This is a cowboy romance suspense, and this is the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming Book series. It long me so long to get into this book. I did not care about the characters, and I also do not think the two main characters went together well. I do not think the romance or the suspense was enough to keep you pulled into the story. I did like the ending. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Forever) or author (R. C. Ryan) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Annie Dempsey has just left a toxic relationship and her need for a place to lay low and start a new life has led her to Devil’s Door, Wyoming. She’s not looking for another relationship but when a handsome stranger steps in to protect, she finds him impossible to resist. Throwing caution to the wind, Annie ignores all her own rules, especially given the fact that her new prince charming is a Merrick, part of the very family who has been estranged enemies of her own family for years.

Jonah Merrick doesn’t care that Annie is a Dempsey, he’s still determined to keep her safe. She also stirs wholly unfamiliar feelings in him. Despite his family’s apprehensions, Jonah brings Annie to stay at the family ranch to keep her safe from the villain’s pursuing her. As her stay lengthens, Jonah realizes he’ll do anything to keep Annie by his side, permanently.

This book was simultaneously sweet and suspenseful, and the pacing was just right to hold my attention. Annie had to grow on me a bit, but anything she did that I found annoying was easy to brush off since she was in a highly stressful situation herself. Quiet, slightly broody Jonah made for an interesting hero, and I loved his combination of tough, capable rancher, and introverted mystery writer. His chivalry and protectiveness, as well as his openness with Annie about his feelings made him a real winner as a hero for me. I was a little bit annoyed by the way the final climactic/actiony scenes were handled and especially the control-freak federal agent who had, in my opinion, way too much page time and caused an unwarranted separation between the MCs that disturbed the story’s flow. I think this scene and the one following it could’ve been handled in a way that allowed the hero to really shine and provided some really satisfying romantic declarations, so it felt like a missed opportunity and when those declarations did come, it felt a bit anticlimactic. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story and was thoroughly charmed by the Merrick family and their close-knit dialogue, and I was delighted to see a satisfactory resolution for Liz and Chet as well.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

Suspenseful, appealing, and sweet!

Meant to Be My Cowboy is a warm, lighthearted tale that takes you back to Devil’s Door, Wyoming, and into the lives of Annie Dempsey, a young woman on the run from her dangerous ex who isn’t content to just let her flee with all his secrets, and the reliable, attentive, Jonah Merrick who’s willing to do whatever it takes to protect this newcomer who has stolen his heart even if she is a member of the detested Dempsey family.

The prose is crisp and tight. The characters are intriguing, multilayered, and persistent. And the plot is an enticing mix of family, friendship, danger, drama, instant attraction, sizzling chemistry, smouldering tension, and delicious heat.

Overall, Meant to Be My Cowboy is a passionate, sinister, entertaining tale by Ryan that has all the elements you look for in a western, romantic suspense novel, and even though it’s the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming series, it is more than enjoyable as a standalone novel.

Thank you to Forever & Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

One last ride through Wyoming with the Merrick family, and whew, what a ride it was! This series has been action-packed from the get-go and although this one had a slower start, it was still edge-of-your-seat reading combined with heart-pounding romance and that 100% works for me.

Jonah and Annie are from families on either side of a feud, giving them Romeo and Juliet feels, and I have to admit, it threw a spanner in the works when it came to my predictions for the end. It surprised me—and I couldn't be happier about that. Sure, guessing is fun and guessing correctly is good for the ego, but IDK, give me unpredictability any day.

As always, the warmth and tight-knit feel of the Merrick household adds to the overall atmosphere of the book, making it welcoming and feel good even when there's drama and bad guys and life threatening situations. I would seriously love to be a member of the Merrick family—and not just for the deliciously described meals.

Sad that this is the end of the Wranglers of Wyoming series, but it was a rewarding way to say goodbye and I can't wait to see what R.C. Ryan has in store next.

Meant to Be My Cowboy by RC Ryan is the third book in the Wranglers of Wyoming. The Wranglers are the hot, hot Merrick brothers. The setting of the book is Devil's Door, Wyoming. This novel is about Jonah, the youngest of the brothers.

