General Rock needs a crew for his new spaceship, The Sweet Candy. He calls upon Captain Cake, Lieutenant Chocolate, Sergeant Jelly and Private Potato to team up and venture where no sweet has gone before. Will the Candy Crew know how to work together?
This was a cute kids book. It’s broken into chapters, so it’s easy to start and stop for little ones. The chapters are pretty short, and it can absolutely be read in a single sitting for an older child.
This story is about a group of friends that are part food/part human. They are in space, and need to go on missions. The story has some points where it asks the kids questions about what they would do, which was fun. My kids enjoyed those parts a lot!
I would have liked to see a little more information on how some problems were solved. There were parts where the kids weren’t quite sure how they solved the issue, but overall, this was a good book. The illustrations are fun, and they help to tell the story.
I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
Very cute book, my children (ages 6 and 5) enjoyed the characters and the illustrations very much. I liked how each character had specific qualities/skills that made them special but also emphasized that even if you didn't have a special power you were just as valuable to the team as everyone else. It would make for a great classroom read with the comprehension and engagement questions throughout.
