Things get heated between two rivals on and off the track in this steamy, sporty contemporary romance where:
- He's the sexy-as-sin bad boy of international motorcycle racing - She's America's Sweetheart ready to snatch the win from beneath his wheels - On the racetrack, they're kerosene and a lit match - But in the bedroom, they can be so much more.
I've spent years struggling to prove myself to the world, even as I fought to save my family from the clutches of a man who would like nothing more than to see me fail. He's not the only one. My Lorina—America's Sweetheart Lorelai Hargrove—would also like me to eat her dust.
But this is the game we play. She pretends she hates me, and I wind her up as I pretend she's not all I think about. And yet after a deadly wreck, her confidence is so shaken, my Lorina needs me to stop being her favorite enemy and tell her that I want to spend the rest of my life chasing her to that finish line again and again and again.
If only the battle to make it to the podium didn't cost us everything.
She is my rival. My Tigrotta. My dearest enemy...and the greatest love of my life. But this, I can never let her know.
Katie Golding is a racing fan with a writing problem. The recovering cheerleader lives in a small town outside of Austin, Texas, mom to a future philanthropist, and wife to a superman. Her writing playlists range from 80s love songs, 90s grunge, 00s punk, to new age underground in less time than it takes her to burn dinner, and she is currently at work on her next romance novel—unless she’s tweeting about it. Represented by Kelly Peterson of Rees Literary Agency.
WRECKLESS by Katie Golding shines. Massimo and Lorelai are both driven and competitive and I loved living inside both of their motivation to be the best. Every time I was in Massimo’s point of view, I couldn’t help but think of “I knew I loved you” by Savage Garden because his adoration for his Lorina is woven through everything he does and it's clear it always has been. Lorelai's story is as much a love story as a tale of resilience and healing. This action-packed, passion-filled story will leave you feeling wrecked in the best possible way.
This is one of those books you open, thinking you're just going to peek at the first page before a doctor's appointment, and four hours later you're still standing at the kitchen counter, tearing through pages.
There were scenes in this that left me literally breathless, and the intensity! I wish all romance novels could capture this level of passion and emotion.
Massimo is not even my normal "type" in heroes but after this book, I would murder baby wombats for this man (note: no wombats were harmed in the making of this review). Massimo is a consummate badass, and more importantly, he'd do anything for the woman he loves...including antagonize the hell out of her because with this girl, the way to her heart is to get her to race you there. I loved watching them compete on the track and off, and how well he knew her to be able to help her through a crisis of confidence after a wreck. Lorelai herself is something else...tough, driven, and so brave she just makes your jaw drop. To be the first female motorcycle racer when you're going 200 miles an hour, taking turns so hard your hair brushes the pavement...it's hard to fathom.
I can't say I ever thought about motorcycle racing before, but it doesn't even matter...the romance sucked me in so hard, and then the race scenes took me by complete surprise with how invested I was: mostly in seeing Lorelai wipe the track with that whole crowd of boys, lol. I loved seeing the horseback riding scenes in her ranch back home, and the sophistication of Massimo's Italian hometown.
This series made me forget there was a world outside my Kindle, and the characters at times seemed more multi-dimensional than people in my real life. This story was breathtaking, passionate, and utterly unforgettable.
This book was so much more than I was expecting. I wasn’t prepared for Massimo and Lorelai, their intense chemistry, the fever on the tracks, and a writing style that blew me away.
I fell in love with both main characters. Massimo is a textbook latin lover–sensual Italian words, extreme romanticism, some fire, and a touch of danger–while Lorelai was more complicated than your typical cowgirl–sure, she grew up in a ranch, but in a wealthy family, and though she’s merciless on the tracks, she isn’t quite a tomboy either, cue sexy gala gowns. Between them, there were fireworks, both from passion and anger. Don’t expect a dull moment between them.
The pace of the story was perfect, with quieter times between intense races and emotional scenes. But with the passion shown by both characters, I was expecting a few more intimate scenes.
As I love some sports in my sports romance, I was more than served. Here, motorcycles are part of the story–as well as the imagery. You don’t even have to like them. The author’s words sweep you away and you’re left with hands in fists, heart beating fast, waiting for the final lap. As good as on TV.
Prepare yourself to pull an all nighter, because you won’t be able to put this book down.

👍 Like :
- I loved the chemistry between Massimo and Lorina at the beginning.
