Pandemic story about some friendly raccoons looking for a gift for their friend. They are sad for her because she can’t come out. They find the perfect gift.
This is a wonderful book about racoons who are wondering why the humans are not able to come out during the pandemic. The mama raccoon explains what is happening and after witnessing the sadness that the little girl had of not being able to do the things she once loved, decided to cheer her up by bringing her special things and it made her so happy. It's the little rays of hope and sunshine that we find from sources sometimes least expected that keeps us going. This book teaches us not to lose hope and find gratitude in the little things. Wonderful book with great illustrations as well.
It's a lovely book telling about caring and supporting each other. The story is told through the relationship between a girl who cannot go outside her room which is related to the current pandemic and the animals who are her friends and want to see her smile again. The illustrations are pretty good. The children will learn to be generous and kind from this book. Recommended to little children!
This is a cute book that reminds young readers we have to take care of each other and make sure our friends and family are ok! This story show the lockdown from another point of view. The love that the animals showed the main character was touching. It’s a great lesson for humans.
A beautiful picture book reflecting on life during the pandemic. Many children suffered physically and emotionally from the isolation.
In this tale, animals observe a little girl's distress and try to relieve her suffering. They bring her gifts and leave them outside her window. Pretty stockings, bouncing balls, and maracas lift her spirits.
In this tale, the animals turn the tables and share their kindness with humans. The illustrations are sweet and the message is friends take care of one another.
Simple text, vocabulary, and illustrations make the story appropriate for toddlers, preschoolers, and older children.
This is a simple and sweet story told from the perspective of a raccoon. He learns that the humans are sick and cannot come out. But this one little girl still comes out to give food to the animals. Each of the animals are surprising with a gift. The raccoon searches for a gift too with the help of his mom.
What a sweet, comforting story that so many readers can relate to, especially during these periods of isolation and social distancing. The illustrations are so lovely. I especially love the way the author/illustrator portrays the raccoons in her art. The book also expresses thoughtful messages about friendship, sharing, and togetherness.
This is a quiet, reflective story that approaches a difficult time in a soft and accessible way for children. The illustrations are expressive and help carry the emotional tone without being overwhelming. A thoughtful read that can open simple conversations about care and connection.
It’s a heartwarming tale of friendship during the pandemics. I feel like everyone needs a friend like little raccoon and the animals. They just know how to make you smile in the time of distress.
A short, but very sweet story of friendship and kindness. Little random acts of kindness, getting others through something that they cannot understand. It’s definitely something we need more of.
A simple but nicely told story that might provide some comfort to kids experiencing quarantine with charming watercolor illustrations from Carolyn Watson Dubisch!
5🦝🦝🦝🦝🦝 The Gift from little raccoon Such a cute story...it brought up several conversations with the kids about how we dealt with pandemic. They loved all the little gifts the animals brought
A beautifully illustrated heart-warming tale of friendship!
Oh, how I loved reading this touching tale about kind-hearted animals who bring gifts to a little girl to cheer her up as she goes through the pandemic. I wasn’t sure I wanted to read a book about a raccoon as raccoons seem to be the most horrible of animals, apart from snakes, but I was delightfully surprised that this raccoon was so endearing. Two of the lessons we learn are that good friends, even strangers, will go out of their way to support a person in need, and that we should set aside our biases as love comes from the most unexpected of quarters. There is also a lesson of encouragement. We are never alone; God will send us love and support, so we should never give up. This is a story to be enjoyed by all age groups.
I love this little book because it's filled with love. Because of the pandemic, this sweet little girl must stay inside. She is sad and only comes out to feed her birds and animal friends. See how they love her and want to bring a smile to her face! They want to make her happy again! This sweet story is perfect for the time we are living in and is sure to bring a smile to children's faces. It teaches the lesson that friends take care of each other. It also encourage love for animals. I highly recommend.
This is a kind story about a little raccoon who is trying to make a young girl going through the pandemic. Hopefully we can all read this in the future about what happened that will never happen again.
I love this book its a very simple yet powerful story and I loved the way that the animals are all observing the little girl as she adapts to life indoors, Avery poignant book with beautiful illustrations, which will serve as a reminder of a very unique period in our history.