Jonah is willing to pitch in and complete chores on the ranch with all the others, but his main calling is that of a writer, a best selling writer. He has built himself a cabin out in the wild of the family’s ranch. He is quite surprised to find a hiker at his cabin one day, a beautiful woman named Annie Dempsey (not that he knows her last name for a good part of the book). Jonah and Annie both love hiking and spending time together, but soon Annie’s past comes calling and Jonah jumps in to help her. Soon the entire Merrick clan is helping out and Annie’s position gets even more sticky.

I think the novel had some really good sections. I enjoyed some parts of the novel and felt the suspense was just right. However, I didn’t really feel all the characters, especially Annie. Meant to Be My Cowboy by RC Ryan was a suspenseful romance.

Meant to Be My Cowboy is the third novel in R.C. Ryan's Wranglers of Wyoming series, a series I've been following from the outset, and it's a series which has been consistently well-written, sexy, suspenseful and entertaining, and once again I find myself giving this third book in the series a 4-star rating.

Jonah is the youngest Merrick brother, and, in addition to working on the huge Merrick family ranch, he's also a bestselling and elusive mystery writer, preferring ranch work and his privacy to going on book tours, radio or television to promote his books, and his anonymity keeps him in a constant battle with his literary agent.

The Merrick family has been feuding with the nearby Dempsey family for decades, and so when Jonah spots Annie (no last name yet) at the local watering hole one Friday night, he's drawn to her beauty immediately, but he merely looks on as every single cowboy in the place swarms her. The next day, after his ranching chores, he heads for his writing retreat, a cabin in the woods he built himself, when along comes Annie, on foot, who assumes she's hiking on public rather than private land. She's recently relocated to town, and Jonah decides to hike alongside her, and the two become fast friends and hiking buddies.

Unbeknownst to Jonah, Annie is in hiding, and it takes Jonah arriving at her rented apartment over the hair salon in town to discover that she's in danger--and for her own safety, he convinces her to move to his large and heavily populated family ranch, where they soon learn that she's the niece of Des Dempsey, who owns the town bank, and who, along with Jonah's father, have been avoiding each other for years. Annie, like the rest of her family, also went into banking, and when she discovered that the man she'd been seeing had stolen a million dollars from one of her clients and deposited it in a separate bank account under Annie's name, making her the fall gal for his crime, she can't leave San Francisco fast enough. It's an excellent set-up for a novel of romantic suspense.

While the Merrick's use their connections to help clear Annie's name and reputation, she and Jonah move from being mere hiking and horse-riding buddies to something a lot more serious, and yes, there is some steam in this novel, but it's not over the top at all.

My only issue with this novel, and the reason for its 4-star rather than a 5-star rating is the pacing, and needless repetition about the reasons for the family feud. This novel is very slow to get moving, and if you've not read the two previous novels in this series, the sheer amount of characters living and working on the Merrick ranch will probably confuse you. Additionally, the multitude of hikes in the hills and the constant discussions about the beauty of the wild mustangs they repeatedly spot, as well as the Merrick's repeatedly having dessert and coffee on their porch to enjoy the sunsets over the Grand Tetons, all just seemed like a lot of unnecessary padding for a page count to this reader.

As Jonah, his family, and their friends in law enforcement try to clear Annie of any wrongdoing, the tension and suspense finally speed up into a dangerous and suspenseful climax , and yes, as expected, there's an HEA ending to this novel, and despite what felt like a slow start and unnecessary padding, this novel was still both an enjoyable and suspenseful read.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Annie Dempsey moves to a small town in Wyoming. She fears she is being framed for a crime she didn't commit and goes to Devil's Door, Wyoming where her uncle lives.
Annie has a small apartment in town but is not safe from the problems she has run away from in San Francisco. A thug has broken into her apartment and threatened her.
Jonah Merrick is attracted to Annie but his sense of chivalry won't allow him to let a stranger be harmed when he can do something about it.
Jonah takes her to the family ranch to hide her.
As Jonah gets to know Annie, they start to build a relationship together. However, she is still under threat so his tough rancher family steps in to help.
A great glimpse of the west as you imagine it would be!

Meant to be My Cowboy is book 3 in the Wranglers in Wyoming by RC Ryan and next up is Jonah the youngest Merrick.

Jonah Merrick is a best selling author but splits his time working on the family ranch pitching in where needed and writing his next book. While at the cabin he built high in the hills and working on his new book he meets a hiker named Annie Dempsey. Unbeknownst to either they don’t divulge their names (for part of the book) and when her past comes calling he discovers who she is but he doesn’t care and will do whatever is needed to keep her safe…

Suspense, secrets, sworn enemies, misunderstandings, romance and lots more happening…keep reading to find out all…

I thought this was gonna be a lot more thrilling than it was. Characters were boring and the plot was just not enough to keep me interested. And the two main characters just didn’t make me believe they were in love, it all happened so fast and felt so generic.

