3Souls: an ancient uptown love triangle

Rate this book
At the heart of modern man lies the ineffable desire for more. But more of what? And why? 3Souls tells the stories of three individuals whose lives converge in New York and diverge in their quests to find out more about life, and in the end, more about love. Raphaella Hurston, the most sultry woman in Harlem, decides to confront her own tortured yearnings by bounding down the rabbit hole. She meets an aged Greek monk who offers her a life not of this world. But this new life threatens to consume not only Raphaella and her daughter but also the two men who love her most. David Higgins is a failed writer, a teacher and Raphaella’s “baby daddy.” Raised on thick dollops of self esteem, David is ill-equipped for the terrible veracity Raphaella demands of herself. Mitchell Mitkin is a science geek with an attitude, an utterly offbeat wunderkind whose single minded devotion to the intellect unexpectedly appeals to Raphaella. He too misjudges, however, and soon finds himself lurching headlong toward the destruction of everything he once loved. David, Mitchell and Raphaella, three souls caught in a maelstrom of passion, revolution and divine ascent.

A well-written and interesting story by a completely unknown author. The only fault of this book is the religious storyline which seems forced into the story. Overall though a good read and fascinating characters.
