When I told off an arrogant jerk, I didn’t realize two simple words would be life changing. Now I’m discovering creatures I thought only existed in books and movies are real.
And I’m mated to one…all because I told him to bite me.
In my defense, she said, no, demanded, I do it. I was hungry and she smelled delicious. I was powerless to resist, not that I tried to for more than a couple seconds.
We may have started off on the wrong fang, but I’ll prove that I couldn’t be more right.
Warning: A paranormal rom-com? Oh yeah, it’s happening.
Bite Me is book one in the Mates and Mischief series by Haven Rose. This is my first book by Haven. This is a light hearted, short, vampire rom-com.
Daisy Moreley isn’t happy at her current job and has been applying without success at other companies. She lives with her sister and has a huge addiction to coffee.
Clay Hoyt is a vampire. This was a cute take on the vampire world. Every vampire has what is called their heartmate. They are not able to ever be with a woman until they meet “the one!” If they are ever lucky enough to actually find her that is. Clay isn’t really interested in meeting his heartmate. He has a company to run. People depend on him. He’s a busy man. They are getting ready to interview some prospects for new hires when one folder beckons to him. He becomes obsessed with the smell associated with the applicant that sent it in. And when she shows up for her interview, it’s all over. Especially when she says “bite me” which she may have intended in another way but it’s all he needs, permission to make her his.
While I love an OTT silly little story, this one was just okay for me. It was cute and I enjoyed the whole heartmate thing. But I never really connected with either of the characters. I guess I needed it to be a little more romantic. Still, it was a fun little story perfect for an afternoon escape. I’ll definitely check through some of this author’s other work to see what she’s done.
Such a cute little story! My belief is, where dated mates are concerned, they should/can only be with each other! That’s always been my stance. Haven Rose gave us that! A vampire who can only be with his mate!! (And yes, thankfully his new love is a virgin as well!!
-no cheating -a smidge of pushing away -dual virgins -epilogues 2 and 17 years later 😍
Ms. Rose is a new author to me and I confess that I was skeptical about the book. However, I was happily surprised at how much fun this vampire rom-com novella was to read. It was a light and fun read for an afternoon.
I really liked this one. It was cute, quick and funny. Haven Rose does paranormal good. Fated mates, each others one and only, no abuse, no cheating, epilogues at 2 & 17 years. Great set up for future stories I can't wait to get my hands on.
This was my first book from this author but it’s definitely not going to be the last! I highly enjoyed her style of writing and sense of humour! Cannot wait to read more of her work!
I just could not get into this. He is not nice, too cocky, they literally can't even carry on a normal conversation. He bites her without her knowledge of what he is, doesn't know vampires exist or what he essentially is doing to her. But in the end he is her husband now so they my as well get together. I just couldn't. He didn't even want to find a mate, developed something so he couldn't scent his mate.

A fresh new take on paranormal romance. Queue, fun, sexy, spicy but also heart warming. Really liked the fact there wasn't ex gf, ex bf drama. Would certainly buy other books by this author.
This was a vampire lite rom-com. Clay is a vampire who is a self proclaimed asshole. He hates everyone and just wants to be left alone to run his company. He doesn’t want a heartmate, even though his mother badgers him to find his one. He goes as far as to invent a device that blocks the smell of your heartmate. Daisy is a young woman who loves coffee and stops one morning to get her favorite drink, she’s surprised when a guy cuts in front of her in line. Then he does it again the next day, she lets him have a verbal lashing for it, and he lashes back. This starts their week long battle and flirting in the coffee shop. Neither can stop thinking of the other over the weekend, but before they can see each other the next day, Daisy gets a call for a job interview, she skips getting coffee and heads into work. She hates her boss and is glad for her upcoming interview. Clay is in a crappier than normal mood since he did not see his coffee shop girl that morning. His admin gives him a stack of resumes and all of a sudden he goes crazy because he smells his heartmates scent on one of the resumes. He finds it in the stack, it belongs to a woman named Daisy. When they finally meet he tells her he owns the company and she now works for him, she tells him off by saying “bite me”, he’s a vampire, so he does. She faints and doesn’t come to till the next morning. His whole family is there when she wakes, his mom explains their origin story. When Clay figures out his mom tampered with his device he tells her she forced his fate and he didn’twant a mate. Hearing that, Daisy leaves, but has to return for her purse. He apologizes and drives her home. After a bit she comes outside, he’s been sitting in his car the whole time watching her house. She bites him and they go to his house to complete their bond. I love yous are said and they live happily eternally ever after. Epilogues at two years with a baby boy and seventeen years with a daughter.