Love love love Jonah. He is a hard working, down to earth cowboy who happens to be an amazing writer as well. He doesn’t let fame get to his head and tries to hide from that side of life so he can have the life he loves-ranching. Each one of his brothers is just as down to earth and talented in different ways. This is a tight knit family and are there for each other no matter what. So when Jonah brings home someone who is the niece of someone they perceive as wronging them and have a grudge against, they set that aside and help. I find that to be awesome.

Annie is in trouble and comes to town to hide. Only she doesn’t quite know the rules of hiding well and she also meets Jonah. Jonah who takes her breath away like she does for him. Jonah who is the sweetest most down to earth guy and a great listener. Jonah who doesn’t judge and wants to set aside grudges of families where she at first runs.

The attraction between these two is palpable and just bleeds through the pages. I love how it isn’t the physical attraction that pulls them together but the friendship they have forged before knowing their respective last names that draws them to want to stay together. The friendship created on walks and seeing mustangs. When Jonah finds out she is in trouble boy does that protective side come out and it has your heart racing for this sexy cowboy.

Watching him and his family be there for her is wonderful but seeing their relationship grow and become something more and special is beautiful. We see Jonah find who he is meant to be with and because of this a family grudge is able to come out in the open and get resolved as well. The story is fun and sweet, has some drama and suspense that keeps you on your seat edge and rooting for these two to get their chance at happy ever after.

A wonderfully written story on family, friends, love and happiness.

I received Meant to Be My Cowboy as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

Annie Dempsey arrives in Devil's Door, Wyoming, fleeing a shadow, a criminal that put her professional and personal reputation at risk. When she meets Jonah Merrick, she is immediately drawn to the quiet, retiring cowboy...until she learns his last name.j For the Dempseys and Merricks are sworn enemies, and the discovery pulls the two apart...until the threats chasing Annie become too close for comfort, and Jonah's tight-knit family is roped into proving her innocence. But will there be a happy ending in in the midst of so much danger?

This one missed the mark for me, falling into all of the "ugh" romance tropes for me. A too good to be true family, a too good small town, capped off my a too good to be true hero and heroine. It was all much too romanticized for me, and felt way too sickly sweet. There's an element of escapism in romances, but I like at least a touch of reality. It was hard to see them as people when they were so idealized. More dimension and nuances is needed in order to make this series readable for me.

MEANT TO BE MY COWBOY is a cowboy romance read with a dose of suspense. Jonah is a cowboy and a best-selling author. He wrote a book based on a discussion he overheard as a child, and it became something big. He likes his peace and quiet though, avoiding interviews and speculation about the stories he wrote. One day at his writing cabin, he runs into a young woman he had noticed at a bar from the night before and is attracted to. As he helps her find her way back to her hike and car, he makes plans to see her again. They both like each other - until they find out their last name makes them enemies.

Annie is on the run from a troubled relationship, where she was set up to the take the fall for a crime. When she reveals this information to Jonah, he is immediately invested in helping her and keeping her safe. They both like each other, but their last names and family's bad blood stays between them. At the same time, dangerous people are after Annie for the things she left behind.

This was an intriguing romance read, and I enjoyed the touch of suspense with cowboy charm. Jonah was broody, protective, and a really great character. It felt like most of the book was told from his perspective, so it felt like we got to know him really well. Annie was a bit harder to dive into, mainly because I feel like she was slow to open up to Jonah, and we did not see as much of her perspective. I would have liked to learn more about her from the start, but it was interesting to see things mostly from Jonah's side.

This family is really great with a lot of loyalty and love that I enjoyed. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone, and I was excited to see Jonah's story. The slow-burn romance was really charming and I appreciated watching Annie and Jonah get to know each other with minor Romeo-and-Juliet vibes (the families weren't quite the same level as that). The suspense was a nice added touch that kept things moving fairly quickly.

Overall, MEANT TO BE MY COWBOY was a sweet cowboy romance with a fun touch of suspense. Recommend for fans of romantic suspense and Romeo-and-Juliet vibes. Please note that I received a review copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Meant to be My Cowboy is the final story in the Wranglers of Wyoming and a very good way to wrap it all up in a satisfying conclusion.

