Finished this in a whole day, not disappointed at ALL. Beautiful smut and very intriguing storyline. All the characters had me invested! It has just about the right amount of angst (mind you I hate angst) but it fits! Gets a high 4.5~

Such a rollercoaster.
I feel the story was great! But I also feel some of the parts in this story were kinda confusing or weird asf , like there’s some stuff in this that I feel that weren’t explained properly especially some of the side characters , I also can’t relate to any of the characters bc obv I’m not a porn star so I wouldn’t know, but I know that the industry is really bad and the way they show it in this story it’s as if it’s not as toxic then what it is. It’s really not about the “dark side” of the porn industry. It’s more like… shaming the production of porn as a whole, regardless of how a particular company treats their sex workers.
My heart really hurt for Chang even though he deserved every bit of what he got. But damn! Beautiful art. Wish had stayed uncensored throughout the whole thing.💗

No sé por qué sentí que toda la historia tuvo una buena trama sin embargo la trama se desarrolló flojamente.

Me duele, estoy triste.

Gathering my thoughts on this manhwa has been extremely hard because I have very mixed feelings. Immediately after finishing it, I would have given it more around 4 stars, but the more I think about the choices made in this story, the more I dislike it.

I want to note that I am a gay man. I often find BL stories uncomfortable to read because they usually feature tropes and choices that are homophobic and/or fetishize gay men. I was hoping that this story would be different, and in some ways I enjoyed it, but by the end this story fell into the same pitfalls.

Things I enjoyed:
The leadup to Ed and Mcqueen finally dating. It was interesting and I liked seeing them interact and support each other.
The examination of how being in the porn industry affected Ed was well done! It raised a lot of interesting questions about accountability and existence in the public eye.
The friendships between everyone at Mcqueen's company were really sweet and I loved seeing them interact!

Things I disliked:
Chang. I hated the way in which Chang was written. I know that Chang is a villain and supposed to be hated, and I am not angry that I hated him. I am angry that he was treated as a serious contender for Ed's love even after he was blatantly horrible to Ed for the entire story, harassed him, and raped him!
On that note, the rape scene. It was unnecessary and honestly vile. The way in which it was depicted was too explicit and it seemed to be framed for the audience's gratification. This scene disgusted me and would have been enough for me not to read the story if I had known about it beforehand.
The homophobia. Why was Ed's homophobic friend treated as though his homophobic judgment of Ed was just him "looking out for" Ed? It's ok to depict homophobia as a part of coming out (or being outed, as Ed was), but to justify and defend the homophobia reveals the author's true feelings about gay individuals.
The dynamic between Ed and Mcqueen got boring after a few explicit scenes. They never switched positions, never explored, and never really communicated. They fell into the weird top-bottom dynamic which so many gay couples in media are forced into, where Mcqueen was assigned top, emotional rock and the one in control, while Ed was assigned bottom, the one who receives and submits. These roles were essentially determined the first time they had sex and never changed or were examined. This made for boring sex scenes and a boring relationship after a while.
Why was Mcqueen deciding what happened between Chang and Ed in the end? Not only does this exemplify the weird dynamic between Ed and Mcqueen where Mcqueen is always protecting and in charge, but it, again, treated Chang as a serious condender for Ed's affection AFTER HE RAPED HIM.

I would not recommend this story to anyone who sees gay men as people. I would urge all of the 4 and 5 star reviews on this story to examine the dynamics at play in your porn.

Every moment with you feels like a miracle... Like walking on water

Girl... Idk what I was expecting from vol 2 but it wasn't this. This volume put me through the fucking ringer but it was oh so good. I think this author does their stories and their characters really well. I have read 녹색전상 1 by them and I absolutely loved it too I should check if season 2 of this is out.

Walk on water gives us a variety of ugly characters. No one here can be said to be all good. They all have varying amounts of ugliness within them. Some of them choose to be better, while some... some just choose to continue wallowing in the filth

⛓💸YeonWoo - I rather liked that this volume used his Korean name more than his English one. My guy suffered so much in this volume😭.
I thought I could persevere but it turns out I just wanted to cry. I just wanted to die. I was sorry, but I hated him. I missed him but I wished I could forget him. I miss him so much

I'll say that the sex industry, specifically the filming of porn has always fascinated me. There are always two pple on the side of this one. Some who are wholly comfortable with what they do, society and pples opinions be damned - and those who do it for whatever reasons and later regret it. YeonWoo squarely falls in the 2nd group.

