattleman father hasn't waned. As soon as the water tower is painted, he will be gone.

But between steadfast Clancy, who'd once been his muse, a free-spirited kelpie who becomes his shadow and a corrosive family secret, his best laid plans disintegrate. When life again backs him into a corner, will he have no choice but to leave or will he and Clancy have the second chance they'd each thought would forever remain out of reach?

I have to admit that this is only the second book I've read by this Australian author, Alissa Callen, and after reading this book, I want to read all her books.

Snowy Mountains Daughter was an incredible read and I am delighted to have read it. I really enjoy reading rural romances, but this book had so much more depth to it with characters that you can warm to and let’s not forget all the loveable farm animals. A truly enjoyable read that has been enjoyed by many and will continue to be enjoyed by many more. A lovely written story that I highly recommend.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Clancy Parker loved the high country where she was born and had never left. The small town of Bundilla was her home; the property named Ashcroft the home she’d grown up in with her family. Now living there alone, with her parents gone and her brother Rowan in England – she hoped not forever – Clancy looked after Rowan’s cattle while nurturing her peony flower farm which supplied the town and surrounds while the peonies were in season.

Heath MacBride was a well known and highly popular street artist. He’d lived in Bundilla where he and Rowan were best friends growing up, and Clancy tagged along, loving Heath as only a child could. But a huge blow up with Heath’s aggressive and antagonistic father saw Heath leave the mountain country he loved to head for where he could paint – cities around the globe. Commissioned to paint a mural on Bundilla’s water tower brought Heath home; he needed to see his mother although his father’s attitude hadn’t changed.

Bundy was the town’s free-spirited kelpie. His company would be given to those who needed him most; how he knew was anyone’s guess, but once Heath arrived home, Bundy didn’t leave his side. Secrets from the past had the power to hurt; keeping his feelings to himself was all Heath could do to save hurt to those he loved. But could it remain that way? What would happen as circumstances changed – as they always do?

Snowy Mountains Daughter, with its cover depicting an intelligent and alert Bundy, is the latest from the pen of Alissa Callen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And with her voice at the end assuring her readers she would return to Bundilla in future books, I couldn’t be more pleased. Clancy is a great, well-grounded character and with Snowy Mountains Daughter featuring plenty of animals – dogs, cats, horses; all with personalities of their own – plus the other characters who all have their own parts to play, I have no hesitation in recommending this one highly.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Alissa Callen has delivered again with her latest novel featuring the resilience of bush communities, the volatility of Mother Nature and the healing power of animals.

Bundy, companion, matchmaker and social media sensation, is the town's resident kelpie. Loved by everyone but owned by no-one. Like The Littlest Hobo on the much loved T.V. series Bundy has a sixth sense for who needs his company most and roams from person to person.

Clancy Parker was born and raised in the country town of Bundilla in The Brindabellas. This was her life and unlike many young people, who couldn't wait to leave, she loved everything about the town.

Heath McBride left the town as soon as he could and has made a name for himself as a mural painter. Now back in town to paint the town's water tower he must also face Clancy, the love of his life.

Wow! Alissa Callen has packed so much into this story. There's good friends Clancy and Heath who secretly have a crush on each other but both are reluctant to take the plunge and open up and risk destroying their friendship. We see, through Clancy, that farming isn’t all about cattle and sheep. She has a flower farm which is definitely a time consuming occupation also entirely at the mercy of Mather Nature. One bad storm at the wrong time and it's all destroyed.
Heath is home to paint a mural on the town's water tower which is a fascinating story on its own. Tie into that his estrangement from his father and it makes Heath an interesting and complex character to explore.

If you haven't seen the wonderful murals going up on water towers and silos all over Australia have a look at the website that captures them in all their glory.

Australian Silo Art Trail

Callen doesn't just give a brief obligatory mention of the Aussie countryside, fauna and flora she makes them a part of the overall story giving you the feel and sense of actually being there amongst it all.

A wonderful community of characters were included and I wanted to hear all their stories. Ned, Cynthia and her daughters dropping off sweet offerings, twins Millicent & Beatrice, Mabel the journalist, Clancy's best friend Brenna, Taite, Trent the Vet and Rebecca the florist were all important threads in the story. I'm hoping we will visit them again in future books.