- It was so hilarious that Massimo's brother was a big fan of Lorina instead of his own brother.😂
👎 Dislike :
- I did not like the writing style.
- What's Billy's issue? I really hated the way he behaved with Lorina. Such a a**hole! Injured or not.
- Lorina and Massimo had known each other for almost 10 years. Instead of giving their relationship a chance, they chose to be with other people.
- I hated Santos and the fact that Lorina didn't really confront him once.
- All those scoreboards or whatever was making my head spin so much. The author didn't really explained how the racing works. I mean not all of us were aware of this. If the author wanted to like the readers her books, she needs to be more specific in the explanation part rather than keeping the information to herself. It's super annoying.😕
- I would've been okay with Chiara and Massimo's friendship if they didn't cross the line. They fucking slept together and Massimo said it didn't matter and wanted Lorina to get over the fact quickly because Chiara wasn't going anywhere. Oh, he also had the nerve to make her feel guilty about it as well. WTF? Massimo spoke about her like she was more important than Lorina. I don't care if she had a hard past but you don't cross that line with your friends unless you actually want her and you want your current girlfriend whom you claim to love for 10 years be okay with that fact. What an a**hole!
"Chiara and I are always friends first. We grew up together, and there are no secrets between us. But people also need affection, sex, someone to welcome you home when you are gone for months. And Chiara..." I wave dismissively. "She needs to have someone when I am gone. Though many times, she still has someone even when I am home, but that is fine too. We have not been serious together for long time, and after so many years, we both have accepted the truth."
Man, this was sick and fucked up on so many level. I'm fuming right now just typing this. What the hell was wrong with this guy?😠 Oh, there's more.
"What do you think, Lorina? You think because you are important to me I was going to sit around, waiting for you to think of me as something other than your enemy? No. I am a man, and I was to see the women I like. I was to get from them things I cannot ask from you."
Wasn't he the perfect man of every woman's dream? Not. Seriously? People actually liking this book even with an a**hole like him as the lead male character? Wow. I can't believe he actually said that. And Lorina, like a pathetic female character she was who didn't have an ounce of self-respect, she actually felt guilty and accepted this without even any argument or letting him grovel. Btw, if he loved you he would wait for you. Sex was not everything.
- What the hell? When I read the synopsis, I didn't thought Massimo was gonna help Lorina by being a complete asshole. Criticizing her all the time. Ugh! Instead of understanding her situation, it was like just because he was commanding her because of his frustration to get over her PTSD, she should get over it just like that. Still Lorina had the nerve to feel guilty. And whenever Lorina crashed, Massimo never stopped his race. I'm pretty sure even her death wouldn't make him stop his race.
"I have yelled at her, been cruel to her. I have watched her crash and not stopped to help her."
You don't say. Note the sarcasm.
- Massimo completely ignored her when Lorina asked him if he wanna grab a bite or something because he didn't want people to know about them. Oh, also because he knew whatever he did wrong, Lorina would forgive him. His words, not mine. Wow. The more I read this book, the more I'm amazed. And not in a good way.
- Btw, Massimo lived with Chiara and he withheld the information from Lorina. She had to find out when she went to surprise him. Again, wow!😕 I kept wondering how would he react if the situation was reversed.
- Lorina was plainly pathetic and didn't have any self-respect when it's necessary. She's like a wannabe badass who's doing a bad job at being a badass.
I know Massimo. And he might do messed-up stuff sometimes, but he would never, ever do anything to hurt me. He always puts me first.
FYI, he never for once put her first. And he did constantly hurt her. But then again, Lorina probably had a different definition of the world hurt and love.
- Massimo never for once shared about himself with her. She had to know from Chiara.😐 Wait, why was I even surprised? Silly me.
- He ignored Lorina for days, probably weeks even though they stayed in the same room. It wasn't even her fault. Yet Lorina stayed with him without confrontation. And when Chiara gave him a reality check, he went after her and bam, everything was okay.
- Why the fuck are you insulting Batman by comparing him with the a**hole of the century aka Massimo? Ugh! It's an insult to the Batman.