While filming porn did ultimately lead to his bi-sexual awakening, save him from the crushing debt and helped him find the love of his life, it also ruined his life in a way. He lost his job and would have probably continued doing dead end jobs were it not for his former boss. It just makes me think of today how porn is so easily accessible - not just in terms of watching but also making and distributing it (i.e. OnlyFans).

Idk about other people, but personally, I don't think I'd be able to survive something leaking or God forbid press coverage like in this story

🎦🎬Glenn - When I found out what he did and why the guy with the kid (I've already forgotten his name😅) hated him so much, my mouth dropped. I know that he does regret what he did and eventually apologized but idk. That was just straight up crazy
Even if one distant day it begins to feel like our love is getting rusty... Let's not forget the miraculous feeling of the moment we first decided to love each other. And let's not take each other's presence for granted just because we're right by each other's side. Let's relish in this pang of longing for each other...

Aside from his eventual apologies and what not, what I love most about him is how he loves and cherishes YeonWoo. Those parts and me 'God, when-ing' and wallowing in my utter singleness😭😭

🐍👹 - Chang Liu - I tried thinking of people/characters that I hate with the same passion as I do this asshole of a man and I came up with 2 characters: Jaekyung from Jinx and Seungho from 야화첩 1.

Not only are they straight up controlling rapists but they also don't really have any reason for acting they way that they do (not that there's ever a good reason for rape). They are just mean and cruel for vibes. That's it! I just.... *insert deep frustrated sigh here*
I should have never hoped to find any human decency in him. I should have never bothered trying to understand him

I'm sad that it took Chang raping YeonWoo for him to finally see that this man was never deserving of him. But I'm glad that he finally realized it. I do, however, wish that he completely cut Chang off - he did make a mention of them 'meeting in the future' - and that he spoke about what Chang did to him. Or rather acknowledged it out loud. But I guess how he reacted is how some rape victims act too. They just want to bury and forget all about it because not only is it so hurtful (and such a betrayal when it comes from someone you know), but also embarrassing

All in all, this was a fabulous story. If it ever got published in paperback in English, I think I'd buy it

This is my third or fourth time reading this and I think after so many times I have synthesized some thoughts on this piece.

Short version: its amazing, seriously one of the best of all time go read it.

First of all, I want to say that the overall narrative arch of this story is easy to follow while still remaining sufficiently complex to keep the reader entertained. The emotions depicted are stunning, and the artwork does a very good job at portraying New York.

***SPOILERS THOUGHtS***
The characters of Ed and McQueen were both real people with fallacies and shortcomings. Both of them made mistakes in their communication, and it was refreshing that the character flaws were so unattractive. Most authors choose character flaws that aren't really flawed because it makes their job easier. For example, many main characters in young adult novels have the flaw of being "clumsy". (Looking at you twilight)
But when these two characters' worst traits are on display and they go all out and have that fight, both of them are grad A motherfucking ASSHOLES. and it's wonderful to watch an author commit to that!

I appreciate that the author of this story chooses to show both sides of the porn industry. There are people in every industry who seek to take advantage but unfortunately, this can be more prevalent in more vulnerable industries like sex work.

Here is the rub. The whole first season Ed talks about how he just can't feel guilty about making porn. His situation is dire and he needed money. Filming a porn with two legal adults who both use protection and have been tested for STDs (a standard practice in the porn industry in U.S. is required STD testing every 14 days) is NOT A CRIME! Ed's other option is to literally work for the Mafia!
So Ed is repeatedly put in situations in the first 25 chapters where he says things like "I know I should feel guilty but I just don't."
Every step of the way he is asked "do you want to do this" and he always agrees. There are many other people around him who are also working in porn and do it as both a career and kind of a "side gig." None of them are ashamed of what they are doing.
McQueen says very clearly "I've never been ashamed to be working in porn."

BUT THEN! The second season talks about nothing but how bad porn is. As soon as Ed's porn video is viewed by co-workers and friends who shame him for it all the sudden Ed completely changes his tune. Now that he's been found out all porn is bad, he always was made to feel like shit when filming it, the whole industry is full of soul-sucking immoral parasites!!!

While Ed was working on the porn set, every person he met was friendly and courteous. All the staff was professional and worked to keep on schedule. While some of the porn actors may have made some inappropriate comments no one who was a part of McQueen entertainment treated Ed with anything but kindness and respect.
The people who treated Ed poorly and made him feel like he was "wallowing in shit" were his friends and co-workers, not his associates in porn.