Snowy Mountains Daughter is vividly described from the snow capped mountains to the gum trees and wooden bridges the setting comes alive on the page. A free-roaming kelpie, a second chance at love and a dying mans confession make Snowy Mountains Daughter a story that will have your emotions reeling.

Clancy Parker lives in the Australian high country and she grows peony flowers and at Glenwood Station. Clancy is a down to earth country girl, she loves living in the Snowy Mountains and the closest town is Bundilla. Clancy and her best friend Brenna are members of the book club, sometimes they don’t get around to reading the novel and they try!

Heath MacBride left Bundilla ten years ago, he’s a successful artist and he’s been given the opportunity to paint the towns water tower. Heath’s parents own Hawk Ridge, it’s been in his mother’s family for generations and he doesn’t have a good relationship with his cattleman father. The city boy is back in town, his father isn’t pleased to see him and everyone else is. Heath is staying at the Coach House, it's at Glenwood Station and he’s a friend of Clancy’s brother Rowan.

Heath is a few years older than Clancy, he did notice his friends little sister was starting to blossom before he left town years ago and now she’s a stunning young woman. Clancy's always had a crush on Heath, she is a country girl and Heath's based in the city and he has no plans of staying in Bundilla any longer than necessary.

Heath plans of getting out of town quickly go out the window, his mum needs his help, and he enjoys spending time with Clancy and his friends, and Bundy the towns wandering kelpie becomes his painting companion. When a family secret is uncovered, it has Heath questioning his future, plans and will he be able to leave Clancy?

I really enjoyed reading Snowy Mountains Daughter by Alissa Callen, it’s the first book in the Bundella Novels Series and I’m very keen to read the next book, Snowy Mountains Cattleman. The story is set in the picturesque Snowy Mountains and with an Aussie country theme. Add in some gossip, utes and dogs, painting a local landmark and a good bakery, the growing attraction between Heath and Clancy, this small town girl loved the narrative and five stars from me.

What a fabulous start to a new series, Alissa Callen has created a beautiful small town, Bundilla in The Snowy Mountains of New South Wales Australia and bought it to life with wonderful characters and now I want to visit and stay for a holiday. I loved this one from page one it flowed with love and emotion and the scenery was gorgeous and the flowers it was like I could smell them and then there is Clancy, Heath and Bundy, I do hope that you pick this one up and enjoy it as much as I did.

Clancy Parker was born and breed in Bundilla in the high country of New South Wales where the Brumbies run wild and peonies grow well in the cooler climate and she never wants to leave, although the man that holds her heart is not here anymore he travels the world while Clancy stays on the family property Ashcroft growing her beautiful peonies and looking after her brothers cattle.

Heath MacBride left Bundilla and the family cattle property Hawks Ridge ten years ago after problems with his difficult father, Heath is very happy being an artist doing street art around the world, and Bundilla has asked Heath to return to paint a mural on the water tower in town, he is looking forward to catching up with friends but he is determined to get the mural done and leave town. Seeing Clancy and protecting his heart and making sure Clancy is OK is going to be hard for him, you see Clancy has always held a big place in is heart.

Heath arrives and it is not long before the towns free spirited Kelpie, Bundy takes up with Heath and becomes his shadow. Clancy and Heath have always been friends and Clancy knows that something is troubling Heath and wants to help him but he needs to open up and that is something that he has never done and now keeping her feelings to herself gets harder the more time they spend together as it is for Heath as well especially when a family secret and his father is just about to crack.

This is a story that is so beautifully written, I loved Heath and Clancy, can they finally find the love that they have held inside for so many years, can they find happiness they deserve? This book is a must read so many things to love about it besides Heath and Clancy, there is Bundy what a dog, truly he deserves a book of his own and there are so many characters in this one I can see me visiting Bundilla quite a few times to catch up with everyone. Thank you Alissa Callen for such a fabulous story I loved it.

Snowy Mountains Daughter by Alissa Callen. (2021).

**Thank you to Harlequin Australia for sending me a free copy of this novel; published 3 February 2021**

Peony flower farmer Clancy has always lived in small-town Bundilla and plans to stay there, even if that means remaining single. The man she'd loved is long gone.
Street artist Heath escaped his complicated family and moved to the city. Now he's back to paint a mural for the town but the animosity from his father is still there so he'll be gone again soon.
But between steadfast Clancy (his muse), Bundy (a free-spirited town kelpie), and a corrosive family secret, Heath's plans disintegrate. When life backs him into a corner will he have no choice to leave or will he and Clancy have the second chance they'd both thought was out of reach?