- They're engaged and I hated the ending. But whatever.🙄
This book became boring pretty quickly. When I was done with only 16%, I knew this book was gonna be a torture to finish. Wouldn't have continued if I didn't have a racing prompt to finish. Ugh! Even though I skimmed so freaking much, I didn't miss anything important whatsoever. I can't believe I actually read this book. Sigh! The characters were awful. Specially Massimo. He was disgusting. Their relationship was pretty toxic tbh if you think about it. But whatever. I don't care anymore. I didn't like this book at all. Even though I love racing both movies and books, this book just left ruined my mood because of the bad execution of such an amazing trope.
I liked this mostly! A bit overwrought but I forgot what a feature of new adult novels that usually is. It really captured the grind of a sport that movies from place to place. Still want an actual F1 romance, though.
This romance is long, and I could tell the love author Golding has for the sport of extreme motorcycle racing. Her writing is breathtaking and sparkling as Lorelai takes every bend, but for me I wanted way less race description and way more kissing.
I know 0% about the sport, but Golding does a good job giving you details on it. If you love romances with a heavy emphasis on the career this is a great one for you. For me, I found myself skimming to the scenes with Massimo and Lorelai together, and for the amount of sexual tension these two generate I wanted more sexy times!
Thank you to the publisher and Edelweiss+ for the ARC
CW: drinking, medical trauma, heroine has a horrific on-page accident early in the book, anxiety and fear over returning to racing/being injured
I enjoyed this book so much. The writing and the flow of the story really made me excited to read the next chapter. I HAD TO WAKE UP EARLY FOR WORK BUT THIS BOOK DIDNT LET ME GO!!!! I had to stop myself, try to stop myself, and actually sleep. But I didn't want to! That tells me that this book really grabbed my attention and held it for a very long time. And this book is a MONSTER. It's like 400+ pages long and you know I'm not reading big books right now. But Katie Golding managed to completely devour this book.
Some bullet points: - rivals to lovers - motorcycle racing mcs - they've known each other since they were 15 - for 10 years the hero has asked the heroine to marry him 11 times - she has said no
one thing i will say i wanted... more, probably it's the groveling bit. you'll see when you read it but i was like damn he needs to apologize MORE. there was some miscommunication that led them to fight and stuff so ... but OVERALL i did like this book and the rivals to lovers trope is EXCELLENT.
I give 4 super fast stars to Massimo and Lorelai. I absolutely could not put this book down. Between the races and off-the-track drama - I couldn't look away. This is an enemies to lovers book and it is definitely all the good things about that trope and none of the bad.
Lorelai is a serious racing diva. She is 100% focused on racing and winning - nothing else is going to come between her and the outcomes she wants. Massimo is the same - except that he has also been in love with Lorelai since he was 15. He's been approaching it very oddly - but that love has been there. He also recognizes Lorelai not just as his love - but as the champion she is. He wants every step they take to be her choice - and doesn't want anything in his life to impact those choices. Their relationship is fiery and complex and wonderful.
I know zippo about motorcycle racing - but this book kind of made me want to go watch some. And I read the results tables at the start of each chapter like it was my JOB! I even followed some of the other racers pretty closely to see what happened to them.
One of my all-time-favorite sports romances is Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid and this book had very similar vibes (just straight romance vibes) - but similar.
I highly recommend. Katie Golding - please write more books in this series. Pretty please. Don't make me as 12 times like Massimo.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.
How the FMC became a SPINELESS one from a badass because of the MMC is really just disgusting.
You can’t feel the love between them specially Massimo, he’s pure trash and thinks the world revolves around him. Him and the Chiara thingy, him thinking that the FMC will forgive everything he does, him hiding the fact he was living with the OW. He. Is. Disgusting.
It’s so sad that authors turned their FMC into pathetic, no self-respect females in the middle up to the end 🤮
I finished this book a couple days ago and I initially gave it a four star rating, but I literally have not stopped thinking about it since I finished it. The audiobook really made this book for me because of the accent, I think, for the narrator for Massimo. I just... I love him. I love Lorelei. This book was such a well done rivals to lovers with real hate to love vibes, but underneath the hate to love was simmering sexual tension and the fact that actually Massimo had been in love with Lorelei forever.
I guess I should actually mention what this book is about. Essentially Massimo and Lorelei race moto pro, which basically means that they race motorcycles, which seems absurdly dangerous for little reward, but what do I know? Anyway, they've been long time rivals since they came up together and they go hard on the track. Lorelei gets injured pretty badly during one of the races and that's when things start to change between them.