Here is a PSA I just want to throw out there. Porn has been around for a very long time. As long as humans have been painting we have been depicting people having sex. Humans have historically always paid to watch people strip or perform sex shows (can can dancing for example.) I think some of the way this story is depicted is really unfair to sex workers.
If both adults are consenting, everyone is safe, all employees are working in a healthy environment and are paid a fair wage, I don't understand why the porn industry is inherently "FILTHY."
While it is said multiple times that it isn't always like that, the " Happy ending" of this story is McQueen finally admitting that porn is bad and that he is going to quit.

Rather than just giving readers some smuty scenes to enjoy and oversee the plot.. this webtoon talks so much about mutual understanding and circumstances in a couple's life. The way story proceeds gradually is adhesive and un-put-downable thing. With exact amount of smut, Probably this webtoon(Manhwa) is among the best webtoons I read till date that also has an amazing plot.

Ed(Yeowoon) who thinks himself as a straight guy, indebted because of an injury, decides to act in porn videos to gain extra income.... little did he know he will fell in love with the director and owner of that production house, McQueen.

But as always, love is not everytime a happily merry-go-round tale.... there happens to be a misunderstanding which leads to their separation... then it is described how they were living off their life without each other, whom they thought to be "perfect".

Just as they say... after every dark night their's the ray of dawn waiting... just like that, they give each other another chance and things go happening this time.... It is also said by Ed that if that phase wasn't there in their life... they would not be able to love each other this well...It toughts them a lot about each other .

True though... even if you have sweet tooth, you can't tolerate sugary delights 24×7... one do need salt to appreciate sugar(don't mind if u think this doesn't makes any sense 🤪🤪)

So.. It was a delightful read and I wanna say that if we are able to relate things with our life(not just romantic one.. but social as well), we may understands so many things for ourselves too.

4.5 stars - this was so beautiful but idk how i feel about the end >w< i would’ve happily read 50 more chapters !!

i feel like there was such a lack of resolution. the 2nd half had such a depressing and melancholy feeling to it, and i feel like we never escaped that? **SPOILER** ml got brutally raped, and Chang still got to have the possibility of a “future”, friendship or not, wigb ML? and the other ML didn’t even know about it?

also wished there was more grovelling. mostly from Creed’s side tbh. i felt like ML went through SUCH a dark and depressing time, wanting to die, having no feelings, being raped, getting fired - all these things, and Creed was just able ro live his rich life incognito while he was going through all this?

i also felt super bad for the you her dude that worked at the chinese restaurant. i understand ML may have just wanted to distance himself with the whole scene, and that’s why he said to never approach him again - but i feel like ML had more animosity/feelings of hatred towards him compared to the dude the raped him??? idk man.

again - i love this so very much and it made me cry, it was amazing written, and i read it all in one sitting - but it just felt a bit unresolved to me and i feel slightly empty <33

The end, it somehow feels bittersweet. I cannot help but to really love this work. I love that nothing is perfect, i love that they fight just like normal couples do, i love the fact that Ed got ashamed when he got outed, not because i want him to be ashamed but I think it's a normal reaction. They kept it real, and that's what i liked about this much. I think i would never understand Chang's behavior or his feelings, i couldn't imagine myself hating so much someone I love. It hurt me tho when Yeonwoo said Yui not to look for him anymore, i thought they were closer than that. But anyways, i think that's the beauty of it. I resonate with Yeonwoo with no having a dream anymore, i think he's my favorite character.

4/5 stars - enjoyed a lot.

Once I was looking for BLs that were just an honest-to-God love story, and this manhwa was pretty much all I wanted. Every time I get surprised by the amount of depth given to the story's themes in a manhwa, I know I'm in for the good time, and thinking that this story covered PORN? I'm fighting so hard to not just say "slay" but, I'm sorry, it is, simply, a "slay".

The art supports the story incredibly well and the writing couldn't have been better. This truly felt like reading a novel and I'm glad I read this until the end. The one reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it felt a little long at some point.

That shit hurted, but let’s get one thing straight Chand raped, Ed. No and if our butts, so I don’t know why the author thought it was a good thing just to sweep it under the rug and have Ed act like nothing fucking happen and it was just a transaction because he was an escort at the time.

The I love you came out of nowhere but I just decided to go with it. It was jarring reading some parts like the aftermath of the world knowing who the director was and just how much hate mans got. I mean, I wanted it to be more on the positive side hut just think that made sense.
