Gillian has been working at the bar with Todd for a long time. Since he went out with his friends he's not been back to the bar and Gillian is getting worried. She goes over to Todd's house and finds out about shifters. Zeke ends up shifting and showing Gillian what is starting to happen to Todd. Some are born shifters and others get the virus. I loved the storyline and how Gillian went into the bedroom that Todd has been in. Todd knows that Gillian is his mate and so does his animal. When she leaves his house he thinks that she is leaving him. Love what happens when he catches up with her at her apartment. This is a short story but doesn't feel rushed. There is confusion, acceptance and finally super sexy steam. Highly recommend. I need to go back and read the beginning of this series. I've miss some great stories. This is a great short story that shows a different shifter side- where things aren’t always easy and changing is confusing and stressful. In this story, true loves wins as a group of friends learn how to cope with their new reality. As Todd makes his transition, his relationship with Jillian and his other friends are put to the ultimate test.

This was such a sweet insta-love story that actually brought tears to my eyes. Gillian and Todd were amazing characters and I am so glad I was able to be a part of their little journey. Would love to know more about them and their future.

short shifter story


A short quick read that is well written but I would love to have had longer to get to know these characters . If you like shifter romances and want a book to read in a lunch hour or dont have time for a full length novel this is perfect for you

Krysta Fox has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Gillian and Todd. Todd is out with his buddies Drew, Zeke, and Ethan, and when he remembers he left his wallet in Zeke's car he goes to get it. When he steps into the garage, he hears a woman asking for help. He walks towards the sound of her voice and when he rounds the corner, he sees a woman next to a man with a gash in his head. There are three men standing over her and the man. Todd says something to the men so they come after him to allow the couple to getaway. Todd keeps backing up to give the woman more room to leave and to keep the attention on him. One of the men comes after Todd and he sidesteps the man. About the time the man gets up Drew, Ethan, and Zeke are there to help Todd. Gillian is one of the bartenders at Todd's bar and is worried about him since he has not been to work since he went out with his friends. She goes over to his house and when she knocks on the door, Zeke answers the door. She tells him that she needs to talk to Todd and Zeke tells her that he is sick and in Quarantine. She wants to know why he, Drew, Ethan are always there. She knows something is not right and she wants the truth. Zeke asks "What happens when you don't like the truth, Gillian? What happens then?" I guess we'll find out." She never expected to see Zeke change from a man to a bear in front of her. There is a loud roar from behind her and a sound like a body hitting a door. Zeke steps in front of her and looks towards the door. She wants to know what Zeke is. He tells her that he is a shifter and that is what has happened to Todd. He is in the early stages and that is why he is there. Gillian said, "so what do we do?" Zeke asks "you want to stay here and help? I can't let you do that." Gillian looks at him and tells him that she has handled worse things at the bar. About that time Todd comes out of the room he was in and Gillian is between him and Zeke. Zeke tells her to take slow steps back towards him. She makes the mistake of looking over her shoulder at Zeke and that is when Todd grabs her and takes her back into the room he was in. Todd is acting like he is protecting Gillian and when Zeke tries to come into the room, Todd puts Gillian behind him. Todd lets out a roar and Gillian tells Zeke not to come in that Zeke won't hurt her. Gillian puts her hand on Todd and it seems to calm him down. Unknown to both Gillian and Todd, they have had feelings for each other since they met. Todd seems to think that Zeke is trying to get into the room and Todd gets upset again. She grabs him and he looks at her and she kissed him. After that things heat up between them.
Can Gillian handle the things that are happening to Todd and will they get together?
This was a wonderful short and fast read and I would recommend it to anyone.

Ethan is getting married, and a few of the guys are having a bachelor party in the hotel bar and chatting. They asked Todd about who he will bring to the wedding since his RSVP is one of the few that hadn’t come in yet, but he hinted that he may surprise them. Todd had to run out to the car to get his wallet when he remembered leaving it in the console. In the parking garage, he hears a woman scream and finds three men standing over a man on the ground and a woman against the wall. One of the guys has a huge knife, and he lunges toward Todd. Fortunately Todd, who has run his bar for years, knows how to avoid getting cut. He trips the guy and another punches him, but he hears his friends running to help him. They had to all give statements to the cops, and Todd’s head started to ache. In the morning, he gets violently sick to his stomach and he’s running a fever. He hadn’t been back to work at his bar for two weeks now, and Gillian came to check on him since she’s the one left to run the bar herself. Zeke stopped her, but a roar makes him turn and she runs past him.

By way of explanation, Zeke shifts into his bear in front of her, then shifts back. He tells her about shifters, some born shifters and some exposed like to a virus that changes them. Todd is turning into a shifter. His buddies are helping him through the process of the change. When the door behind them bangs, Gillian rushes in as the door opens. Zeke tries to get her to back away. Todd grabs her wrist, pulls her into the room, and closes the door. When Zeke tries to come in, Todd growls and Gillian turns him toward her and kisses him. He recognizes her and she sees him fighting against whatever is happening to him, still trying to protect her. But she has wanted him for so long. Will she allow him to claim her? Will he fight his protectiveness and give in to the bear trying to make her his?