I was happy to read at the end in the author's note that this will be the start of a series in the town of Bundilla because it was really enjoyable. While at times I did want to slap Clancy and Heath for being so silly and not realising that the other also had feelings, I appreciated that the romance wasn't over the top and was subtle: it was a long lasting genuine love. I also liked the domestic drama storylines as well as the small-town vibes where everyone is up in everyone else's business. There was a whole cast of side characters that were all really likeable and/or intriguing so I'm interested to see of those who will be the feature of the next book! Also very much look forward to seeing more of Bundy the dog, I loved the concept of a dog who just stays with whoever he feels needs him.
Overall: I'd happily recommend this Australian rural romance that features some domestic drama.

‘Clancy Parker didn’t need to leave the rugged embrace of the high country to know who she was and where she belonged.’

The warm and welcoming embrace of the close knit community of Bundilla in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales awaits the reader in Alissa Callen’s new release. Snowy Mountains Daughter, which is penned by one of our leading novelists in the field of rural romance, is a tale filled with hope, new beginnings, love, family and togetherness. This latest offering from Alissa Callen certainly warms the heart from start to finish.

Snowy Mountains Daughter heralds the beginning of a new series for established Australian rural romance author Alissa Callen. In this first issue we meet Clancy Parker, a hardworking flower farmer, who hails from the high country region of Bundilla. This small township is the only place that Clancy has ever known and although she lives a solitary existence, Clancy is happy to remain in Bundilla. Interlaced with Clancy’s story is the complicated existence of Heath, a man who returns to Bundilla on a contract only basis to help paint a mural for the town. Heath is determined to shoot through as soon as the painting is complete. With issues and tensions coming from his father, Heath knows he cannot remain in Bundilla. But Heath finds his resolve to leave the town compromised. With an old love, a canine companion and the revelation of a family secret to contend with, Heath is at odds. Will love find a way to bring Heath and Clancy together?

A wholesome read from cover to cover, Snowy Mountains Daughter represents a wonderful new addition to the Australian rural romance collection from a specialist author in this popular genre, Alissa Callen. I always make it a priority to read a new Alissa Callen novel and Snowy Mountains Daughter was no exception. I was thrilled to see that Alissa Callen has created a whole new fictional community for her readers to meet. It really was a genuine pleasure to make the page trek to Bundilla, in the picturesque high mountains region of New South Wales.

With travel still off the cards, it is down to books such as Snowy Mountains Daughter to fill in the gaps. I appreciated being taken on a page-based adventure to an unfamiliar part of our country thanks to Alissa Callen’s new novel. I felt extremely invigored by the scenery presented in this story. I got a real sense for the fresh mountains air, the rugged surrounds, the open space and the beautiful flower farm that the lead lovingly tends to. In addition to the stunning flora depicted in Snowy Mountains Daughter, we also meet some rather personable animal companions. A special mention to Bundy the Kelpie, who is a real pillar of the Bundilla community.

Alissa Callen always presents her readers with rich, engaging and interesting characters. Callen’s leads are well matched and their shared history helped to move this story along. I took a immediate liking to Clancy. I admired Clancy’s line of work and I found great joy in following her journey. Likewise, the male lead of this story was equally endearing. Heath’s character allows Alissa Callen to explore the art world, health issues, family tensions and secrets, which was touched with plenty of intrigue. The path this couple takes to their final happy ever after is plagued by plenty of problems in regards to trust, betrayal, loyalty, heartbreak and personal pain. Despite the high emotion attached to this love story, it is well worth the investment.

Alissa Callen’s series opener is not to be missed. Snowy Mountains Daughter delivers a heartfelt tale of second chance love, rising family tensions, past issues, belonging and fortitude. I would direct Alissa Callen’s new novel to fans of small-town fiction and contemporary romance.

Copy received from Harlequin for an honest review

Now, I am not much for ru-ro stories (I did the tree change to the country, and still haven't found one of these hot country guys!), but the blurb of Snowy Mountains Daughter caught me, and I am glad I picked it up, as I really enjoyed it.

