Echohawk is a fast moving book that helps the reader understand the intersection of the lives of American Indians and English settlers in the mid 1700's. It especially shows the uncertain life of American Indians due to colonial settlers. I wish Echohawk's vision was made more clear.
I adore this book. It was one of my favorites when I was a pre-teen, and reading it again was an awesome trip down Memory Lane for me. It's still just as good as I remember - if not better. As an adult, I truly appreciate the detail that Durrant puts into this book. I also appreciated that she listed her sources in the back - I'm interested in doing some research of my own now. I really, really can't say enough good things about this fantastic novel. It's a short read, so what are you waiting for? Get it now!