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!

Ethan is getting married and having a bachelor party at the hotel so he and his friends are there to have a good time, but Todd forgot his wallet and has to return to the car for it but upon returning to the car he hears a woman begging and screaming for help and of course his protective side wouldn’t allow him to just ignore the call for help he finds a man on the ground and a woman against the wall. One of the guys have a large knife and he tries lunges toward Todd but working a bar for years provides him with an advantage of side stepping a knife coming at him, he trips the guy and of course his friend rush or try to rush him but little did they know Todd wasn’t there alone and his friends came to his rescue after giving statements to the police Todd ends up getting really sick and no one really knows why. Gillian ends up running his bar since he hasn’t returned and upon checking on him, she learns he is sick and while there she hears him roar like an animal and Zeke shifts right in front of her and realizes what he did and shifts back to his human form. After explaining shifters to her two types, one born and those exposed to virus that changes them and Todd is in the process of changing for the first time and they are there to support him. She runs past Zeke to get to Todd, but will he protect her, or will he hurt her during his change, and can they find a HEA?

Fast paced story about Todd an bar owner and Gillian his bartender who he has feelings for. At a dinner with his friends he run out to his car and interrupts an attack on a couple, during the scuffle he is somehow infected with shifter blood. The guys all being shifters know what he’s going through and are taking shifts to help him deal with his changing dna. Gillian worried about him comes to his house, Zeke is turning her away but she gets in and then to help her understand what’s happening to Todd, Zeke shifts and shows her his bear. When she goes to Todd, he e and his bear know she’s their mate and they have sex. Soon both confess their love and Todd proposes.
Would have liked an explanation of Todd’s infection, it’s mentioned Zeke was bleeding from scuffle and you have to assume that contact to it is what caused his change.

This is the forth book in the series, but the first one I have read and I will be reading the others. Todd is changing and he is struggling with his inter beast, but he has several good friends to help him through. Gillian arrived in town hoping for a new start, she did not expect to find someone to made her heart beat faster. Concerned about Todd, Gillian went to check in on him, what she found not surprises her but brought her closer to him.

I enjoyed this short fast and very hot story, I loved how Todd's friends rallied around to not only help Todd but also Gillian. Gillian was amazing, when Todd thought she was leaving, she was just get prepped to help him out. Love this story and this series.

First Todd rescues someone in a parking lot and then Gillian rescues him, in a way.

A quick beautiful story about Todd and Gillian, co-workers at his bar. Both secretly in love with each other. He disappears for a while and she is really worried so she goes to his place. His friend Zeke is there and tries to keep her out of the house as loud growls come from inside. Surprises and twists bond Todd and Gillian as they confront each other alone and she calms him. The romance skyrockets with intense feelings and emotions. The characters are all strong and determined, which gives a great base to build on for such situations. The ending is perfect and heartwarming.

After a celebration in Starlight City with his friends Todd becomes ill and they they keep him confined as he recovers. Gillian has been managing the bar on her own since Todd's trip to Starlight City and she is determined to find out what is going on. When she arrives at Todd's house she is surprised to find his friend Zeke there and reluctant to let her in. She wants the truth but Zeke asks her can she deal with it and as they talk strange noises come from the back bedroom.

Todd is out with his buddies when something happens to change his life. Gillian works with Todd and when he doesn't show for work she is concerned for him. His friends try to keep her away saying he is in quarantine but she wasn't having it. Once inside its not long before Todd makes an appearance and then Gillian knows what's going on. Will Gillian stay with Todd? Can they be together?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is the fourth book in The Surprise Shifters series, fast-paced and quick to read. Gillian has worked for Todd for a while now and has never mentioned the crush she has on her boss, now he's disappeared for a while and she's determined to find out if he's ok. After learning he's now a shifter and is still learning the ropes, she wants to be there for him. He's incredibly protective and wants to be her mate. Plenty of sizzling chemistry between them, sweet story. Wonderful HEA.

This is a very short story about shifters and finding their mates. This one is about Todd who becomes a bear shifter. It isn't completely described as to how exactly he became a shifter in the beginning, but I have an idea. I really don't want to give much away because it is so short, but basically, this is about Todd who makes Gillian his mate after he first shifts. There is more to the story but I would ruin it then. It is a quick and easy read with just enough steam.

Love how she didn't question their connection or what was happening around her, she just took the information and rolled with it. I loved how he wasn't willing to let her go and he took that step to make sure she was staying. Steamy read!

Gillian has had a crush on her boss Todd for awhile not realizing that he liked her too. After finding out that Todd is now a shifter and that she is his fated mate things are changing for them. Unexpected Curves is a fast paced read about fated mates. The writing is well done, the characters are likable and the storyline is great. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