Annie is on the run and the best place that she can think of to disappear for a while is her uncle’s hometown. There she can escape on long hikes in the wilderness, hopefully, blend in with the locals of this small town, and stay far away from her ex who is a nasty piece of work, a thief, and a man who has no problem letting her take the fall for something she didn’t do… and when she escapes his trap has no intentions of letting her survive to bring him down.

Jonah and Annie meet on one of those hikes when she believes she’s on public land but is really on Jonah’s. A casual friendship begins over their hikes with only first names exchanged. Neither would have expected to be enjoying the company of a member of the enemy’s family… but soon that fact, and Annie’s safety will come into play. When Jonah learns that she is in danger his reaction is to protect her by bringing her to the family ranch… and finally, her connection with the man Jonah’s family has been in a feud with forever it seems is revealed. Yet, both are beginning to have feelings for each other and suddenly that feud doesn’t seem quite so important to Jonah any more.

I enjoyed Meant to be My Cowboy, it wrapped up all the loose ends, gave me a couple to enjoy, lots of action, some steam, seeing the bad guy get exactly what he deserved, and hope for the future of not only this couple but all the people we’ve met in the Wranglers of Wyoming series. Even though this series has been out for a bit now, it will be brand new to some readers and for them I’d say – if you love a good, solid story with hints of danger, sizzling chemistry, a puzzle to solve, and people to enjoy getting to know then this story, this series is one you’ll want to pick up soon.

Meant to Be My Cowboy by R C Ryan is a continuation of the story of the Merrick brood, a modern day family living in Wyoming who have a tendency to take the law into their own hands when law enforcement doesn't act quickly enough. This story focuses on Jonah Merrick, cowboy, or as he is know to fans of his books, J R Merrick. He is sitting in Noni's Bar and Grill when in comes the most beautiful girls he's ever seen: Annie Dempsey. He doesn't chase after he, too many other guys are, but he knows he'll see her again. His brother's think he's just a little too laid back about it. But, she her he does, while he is at his cabin writing, she just wanders up, believing she is still on public land. They hike, and set a date for a horseback ride. It's a while into their relationship when they discover each other's surname. They bother decide the feud is too powerful and they should back away. Jonah is miserable for several days and decides that was a stupid decision so he goes to her apartment to try and convince her. He hears yelling and then a man bursts out of the door. He looks in and she's shaking and crying and so happy to see him. Explaining the situation to him, he immediately realizes she's not safe and takes her to his family's ranch.

It all gets complicated but every one of the Merrick's loves her and wants her to stay. It doesn't take long before they realize how Jonah feels about her. Jonah thought he was protecting her, but he let his guard down and she was gone. That's where law enforcement doesn't act quickly enough. There were some heart pounding moments before the Merrick's save her, but all's well that end's well. The conclusion is foregone but the path to it was littered with violence, misunderstandings, and tender moments. It was a decent story, and the Merricks are good characters. If you live modern cowboy romance with a little thriller mixed in, this book is for you!

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Meant to Be My Cowboy by Hachette, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #hachette #meanttobemycowboy

I am putting my bid in here for adoption by the Merrick family. They have all been through a lot - but they are definitely closer than most families. I think that is mainly attributed to their multi-generational living situation. Jonah is the youngest Merrick brother. He's a published, very successful author and the last single member of the family. He was very young when his mother was killed in the fire that destroyed their home and upended their lives - but the mystery of it had a very profound effect on him. His first book was centered around the story. His family has long suspected that the fire wasn't an accident - but was set by Des Dempsey, their mother's ex-fiance.

Annie Dempsey is in town running from some serious trouble not of her own making. She and Jonah connect and start down the path of friendship and more without knowing each other's last names. When they find out about their families, things take a turn while both Annie and Jonah put the feud between their families into perspective. They then put even that aside in the interest of keeping Annie safe.

There is a lot going on in this book - but I did really enjoy the relationship between Annie and Jonah. They have a lot going on in their lives - and a lot of competing forces pushing them. I really liked that even in the face of all that - they prioritized their relationship and each other.

All-in-all - many questions/storylines do get resolved in this book -but I really hope it isn't the end of the line for this area or seeing more of the Merricks. TBH - I kind of wanted Bo and Nonnie to at least have a short story or something...Maybe we'll get to see a story about Nonnie's nieces!