I would classify this book as a slow burn, but in such a way where the tension is pretty high the entire time because you know what they feel for one another and you just want them to get there. This book involves keeping secrets in such a way that got a little aggravating at some points, but also fit with the characters and who they were. I also really liked how this book sort of deals with trauma, but I do wish it had leaned in a little more and maybe Lorelei could have gone to a sports psychologist or something. Nevertheless, I thought this book and the Italian were so delightful, I would definitely recommend! I will say there is a lot of gear shifting talk that fits with the characters and there is a lot of racing stuff, so this is a sports romance that leans into the sports part, but if that doesn't sound completely awful to you, I would definitely recommend!
Technically, I received an ARC from Netgalley and Sourcebooks, but I actually listened to it via Hoopla through my library. And just in case I haven't said it enough, truly, I highly recommend the audiobook!
2. I would fight a b*tch for him, but I’m pretty sure Lorelai could take me.
3. I did not realize that riding a motorcycle with someone could be such an erotic experience. I am truly missing out.
4. I'm HERE for a woman mopping the floor (or track, in this case) with a whole bunch of arrogant-ass men.
5. Did I mention that I will love Massimo forever?
I couldn't put Wreckless down to save my life. I stayed up late reading, then read with my morning coffee, abandoned work halfway through the afternoon to come back to Massimo, and then read through the entire evening...finishing in 24 hrs! And then I read it AGAIN so I could savor it.
My husband had whole conversations with me that I did not remember participating in because I couldn't be bothered to look up from my kindle.lol
I seriously couldn't get enough of these two clashing on and off the track. I LOVE a love interest that respects and challenges their partner, all while adoring the hell out of them. And Lorelai was seriously such a beast. Her drive and ambition were so fun to ride along with.
For real...read this book. And then read it again. Then throw it at every romance reader you know.
This action packed romance book was so unexpectedly good that I'm so angry that it took me this long to read it. Massimo is amazing! So amazing I want my own Massimo! This was my first book by this author and I'm sure it won't be the last one!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wreckless by Katie Golding was my first book by the author and a great romance story. I’m always up for a good enemies to lovers and contemporary romance and this story checked all my boxes. The banter was so good that either had me laughing out loud or cheering either of them and the chemistry was there from the beginning to end. While plays a dangerous game and tries to save his heart from heartbreak, he also realises that actually Loraine is his first and the last love of his life and the person who deserves his thrust more than anything. He does take his sweet time to do so but it’s understandable and it worked well in here. Loraine is probably my first heroine that I’ve read about being a motorcycle racer and I just loved her. Her caring persona really touched me and the dynamics with her family was so spot on and always put a smile on my face. I’m surely looking forward to read more by the author now.
This is such a piece of shit book. The way the author handled the best friend, Chiara situation is extremely BS.
The FMC has clear valid insecurities but the MMC made HER FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT instead of reassuring her constantly. He also hid the fact he lived together with his best friend and HE GOT AWAY EASILY for that!! It pisses me off so much.
His asshole-mess towards the FMC was explained by a sob story. Oh BOO HOO poor him 🤬🤢🤮. That doesn’t give him the excuse to tear his best friend better than “the girl he loved since he was 15” 🖕
It’s immensely clear that the author has a favorite character and that’s Chiara. The MMC got his underwear in a twist for her, not to mention the next book is about her, I bet she got the best MMC in this series.
It is just depressing to know that the author wrote one of the badass FMC but turned her into a spineless, doormat lover. It’s what happened to most “strong” female leads in books after they got together w/ trashy and asshole male leads.
Absolutely would reread, a wonderful 5 star romance.
Firstly, I don't fool around with sports/racing romances often. They seem more high stakes than any other subgenre for some reason, and and always get my heart pumping in an okay, that was awesome but I don't really want to do that more than once in a while type of situation. Also someone always seems to crash or get injured somewhere around the climax and my poor heart can't take that kind of stress.
Fortunately, with this book, we got all of the crashing out of the way in the first half. The rest of it was devoted to the development of romance between our 2 MCs and their respective traumas/baggage.
