A woman striving to make her dreams come true. A man who took from her without asking. Can a second chance save them from the consuming wildfire?
A child born of the wilderness, I don’t know many women. Never had one of my own.
But sassy little Annie Charran owned my heart long before I stole her first kiss. She paid a high price for my actions, and even though I want her for life, I’ll never fit into the one she has planned for herself.
Given the opportunity to beg forgiveness, I grab it—and end up facing death.
With instincts overriding my senses, I take again.
But this time, a wildfire flares, demolishing everything in its path. Survival means sacrifice, and for me, life trumps dreams.
I’ll force Annie to give up what she wants most, even if it means I lose her forever.

I'm officially weeping because this magnificent series has come to an end!! I'm so in love with captivating Wilderness of Alaska, these alluring characters that reside there, battling the terrain and scrounging for their own turf.
The story is On Fire!!! sizzling hot romance of two tortured hearts heightened the craving to meteoric heights, till I was panting for them! Fire happens twice and changes the course of the young couple-Roan Kelly and Annie Charan life. It seals their Fate with molten plastic once and next time destroys their life work to ashes. Both times Annie closes up and Roan drowns in guilt.
"He’d broken my heart first, brought on that first inkling of mistrusting love. My ex, Justin, just hammered the truth home. Two men. Two broken hearts. I’m so done. It’s me time, bitch."
The struggle of the couple was excruciating to watch and feel, their "He Loves Me/He Loves Me Not" syndrome created unnecessary distances, giving them heartache for no reason. But as they say, you gotta heal yourself first before you heal others.
"Our time had ended—once again because of a fire. Roan had chased down my heart, had taken my body, my love—but too much stacked against us."
This was so true in Roan's case. Annie's scars were more visible, but they hurt Roan more. Born & Bred in the wild, he's not articulate enough, not verbal enough to deliver or respond to the signs of love. He takes by force and gives no margin. He learns a tough lesson in the matters of the heart and withdraws, his body not getting the memo though. It comes alive when Annie is near. It's a vigorous story highlighting the tenacity and resilience of soul mates to fight their demons, trying find their way back to each other. Burke doesn't let them on an easy path to recovery, throwing all physical and emotional obstacles in their way. Annie shines and soars in the ambitious sky like a goshawk, touching her success on passionate wings.
"She let me go, so I did the same, hoping my little goshawk would own the skies and find someone worthy of her, someone who could support her in ways I couldn’t."
To see her grow a spine and stand for herself was a feminist's dream come true. Such a refreshing change from doormat heroines in contemporary romance world nowadays. Roan had the softest of heart with the hardest of "Python" i ever did see😁. He doesn't yet realise the true strength of his love or his passion but Annie awakens the gentle beast in him. And their love...Omg...it was so tender & forceful at the same time. It's like they both couldn't help each other but steal the breaths and enamour readers in the process. I'm rambling cuz I'm so, so consumed by this book, this entire series of Midnight Sun. I hope we pget Kari and Junior's story to read soon 5 stars for Sassy Squirt Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
An absolutely phenomenal journey to go on with Annie and Roan. This story was exhilarating, suspenseful, and highly addictive. It enjoyed every single nail biting moment of this book. This series has been like nothing else I’ve ever read. I love it!
This book is the third in the series and it did not disappoint … read the first 2 as there are updates on characters … Roan is a man of the woods … there is no question about it … he takes what is his …. Without permission and claims it … he has lived on his homestead for years … only venturing into town once …. He set his sites on Annie … a creature that captured his heart and soul … minutes before her 16th birthday he had stolen a kiss .. without permission .. and after getting a small a taste he wanted more … chasing Annie to get another kiss ended up in a terrible accident that ended their relationship and time together on his homestead ….
Years later … Annie is back on the mountain … at her family’s homestead … (3 days hike from Roan’s) …. At 24 years old … and Annie is trying to get a fresh start and write a few novels … Well Roan finds out she is there and decides to check in on her …. Well that is when the fire starts … literally … Annie and Roan go on a roller coaster of uncontrollable misfortunes that force them to deal with their feelings and emotions …. A real test of the human strength and will power … will they survive the wilderness ? Will they be able to make it through and deal with the elements that life throws their way?