Overall - this was a pretty satisfying ending to the Merrick Family story - even if I could have done with a few more stories.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

R.C. Ryan's Wranglers of Wyoming series is one that I've enjoyed since it began. Meant to Be My Cowboy is the third book in the series and while it's nice to have read the others, you can read this one as a standalone.

Jonah Merrick is both a rancher and a mystery writer. He loves that he can live on his family's ranch and write his books while staying out of the limelight. The last thing he wants to do is give interviews. The celebrity is not at all what he's about. He's all about his family and his quiet life.

Annie Dempsey has just fled California to get herself away from a bad situation. Even she doesn't realize the depths of what she's running from when she comes to Devil's Door to find solace with her aunt and uncle.

When Annie goes hiking and ends up on the Merrick family property out by Jonah's cabin the two strike up a friendship and begin spending time together. When Jonah realizes that Annie is in trouble, his instincts kick in and all he wants to do is help her. He brings her to the family ranch to help keep her safe and encourages her to go to the authorities.

The two continue to grow closer as they spend more and more time together and it becomes clear to Jonah that he's not ready to let her go and he really wants her to stay permanently. Will Annie be on board with that? Especially given some of the extenuating circumstances?

This story moved at a very good pace for me and it had me hooked from the very beginning. There was a good amount of romance, but also plenty of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus, I'm a fan of the large Merrick brood, so getting to see all of them again was great as well.

Small towns have long memories, especially when it comes to family feuds. Devil's Door has the Merricks and the Dempseys. Having family in Devil's Door, Annie Dempsey has come to Devil's Door to recover fleeing a bad break up. Unfortunately, the remnants of that break up have followed her. Annie now finds herself in trouble of another kind. When she's threatened by the ex she finds help from an unlikely protector.

Strangers stick out in a small town, Jonah first notices her when she walks uncomfortably into the town hang out. He's surprised to find her hiking outside his cabin the next day, Rather than run her off Merrick land, he joins her. As they start to spend time together, they find they have much in common and greatly enjoy each other's company, until they find each other's last name. Though he knows he should keep his distance, Jonah Merrick refuses to turn his back on a woman in trouble - even if her last name is Dempsey..

Having read and enjoyed the first two Merrick brother's books I was eager to get into Jonah's story and it certainly didn't disappoint. I like the fact Annie and Jonah got to know each other and feel comfortable with each other before they discovered just who the other was. Their budding relationship, even interrupted as it was, gave credence to Annie's quick acceptance of the help Jonah and his family were offering. It also reinforces what we know about the family and their values from the previous books. If you haven't read this series yet I suggest grabbing all three and reading them in quick succession. It will be time well spent.

Meant to Be My Cowboy by R.C. Ryan is an engaging romantic suspense/contemporary romance. I loved each of the cowboys and their family. The small characters only added to the story. A young cowboy who is as good at ranching as he is at writing suspense novels. Jonah is a swoon worthy cowboy. It was hard not to like him as hero. The heroine was a bit more rough edged than the cowboy. They both complimented each other. R.C. Ryan included plenty of action, humor, and romance in this stunning page tuner! I cannot wait to what she writes next.

Annie is in a position where she is being targeted for a false crime. The bad guys have set her up for failure. In fact, they want her to take the fall. Annie trusted her gut. She left before they could do physical harm to her. Only Annie can only run to some many places. Once the bad guys send a guy to threaten her, Annie's only option is to trust her cowboy. A cowboy who has the hots for her. Jonah does not know what hit him. But he definitely wanted Annie and nothing will keep him nor his family from protecting her on their ranch. The family has connections that they use to help Annie fight the bad guys. Until then, Annie and Jonah are becoming quite an item.

Overall, I loved how big of knit Jonah's family was. There was humor, a fierce protective side, and a playful yet serious edge to them all. Annie's uncle kept me guessing. I was not sure if he would have sided with his niece or neglected her when she needed him most. This novel proved to be superb read. I cannot recommend it enough.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Cowboys, Suspense, mystery, and love-hate energy all around. Gimme gimme!! This is an incredibly fun read. Welcome to Devil's Door Wyoming, book friends. Annie is coming right off a breakup and has no need or inclination for any type of romance and Jonah? Well, let's say he's everything you want and need as a protective man. Even with the cloud of family drama hanging over them. This was so much fun.