I absolutely loved the way that Lorelai's crash actually affected her. I do not have PTSD so I can't speak on how accurate the representation is, but I will say that it made sense for her to be affected when she had been through an incredibly traumatic crash such as hers. I really appreciate that it wasn't a subplot for 2 chapters and then thrown away, and it was something that Lorelai really struggled with for the majority of that season. In hindsight, I feel like the rest of her Traumatic Backstory™️ kind of took a backseat when it actually drove her reluctance to be with and trust Massimo, and that really was there for 2 chapters and then it was thrown away. However, I won't deduct points for that because honestly I feel like I've already seen every version of "my bio dad abandoned or mooched off of my mom when she needed him". I also think it was actually done well when I think back on it more, because it was alluded to from very early on, and when it stopped being mentioned, Lorelai had made a conscious, on page decision to stop letting her bio dad affect her life.
I don't have much to say about Madsimo because I don't think his baggage is mentioned that much in the synopsis so I'm trying to keep it on the down low. However, I will say that it was simultaneously more tense and less tense than I was expecting as the book went on. I didn't see this as a bad thing, but I also can see where persons would think the author could have done something more tension inducing with his subplot. Massimo's POV chapters fully earned my heart, and I also like that he wasn't really clown funny or strong silent type, but he still had a distinct personality.
I also really liked something that this author did which really helped me, especially because I'm really not a sport person. While there was a lot of racing terminology, and talk about shifting gears and such, and a lot of that flew over my head to be honest, this author had like mini chapters where you could see who came in which spot in the races through the season. There were a couple of these chapters back to back where one of our MCs had been doing really well and then suddenly dropped to last place or almost last, and it had some sort of highlighting effect on how invested I was in who won, which is awesome.
As to the actual love story, please kill me now. This book is peak He Falls First Romance. Absolutely delicious. Specifically speaking about this quote:
"My heart slams in my chest, and I mentally scream at myself that if she asks if I’m okay with her going Superbike, I will say yes. I will support her dreams, no matter what, because for Lorina, racing comes first. Always has, always will, and I swore to myself that I would accept being second place in her life as long as I got to have her in mine. But fuck, I don’t want her to go."
I can only wish on a shooting star to be loved like this. I have said it before and I'll say it again, books where the LI is wrapped around our MC's pinky nail are one hundred percent gold. This book simultaneously made me believe in love and believe that love like this could never exist and that's how you know it was good.
This entire book was a wild ride from start to finish and is going right back into my TBR pile.
Special Mentions: The Nicknames! You will know what I'm talking about when you read this. :The use of sporting terms during sex scenes by both of them was artfully done, I think, and really highlighted how big of an impact their racing had on them.
Wreckless is the second title in the Moto Grand Prix series, and what a sizzling, involved, nail-biter of a story it turned out to be!
Massimo and Lorelai. I can’t remember the last time a “love to hate each other” couple grabbed me by the emotions and held me tight until the final page like these two did. Massimo knows his woman, that’s for sure because Lorelai needs to know that she’s making it through the ranks to the very top all on her own since she’s dealing with a very male-oriented racing sport. She’s focused, more than a bit stubborn, and a champion in the making – so what if some think she’s a diva, she’s actually a strong woman who is completely focused on her end goals.
Massimo. While I always fall a bit in love with heroes, Massimo is… simply amazing. I loved watching him slowly, determinedly breaking down Lorelai’s walls and showing her what they could have together should she take that risk.
Without giving away spoilers I can’t really say how I felt about parts of the ending of Wreckless. I understood it… but was left wondering if one decision was the best choice, but then since there are more stories to come in this series, one day I’ll find out. Regardless of that one question in my mind, I absolutely loved being in this world and cannot wait to return for the next story. If you love a romance with strong characters, obstacles to overcome, and determined people then the Moto Grand Prix series and Massimo’s and Lorelai’s story would be perfect for you.
Although I’ll always recommend reading a series from the start if at all possible, I really believe the way that this world is developing that reading in order will give you a better overview of the entire series (I also understand that isn’t always a choice, so you do what’s best for you) yet you can pick this one up and read it without feeling lost or wondering what’s gone on before as the important things will be mentioned in dialogue or narrative.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Wreckless was such a good read! It had action, tension, heat, angst, and everything in between! I loved how high the stakes were all throughout the book so that we were kept at the edge of our seats until the end. Katie Golding is an incredible author, her prose is beautiful, and I love how she integrated Italian words and accents through the book to add another level of realism. This is extremely subjective, but there were a lot of technical scenes related to moto racing, which weren't necessarily my cup of tea, but if you loved the action-packed racing scenes in Fearless, then you will absolutely love this book! I also thought there were moments where the dynamics between the two love interests (two competing moto racers) were unclear. They were in love, then mad at each other, then ignoring each other, and I was often confused as to why their relationship was variating this much from day to day, especially since most problems could've been solved with a single conversation. Even so, this was an awesome story, Massimo is a sweetheart and owns my heart, Lorelai is a badass bitch who deserves all the love in the world, and I'm excited to read the third installment in this series!