And the main characters in this short book. I often seem out novels in in this genre that are softer as a personal preference, however with this book I find myself wishing it were longer. Not only did I enjoy Clay and Daisy's characters as the main couple, but I liked every single supporting character mentioned, and the to the nature of this being a vampire, human, and shifter mate would , their are many details that need to be explained to make those 3 inclusive and set up a general base of rules for them all to follow as each new story comes out, which is where I found myself confused at times because of it short length, I had to make some storyline assumptions which being that some how each character has endeared themselves to my, left me feeling like I was missing out (Slight spoilers below) Like I loved the idea of the h's sister finding her mate in Gage ( a shifter) and feel like maybe their story has been written already but now have to search... Etc...) Anyway to the author Haven Rose, I LOVE where you seem to be going with these story lines and am excited for more! This particular world building your doing having vampires shifters humans and winches all together but with a levity as to not not down the intermingling of these paranormal species with too much drama and prejudice they often come with when combined is REALLY awesome to be able to read and fresh, so yea, 👏 I'm very much looking forward to more!
First things first; I really like the cover of this book! Bite me is the first book in the ‘’mates and mischief’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Clay is a vampire that has gone to great lengths to stop himself finding his mate. When he meets Daisy it isn’t long until the sassy human is his mate. Will Daisy and Clay find love? The chemistry between Daisy and Clay is clear to see and I loved them together. I loved how feisty and sassy Daisy was. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.
This had be laughing from start to finish! Clay and Daisy are feisty when it comes to their coffee but Clay is so sure of himself, I love that his mum manages to out maneuver him. Whilst Clay is a little difficult to like (until he mates) Daisy is sassy, funny and a delight to know, opposites do attract and they really are perfect for each other! A sweet novella, this is literally a half hour read, but it is available on Kindle Unlimited, which is a bonus. I am hoping we get Tabby and Gage's story in the future and I cannot wait for Meyer and Geoffrey to find their mate too, please, please, please tell me they will be later in the series?
Such a lovely story! This is the story of Clay, a grumpy vampire and Daisy, his human mate. I loved Daisy, she was a firecracker, she gave as good as she got and Clay was simply delicious. The banter between Clay and Daisy had me in stitches, Clay's family were hilarious. Can't wait for their stories(fingers crossed). If you like your stories short, sweet and filled with humour, look no further.
Clay and Daisy are a perfect couple that might not have happened if not for meddling mother. But they would have been together anyway since Fate will make it happen. It’s a fun read and can’t wait for the next couple. I highly recommend this story.
this review is for the Bite Me play by Eliana Pipes
girl, did you read my journal or transcribe my internal monologue or something?!?! it is SCARY how much i relate to melody and this experience. actually terrifying. some of these lines are from my mind/memory, verbatim.
anyways great job can’t wait to do a scene (or tbh several) from this play 💘💘💘
Love it loved it loved it!!!!! OMG what a great start to a new series. I can’t wait to read Tabby and Gage’s story as well as Meyers and Geoffreys as well. Plus maybe a second generation with the kids.
Vampires HEA Dual virgins Epilogues I enjoyed bite me it was a fun quick read. You have the vampire who didn’t want to find love and an unsuspecting human. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
I love this book and have read it a few times already . I love the characters and the flow of the story . The book is also funny that it made me laugh out loud a few times .
I liked it, but Clay's change of mind was so abrupt I didn't know what was happening. Otherwise, it was good. I want to read book about Daisy's sister and that shifter she ended up with. And I'd read books about both Clay's brothers.
Good lord this was so bad. Like I had no expectations at all and I’m glad. The writing was abysmal, the sex was nasty and the vampires managed to be boring and weak Confused on why I ever wanted to read this but
What a wonderful and beautiful love story! Soo much fun to read! I love Clay and Daisy, they're perfect together! Soo good,i absolutly loved it!Can't wait for what's coming next!😍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🔥🥰