This was my first Cowboy Romance and I was so excited! Unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. It's the third in the series and like most romance series, there are characters from the first books in the series that are really prevalent in the beginning but then the main characters' story line takes over. I think it would have been nice to have read the first books before reading this but it wasn't necessary.

This is the story of Jonah, a famous author who lives on a ranch in Wyoming with his big extended family (including two brothers who's romances were featured in the first two books. Annie is a San Francisco banker, who we learn early on is running away from trouble and ends up in Wyoming where her uncle lives. Jonah and Annie meet and start friendship/romance without learning each other's last names and once they do they realize their families have been in a feud for years and shouldn't be together. Annie's trouble also follow her to Wyoming.

This seems like it has all the great beginnings for a great story but it just didn't work for me too well. I didn't feel the chemistry or tension between the two characters and the suspense wasn't all that exciting. I do, however, feel like this would be made into a great Hallmark movie. I could see me really enjoying this on the screen. It was a quick read and had some interesting plot points so it was enjoyable but just not my favorite.

Annie Dempsey has the perfect plan in place, now she just has to stick to it, and everything will work out okay and her secret will stay safely hidden. Going to Devil's Door, Wyoming to work for her uncle helps her escape a relationship she wants no part of, and will hopefully give her a safe place to fall. Then she stumbles upon a little cabin, and it's handsome owner, while on a hike and it throws a wrench in her perfect little plan!

She never expected to meet a man like Jonah Merrick, he's kind, handsome, and stirs up feelings she hasn't felt in a long while. They start off as friends, but somewhere along the way it becomes something more. But when he learns the secret she has been keeping will he still feel the same?

Meant to Be My Cowboy is a perfectly blended romantic suspense story that will keep you thoroughly entertained from beginning to end! The moment these two wander onto each other's paths they find themselves instantly smitten with one another, but both have hang-ups about love that keep them from wary from acting on it. So it's an easy friendship from the start, but with each interaction they have you can see more simmering just under the surface. It's a slow burn kind of thing, and I loved watching them fall! Highly recommend!

This book has just the right mix of romance and suspense. I loved the instant attraction and awareness between Jonah and Annie. The handsome charismatic cowboy and best selling author, Jonah, has a laid back attitude and a lot of charm. Annie is smart, determined and trying not to draw attention to herself. She and Jonah make a connection over their love of nature, a connection that is strong enough to withstand the discovery that their families are enemies. That connection also leads Jonah to offer Annie sanctuary and protection on the family ranch when he comes to realize that trouble has followed her to town. His family respects his decision, no matter her family background, and they all show their mettle, their kindness and support when Annie’s troubles begin to escalate. They trust Jonah’s judgement and they treat Annie like an honoured guest. They also rally to defend her. It isn’t long before Annie and Jonah both realize that they want a chance at a future together, but someone means to make sure that doesn’t happen.

I loved the fascinating and intriguing characters, the charming romance and the suspenseful story line that ending in a very satisfying conclusion. This book was easy to read and hard to put down. I would highly recommend this book. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A sweet, sweet end…

I’ve loved the Merricks since the very first story in this series. A cowboy family with deep roots to their home and in the land that provided for them. Each character had their own story and going into this last instalment there were a number of unanswered questions… Liz, Bo, Jonah – the Dempsey family – I needed to know!!! And now I (delightfully) do…

The Dempsey/Merrick feud had been fueled years ago and never faltered. Each felt the other had betrayed them, and some missteps turned deadly. How could they reconcile? Could they? Annie and Jonah’s romance felt like it was going to happen under the shade of a McCoy/Hatfield theme yet the Merrick family once again stepped up. They put their own feelings aside and supported Jonah, wherever that took him. No wonder they found a place in my heart long ago!

Jonah was so many things – cowboy, son, brother - with a second career all his own. His family had always been there for him and he was grateful they looked at Annie through his eyes… Annie was hiding but she was still strong, even if she was also grateful for the unwavering support of the Merricks. Especially Jonah. Even when things turned from bad to worse…

This last of the series warmed my heart through and through – I can’t wait for more stories from this author!