Clancy is a little bit of all of us. A little bit of fun, a little bit of tragedy, a little bit lonely, a little (well, a lot) in love.

Heath is the prodigal son returning, and you just know that he is going to stay.

I loved the part with Heath coming home to paint the water tower - we had a very well known artist come and paint our silos a couple of years ago, and it was amazing, driving by each day and watching the progress of the mural, and how it brough the town together).

But, I digress lol.

Dark secrets, long time love and finally a HEA all come together to bring us a lovely tale. I have not read Alissa Callen before, however I will read more in the future.

It was great to pick up this new series by Alissa Callen, even though it's a new town with new people to get to know, I instantly felt like they were old friends.

Both Clancy and Heath were great main characters, both hiding their feelings from the other, which I have to say I wanted to yell at them 'just tell him/her'. But eventually, they get their.

Heath has kept many things from Clancy and carries a lot of hurt from the way his father treated him in the past and continues to treat him. I really felt for Heath, his father was full of hate towards him, but as things become clearer and secrets are uncovered, the reasons behind his behaviour come to the fore. Heath really struggles with what he wants and what he thinks he deserves and can actually have.

I loved Clancy's character and I love the idea of having a flower farm, what could be better than being surrounded by flowers, but it's hard work, just like any farming, it is highly reliant on the weather and a storm can destroy everything that has been worked for.

Bundy, the free-spirited Kelpie was definitely another main character, one who pulled all the characters in the story together, seeming to know exactly where he should be at any given time, providing support to all who need him.

There were some really great side characters, Clancy's brother, Rowan, was great and I think we will be seeing him again, he provided some humour, getting into some sort of trouble whenever Clancy spoke to him and playing matchmaker between Clancy and Heath. Clancy's best friend Brenna, was an awesome friend and I know we will see her again, she like Rowan still has to find her one true love.

The other characters in the community were wonderful to meet and I really look forward to catching up with them again in the future.

Thank you Harlequin for sending us a copy to read and review.
Welcome to Bundilla.
A small town with family and community spirit and many stories to tell.
Flower farmer Clancy Parker keeps to herself, knows first hand about grief, has never forgotten her first and only true love and has always called Bundilla home.
Successful Artist Heath MacBride escaped the town as soon as he could, avoiding his complicated family.
Now he’s back to paint a mural but as soon as he’s done he’s gone again.
What Heath didn’t expect was his past feelings for Clancy to rise and a long buried family secret to surface.
Can the two former flames get a second chance at love?
A new local neighbourhood, a whole bunch of loveable characters to adore including the district dog called Bundy, much drama, humour, heart and warmth and many tales to be told.
Alissa has given fans a sweet rural romance with drama and a family mystery woven through the plot.
A author who gives readers heartwarming and addictive reads and one I rank high on my list of Australian rural writers.
Wonderful lead cast as well as lots of secondary members, who in the future will have they say in their own stories.
We can’t forget the special animals that are scattered throughout that no doubt will put a smile on your face.
With equal measures of strong characters, romance and different issues covered there’s a good balance without an over abundance of information.
A fun, exciting and enjoyable book that’s a wonderful start to a new series.
I look forward to returning to Bundilla for my next adventure.

‘Clancy Parker didn’t need to leave the rugged embrace of the high country to know who she was and where she belonged.’

The fictional town of Bundilla in Australia’s high country provides the setting for Ms Callen’s latest novel. Bundilla is a close-knit community, a place where peony farmer Clancy Parker feels at home even if she must remain alone. The man she loved is long gone.

Heath MacBride, a talented artist once called Bundilla home. He left to pursue his art, something his father would never accept. But family is always complicated, and with his father in poor health, Heath returns for a short period to support his mother. He has accepted a commission to paint a mural on Bundilla’s water tower. Clancy’s brother Rowan, Heath’s best friend, arranges for Heath to stay on the Parker family property, Ashcroft.

Meet Bundy, an independent free-spirited kelpie, who belongs to no-one but helps many. Bundy shadows Heath, helps out at the school, and is a wonderful mascot for Bundilla. It is almost inevitable that Bundy will be part of the mural on the water tower.

And, while Clancy, Heath and Bundy are central to this story, Ms Callen has introduced a wonderful caste of supporting characters. These include Clancy’s best friend, Brenna, Mabel the local journalist, and the formidable elderly twins Millicent and Beatrice Amos. Each character has a part to play.

