Meng Hao had reached the top of the echelon amongst his Immortal peers, both figuratively and literally. No one short of a Dao Lord could withstand his might, as the Son of the Mountains and Seas, the only Allheaven Dao Immortal since the most ancient of times. His Paragon Bridge in particular had become a truly supreme art - but such power often comes at a terrible price, and in this case, it had been paid by Chu Yuyan, the only person who he owed a debt which he had never been able to repay.
Her soul was lost to the Ninth Mountain, had been stolen by some vile fool in the Eighth. Very well, then. It was past time for him to pay a visit to the Eighth Mountain and Sea, where his mother's clan, the Meng clan which was his namesake, was established. But events would quickly begin to spiral out of control. It was no longer just one soul he cherished that was in danger - soon, Meng Hao would discover, it was all of them. The Nine Mountains and Seas were in grave danger. The threat of the Thirty-Three Heavens that had oppressed the Mountain and Sea Realm for so long was finally descending upon them, and no Immortal could stand in their path.
But perhaps, a Demon Sealer who was also a Demon could.

Er Gen is a platinum author on Qidian who used his love for classical chinese myths as a foundation on which to build his webnovels. He has become a pillar of the xianxia genre, and his flagship novel, Renegade Immortal, placed within the top ranks of Qidian’s monthly recommendation charts for many months.
I really wanted to give this one a 5 star rating but there were a few things that took away from the story. Overall this was an amazing continuation and so far the storyline still has that spark to it; however, the ending felt abit rushed and the MC’s power-ups felt more ‘shallow’ than usual… more as a plot convenience than from profound enlightenment as shown in the first few books. This is still an entertaining series and I can’t wait for the finale.
The first half of this book was excellent. Sadly I very-much disliked the chapters devoted to the Allheaven's attempt to gas-light Meng Hao into believing a false reality. In addition, the betrayal by his long-time cultivation brother was completely out of character.
On top of this, the brutal revenge taken on the entire 33 Heavens seemed far from just. It had been 2000 years since the fall of the Mountain and Sea Realm but not one soul in the 33 Heavens was found innocent of those crimes. Their never-ending punishment would be gratifying to torturers everywhere.
Perhaps this is a cultural thing. Maybe the author would advocate for the death of every Japanese person, young and old, for the atrocities of the second Sino-Japanese War. That's an equivalent moral position to this story.
Like all the other books of Er Gen, it's amazing. The plot, character developments, the world,...
The only thing that sort of put me off was the fact that he was CONSTANTLY thinking about his love. At some point it gets tedious BUT overall it's a good read, especially if you love cultivation novels.
Of course if you love the whole soulmate/romance thing then this book is for you.
Starts off a bit slow, but still decent..and then books 3-9 are absolutely phenomenal. I wasn' a fan of Book 10 as it suffers from the tepid melancholic finish typical of Er Gen books, but still one of the best in the genre.
Deathblade does a stellar job with the English translation too!
Loved the entire series! Anyone who is looking for a good story with plenty of character development and really good plot, I'd say this series is really good! Love Er Gen for the great time I had reading the series and for Death Blade for translating this series to English.
An interesting but irksome addition to the series.
Truthfully this book solidified the series as a one-time read. The length of the series is extremely long for each book. And I enjoy such stories for the most part. What is so great is having something that you can come back to and read multiple times unfortunately this series really isn't like that. The momentum started out pretty good for the first couple books until you realize that each book is the same book just told in a little different ways. That is to say our main hero learns amazing abilities while building this cultivation and going through consistent try succeed cycles as he fights against powerful people with a few failures sprinkled in to encourage growth. Then the book at some point will go through a few different stories or plots. The next book The sees very little of his previous skills needed as he once again learns new abilities and builds his cultivation and repeats the process. I feel that if the story was written tighter and having the main character build upon his strength so that felt like it was a consistent connection throughout the books it would have been a easy reread. Unfortunately too much is ignored or forgotten even the magic systems and rules of space tend to get blurry and do only what the author wants them to do at the time rather than stay consistent.
There is a lot to enjoy about the series and this book was pretty good and was standard for the most part until it became obvious the author was wanting to get to the last book and needed the character to be in a certain position and to be faced in certain obstacles. Little things that had been built in the background pumped up but at the same time it felt as if the author had been juggling a lot of things and decided to let all the balls drop at once and only keep certain aspects that he wanted to. The idea of making it up as it goes along comes to mind. Where it felt as if they was a bit of structure suddenly there was almost a seat of pants type writing style that didn't really mix well.
The romantic plot in which has been emotional heart talking moments in previous books had been build up to the point of being sort of a focus. When it came to the two people meeting back up it was very blase in a sense of it was appreciated for about a page and 1700 pages then the characters basically was like oh well we have responsibilities. It left kind of a bittersweet what the heck situation going on.
I give this a three star because it was entertaining and the author did keep the pace going. Unfortunately there's really no time after 70% of the book has come that you get to reset relax and figure out what's going on. It gets confusing as the author sprints to his desired end throwing things out of the blue as deus ex machina becomes the modus operandi. The lack of setup really does bring the story down. I have put a lot of stories as three stars but many of them are very much rereadables this is not.
The language remains crash at times to the point that I do think the story itself is for young adults and above. If you like cultivation novels this might be for you but if you're just getting your toes into the world this is not a series to jump into. As it can take several days if you're a slow reader to finish a single book and nothing is really coherent or connected fully from previous books.
You don't want to see what I felt was the most annoying part of this book is how much the author broke certain rules they seem to have set up throughout certain abilities that would nullify the situation and ignore consistency for the sake of making something seem awesome.
This book was just awesome. I can't even come up with words to describe it. It has a war that makes the stakes feel real. Almost every big battles feels like it could go either way and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Just an absolute awesome book!
This is a copypasted review that regards the entire series. Be warned, because I Shall Seal the heavens is millions of words long, approximately 4 times the length of the Bible. The story of I Shall Seal the Heavens is crazy to those unfamiliar with the magic systems this genre uses.
It's pretty good. I give it a pass. Some parts toward the end involving The Big Bad Guy of the series are really weird, but everything else is great and I read through it just fine. Not much I can say about a 3-million-word-long story that I read several years ago.
Now this is a cultivation novel worthy of the name. I was hooked from the very first page all the way to the last page. Time to see what the author has in store next.
This strong books are obviously of a foreign nature to what I grew up reading. It takes you into a whole new realm of what it's. Taking the foreigners of the books you get caught up in the whole story. I cried and laughed numerous times throughout the whole series.