*I happily reviewed this story

Annie Dempsey has just arrived in town to work at her uncle's bank when she meets Jonah, a handsome cowboy. Jonah is instantly attracted to Annie at his first glimpse of her.
Soon the two will meet again and this time they will learn each others full names. Jonah Merrick's family has had a long feud with the Dempsey's even though he has no idea why.
They start to spend more time together and as Jonah is about to pick Annie up he arrives just as a stranger is leaving. The stranger has forced his way into Annie's apartment with a warning.
Jonah soon learns that Annie is in trouble and he wants to keep her safe so he whisks her off to his family ranch.
Johan learns that at her previous bank job someone she thought was a friend stole her identity and opened an account in her name with stolen money, one million dollars. She's going to report this to the authorities but she is warned what harm will come to her.
The investigation finally begins to unfold but she is not safe yet. The man behind this wants her dead and has sent his accomplice to make this happen.
Now the entire Merrick family is involved and on the trail to bring Annie back.
This is a quick suspense/romance with great family values.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series involving the Merrick family so I may be at a disadvantage but I read it as a stand-alone and my review is based solely on this book.

Annie is new in town, hiding out from trouble and keeping a low profile. She runs into Jonah, an attractive rancher and they begin a friendship and budding attraction to each other. Then, she realizes Jonah is really a famous author not simply a rancher and also his last name is Merrick and their two families have been in a feud for years that has carried over into their generation. Jonah decides not to let that discourage their relationship but hears her being threatened and goes into protective mode. The Merrick family decides to support and protect her despite her last name. This book is part romance/part suspense and it was entertaining but the Merrick family and the group of women they’ve “rescued” had some wild stories and it seemed a little too unrealistic for me. Maybe if I read their stories as their own books I would have been able to look past it.

Overall it was a quick, entertaining read. I think if you’ve read the others in the series you will probably love this one too. Jonah is rather swoonworthy!

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Annie comes across some damning evidence that make her look bad and decides to go home. Its when she's back home that her life is threatened and Jonah can't help but want to help her out. Problem is she and his family have a long feud going on that makes it clear that they shouldn't be even near eachother but will stick around until the issue is handled.

I really enjoyed this book, it was kinda slow going at first but then again I'm used to stories like this with the whole mystery and threats to be so action backed theres barely any time to breathe. But this was a pretty good paced. Then there was the family feud going on which made is clear they shouldn't be around eachother but Annie needed help and Jonah and his family set aside differences and provided. It was so nice seeing how supportive they were. Then it came down to the whole mystery of why she came back home and her being framed by something she didn't do. I was curious to see how things would eventually be handled once it came down to it. I did like the romance between the two, I'm a sucker for the whole forbidden romance thing even if it was accepted pretty quickly but it was still really enjoyable. Overall pretty great book I enjoyed it.

Jonah Merrick is a best selling mystery author and a small town cowboy on his (large) families ranch. The Merrick ranch has been around for generations and most of the family still lives there and cares for the ranch in Devils Door, Wyoming. Jonah is the youngest son and he got the story idea for his book from the long standing family feud between the Merricks and the Dempsey's which started over the love of his mother.

Annie Dempsey arrives in Devils Door with the intent to avoid a relationship and the Merrick clan. She is also keeping a secret from her uncle and everyone she meets. On her day off Annie goes for a hike and comes across a small cabin and the owner of said cabin, Jonah. They introduce themselves (first names only) and start a friendship of sorts as Jonah shows Annie the wild Mustangs of Devils Door.

Annie's secret comes to light in front of Jonah and he insists she comes to his ranch and let his family help her, despite what her last name is. Annie agrees and the Merrick accept her immediately and work to help her during the chaos of her situation. In fact, the Merrick family may be the answer to her prayers.

Y'all the Merrick family is back and you know if you have been reading this series what that means, HAM is back. This book really didn't disappoint. I was so happy to get a chance to read it. I realized this book was going to be the last book in the series and I was a little disappointed because if you have been following along Aunt Liz has quickly become one of my favorite characters and I wasn't sure if we would see much of her in this book. However the author throws a twist in this story and it involves Liz. I liked Annie she was a fighter and ready to take to bat anyone who bad mouthed her or her family. I Liked Jonah but I did feel he just really showed his heart through out and did not keep it close to his vest, you knew where you stood with him thats for sure. The author throws some twist and turns in the book and keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. There is some adult situations in this book which might not be suitable for all readers. Overall I am sad to see this family go but this book was so worth the read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