While Clancy can tell that Heath is troubled, she seems unable to breach the defences he has built. Why can’t Heath confide in her? Heath’s father is failing, and his mother is struggling. Why is Heath’s father so hostile towards him?

I really enjoyed this novel, with its mixture of romance and secrets. I could imagine the Misses Amos reigning over meetings of the book club and felt great sympathy for Heath’s mother as she tries to keep her husband safe from the ravages of his dementia.

What does the future hold for Heath and Clancy and for Bundilla? Please do not make us wait too long to find out, Ms Callen.

Clancy is an independent woman who runs her own flower farm on her property in Bundila near the Snowy Mountains. Despite losing her parents, she manages the family property and has a good relationship with the town folk and local celebrity, Bundy the kelpie. Clancy has always had feelings for Heath and when he returns to paint a mural featuring Clancy and Bundy, old feelings are brought to the surface and family secrets and tragedies are revealed. A great story of love, the loyalty of animals and family.

Clancy Parker a Poeny flower grower in the small country town of Bundilla. Clancy is living on the family farm Ascroft while her brother Rowan is living overseas in England in the smal town of Cotswood. Thier parents have both passed away in accdient Clancy now has fears of Rowan hurting himself.
Heath MacBride a street artist returns home after 10 years away, leaving after an arguement with his father. He is back to paint the towns Water tower with a mural of Clancy and Bundy a dog which connects to the towns people when they are in need. All Heath wants do is paint the tower and leave. But then he learns of his father's illness of dementia and his mother's wish for them to reconnect, put the past behind them. He finds the family farm Hawkes Ridge in need of work done to it as he can see that his father has let it go. He begins fix repair things goes to doctors visit, gets his father a dog.
Ned the former farm hand is person Heath feels comfortable in talking with about his dad.
Clancy and Heath are both hiding their true feelings for each other when everyone around them can see it without them knowning her brother Rowan, friend Breanna, his parents, and Ned.
Once they they do get together a family secret in Heath family threatens their relationship as Heath a problems in opening up to Clancy and what he belives Clancy should have in life was someone better than him. Also the new town Vet Trent also is problem as Heath think he would be a better match for her as he also she interest in Clancy.
Alissa Callen wrote this amazing rural romance that I hope she returns too cause I would like to see Rowan, Breanna, Taite, Ruby, Hannah, Ned and other in the town of Bundilla find their happy ending too. A great start to her new series.

“Snowy Mountains Daughter” is a rural romance that I found both more touching and more realistic than many novels from this genre. Strong characters and a credible situation made for a particularly enjoyable story.

It looks easy enough to write a rural romance: boy meets girl; obstacles appear; boy wins girl; and throw it all into a rural setting. Easy, right? Except it’s actually quite hard to present a situation where there are genuine obstacles keeping a couple apart, without making them so insurmountable that the inevitable conclusion is difficult to believe. And to me that was one of the greatest strengths of the novel; a truly believable situation and equally believable resolution.

Clancy Parker was born in the Australian high country, and that’s where she wants to stay. She’s building a business farming peony flowers, and loves the small community of Bundilla. Truthfully, she’d like a partner, but the man she loves is long gone. And even if she could open her heart to someone else, single men are rare in Bundilla.

Years ago, bitter words from his father drove Heath MacBride from Bundilla. The art his father despised has brought him world wide recognition, but he still misses his family and farm. Now a commission to paint a mural on Bundilla’s water tower, and family crisis, has brought him home. He doesn’t expect to stay long, though.

The family crisis is worse than he thought, and his need for resolution greater than he’d acknowledged. And then there’s Clancy; the girl he’s loved for so long. He doesn’t know Clancy loves him too. Both are afraid to show their feelings in case it damages their friendship and they lose each other completely. And so both resolutely pretend the other is just a friend.

How real is that? Having strong feelings, thinking the other person doesn’t share them, and so refusing to make the first move? It’s a very simple obstacle, but so much more real than some I’ve seen used.

Heath’s family crisis is the source of some mystery, and Callen does a great job of slightly misleading the reader to keep some tension and suspense in the story. This isn’t overplayed, and again I found it fairly realistic (apart from one tiny detail that bugged me, but which most people will glide past).