HOLY WILDING HELL! I never knew I needed Alaska in my life, until Lynn Burke brought it to me in the Midnight Sun series. Her descriptive genius has me fascinated to read everything I can about this wild place & hopefully someday I end up visiting there. Roan is the wilding, as he lives off the land because he won't go into town. He crushed on Annie, and on her 16th birthday, he stole a kiss then chased her for another, changing both of their lives. It's been years since he saw her, and finally she's come home to stay at her family homestead, and it's not long before he ends up checking up on her, so the new journey begins. I have always felt like I was cursed in life, but these two definitely upped the ante on that as it totally became a wild ride from hell with all kinds of obstacles. It left me on the edge of my seat as I turned pages as quickly as I could to see where it will all land, and it was so worth it. Of course it took a few days before my heart rate went all the way back to normal to be honest so please don't miss out on the original adventure filling up the pages as you can't go wrong with Lynn Burke EVER! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Exhilarating from start to finish! Roan only knows the Alaskan wilderness and the sweet taste of Annie on that last fiery night. The night he can't forget or forgive. Annie can't forget either as she looks at the puckered skin of her palm. The scent of his skin on her lips... He didn't mean it. She tempted the beast that fateful night and it changed everything. Eight years later she is stronger and more determined than ever to pursue her dreams and write. A few months at the cabin, alone, will be the perfect setting to give her muse wings to fly. When Roan fulfills his promise to check on Annie, the past and the present collide as the embers of their last night together ignite and spark into something undeniable!
Out of the three books in this little series, this is my favorite one. We get to go into the future and see the children of the couples in the first 2 books. Drama, suspense and edgy, I loved this story and was sucked into reading about Roan and Annie. There are tough times ahead for this couple and they will have to be strong to get through it. When a force of nature ruins everything, it's heartbreaking but Roan is determined to prove to Annie that they belong together. Not gonna say anymore because I don't wanna post spoilers but you really need to read this book! And the epilogue, I LOVED it!!! It ties everything up!!
Hands-down this was the best book of the series IMO. This story has centers around Annie and Roan, but they weren’t new characters per se. Annie is the daughter of Brock and Jessie and Roan is the son of Flynn and Saige. They spent summers together on the homestead but something happened and Annie is whisked away without any further contact. Years later she comes back to the wilds after a horrible break up and to pursue her dreams of becoming an author. Roan is tasked with checking on Annie, will they let their hormones once again take over? Will they be given a second chance?
I think this book was my favorite of the series! The way Roan loved Annie was just so perfect. I loved the survival aspect of this story so much! Again the author did a wonderful job of representing Alaska and life in the bush. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, as an Alaskan most authors who write a story set in Alaska can’t seem to get their facts straight. It’s annoying to because a state a unique and special as Alaska should be represented properly. This author/book does that! Kudos all around!!!
I must say this book has been my favourite of the 3! Annie and Roans story was amazing, hot and a perfect wrap up of the stories in book 1 and 2.
Annie has so much sass especially her bitchy muse, while Roan is just a man of the wild. He is exactly what she needs and the way their stories molded together was beautiful. I was constantly hoping for more chapters. amazing work and well worth the read!
I know this can't be the end for this series!! Both were on the cups of adulthood, feeling their first attractions, feelings of love and lust, and an misunderstanding kept them apart for eight long years. After being apart for so long, they meet again, hurt feelings still stand in the way of their happiness, but their feelings still linger. They had to battle a lot in the wilderness to survive, they learn they had to let go of past hurts, and to give in to their feelings that went dormant but was never gone. The heat, the passion these two exuded from the pages came alive for me as a reader, it couldn't have gotten any hotter than that, I truly truly love this book. Author Lynn Burke burst in with this brand new series that I'm hoping and praying won't be the last book in the series, I don't know what else to say, I am speechless on how amazing this series is, phenomenal series.
This one had a rougher start start for me, I struggled to like the main female lead, but in the end I fell in love with the characters and their story. Annie was frustrating. She was wishy washy and unnecessarily mean. It made me struggle to get into the story compared to the previous books. About 40% or so, I started to come around to Annie, and when she stopped be a big old B, I really loved the chemistry between her and Roan. Roan I loved from the beginning. I felt sorry for him at the beginning with Annie. He didn't deserve her harsh meanness, and he was nothing but devoted. I guess that means the author did a great job getting me invested. Overall, I certainly enjoyed it.
The third book in this series was incredible. Annie is a sassy, spunky woman who fell in love a long time ago with her perfect man only something happened and instead of facing the love she ended up hating him.
Roman was stupid, nothing but an animal chasing the girl he wanted. Chased her missed her then chased her for more, now she hated him and he hated himself. What was purely an accident, destroyed what could've been or did it? Great story.
This is the final book in the series and we are now on the second generation. Roan (Flynn and Saige's son) and Annie (Brook and Jessie's daughter) have been attracted to each other since their teens. Although, they haven't seen each other in seven years, their relationship heats up as soon as they see each other again. There were some outdoor survival scenes in this book and we get to see how the couples from books one and two lives have changed. This was a really great series.
Enjoyed this book and entire series immensely. Loved Roan's character, he's sweet, sexy, manly and delicious! Overall the book is intense and pulls at your heartstrings keeps you rooting for Roan and wanting to slap sense into Annie!