This is the first book I've read by Katie Golding. I chose it because of the cover and the blurb. I love watching the Supercross, Outdoor Nationals, and American Flat Track racing. I thought that this might be similar. HA. I did learn some about Moto GP though. I'll even look it up to watch and see if I catch the sports bike racing bug.
As a woman rider, I loved this book. Lorelai was smart, strong, and fearless. But human, real. She struggled as well. As I was reading this book, I wanted to be her. Massimo was loyal and true. I wanted to kick him a few times, but he redeemed himself over and over. I loved how strong family ties were for both characters. I was so invested in their story, I was having trouble putting the book down when needed. The author evoked many emotions. The way she ended the book. GAHHHHH. It was great! Anytime I'm so invested in a book, I give it a five star rating. I saw this was book two of a series and have bought book one to catch up with the series. I look forward to the next book as well.
*Thank you Netgalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Katie Golding for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review
Wreckless (Moto Grand Prix #2). By Katie Golding. 2021. Sourcebooks Casablanca (ARC eBook).
Two long-time rivals on the professional moto circuit enter the next phase of their careers as they try to reconcile their complex emotions for each other in this enemies-to-lovers sports romance. After Fearless (Moto Grand Prix #1), I was wanting to read the next book even though going in I wasn’t sure if I would care much for Lorelai. Lorelai is driven and reckless in her desire to win and prove herself. While Massimo has to win in order to save his family from ruin. There is chemistry and emotion and some family; although it is Massimo’s family and friend who get more time. The stuff concerning the friend was awkward, but there is complexity to the characters that can be appreciated. Overall, I liked Wreckless quite a bit. It will be interesting to see if Mason’s story will be all moto or a mix with rodeo like Billy and Taryn’s was.
The second book in this series serves up even more adrenaline than the first. Katie Golding’s writing makes you feel like you’re in the stands at the races and I’ve gotta say, it scares the shit out of me. I kind of want to look it up on the internet so I can see how these moto racers practically get horizontal on their bikes, but I don’t know if I have the guts to actually watch it in real life.
It’s an excellent backdrop for the turbulent childhood-enemies-to-lovers romance that is the main focus. I love Massimo’s I’m-just-gonna-lay-it-all-out-on-the-line attitude change even as Lorelei is more cautious about admitting her feelings. Factor in having to race against someone you care about and you’ve got plenty of angst.
I appreciated that Katie Golding doesn’t let her character’s pride get in the way of resolving a problem. This was true in the first book as well, where one character offered a solution and instead of declining the help out of pride, the second character humbly accepted it and voila! Problem solved. In general, I noticed that KG doesn’t add excessive drama where it isn’t needed.
Really excited to move on to the latest in this series.
Trigger warning: graphic description of motorcycle accident - Told in two POVs, WRECKLESS follows professional motorcycle racers Massimo and Lorelai. After a terrible accident, Lorelai’s confidence has taken a major hit and Massimo sets aside their rivalry to remind her that nothing can stop her. After spending 10 years as rivals, they’re finally ready to admit their true feelings, even if it costs them everything. - I love a good rivals to lovers story and I knew from chapter 1 that this was going to be a thrilling read. The racing left me breathless! It was so intense. Each race, I was at the edge of my seat waiting to find out where they placed. This is a long book— 416 pages— so I was worried that it would lose its appeal, but oh, I needed to know how it would end for Massimo and Lorelai! If you enjoy rivals to lovers and intense competition, you’ll love those two— they’re hot heads who are so undeniably hot for each other. - 4/5 stars, WRECKLESS by Katie Golding is available May 25, 2021! - Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for sending me an eARC to review!
