A standalone short, Sleeping Beauty in the ghostly world of the Spirit Key.
A mysterious accident lands rodeo princess, Savannah, in a coma. A Do-Not-Resuscitate order mysteriously appears at the clinic time-stamped minutes after the accident along with a signed copy of Savannah's will. It is quite evident to TooTall that someone tampered with Savannah's horse and wants the rodeo princess dead. As she clings to life in a coma, there is only one way to ask her questions before her wicked stepmother succeeds in discontinuing life support. TooTall races against death in the dream walker's realm to solve the riddle of who wants Savannah dead and why. But once he has the answers, can he figure out how to save her? A sleeping beauty fairy tale retelling.
Forever is part of a two-companion series. The Spirit Key Series- The ancients have broken the veil between the worlds and demand the land- and the bodies of those who inhabit it. There is only one hope to contain the ghosts- the Spirit Key- one foretold from ages past. One young girl ignores her destiny and the ghosts who call on her for help.
The Kiowa in Love Series- As the spirits gather around Grandfather's family, they are ignored but wiggle in the background as love finds his grandchildren.
I really enjoyed this smart, slightly magical retelling of a very well known fairy tale. R A Winter takes Snow White and puts her in a contemporary western with a dash of rodeo and a sprinkling of Native American magic. A great new angle on an old favourite.
An exceptionally written fairy tale retelling of Sleeping Beauty. I have read several books by this author and have loved them all - from The Spirit Key and The Kiowa in Love series to her fun, rom-com standalone Twisted and she never disappoints. She infuses sweet romance with charm and adventure, and always a snippet or two or twenty of humor. Forever bridges between 2 series centered around the Native American heritage - The Spirit Key series and The Kiowa in Love series. This particular tale gives us a breath of fresh air as Sleeping Beauty is re-imaged. The characters are familiar, but refined to the modern day life of a rodeo princess, her evil stepmother - the famed Rodeo Queen, and a hunky hero (TooTall from the two series mentioned above) who walks through the mysterious and dangerous dream world to rescue his lady love. With romance, mystery, and a supernaturally-charged story, this story has "winner" written all over it.
Forever by RA Winter is a Native American short story. This novella was a retelling of Sleeping Beauty by RA in the world of the Native American culture. My only complaint is this book was not long enough. It was fascinating and in some ways educational. I really enjoy the plot and how was put into the novella. The characters were fresh and modern. The FMC is a rodeo Princess and there is a handsome hero who decides to save her or try to by walking through the dream world to get answers. I really enjoyed this novella especially the Native American component. I can wait to read more by RA Winter.
Short and sweet. Forever is a short tale of betrayal and love. It is listed as book 3 of The Spirit Key Series but it is a stand alone. RA does an amazing job of weaving such an intriguing story in so few pages. I loved the nod to the seven dwarfs. She even manages a brief steamy scene. If you like horses, dream walking, a mystery and love at first sight you will want to treat yourself to this one.
Savannah is a rodeo rider. TooTall is dreaming walking cowboy. Vanessa is evil step mother rodeo queen. Vanessa poisoned Savannah and try’s to kill her keep her rodeo queen title. TooTall dreams walks to help Savannah and found out what happened to her. TooTall falls in love Savannah. Will TooTall and his friends find out evidence of what Vanessa has done and safe Savannah or is TooTall and Savannah love story over before it even starts.
This is a short fairy tale retelling. The synopsis says Sleeping Beauty but I think there are bits of Cinderella and Snow White on it, or is it just me? 😅
Since this one is a novella, it's pretty short and very fast paced. I enjoyed reading it. Interesting fantasy elements in it. The romance is too fast but still cute. Recommended for people who likes quick reads.👍
This story gave me a fairytale feel as I read it. It was a quick read something I was able to read on a break. Was interesting not something i normally read yet I was intrigued to finish it all. I will be looking up other books from this author.
This was a unique take on Snow White and the Sevn Dwarves. I loved the unique way Savannah and Too Tall worked together. I don't want to give up too much but it's a short read and I enjoyed it. If you like Fairy Tales with a twist, give Forever a try.
It's summertime, and a quick, sweet fairytale retelling is perfect for a day at the beach or on the lake. Get comfy with a cold glass of iced tea, and enjoy this can't-put-down love story.
This is an interesting retelling, which seems to be a twist on both Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
I really enjoyed reading this. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The characters and story immediately jumped off the page, and can't wait to dive into more from this author.
This was a short and sweet story. It was a quick read for after work. It really did read as a retelling of a fairytale with Native American culture. This was the first story in the series I read and I will be going back and reading the others.