This is a really enjoyable novel. The characters are believable: even the more incidental characters are vivid and real. Callen clearly knows and loves the Australian countryside and small communities. And the central relationships, between Heath and Clancy, between Heath and his family, and between Clancy and her brother and friends, all feel very vivid and real too. While it will particularly appeal to readers of rural romance, this novel is likely to appeal to anyone looking for a gentle but credible plot and strong characters.

I love me a country town Aussie book! Clancy the flower grower has always had a crush on her brothers best friend! Heath is an artist who is always traveling whilst Clancy is a homebody. Both lost in their own ways.

I love how I read this in the Snowy Mountains as I’m a mountains girl through and through. So I could picture my own unique places. I am also doing a mural as well so it made me laugh.

I’m a sucker for when people have feelings for each other and both of them have no idea that the other does but it’s been going on for forever. I love that.

Beautifully written I love the description and imagery. Also love all the animals!

There’s so much I loved about Snowy Mountains Daughter that it’s hard to know where to start. This story is a warm, inclusive Australian rural romance set in the NSW Snowy Mountains. As a country girl I felt right at home in this story from the very first page. I admired Alissa Callen’s excellent character sketches. Her country town characters were spot on from Bundilla’s self-important mayor, its busybody locals, the matchmaking mothers, the friendly store owners, and the genuine kindness of locals willing to step in at any moment to offer support.
I loved that this story is told from both Clancy’s and Heath’s perspectives as it gave a far better insight into their motivation and feelings. I admired Clancy. Having lost her parents in a river boat incident three years earlier and with her brother overseas, she competently manages the family farm as well as working her flower farm. She’s strong, very independent and a key member of her local community.
Heath McBride, the only man she’s ever wanted, secretly wants her too but he believes there are barriers to a possible relationship so he’s hiding his feelings as best he can. Disowned by his father at age 18, Heath is a talented street artist, back in town at age 28 to paint the water tower. He’s complex and I didn’t always agree with his actions, but I did admire his unbelievably compassionate treatment of his father, who has been diagnosed with dementia. I loved his plan to paint various familiar scenes from the family farm, “If his father couldn’t retain his memories he’d capture them for him.”
This story was engaging on many levels. The water tower mural provided plenty of entertainment throughout and the ups and downs faced by Clancy and Heath added interest. Perhaps the most entertaining character was former cattle dog Bundy, who stars in the mural painting but aside from that has his own social media account. nearly steals the show. With a dog front and centre in this story, how could I not love it?

Rural romance author Alissa Callen is back with her latest release, Snowy Mountains Daughters. While I have seen the Australian writer’s books on shop shelves, I have not had the opportunity to read one. Thanks to Rachael Johns’s online book club the chance recently came up, so I immersed myself in a new series. Known as The Bundilla series, it takes place in Bundilla, New South Wales. Told in the third person, the storyline centres on two protagonists, Clancy Parker and Heath McBride. Through the protagonists, Callen depicts country life with all its highs and lows including community, friendship and family. Interwoven with these common themes is the more serious issue of dementia.

Twenty six year old Clancy Parker was a lovely woman that I got to know well. She had an unusual job as a flower farmer that I enjoyed learning about. This really set Snowy Mountains apa rt from other rural fiction reads. As a resident of Bundilla, she was an active well known member of the community. She was in both a knitting club and book club. I found I would have liked to spend more time with these groups as they were supposed to be an important part of Clancy’s life. Clancy was fortunate to have a good friend in Brenna who was also a part of the clubs. I envied Clancy’s relationship with her brother Rowan as they were an important part of each other’s lives. I think this had a lot to do with the heartbreaking fact that the siblings had lost their parents in an accident two years ago. When an old love, Heath, returns to Bundilla after a decade away, Clancy finds the spark reignited. Will she take a second chance on love?

Heath McBride’s return to Bundilla stirs up many memories for his family and Clancy. At the age of eighteen, he left home under a cloud to pursue his dreams of being an artist. Heath had a loving relationship with his mother but the relationship with his father was strained. The small unit had experienced a lot of pain and grief with two other siblings that would be difficult for any family to recover from. Being back home again gave Heath the chance to try to mend bridges with a father that was suffering from dementia. The silver lining was that Heath could reconnect with Clancy, the love of his life. Yet like Clancy, he is reluctant to be more than friends. Being commissioned to paint a mural for the town in an uncommon place will help the couple realise their true feelings.