Roan is a child of the wilderness and is looking for the one he can love but that one is his best friend . Annie Charron the daughter of his parents best friends . He stole his first kiss at sixteen and the unthinkable happened and she got hurt. When she comes back into his life he is bound and determined to have her forgiveness. He doesn't fit into her world in the city and he doubts that she can live in the wilds with him . Will a second chance let them finally reveal their feelings for for each other . Or will the Alaskan wilderness tear them apart. This is the third and final book in the series and yes it has come full circle as we get to see Roan and Annie the children of Flynn and Saige and Brock and Jessie fall in love . Annie well she is one sassy woman, she has been hurt by men and doesn't want to be hurt again . She comes off as a tough as nails woman but there are moments of uncertainty but she comes through and shows us those fighting skills . She really grows up in this book and we see her fight hard for those she loves . Roan well he is a wild child growing up in the wilderness and only wanting one girl . He is very possessive and protective . He is built like a mountain and his eyes are so sexy . He is underneath a sweet guy who just wants to love and be loved . Brock , Jessie , Flynn and Saige all make an appearance in the book . I was so excited to get this book in my hands . I had my heart ripped out by the other two books and I wanted to know how the author would wrap it up. I must say that the author did very well and brought us to a great ending . The author paints such a beautiful, wild picture of Alaska and the bush people that live there . The characters are well written and complex . You want to cheer them on and hug them when they are hurting . I was hooked by the end of chapter one and i read it in an evening . I was totally lost in the characters and the story . Yes I admit it I did bawl my eyes out a few times through out the book but I was cheering them on by the end . So if you want a great series to read that will rip your heart out and repair it check out the Midnight Sun series . Great for your fall reading list
Wildfire is a coming-of-age story full of pain, anger, bravery, forgiveness, and love. I know I was biting my fingernails while reading this one because the intensity of some scenes sucked me right in. As the writing was so vivid, I felt like I was witnessing them firsthand. My anxiety for Roan and Annie was raised a few times, but the resolutions were always utter perfection.
When they were younger, Roan stole Annie's first kiss, but the scars it caused will last a lifetime. Now they are grown and forced back together when Annie retreats to her family's summer home in the wilds of Alaska to write her books. They will face trials and tribulations that force them to deal with the shared trauma of their past. When Mother Nature's fury threatens their lives, fleeing her wrath is the only way to survive. Roan and Annie's proximity to one another is a catalyst for Roan to experience a woman for the first time in all his years. Neither has forgotten that first stolen kiss, and now they have a new experience that ties them even closer than before. When stuck in a life-or-death situation, the two will learn if they can rely on one another or if their past differences will cause their deaths.
This series placed Alaska on my bucket list as a place I want to visit again and again through this author's works. The involvement of the families and generations was so intricately done, giving the reader a glimpse of the lonely existence to be had in the wilds of Alaska unless you have the proper helpmate such as these characters. This showcase of a series has stolen my heart!
This is the third part of the series, all three stories are different couples and this is actually almost like a complete circle as this is the children from the previous couples getting their story. Annie (Jessie and Brock's daughter) and Roan (Saige and Flynn's son). The two having grown up together, being the closest neighbors at a two days walk, they spent time during the summers together. But after something happened, the two ended up parting and haven't spoken a word to each other since. Well, more like Annie was whisked away and didn't go back. Now, years later, Annie is going back to the homestead in search of solitude to get over a bad breakup and to pursue her dream as a writer. So what happens when Roan finds out that Annie is there after all these years, of course he goes over the first chance he gets, determined to see if the girl he remembered was still the same or was her hate for him too great to forgive?
This, I believe, is my favorite of the three stories and I really like the previous ones. With some drama, danger (duh its the wild), and some really steamy moments, I inhaled this story pretty much in one sitting. I couldn't get enough and even now I'm wondering if there will be more or if this story indeed closed the series out. I give this 5 stars.
Hot, hot, hot! Sexy, intense with some danger and a swoon-worthy romance. A romance that began with a couple of teens in the wild with raging hormones and ends years later as adults trying to overcome a painful past. I love this addition to a thrilling series with this nex gen couple. They're kids of original wilderness hunks Brock and Flynn and their fierce women Jessie and Saige. Annie and Roan grew up together until a tragedy left the two at odds and separated. Annie sees more of the world and Roan is loves his wilderness life. The two end up back in the wild but can they repair the hurt and move forward? Annie is trying to realize her dream and Roan wants her to be his dream. He's a lusty hottie that's ready to get his woman. Yeah, these wilderness guys are a bunch on dominant hunks that live off the land and do what it takes to survive. The danger comes in the form of mother nature and her creatures. It's intense as Annie and Roan fight to live and learn to love. A quick, hot read with terrific characters and a sexy heat. I love these wilderness romances with an insane intensity to the sexual relationships. The guys are full of lust and the women are willing victims to all their passion. I hope we get another story in this fabulous series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Roan and Annie are the kids from couples in the previous stories in this series, and by the way, how awesome is it to get to read about them . The kids have known each other for ages, as they grow up, in their teens, their hormones take over and someone steels a kiss that leads to a tragic event. They don’t see each other for years, but in the back of their minds they will never forget their first love.