This book had me from the first chapter ... I couldn't put it down. I love Lorelai and Massimo! Their love / hate relationship has been going on for 10 years (since they were 15 years old). Massimo riles her up every single race and she take the bait ... every single time. And Massimo ... who wouldn't love a hunk speaking Italian to you? It doesn't even matter if you don't know what he's saying ... lol. Massimo's story broke my heart ... taking his family's problems on his shoulders at such a young age. I loved the banter between the characters ... they would get up in each other's face. Just like what happens in real life ... not everyone gets along. I also liked how Ms Golding put in the race ranking after each race. I don't know anything about the sport, but she made me feel like I was actually watching the race. I can't wait for Mason's story, as he's up next! This is a great series and I highly recommend it.
I received an early copy courtesy of Sourcebooks Casablanca through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
More like 3.5 stars…I’m a bit on the fence with this one, but decided to give it 4 stars overall since I did enjoy seeing Lorelei and Massimo’s relationship come together. I just had a couple of issues with this book. -Massimo’s relationship with Chiara. While not explicitly shared and apparently ‘justified,’ it just didn’t sit well for me that they’re best friends who slept together and it’s somehow all platonic? And Lorelei is supposed to be okay with it? Oh and the fact that they were living together and Massimo hid that from Lorelei? -Lorelei’s move to Women’s MotoPro. After everything she went through breaking the glass ceiling into MotoPro and competing with men, going into women’s MotoPro seems like a huge step back for me. She was such a badass in the beginning then turned into a bit of a doormat heroine towards the end. I don’t know if we’ll see Massimo and Lorelei’s story continue/resolve in the next book, but it would be nice to have more closure. That cliffhanger with not knowing who won though 😕

A full throttle adrenaline rush from the first page to the last! I was blown away with how awesome this story was from well crafted characters that reacted realistically and developed as the storyline progressed to a story that kept me fully engaged and eager for more.
I’m not sure who I loved more, Lorelei or Massimo! I adored them together whether they were fighting, competing or falling in love they were two characters who were perfectly balanced making each one stronger and better.
Prior to this book I’ve not had much more than a minimal awareness of motorcycle racing at any level, but the author was able to bring this sport to life within this story and made it exciting. I will definitely recommend going back to read Billy and Taryn’s story, and eagerly look forward to Mason and Chiara’s book.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and the author, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Instantly intrigued by the blurb, I jumped at the chance to read WRECKLESS. I missed the fact that this was book 2 in the Moto Grand Prix series, so I was a little lost there in the beginning. But thankfully as the story picked up, I was able to figure things out without any problem. Unfortunately, I overestimated my interest in the motorcycle racing world, because I soon found myself skimming through these parts to get to the interactions between Massimo and Lorelai. I enjoyed their bickering and banter, but I would have loved to see their connection developed a bit more. I think that all the details related to the racing just made it hard for me to get invested in their relationship. IDK, I wanted to see more of them together, I think they had great chemistry and a deeper bond than what made it to the page.
All in all, an okay read for me that left me wanting more of the romance and less of the motorcycle racing.
Massimo and Lorelai have been competing on the professional moto circuit for years. Their story is told in their alternating voices. Lorina is driven to win and Massimo has to win. Lorelai has a lot to prove being one of the only women competing at this level. She has a love hate relationship with Massimo. Early on, the fact that Massimo has loved Lorelai for a long time is clear, but he has to protect his sponsorship. When Lorelai suffers a serious crash she will have to learn to get back on the bike and compete at a level to stay on her team. As Massimo gets closer to his goal, he can be more open about his feelings, will Lorelai be vulnerable enough to risk a chance at love? Author does a great job with the racing descriptions as well as weaving their love story to a satisfying conclusion.
I think the sexual tension and chemistry is soooo good between Massimo and Lorelai. However, I don't really know why Massimo loves her? I feel like we are missing such a big chunk of their backstory (ten years in fact!!!) and how their fraught relationship came to be. We are thrown into this rivals to lovers trope because they are competitors which is one of my favorite trope. He gives her unsolicited advice, pushes her buttons, and has a secret financial situation, but I couldn’t correlate that to his love and hate for Lorina. I would have loved more of the competition shown between them.
No one: Massimo: 🤌🏼LllllooooOOOooorrriiIIiinnnnNNnnnnAAaaAaa🤌🏼
I enjoyed book two of this series, although perhaps not as much as book 1 with its rodeo setting! I enjoyed the Moto setting for sure, especially the rivals aspect. Each main character definitely had some great conflicts helping to drive their motivations. Unfortunately I just didn't connect as much with the romance as I would have liked--to me it felt rushed, which is sad because certain aspects have been building for a long time. But overall I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to future installments!