Filled with warmth and love, Snowy Mountains Daughter paints a vivid picture of country life.

Really enjoyed this book, which is book one of a new series- so I’m rapt.

Story of a young peony flower grower who lives on the property that was her parents when they were alive. She has spent her life in the small rural town of Bundilla. Her brother Rowan has the travel bug, and is a somewhat accident prone thrill seeker who is currently living abroad in the UK. Clancy looks after the property, which includes the homestead and also cottage that her and brother did up to be a holiday rental to generate some income for them both.

Heath previously lived in Bundilla also and grew up with Clancy, Breanna and Rowan and they hung around together. Clancy had feelings for Heath. Unbeknown to Clancy, Heath also had feelings for her. Heath left Bundilla after his father and he had an arguement and started to paint murals and other artwork around the world.

Heath returns to Bundilla to paint a mural on the town’s water tank for milestone celebration. Heath’s plan is only to stay for a short duration.

When he arrives and catches up with his mum, he discovers his dad is not well and the property has been allowed to deteriorate. Whilst in town Heath sets out to put things right with his dad, to help his mum, help Clancy and others in the town and to start to get the property back to prime condition.

This book is cleverly written, I enjoyed the storyline, the characters are realistic and love the rural bush station type feel to it. Looking forward to the second book which should be out next year according to the blurb at the back of the book.

The kelpie in this story reminds me of our WA’s Dampier and Karratha’s famous Red Dog..and funny enough the day I finish this book on the news is an item on WA’s largest mural in Collie-on the Wellington Dam walls that a young artist has been painting.

Are you looking for a romance novel you can snuggle up with and read?

Snowy Mountains Daughter is the first in the series set in the small Australian town of Bundilla. The story follows Clancy, peony flower farmer and the man she has always loved, Heath MacBride. Clancy is mourning the loss of her parents and living in a supportive small town. Bundilla is where she belongs. I fell in love with the town. I could picture the beauty of the countryside and wide open spaces. In her acknowledgments Alissa Cullen comments that she hopes that readers will 'smell the mountain wildflowers and hear the thunder of brumby hooves.' I certainly did. Flowers have so much meaning. The fragrance of the peonies stuck with me throughout the story. I had these fluffy, beautiful flowers in my own wedding posy, so this added to the romance of it all. Flowers, art, romance and a small town. It all worked together to create a novel that I enjoyed with some tea whilst sitting in my comfiest chair.

The romance that started to blossom between Clancy and Heath years ago was never explored. When Heath comes home to Bundilla to paint a mural in the town's water tower he reconnects with his family and his friendship with Clancy. The story explores the struggles between family members, the importance of loving oneanother and identity within the family. Clancy and Heath are both easy chatacters to love and loved by the townsfolk.

A small town romance with interesting characters. I would recommend Snowy Mountains Daughter and am looking forward to reading more in the series. Alissa Callen's writing is atmospheric and touching.

Thank you @harlequinaus for sending me a copy to read and review. What an enjoyable read.

As soon as I started reading this truly delightful novel, I knew I was in for something extra special. Alissa Callen is a new to me author, and after finishing 𝕊𝕟𝕠𝕨𝕪 𝕄𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕤 𝔻𝕒𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕖𝕣, I'm excited to read her previous works!! Her writing style is so descriptive, I felt like I was a part of the story.

The first book of the Bundilla series follows the lives of two central characters: Clancy Parker and Heath McBride. The pair had grown up as close friends and as close to siblings as you could get. However, circumstances pulled them apart when they finished school- Heath to chase his dreams studying art, whist Clancy remained on her parents farm. In the past ten years, the only time they had seen each other was at Clancy's parents funeral.

Now reunited after many years apart, they must give into their feelings for one another to try and make a future that will work. There are some troubling circumstances that may make these developments impossible, including Heath's estranged father's illness. Honestly, after a very slow burn there is a major moment that will make you squeal in delight! Heath McBride, you've now been added to my very long list of male literature characters that I would want to date in real life!!

The real hero of this story is Bundy, the nomad Kelpie. He brings such a wonderful and unique vibe to the story, along with his animal friends! I really wish I lived in a town like Bundilla that had its own local dog.. heck I'd love to visit or live in Bundilla. The township is just so charming with all of the little businesses and community activities!