Annie is spending time alone in her father homestead, Roan is given the task to check on her, as they see each other for the first time, and being that they are quite older, all those feelings come back with a vengeance.
I loved this book for many things, second chances is my favorite type of story, and these two definitely deserve that. Another reason is the writing, Ms. Burke writes some amazing characters that just grab at you. Annie is such a strong and sassy character. The storyline also got me hooked until I turned the last page. That epilogue was the icing on the cake.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I’ve been anticipating this story since I heard the “next generation” was going to get a story! It was not at all what I expected – it was so much better!
Roan lives in the wilderness, Annie live in the city. Roan pushed for an unwelcome kiss with catastrophic results. There are some extenuating circumstances.
Annie decides to spend a few months at the Homestead to get the solitude necessary to write her books. She hasn’t gotten much encouragement, but now she needs to focus and prove herself. Dangers include bear, wolf, spider, illness and mother nature.
A delightful tale of family, forgiveness, survival and romance. Absolutely stunning.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
I read this in one sitting over a few hours. I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN. Annie and Roan have brought this series full circle. I loved that Vixen and Brock had a Sassy smirker. Saige and Flynn had broody Roan. I love this Alaskan landscape. I have to go there one day. The author did such a wonderful job bringing this story to life. The wildlife was so lifelike. I loved that big Roan didn’t like spiders. It’s so apparent how they each took after their parents. I really enjoyed the cameos from the past couples. I actually really like these characters as people. My favorite secondary character was Roans sister Nissa. She’s going to give some man or men a hard time lol. I’m so glad this series has brought this author to my notice. I highly recommend this book.
Roan is something different, he's only ever wanted one woman, Annie Charran, now at the oh so advanced age of 27, IKR?? he may have a chance after all. He's a child of the wilderness, town isn't for him in any way. Years after the accident that haunts them both will he really have a chance with Annie? Annie is done with men, first Roan let her down and then her ex is a cheating poop skid, she just wants to hide in the wilderness and write her books. When Fate pushes these two together can they survive the dangers and make it out alive? Had me on pins and needles waiting to see what came next, this is my favorite of the three. I'd love more of these, keep em coming.
I really loved this book! It did have it's moments where I was scratching my head. Like how you do a particular something while you're passed out sick. Lol. This book was a perfect ending to this series tho. I loved how it all came around full circle with these characters. The main characters were the children of the couples in the first 2 books. And through their story we got to see how they were doing as well. I loved the ending where Brock came in to tell his side of what he thought about their relationship. Overall amazing! I think my fave of the series. As for the sexy scenes. They were really hot and so animalistic!

Ugh I couldn’t stand Annie for half of the book . She made Roan feel like he was the problem & probably a rapist with her snarky words & cold behavior just because she felt like being a bitch ( her words) because she didn’t want any man in her life to derail her of the life she wants but she still lusted after him & wanted him just as badly as he wanted her . And let’s not talk about her unreasonableness when roan saved her from being burnt alive but all she did was bitch about her laptop & him not believing in her dreams of becoming an author when in reality that man thought everything she did was magic
This is the 3rd book in this series and is Roan and Annie’s journey. These two grew up together as neighbours, until they part ways and Annie is taken out of town. Annie is now back after years away to enjoy the solitude and pursue her dream to become a writer, and when Roan finds out she is back he is determined to go see her. The sparks fly between these two and the attraction is undeniable. This is a well written tale which is filled with drama, emotions, danger, suspense, heartbreak, and love. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Anne and Roan had a night that changed everything and not for good but now years later it comes full circle you could say and this couple have their second chance and boy this story was not easy for this couple, but we do get to see the others from the first books and this story will keep you pulled in until the finish
Annie and Roan were destined to be together. They just weren't ready for their HEA when Annie was 16. She had a life to live and experience to gain. Most not that happy experiences either. She needed to realize that Roan was it for her and he had do learn to communicate better. This is a very passionate book about survival in both the physical and emotional senses.
This was fiery! Roan and Annie are fire together and their past and present collide to give us a story full of angst, suspense, steam. I was unable to put this down. I also loved that we connect with the previous characters and get closure on them.
