Julia Clemens always dreamed of putting stories to paper and now she gets to live that dream with her two adorable boys and one handsome hubby. From the sandy shores of Maui to the Rocky Mountains and then back to another island in the Pacific, serene Japan, Julia has lived around the world and found that even though all of these places are majestic with their natural beauty, the thing that makes every place so special...are the people. So she writes about those people and loves every minute of it.

Whisling Island Events is by Julia Clemens. This is the 8th book in the series. It took me a little while to figure out who each of the characters was and how they were related to the others and to get use to having each chapter change to a different character and still figure out what was going on. Once I did, the book went faster. It was really good to get back to the Island and visit old friends. There were few new characters and a few new problems; but mostly it was catching up with friends. This makes for a good book though and it is what made we enjoy this book.
Ok! Here goes...(I really dislike giving a review) ... let's get the bad out of the way first...I have read the whole series so far. I feel that the last three (3) books could of been proof read a bit better. More errors in this last book than the other two (2). Good part now... I want to move to Seattle. More specific Whisling Island. And I want to be friends with all the women there. This book has a lot of characters but also a lot of story lines. Hope you all read this series and ENJOY...
This installment in the Whistling Island series was satisfying. It moved several storylines a long and each one was well written and made me eager to read the next one. I was sad for Piper’s loss of her child but happy that other couples found happiness. I wanted to yell at Marsha and yet I remain hopeful things will work out in the end. I think this is best read as part of a series and not as a stand alone.
I didn't think I could get through the first chapter. Ms. Clemens writes with such passion I was a mess reading the sadness in the telling of the story. Happy stories bring us such joy but some of my favorite characters had their share of pain and sadness. A good writer let's you feel the pain and sadness. That is why this book is a five 🌟. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.Enjoy!
I love how these characters are feeling like friends. I enjoy how the author goes from one woman's story for a whole chapter and then on to another woman and her life at that moment. You do find it is like having friends and catching up on their lives over coffee or dinner. The author has a style I enjoy with not only drama but humor also. I truly like the fact that this is a series as I am enjoying every book and never want this series to end!!
This is an amazing series. You laugh and find happiness in the successes that the character achieve with battling a life crisis. The way love conquers all. The sadness with the death of a loved one, family dramas. Love ups and down. I am enjoying these characthers as the come alive in each novel.
... and the "story" was such a mishmash of stories (seemed like a new one each chapter) that seemed to have nothing to do with each other until the end (which was not and ending), but only barely. Too many names and problems to keep straight and the fact they all finally converged at a party at the end didn't really help them mesh.
I guess because I hadn’t read the previous books in this series, that it all seemed pretty confusing to me. Too many characters and too much jumping back and forth. I kept waiting for some great moment to find out how they were all connected…but it never came. I wouldn’t recommend reading this without reading the previous books.
5 stars for Whisling Island Events. Just like revisiting old and new friends. So heartbroken to read of a child's end. I had to break out the Kleenex. Can't wait for the last installment.
This really was a good book, but when you write multiple storylines, one of the problems is that of having multiple climaxes. I didn't feel this book accomplished that as well as it could have.
So many characters in several different story lines that the author attempts to pull together at the end of the story. The book lacks depth with too much going on. I had no idea what the story was really focusing on and still don’t.
Forgiveness is sometimes hard but can do wonders when you can forgive others
I found all the different stories going on a little confusing. They did not seem to connect at first. Each story was very good though and each could have been a complete book on it's own.
A wonderful story of many relationships, love and forgiveness and how hard love can be. Great characters and story and not ready for it to end. Glad a sequel is available and highly recommend Julia's books.
Interesting characters and interesting relationships. There are intertwined relationships in this novel about the opening of a fine wedding/event venue on an island outside of Seattle. Enjoyed the story.
This was filled with so many interesting events. With the girls opening their manor. Amber's dad coming to the grand opening and realizing he was her dad. Julia having a good closure with her father. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
I cried throughout much of this book. My heart is with Piper and I hope she can find joy again. Poor Alexis and Jared. My thoughts are dark when they turn to Marsha…ugh nasty woman.
Enjoyable, gentle tale about likeable characters forming bonds, finding love, and resolving problems. I enjoyed it, but do not feel compelled to read other books in this series.