A well deserved 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Snowy Mountains Daughter is book one in the Bundilla series by Alissa Callen. Heath MacBride accepted the commission to paint the water town in his hometown. Heath MacBride best friend, Rowen Parker, gave him access to the family guest house on the family property. However, Rowen Parker did not tell his sister, Clancy, that Heath was coming home to Bundilla. The readers of Snowy Mountains Daughter will continue to follow Heath and Clancy to find out what happens.

Snowy Mountains Daughter is another fantastic book by Alissa Callen. I love reading books by Alissa Callen, and I was not disappointed in reading Snowy Mountains Daughter. I engaged with this book from the first page, and I could not put this book down. I love Alissa Callen's portrayal of her characters and how they interact throughout this book. Snowy Mountains Daughter is well written and researched by Alissa Callen. I like how Alissa Callen described the settings of Snowy Mountains Daughter to allow me to imagine living in the Australian High Country.

The readers of Snowy Mountains Daughter will learn about running a mixed rural property in the Australian High Country. Also, the readers of Snowy Mountains Daughter will learn about Lewy Body Dementia and how it affects the suffering and everyone around them.

I recommend this book.

There is something about a good rural romance that warms me on the inside and Snowy Mountains Daughter is no exception!

Set in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales in a small town called Bundilla is where we meet Clancy Parker, Peony flower farmer. Clancy is managing the family farm on her own after losing her parents in a accident a few years earlier and with her brother overseas.

Heath MacBride, her brother's best mate and street artist who escaped the country life for city life many years ago is returning to Bundilla to paint a mural on the town's water tower but once he's finished, he's gone again. There is too much animosity with his father to be able to stay.

Clancy has loved Heath ever since she was sixteen years old but she has never told him how she feels. When he left town when he was 18, it broke Clancy's heart! Will him returning break her heart all over again when its time for him to leave? She needs to be strong and not let her feelings surface but sometimes that is easier said than done!

This book is full of loveable characters and beautiful community spirit. My favourite character would have to be the local town dog, Bundy! It's like he senses who needs him the most at a particular time and that's who he stays with.

A great romantic read with a touch of family drama/mystery that holds your intrigue. A perfect romantic read for the Valentines weekend!

Thank you to @harlequinaus for my copy to read and review.

This is the first book I have read from author Alissa Callen. I loved it.
It's the story of Clancy Parker and Heath MacBride, which is in a small town called Bundilla. The town had a lively bunch of people, a very close knit community. Bundy the Kelpie was the star, who new who needed comfort and when and would be their shadow and helped the town kids also with his presence . That was amazing. I liked the idea of the book club, it did bring the ladies together, a special bond. The peonies flowers, the mountains, the rivers , and the horses all contribute to the rural town feeling.
At first I was very angry with Heath's Dad and his indifference to his son. But as the story progressed the reason for the Dad's behaviour became clear and I felt for him as he had to just bottle up all his emotions and deal with so many losses. Heath's Mum was a gentle person who patiently dealt with all the situations in her life. Animals do have a special place in a human beings life and in the story it can been seen through the dogs Minnie, Bundy ,Jasper, Primrose and Iris.
A very engrossing story of homecoming, love, loss and friendship. A feel good Rural romance. Thank you Alissa Callen for writing such an interesting story, with an unpredictable twist.

Beautiful and sweet, I enjoyed this book immensely a perfect Rural Romance.  Childhood friends Clancy Parker and Heath MacBride have taken different paths, one loves the Australian high country and it is the only place she ever wants to call home while the other has run from it overseas and become a world-renowned mural artist.

A commission in Bundilla brings him home to his family and Clancy his best mate's sister who he grew up with.  Clancy has always loved Heath but when he up and left suddenly after a fight with his Dad her heart was broken. Clancy knows this will just be a short trip but can she protect her heart from the only man she has ever loved?

The book brings to life the countryside and is another reason I enjoyed the book so much. The way Alissa describes the high country and surrounds had me wanting to pack my bags to see the Tumut River. I loved how real the characters were and I fell in love with Bundy, the free-spirited kelpie.

The book had it all - a lovely town, great characters, family secrets, and a love story. Highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more books by Alissa Callen. Thank you to Beauty and Lace and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read and review this book.
